A recent 520-page report from a U.S. congressional investigation concludes that COVID-19 most likely originated from a laboratory incident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China. The report alleges that both Chinese authorities and certain U.S. entities were involved in a cover-up to obscure the virus's true origins. It highlights that the Department of Justice conducted a secret grand jury investigation into EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based nonprofit that collaborated with the WIV on coronavirus research. The investigation scrutinized EcoHealth's involvement in "gain-of-function" experiments, which aim to enhance a virus's transmissibility or virulence, and accused the organization of misleading investigators about the origins of COVID-19.The report criticizes the U.S. government's initial dismissal of the lab leak theory as a conspiracy and notes that the WIV had previously faced biosafety issues. It also points out that researchers at the WIV exhibited COVID-like symptoms in late 2019, prior to the virus's identification at a wet market. The findings have intensified calls for greater transparency and accountability to prevent future pandemics, emphasizing the necessity of understanding COVID-19's origins.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:

Original post here. Table of contents below. I want to especially highlight three things. First, Saar wrote a response to my post (and to zoonosis arguments in general). I've put a summary and some my responses at 1.11, but you can read the full post on the Rootclaim blog. Second, I kind of made fun of Peter for giving some very extreme odds, and I mentioned they were sort of trolling, but he's convinced me they were 100% trolling. Many people held these poorly-done calculations against Peter, so I want to make it clear that's my fault for mis-presenting it. See 3.1 for more details. Third, in my original post, I failed to mention that Peter also has a blog, including a post summing up his COVID origins argument. Thanks to some people who want to remain anonymous for helping me with this post. Any remaining errors are my own. 1: Comments Arguing Against Zoonosis — 1.1: Is COVID different from other zoonoses? — 1.2: Were the raccoon-dogs wild-caught? — 1.3: 92 early cases — 1.4: COVID in Brazilian wastewater — 1.5 Biorealism's 16 arguments — 1.6: DrJayChou's 7 arguments — 1.7: How much should coverup worry us? — 1.8: Have Worobey and Pekar been debunked? — 1.9: Was there ascertainment bias in early cases — 1.10: Connor Reed / Gwern on cats — 1.11: Rootclaim's response to my post 2: Comments Arguing Against Lab Leak — 2.1: Is the pandemic starting near WIV reverse correlation? 3: Other Points That Came Up — 3.1: Apology to Peter re: extreme odds — 3.2: Tobias Schneider on Rootclaim's Syria Analysis — 3.3: Closing thoughts on Rootclaim 4: Summary And Updates https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/highlights-from-the-comments-on-the-5d7
Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Everything Wrong with Roko's Claims about an Engineered Pandemic, published by EZ97 on February 23, 2024 on LessWrong. Premises Here I tackle some bold claims made by Roko in three separate posts about SARS-CoV-2 being an engineered virus (Brute Force Manufactured Consensus is Hiding the Crime of the Century, The Math of Suspicious Coincidences, and A Back-Of-The-Envelope Calculation On How Unlikely The Circumstantial Evidence Around Covid-19 Is). A first rebuttal to Roko's post is already out, and since I have been preparing this post for some time, certain arguments are going to be similar. The purpose of this post is not to incontrovertibly demonstrate that SARS-CoV-2 was of zoonotic origin, as I myself believe a laboratory leak to be somewhat plausible, but rather that the degree of Roko's confidence in the engineered-pandemic belief is terribly overstated in light of the presented evidence. I believe that the RootClaim debate is a great way to familiarise oneself with core arguments from all sides, it is exceedingly comprehensive and up to date. I also found Wikipedia articles on the lab-leak hypothesis and adjacent topics to be pretty informative. I definitely drew inspiration from many comments to the main post, if you recognise a comment in this post please let me know and I will link it. A Set of Explainable Coincidences Roko asserts that there the odds of zoonotic spillover are 1 in 80,000,000. What are the chances that the bat coronavirus which caused a once in a century pandemic managed to navigate its way all the way from a Yunnan cave and home in on the city with the lab having the top Google hits for "Coronavirus China" and also the location of China's first BSL-4 lab? Well, that would be approximately 1 in 200, since that is the fraction of China's population in Wuhan. 'One-in-a-century' pandemic The '1 in 200' figure is restated here as Coincidence of Location: Wuhan is a particularly special place in China for studying covid-19; the WIV group was both the most important, most highly-cited group before 2020, and the only group that was doing GoF on bat sarbecoronaviruses as far as I know. Wuhan is about 0.5% of China's population. It's a suspicious coincidence that a viral pandemic would occur in the same city as the most prominent group that studies it. First of all, a global pandemic is much more likely to start in a large city with high internal and external traffic, most of which are bound to have research centres for virology research, especially if one is referring to a fast-growing megacity of 11 million inhabitants. Secondly, a zoonotic spillover requires frequent and direct human-animal contact, and wet markets are strong candidates for this. The cities with highest presence of wet markets with live animals per-capita are located in large Chinese cities in the centre-south (see the section 'From Yunnan to Wuhan' for more on this). Roko writes that (italic added) Coincidence of timing: several things happened that presaged the emergence of covid-19. In December 2017, the US government lifted a ban on risky pathogen research, and in mid-2018 the Ecohealth group started planning how to make covid in the DEFUSE proposal. A natural spillover event could have happened at any time over either the last, say, 40 years or (probably) the next 40 years, though likely not much before that due to changing patterns of movement (I need help on exactly how wide this time interval is). As explained throughout this post, global pandemics require a specific set of simultaneous circumstances, that is why most natural spillovers end up not being pandemics: because it is a rare combination of factors. In China alone, natural spillovers of various kind take place quite literally all the time, which should lead to a much higher prior probability of zoonosis. A five-...
Newly uncovered evidence shows that not only did gain-of-function experiments at the WIV lead to the Covid-19 lab leak but that the blueprint for these experiments were bioweapons-related. But of course, US bio-weapon labs are a wacky RFK Jr conspiracy theory, right? --
As the BBC conducts an Anthony Fauci puff piece in which he conflates election deniers to vaccines sceptics, should we really be trusting a man who was allegedly warned about safety issues at the WIV 6 YEARS ago? --

Mike Johnson was elected by the House to become the next speaker as Republicans rallied behind their fourth nominee to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Johnson could afford only a handful of defections from his fellow Republicans in the chamber-wide vote, but unlike prior candidates, there were no defections to his candidacy from his party. He won 220 votes, needing around 217 to become speaker. Democrats meanwhile continued to vote for Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. He picked up 209 votes from his fellow Democrats. Johnson scored his party's nomination late Tuesday, with several members absent and three voting present. In just the hours from Tuesday, though, Johnson has shored up support from the three Republicans who voted present in Tuesday's late nomination vote. Johnson also got support from President Trump, who gave his support for the GOP nominee, urging Republicans to "get it done, fast" ahead of a potential House speaker vote. DNC says House GOP will 'have to answer' for electing 'MAGA' Mike Johnson as speaker The Democratic National Committee (DNC) took aim at newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., Wednesday just before he won a House-wide vote to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., saying Republicans would "have to answer" to voters in 2024 for supporting him. “Many Americans are waking up this morning wondering — who is Mike Johnson? We’re here to help: MAGA Republicans’ new speaker-designate supports extreme nationwide abortion bans," DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika said in a statement. "He led the charge for Donald Trump denying President Biden’s legitimate election win and tried to overthrow the votes of 81 million Americans. He’s a leading proponent of slashing Social Security and Medicare," she said. Chitika called Johnson a "carbon-copy" of "MAGA extremism," and predicted House Republicans would have to answer for supporting him when voters head to the polls in 2024. "Make no mistake: The American people will hold them accountable for this choice," she added. Republicans celebrate newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson's gavel ascension Republicans celebrated the election of House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., after he ascended to the gavel on Wednesday. Johnson was elected speaker via a vote of 220-209, taking over the gavel from Speaker pro-tempore Patrick McHenry, R-N.C. Republicans were ecstatic about the election of Johnson, with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer — who secured the GOP's speaker nomination on Tuesday before bowing out — writing his congratulations to the new speaker. "Congratulations to my friend and colleague, [Johnson], on being elected Speaker of the House!" Emmer posted. "His strong convictions and commitment to conservatism will serve this body and the American people well," Emmer added. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who also ran for House speaker, wrote "servant leadership," with a picture of the new speaker's nameplate "God bless America," Donalds wrote. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-report-unmasks-true-costs-electric-vehicle-mandates-remain-expensive New report unmasks true costs of electric vehicle mandates: 'Remain more expensive' A sweeping first-of-its-kind analysis published by think tank Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) concludes that electric vehicles (EV) would cost tens of thousands of dollars more if not for generous taxpayer-funded incentives. According to the TPPF report — authored by energy experts Jason Isaac and Brent Bennett — the average model year 2021 EV would cost approximately $48,698 more to own over a 10-year period without the staggering $22 billion in taxpayer-funded handouts that the government provides to electric car manufacturers and owners. The analysis factors in federal fuel efficiency programs, electric grid strain, and direct state and federal subsidies. "It is not an overstatement to say that the federal government is subsidizing EVs to a greater degree than even wind and solar electricity generation and embarking on an unprecedented endeavor to remake the entire American auto industry," the report states. "Despite these massive incentives, EVs are receiving a tepid response from the majority of Americans who cannot shoulder their higher cost." "It’s time for federal and state governments to stop driving the American auto industry off an economic cliff and allow markets to drive further improvements in cost and efficiency," it continues. The report determined that, thanks to a special multiplier that has existed for more than two decades, EVs receive roughly seven times more credits under federal fuel efficiency programs than they provide in actual fuel economy benefits. That figure, the total regulatory credits from federal and state fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions standards, amounts to an average of $27,881 per vehicle for EV makers. Further, the analysis calculated the socialized cost of EV charging stations' strain on the U.S. electric grid amounts to an average of $11,833 per EV over 10 years. Such costs are shouldered by utility ratepayers and taxpayers, many of whom may not own an EV. And, finally, state governments and the federal government provide an average of $8,984 per EV over 10 years in direct taxpayer-funded subsidies. "The stark reality for proponents of EVs and for the dreamers in the federal government, who are using fuel economy regulations to force manufacturers to produce ever more EVs, is that the true cost of an EV is in no way close to a comparable [internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV)]," the report concludes. "Without increased and sustained government favors, EVs will remain more expensive than ICEVs for many years to come," it states. "Hence why, even with these subsidies, EVs have been challenging for dealers to sell and why basic economic realities indicate that the Biden administration’s dream of achieving 100% EVs by 2040 will never become a reality." The TPPF report, meanwhile, comes as lawmakers at the federal and state level continue to take aim at traditional gas-powered vehicles while boosting EVs. President Biden has set a goal of ensuring 50% of all car sales are zero-emissions by 2030 and his administration has pursued rigorous restrictions on gas-powered vehicles. In December 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized rules, which targeted heavy-duty trucks, that it said at the time were the "strongest-ever national clean air standards to cut smog- and soot-forming emissions" from such vehicles. The new standards went into effect on March 27 and will be implemented for new trucks sold after 2027. Then, in April, the EPA proposed the most aggressive federal tailpipe emissions rules on light- and medium-duty emissions ever crafted. If finalized and implemented, 67% of new sedan, crossover, SUV and light truck purchases, up to 50% of bus and garbage truck purchases, 35% of short-haul freight tractor purchases, and 25% of long-haul freight tractor purchases could be electric by 2032, the White House projected. Months later, in July, the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued its most aggressive fuel economy standards ever, an action critics say would increase consumer costs. And last year, the EPA also reinstated California’s authority under the Clean Air Act to implement its own emission standards and electric vehicle sales mandates, allowing other states to also adopt California's rules. The state then approved regulations that mandated all car purchases in the state — which leads the country in annual car sales — be electric by 2035. https://redstate.com/wardclark/2023/10/24/chinese-scientists-discover-8-new-viruses-on-tropical-island-what-could-possibly-go-wrong-n2165509 Chinese Scientists Discover 8 New Viruses on Tropical Island - What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Chinese scientists working on tropical Hainan Island off China's southern coast have discovered eight new viruses in that island's rodent population, and have not ruled out the capability of those viruses to species-jump to humans. One of the viruses has been confirmed to have been a coronavirus; the COVID-19 virus was also a coronavirus, as are several of the viruses that can cause the syndrome we call "the common cold," although rhinoviruses are more common in those cases. Researchers tasked with preparing the world for future pandemic took almost 700 samples from rodents living in Hainan, just off China's southern coast. Eight novel viruses — including one belonging to the same family as Covid — were uncovered in the project, funded by the Chinese Government. Experts said the discovered pathogens had a 'high probability' of infecting humans should they ever cross the species barrier. As a result, they called for further experiments on the viruses to determine exactly what their effects on humans could be. Lots of people from lots of governments as well as academic institutions and private-sector organizations do these kinds of surveys, of course. That's how we learn about viruses, or about anything else in the natural world — by going out, taking samples, and examining things. But there's a different wrinkle in this case. The findings were shared in the journal Virologica Sinica, the publishing arm of the Chinese Society for Microbiology (CSM). CSM is linked to the state-affiliated China Association of Science and Technology, which 'accepts administrative supervision' from the Chinese Government's 'Ministry of Civil Affairs'. Virologica Sinica is also edited by Dr Shi Zhengli, an influential scientist described as China's 'bat woman' who works inside the Wuhan Institute of Virology – considered to be the source of the Covid pandemic in some corners. The journal's editorial board also features over a dozen other academics linked to the WIV. The last sentence of that article's conclusion might raise some concerns: The pathogenicity and associated impact of these novel viruses on humans and animals should be evaluated in further studies. This is, yes, the same Wuhan virology lab that set off alarms about their safety practices at the outbreak of the COVID-19 panic. (There, the Wuhan lab isn't alone.) This is also the same Wuhan virology lab where $2 million in U.S. taxpayer funds were used to conduct research, including gain-of-function research. If that doesn't set some alarm bells ringing, it's not at all clear what would. Coming as it does, hot on the heels of the impeccably coiffed Governor Newsom flying to the Middle Kingdom to stump for Chinese electric cars, and at a time when the American public is growing good and tired of the whole COVID scare, the timing of the discovery is interesting as well. Granted, these kinds of expeditions go on all the time, and granted as well that China doesn't have an unlimited pool of virologists out there looking for work.

Many are already struggling to access essential supplies such as food and water, because the principal means of transportation in the region is waterways, and river levels are historically low. Droughts also impact fishing, a means of subsistence for many riverside communities. Amazonas state declared an environmental emergency two weeks ago in response to the prolonged drought and launched a response plan valued at $20 million. Authorities will also distribute food and water supplies as well as personal hygiene kits, the state’s civil defense agency said in a statement. Gov. Wilson Lima was in Brazil’s capital, Brasilia, on Tuesday to meet with representatives of the federal government. Lima spoke with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to discuss the drought. The different levels of government will “coordinate measures in support of the people living in the affected municipalities,” Lima said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday. Fifteen municipalities were in a state of emergency on Tuesday, while 40 others were on a state of alert, the civil defense authority said. According to the port of Manaus, which monitors water levels, the river stood at 16.7 meters (55 feet) on Tuesday, around six meters (20 feet) below the same day last year. The lowest level of water was recorded on Oct. 24, 2010, when the river dropped to 13.6 meters (about 45 feet). The drought is forecast to last longer and be more intense because of El Niño climate phenomenon, which inhibits the formation of rain clouds, the civil defense authority said. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-approves-bill-striking-down-bidens-crackdown-hunting-archery-overwhelmingly-bipartisan-vote House approves bill striking down Biden's crackdown on hunting and archery in overwhelmingly bipartisan vote The House voted late Tuesday evening in favor of legislation striking down the Biden administration's decision to block federal funding for school shooting sports courses. In a 424-1 vote, the House approved the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act with 216 Republicans and 208 Democrats voting in favor, and just one lawmaker, Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, voting against. Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., introduced the bill on Aug. 1, days after a Fox News Digital report in late July revealed the Department of Education was withholding funds for school hunting and archery courses. "Hunters and fishers are the best conservationists," Green told Fox News Digital after the vote Tuesday. "Hunting, whether it be with a firearm or bow, is one of the most effective ways to control wildlife populations, protect our beautiful lands, and connect with nature. My Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act is critical for our children." He added in a separate statement that American students should be encouraged to "participate in enriching athletic activities that foster an appreciation for nature and the ability to focus on a goal." According to Green, in his state alone, the Biden administration's funding decision impacts an estimated 50,000 students. Fox News Digital reported in July that the Education Department shared federal guidance to hunting education groups highlighting that hunting and archery programs in schools would be stripped of funding. The guidance explained that the administration interpreted the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) to mean such programs can no longer receive taxpayer funds. In the guidance, obtained first by Fox News Digital, senior agency official Sarah Martinez wrote that archery, hunter education and wilderness safety courses use weapons that are "technically dangerous weapons" and therefore "may not be funded under" the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which is the primary source of federal aid for elementary and secondary education across the country. According to advocates, many schools that offer such courses have already nixed them from curriculums due to the federal guidance. "The Department of Education and Secretary Cardona are blatantly misconstruing the law to withhold funding from schools that choose to teach beneficial courses like hunter safety and archery," Lawrence Keane, the National Shooting Sports Foundation's senior vice president, told Fox News Digital in July. "Congress must hold Secretary Cardona and the department accountable for violating the letter and spirit of the law to unilaterally deny America’s students access to these valuable programs as part of the Administration’s continued attacks on the Second Amendment," Keane added. Tommy Floyd, the president of the National Archery in the Schools Program, said his organization boasts roughly 1.3 million students from nearly 9,000 schools across 49 states who are enrolled in archery courses. However, the Department of Education has doubled down on its interpretation of the BSCA, saying it would only reverse course if legislation was passed explicitly revising the 2022 law to allow funding for shooting sport programs in schools. The law included an amendment to a subsection in the ESEA listing that prohibited uses for federal school funding. That amendment prohibits ESEA funds from helping provide any person with a dangerous weapon or to provide "training in the use of a dangerous weapon," but, according to the BSCA's sponsors, was included to prevent ESEA funding for school resource officer training. https://www.foxnews.com/us/philadelphia-swarmed-alleged-juvenile-looters-targeting-apple-store-lululemon-footlocker-others Philadelphia swarmed by alleged juvenile looters targeting the Apple Store, Lululemon, Footlocker and others Philadelphia police responded to popular retailers like the Apple Store, Lululemon and Footlocker after they were allegedly being ravaged by swarms of looters taking over the City of Brotherly Love Tuesday evening. At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to reports of large crowds of juveniles allegedly looting stores in the Center City business corridor of the 9th District. "In a proactive measure, officers from the 9th District stopped a group of males dressed in black attire and wearing masks at the intersection of 17th and Chestnut Streets," a police spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital. As of midnight on Wednesday, police confirmed between 15 and 20 people were arrested during the looting and at least two firearms were recovered. As officers were speaking with these individuals, they began to receive reports of looting at the Foot Locker on Chestnut Street. Responding officers arrived at the Foot Locker and discovered the store had been ransacked in a "coordinated attack," according to the statement. A number of juveniles then fled the scene and at least one adult was arrested. Subsequent incidents of looting were reported in quick succession. Officers responded to a report of looting at the Lululemon on Walnut Street, where multiple individuals were apprehended. A short time later, looting was reported at the Apple Store on Walnut Street. No arrests were made in connection with this incident. Phones and tablets were taken from the store, but several stolen items have since been recovered. Videos posted to X, showed retail stores like Lululemon, the Apple Store and Footlocker ravaged by crowds of looters. FOX 29's Steve Keeley obtained video of a ransacked Apple Store with iPhones and iPads scattered across the display tables. Keeley wrote on X that many of the stolen Apple products were left behind due to the device's comprehensive anti-theft technology. A police officer told local outlet WCAU-TV that more than 100 juveniles took items from the Lululemon store. No injuries were immediately reported, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Police also responded to several other reports of property damage and thefts throughout the city. "The Philadelphia Police Department is committed to maintaining public safety and order," police said in the statement Wednesday morning. "We are actively investigating these incidents and working diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible for these unlawful acts. We appreciate the cooperation of our community and urge anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigations." The statement continued: "We would like to thank our dedicated officers who swiftly responded to these incidents, as well as our community members who continue to support law enforcement efforts to keep Philadelphia safe." The looting came following a Philadelphia judge dismissed charges against former police officer Mark Dial in the shooting death of 27-year-old Eddie Irizarry. Interim Commissioner John Stanford said in a press conference that the thieves were not part of the peaceful protest against the judge's decision. "This had nothing to do with the protests," Stanford said. "What we had tonight was a bunch of criminal opportunists take advantage of a situation to make an attempt to destroy our city." The news comes as Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw resigned in the beginning of September. Crime data from the Philadelphia Police Department shows there has been a 21% drop in homicides this year to date compared to the same day in 2021, when the city recorded 562 homicides throughout the year. But prior to Outlaw leading the department, the data shows Philadelphia annually recorded between 246 to 391 homicides each year between 2007 and 2019. In 2020, when she took over, there were 499 homicides, followed by 562 in 2021 and 516 in 2022. Meanwhile in California…. In August, a Nordstrom store was ransacked by a "flash mob" of more than 30 people in a large smash-and-grab. The thieves made out with nearly $100,000 worth of designer handbags and clothes. Similarly to Philadelphia, video captured shows a group of 30 to 50 people wearing sweatshirts with hoods over their heads. The suspects are seen inside the department store as they rush to the front entrance with bags in hand, scooping up whatever merchandise they can while tripping on racks to which some items were still attached. Police estimate the stolen merchandise to be worth between $60,000 and $100,000. https://www.dailyfetched.com/wuhan-institute-of-virology-warns-the-world-prepare-for-another-covid-19-pandemic/ Wuhan Institute of Virology Warns the World: Prepare for Another COVID-19 Pandemic As many as 20 coronavirus species are likely to cause a new outbreak, according to a study from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), a stark warning to prepare for another COVID-19 pandemic. In a study in Emerging Microbes & Infections in July, the WIV has been making headlines, as many social media users have begun coming to their own conclusions online. The Wuhan scientists documented their study of 40 coronavirus species, identifying 20 as “high risk … including 6 of which jumped to human, 3 with evidence of spillover but not to human and 11 without evidence of spillover yet.” “It is almost certain that there will be future disease emergence, and it is highly likely a CoV [coronavirus] disease again,” the study said. “Thus, the early preparation for the animal CoVs with risk of spillover is important for future disease preparedness, regarding the likely animal origin of SARS, MERS, and COVID-19.” SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is a disease that caused a deadly outbreak in China over 20 years ago. MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) is a coronavirus disease first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012. The study’s auhtors included Shi Zhengli, a Chinese coronavirus expert known as “batwoman” for her academic studies on the coronavirus. She became a figure of international focus during the coronavirus pandemic. Shi stopped public appearances in early 2020 but reemerged to defend the Chinese government from claims that the coronavirus came from a lab in Wuhan.

On this episode are excited to have conversation with Sara Pette and Alex Stillman co-owners of Outta Wax, a pressing plant and lathe cut studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in the spring of 2020 we discuss the ups, downs and reality of starting a record pressing plant. The Outta Wax team are simply put - record nerds - who came together to open a factory whose primary purpose is to uplift and celebrate local and independent artists who kept the record industry alive through the decades - especially within their community. We enjoyed discussing the other side of the coin with a newer plant's journey after hearing about United's long standing place in our industry last month. Huge thanks to Stefani Sikora, singer, songwriter and performer for the use of her song ‘Good Days Are Coming' off her new record The Shine. After spending 30 years in physical media production from cassette duplication to distribution Jeri is now the VP of Client Services and Front End Operations at United Record Pressing; one of the largest pressing plants in the United States. Jeri is part of the new United, a company that is looking forward to the next 60+ years; after all they did press the first Beatles 7” in North America, and historically housed many African American customers, executives, and musicians in a time of segregation in their historic Motown Suite. The conference is a time for us industry folks to discuss, innovate, commiserate and celebrate these slabs of wax we all love. Thank you to Making Vinyl, for allowing us to set up shop, and to everyone that jumped on the mic from Precision Record Pressing, Furnace Record Pressing, and Black Belt Mastering, to Materia Collective, Welcome to 1979 and more. In this episode we cover all you need to know about how records are pressed! We are joined by Women in Vinyl fam Heath Gmucs, back to talk about all things manufacturing. Heath is the creator of Wax Mage Records and has been a press operator at Gotta Groove Records in Ohio for over a decade. We've covered the first steps already in our cutting and plating episodes (go check those out if you haven't), now let's get into the nitty gritty of how these “hot plastic babies” aka our records are pressed. Hang in there through some audio issues in the first half, they resolve after the ad. Want more? Apologies everyone, we've been compelled to break our 'golden rule' of interspersing decoding episodes with interview episodes. However, the opportunity to talk to the well-known psychologist, Professor Paul Bloom. There are so many reasons to talk to Paul: first, he's a walking, talking cornucopia of knowledge across so fields in psychology that fascinate Chris and Matt. He's also a prolific author, most recently of "Psych- The Story of the Human Mind", and previously with "The Sweet Spot" about pleasure and pain, and the controversial "Against Empathy". He's also a great educator, having created a bunch of open learning resources in introductory and moral psychology. In addition to the new book "Psych", which offers a layperson's introduction to psychology he is ALSO producing a new podcast with friend of the cast and no slouch at psychology himself, Very Bad Wizard/Psychologist, Dave Pizarro. OK, that's enough reasons. There are probably more reasons, but we have provided enough. And anyway, who says we have to justify our guests and our interview to decoding schedule. We are free agents! We have agency... right? In any case, you cannot complain too much as we felt bad and have thus included in the short intro segment a "mini" (40min!) decoding of the recent appearance of academic/political pundit, Matthew Goodwin, on Triggernometry. Anthony Fauci funded research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He funded Eco Health Alliance. We know that Eco Health Alliance wanted to modify bat coronaviruses. The US Government now admits that COVID probably leaked from the WIV, which means it was CREATED inside that lab. This is the biggest story of my lifetime, and we need to get to the bottom of it.
For this episode we're keeping it all in the family, the #vinylcommunity that is! We asked you - pressing plants, record labels and collectors to give us feedback on how all the things are going within your collective vinyl spaces. Do you feel like turn times are getting better? What is the perfect run size for pressing plants? Is PVC still hard to get? And where are all the 7”s? Listen to find out answers to these questions and more. The response was so overwhelming we had to spit this episode into two. We're starting with the inside perspective pressing plants and labels. Let's dive in!

In this episode we're joined by Deb Sonzo the New Business Acquisitions and Accounts Manager at Music Graphics Chicago a division of Leo Graphics Chicago. With a background in art, and a musician herself, Deb is on the front lines of getting art proofed, printed and to your favorite record pressing plant to assemble the project. From short runs to thousands of copies, they're perfecting the digitally printed record jacket one unit at a time. We're also joined by a pop-in guest Jamie Riani who is the owner of the company, and has tons of experience in print houses over the course of his career. This episode dispels some of the confusion around dpi, PMS, RGB, CMYK, and any other design acronym you can come up with along with why templates and proofreading are so important. This is one of our last episodes of the year and 2022 season, so we want to take a moment to thank you again for spending your time with us, learning and demystifying the vinyl community. We're joined by a sort of legend in the community, Mike Dixon who lives and breathes vinyl recordings. He runs multiple successful vinyl companies based on his longtime love of education, records, outsider art, and repurposing junk into handmade art pieces. If you tuned into our episode with Bailey Moses of Hocus Bogus (Episode 26) you heard us talk about the man, the myth, the lathe-enabler Mike Dixon, without whom all the lost lathe children would be a lot more lost; and Robyn wouldn't be lathe cutting at all! Mike joins us in the midst of globe trotting. Constantly on the road, installing, cutting and generally being a global lathe ambassador. If you've thought of making a record out of something, Mike has tried it. His lathe cutting camps, where you can go to the legendary lathe cave, to try your hand at it before you go all in sell out almost as soon as they are announced, so if you're keen, keep an eye on these spaces for the next one! https://www.michaeldixonvinylart.com/https://www.recordlatheparts.com/pages/about-usRecord Lathe Parts: https://www.recordlatheparts.com/Lathe Cut Camp: https://piaptk.limitedrun.com/products/705650 Thank you to DJ and beat maker Ray Blevins, board member and our fantastic podcast editor, for the use of his track “Pita Thief”! Andrew Huff, a former vice president for the EcoHealth Alliance, says the organization developed the SARS-COV2 virus that led to the global pandemic. "The process of developing SARS-COV2 was also described in detail in the proposal submitted to, and ultimately funded by, the National Institutes of Health (HHS NIH), The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), by EcoHealth Alliance with the WIV and [University of North Carolina] listed as collaborators," according to the sworn declaration of Andrew Huff, who is represented by the attorney Thomas Renz. "Anthony Fauci funded the creation of SARS-COV2 and lied to Congress about funding Gain-of-Function work," Renz wrote in the summary – a claim also recently made by former CDC Director Robert Redfield. "Anthony Fauci and others coordinated to cover-up the funding of the Gain-of-Function work that resulted in SARS-COV2." Also, the Governor of Tennessee is calling for an investigation into Vanderbilt University Medical Center's transgender clinic after reporting from the Daily Wire: Daily Wire host and author Matt Walsh on the medical center. In one of the video's shared by Walsh, VUMC Clinic for Transgender Health's Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor admitted, “These surgeries are labor intensive, they require a lot of follow-ups, they require a lot of our time, and they make money,” she emphasized. “They make money for the hospital.” Daily Wire also reported that employees were warned that they'd suffer consequences if they refused to perform procedures due to religious or conscientious objections. In this episode Jenn and Robyn talk with Justin Perkins, owner of Mystery Room Mastering out of Milwaukee Wisconsin to discuss his white paper, a manifesto of sorts, on navigating the vinyl manufacturing process. In the last 20+ years he's mastered over a thousand albums that have been released on vinyl, including the recent 25th anniversary edition of En Vogue's ‘Funky Divas' and The Replacements, ‘Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash'. Each vinyl project can be a learning experience to some degree; and we've all been there command + c'ing and command + v'ing on that one good email response you sent, over and over. Justin's white paper on vinyl recommendations covers all those emails we send day in and day out, and together we discuss. Be sure to join in on sharing the tools, giving the right information, and continuing to press more vinyl! We're joined by our friend and record maven Amanda Schutzman to continue our discussion around collecting. From growing up around records to working in record stores like Needle and Groove, and Generation Records to being the Co-Organizer of the Vinyl Revolution Record Show, and her day job at All Media Supply she literally does it all. Amanda joined us as our very first podcast guest, so we thought after passing our one year mark, it would be fun to have her back to talk more in depth about the thing she knows the ins and outs of like no other - buying, selling, and grading records. What is Near Mint really? How do you differentiate between VG, VG+ and just plain G? Grab a record, open up your Discogs and break out those magnifying glasses, let's get to grading! Trust us, this episode is still sealed, and will retain its inherent value for years to come. *Note: we will be taking a summer podcast break starting in June and back in September. We hope you spend this time catching up on previous episodes. In the meantime, find us on social media, patreon, or email to keep in touch and suggest topics you want to learn more about! It's the age old question, how do you organize your records? These days the answer may just be, “Discogs!” You know them, you love them, and maybe like us have an unhealthy addiction to admiring your own collection in person, but also on your phone. Discogs has been called the record collector's hybrid of Wikipedia and eBay, as it is a one stop shop for all things information and marketplace. Truly a collector's paradise. They also have a handy trove of articles and resources about all things physical format. On this episode Jenn and Robyn are joined by Jeffrey Smith, the Communications and Partnerships manager at Discogs! Before that he was founder and principal publicist for thirteen years at Crash Avenue, a boutique music public relations firm. Jeffrey takes us into the source code of Discogs to learn the ins and outs, the things that we find challenging, and the places they're going. One of the goals of this podcast is to ask and answer the tough questions about vinyl and about gender. In this episode Karlyn King, lecturer, popular music academic, and researcher who teaches all over the UK helps us to do just that in this informative and validating conversation. Karlyn is currently working on a PhD at the University of Birmingham exploring the enduring format of vinyl. She is a regular panel speaker and conference presenter on all things vinyl, and has been researching and collecting actual data on unconscious bias and the ways of dealing with stereotype threats, including psychological or physical avoidance, where women will distance themselves from environments or situations where this threat may be experienced and what discourages women from audio technology, records stores and DJ culture, and reinforces minority status. If you're like us you've often wondered why there is such a different collector culture between men and women when it comes to vinyl, Karyln's chapter in The Routledge Handbook of Women's Work in Music really breaks down the reasons this may be and now joins us to delve further into the how's and why's and wtf moments that we've all experienced. With Record Store Day (RSD) mere weeks away on April 23rd, we were able to steal some quality time with our friend Carrie Colliton. Carrie is the Co-Founder of Record Store Day, the Director of Marketing for The Department of Record Stores and the Jill of all trades when it comes to organizing and handing the flow of information to stores and the public. The Department of Record Stores is a group of some of the oldest and most beloved independently-owned record shops in the country. Carrie has worked for indie record stores since The Record Exchange in college! We learn about the origins of RSD, the misconceptions, the excitement as well as some falsehoods that surround the annual independent store celebration. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008 and has continued to support and encourage all indie record stores as well as excite collectors in supporting their community. In this episode Chris Kuhlmann explorers the mind blowing and disturbing possibilities of US funded bio labs located in Ukraine. More and more “What if” scenarios seem to be surfacing around the world. Crazy sounding news pieces are now showing up in conservative media outlets. CREDITS Host: Chris Kuhlmann Written by: Chris Kuhlmann Produced by: Shaun Griffin Music composed by JD Kuhlmann Art: Shaun Griffin Sound: Chris Kuhlmann and Shaun Griffin Sponsor: Mercantile Mountain MercantileMountain.com Questions? Drop us a line at admin@kingdompatriot.us Visit us at www.kingdompatriot.us and check out our Vision Video SHOW NOTES What if? Some of the most powerful words for a free people to ask. What if gasoline was to reach $7 per gallon? Don't think that can happen? Just go to gasbuddy or any other fuel app and put in Los Angeles, CA. AAA is reporting that the average price per gallon in the US is now $4.32/gallon. What if annual inflation was 8%? Don't think that's possible? According to US inflation calculator, https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/ The 12 months inflation rate from March 2021 to February 2022 was 7.9%. And, the rolling 12 month average is still increasing, Here's the annualized inflation numbers from August 2021… 5.3%, 5.4%, 6.2%, 6.8%, 7.0%, 7.5%, 7.9%. Just in case you are looking for historical context, that's the highest since 1982. What if male transgender athletes were allowed to compete against women? Don't think that's possible? Piers Morgan wrote a piece in the The New York Post at the end of January 22 titled “Trans athletes like Lia Thomas are destroying women's sports in way as unfair as doping cheats – stop this woke insanity now!” Who is Lia Thomas? Lia Thomas was a mediocre performer as a male swimmer, but is demolishing women's records competing as a female athlete. As crazy as this sounds, the “what if” is reality. So how about the “What if” of today's topic. What if the United States had secret bio-labs in Ukraine? That is not possible correct? That is just Russian disinformation, right? Honestly, a close friend of mine sent me several news articles attesting to this very fact and I said to myself “that's not a legitimate news source…that's hogwash…that's nothing more than conspiracy theory.” Then I read it again from several different sources and again, discounted as pure conspiracy fantasy. Then Tucker Carlson from Fox News picked up the story and that raised my eyebrows. Say what you want about Fox News, they certainly have their issues and are no longer the beacon of conservative reporting where they report and you decide, but they also seem more careful than other outlets to search for the truth of a story before reporting it. Then, to put the icing on the cake, I heard testimony from Victoria Nuland. Have you ever heard of her? I hadn't either. She is the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States. I'm not even sure what she does, but she was testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on March 8th. Let's listen to this exchange between her and Florida Senator Marco Rubio. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2022/03/08/undersecretary_of_state_victoria_nuland_us_working_to_keep_russian_forces_out_of_ukraines_biological_research_facilities.html Now this statement doesn't necessarily implicate the US per se, but here's a quote from the US Embassy in Ukraine in April 2020. “The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine clarified the U.S.-Ukrainian partnership in an effort “to set the record straight regarding disinformation” on what is described as a “strong U.S.-Ukrainian partnership to reduce biological threats.” The statement explained that the U.S. Ukraine partnership is part of the Biological Threat Reduction Program, which “works with the Ukrainian Government to consolidate and secure pathogens and toxins of security concern in Ukrainian government facilities, while allowing for peaceful research and vaccine development.” Ok, that takes this conversation to a whole ‘nother level. What if the US actually is working w/ Ukraine developing bioweapons? Now the Russians are saying we are working to test Coronavirus pathogens on bats, etc., but honestly, I wouldn't trust the Russian propaganda machine as far as I could throw them… but this is our own embassy admitting we have a partnership w/ Ukraine. None of this justifies Putin's genocide of the Ukrainian people, but it's definitely an asterisk on a developing story and quite frankly a disturbing trend. What if the US was giving money to a foreign laboratory that either intentionally or accidentally released a highly contagious and virulent pathogen? Do I have to really explain that? The US gave grant money to the biolab in Wuhan China that became ground zero for what we now know as COVID19. If you have been paying attention at all, you will have by now seen the many exchanges between Anthony Fauci and Senator Rand Paul about the definition of gain of function and that the US did not give money to the Wuhan lab for gain of function research…folks, this is just semantics. We can argue all day long on whether dollars that may have been given were used directly on the Coronavirus pathogen…but that's not really the story here. That's like arguing whether or not taxpayer funds are directly funding abortions with planned parent-hood. Yes, the Hyde amendment is supposed to prevent this, but at the end of the day we give funds to Planned Parenthood and they perform abortions. Those are the facts and they are undisputed. In the New York Post article on 11/04/2021, we read that “A letter from Lawrence Tabak, the National Institutes of Health's principal deputy director, to Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) confirms that the NIH funded research at the WIV during 2018-2019 that manipulated a bat coronavirus called WIV1. Researchers at the institute grafted spike proteins from other coronaviruses onto WIV1 to see if the modified virus was capable of binding in a mouse that possessed the ACE2 receptors found in humans — the same receptor to which SARS-CoV-2 binds. The modified virus reproduced more rapidly and made infected humanized mice sicker than the unmodified virus. Starting in 2014, the NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci, funded the New York-based research nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance with annual grants through 2020 for “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.” Again, folks, we can argue all day long if the actual funds coming from the US were directly used to produce the COVID19 pathogen. But at the end of the day, just like Planned Parenthood, we provided funds to the Wuhan lab and COVID19 came from the same lab. Those are the facts and they are undisputed. So what if the United States is funding biolabs all over the world? Before COVID19, you probably would react like I would to that statement preposterous. There's no way we would give funding to other countries to develop dangerous pathogens or we wouldn't put our own bio-labs in other countries without guaranteeing their security. Yet, it's very possible that is exactly what we have done and are doing? This story is so new, I'm not even sure where to go with it. But I know I have a ton of questions? How many biolabs do we have? Where are they located around the world? Do we own and/or operate biolabs globally? If so, why do we do this outside of country? Are there laws that our government skirts around by doing it this way? What kind of research is being done? Who has access to the research? Who funds the research? Is it the NIH, is it the defense department? What is the true amount of funds devoted to this? Why do we fund labs in places that are clearly considered hostile governments or even our enemies (aka China)? This makes no sense to me at all. Who knows about these labs and who gets briefed on them? Are the executive and legislative branches equally involved? These are questions that I think the American People deserve an answer too. When “What if” becomes “Yes, it's true” and it was done in secrecy, I think we have a ton to be concerned about. Write your congressman today and demand full transparency to all biolab programs funded by the US government outside our country.

In our first interview episode of the year, we're joined by the amazing Stephen Coates, who has been researching, documenting and sharing the history of our favorite oddities in the record world, X-Ray Records. He is a music arts producer and archeologist of forgotten stories. We were lucky to be able to carve out some time with Stephen, live from the wilds of Northern Scotland, to learn more about these special and historical pieces. Rand Paul and Dr. Fauci from around May 11. Just so you know what's going on, “gain of function” according to the National Institute of Health is “experimentation that aims or is expected to (and/or, perhaps, actually does) increase the transmissibility and/or virulence of pathogens. Such research, when conducted by responsible scientists, usually aims to improve understanding of disease causing agents, their interaction with human hosts, and/or their potential to cause pandemics. So here's Rand Paul sparring with Dr. Fauci last month: Play Audio: 0:00- 1:18 And now… As part of a FOIA request from BuzzFeed, more than 3,000 emails from Dr. Anthony Fauci's inbox were published online late Tuesday night. These emails bring many interesting revelations to light. For example, zoologist Peter Daszak once thanked Fauci for pushing back on the theory that the coronavirus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). At the time, Daszak was especially interested in killing the story since his non-profit had previously steered U.S. funding to the WIV. “I just wanted to say a personal thank you on behalf of our staff and collaborators, for publicly standing up and stating that the scientific evidence supports a natural origin for COVID-19 from a bat-to-human spillover, not a lab release from the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” Daszak wrote to Fauci on April 19, 2020. “From my perspective, your comments are brave, and coming from your trusted voice, will help dispel the myths being spun around the virus's origins,” Daszak goes on. Daszak was correct in that Fauci's public rejection of the lab-leak theory did dispel the conversation. Once Fauci and like-minded politicians called the theory a conspiracy promulgated by then-president Donald Trump, the story was banned from social media and anyone who dared to bring it up was dismissed as a dangerous conspirator who probably supports QAnon. However, Daszak was also wrong because the idea that the SARS-CoV-2 originated from the WIV is not a myth. Mounting evidence suggests the virus did not originate from a Chinese wet market, the story we were told to believe for over a year. Between 2014 and 2019, EcoHealth Alliance, Daszak's organization, funneled $3.4 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to the WIV to study coronaviruses in bats. The five-year grant was renewed for a total of $3.7 million in 2019, but then canceled in April 2020 when Donald Trump said the research didn't align with the NIH's “program goals and agency priorities.” What was that money actually used for? Fauci says that funding did not go to what is known as “gain of function” research, which takes a virus that could infect humans and makes it more transmissible and/or pathogenic for humans. Last week, the WSJ revealed that three researchers from the WIV were hospitalized in November 2019 with symptoms mirroring COVID-19. Remember: Beijing says the first confirmed case of COVID-19 came less than a month later, on Dec. 8, 2019. Fauci's emails also show NIH scientists stating that the SARS-CoV-2 genome likely did not evolve naturally. These emails are dated February 2020. On April 17, 2020, Fauci told a reporter who asked him to address concerns that the coronavirus could have leaked from a lab: “There was a study recently…where a group of highly qualified evolutionary virologists looked at the sequences there and the sequences in bats as they evolve,” Fauci said. “The mutations that it took to get to the point where it is now is totally consistent with a jump of a species from an animal to a human.” Here's what was privately said two months before: Clay Travis @ClayTravis Wow, NIH scientists were emailing back in February of 2020, February!, that the covid virus genome didn't look like it could have arisen naturally. Yet Fauci said the opposite publicly. Of course. It's way past time for Fauci to be gone and he needs to be investigated himself. Quote Tweet Alex Berenson @AlexBerenson · 18h This, friends, is what you call a smoking gun. Not so much for Saint Fauci - just the entire community of virologists and scientists who insisted for a year that the China-GOF-2019 virus couldn't possibly have come out of a lab, nosiree Bob. Then last month, Fauci finally admitted he was “not convinced” that the coronavirus developed naturally. That was a major shift from his year-long insistence that it's “highly likely” that the origin was natural… If the lab-leak theory is proven correct — which would be difficult to do without China's cooperation — the probability is high that China knew, covered it up, refused to allow its doctors to notify the rest of the world, and undercounted deaths to save face. Meaning, China would be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people across the world. Within a week after China released the genomic sequencing, the mRNA sequencing for the COVID vaccine was completed. Had China been honest from the start, in November 2019, the vaccine would've been released sooner. Ben Shapiro predicts the vaccine could've then been accessible in August, which would have saved many of the lives impacted by the virus US last fall. https://nypost.com/2021/06/02/chinese-media-says-beijing-expanding-its-nuclear-arsenal/ The threat from the editor of the Global Times comes as President Biden ordered the US intelligence community to take another look at whether the coronavirus leaked from a Chinese lab. The media mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist government touted the country's “urgent” goal to expand its arsenal of long-range nuclear missiles in anticipation of an “intense showdown” with the US. But that's not all: Tucker Carlson had David Daliedon on his show a couple of days ago, and the rot goes all the way down: Play Audio: 0:00-0:48 We've said before that people who can't tell the difference between babies and clumps of tissue cannot be trusted for much. MLB Hit with $100 Million Lawsuit for Moving All-Star Game out of Atlanta https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2021/06/02/mlb-slapped-with-100m-lawsuit-over-pulling-allstar-game-from-atlanta-n2590344?fbclid=IwAR0NwSIYGIF4fpCr8Sb-fBLF3Rfn1og-rRl09CXWO6kj1yRKfv3O8Dk0KT4 The MLB announced in April that it was moving the all-star game out of Atlanta in protest over the state's election law. One tourism official said the “estimated lost economic impact” from the relocation will have a more than $100 million impact on the state. And the Jobs Creators Network doesn't want to let the organization get away with it. A small business advocacy organization filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Major League Baseball, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, the Major League Baseball Players Association and executive director Tony Clark. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York by the Job Creators Network. The suit demands the Major League Baseball All-Star Game return to Atlanta immediately or the "defendants pay $100 million in damages to local and state small businesses." (ABC 6) “MLB robbed the small businesses of Atlanta – many of them minority-owned – of $100 million, we want the game back where it belongs,” said Alfredo Ortiz, president and CEO of the Job Creators Network. “This was a knee-jerk, hypocritical and illegal reaction to misinformation about Georgia's new voting law which includes Voter-ID. Major League Baseball itself requests ID at will-call ticket windows at Yankee Stadium in New York, Busch Stadium in St. Louis and at ballparks all across the country.” As a result of the relocation, JCN gave the following figures: • More than 8000 hotel reservations were canceled. • Revenues from ticket sales, concessions and events at Truist Park – including the Futures Game and Home Run Derby Contest – by the more than 41,000 fans expected, were lost. • According to Cobb County Chief Financial Officer William Volckmann, the county would receive a “robust return” on its roughly $2 million investment to host the events. Previous MLB All-Star events have generated between $37 million and $190 million for their host communities. • Atlanta is 51% African-American, Denver is 9% African-American. U.S. Census data indicates there are roughly 7.5 times more African-American-owned businesses in Georgia than Colorado. “Small businesses in this community had valid contracts relating to the All-Star Game and other events, the result of two years of planning and all that was ripped away by fear and misinformation spewed by political activists," Ortiz said. Many states, including Colorado where the game has been moved to, have similar or more restrictive election laws. This move essentially tells fans of teams in many other cities that they can never again host the All-Star Game; it's hypocritical, illegal and we won't stand for it.” This is a good move for Major League Baseball and the people of Atlanta. Our Republic depends upon freedom-loving people taking full advantage of the system of checks and balances we have been given, and this includes taking businesses and politicians to court. Psalm of the Day: Africa “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
