Conway Jr Show Hour 2 (6.3) It’s World Cup time! We’ve got FIFA fever whether we want it or not. The first of eight matches hit LA in under two weeks. Law enforcement is bringing in hundreds of extra officers — good luck with that. Will the US win? Probably not. San Francisco rents have gone completely insane — a one-bedroom now averages $4,000 a month. In happier news, malls might actually be making a comeback thanks to Gen Z. Please God, let it be true. Galatians 1: 10 - 24 How to Please God
I Will Take Refuge In The Shadow Of His Wings Psalms 57:1 “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” What struck me about this passage when I first read it was the last line. “I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” The thought that came to my mind was, “Wouldn't it be nice to just rest in God's shadow until the disaster has passed?” I thought about all the people I know right now who are in situations that feel like they are a disaster. I have a friend who is in a legal battle with a family member over money. Tony has a co-worker who is in intensive care, fighting for his life. I have a family member who just found out she has cancer. Another friend's husband found out he is going blind. I got a text from a friend today who asked for prayers for her brother, who went to the ER today because he was having seizures. I could go on and on. It seems to be never-ending. When I think of all of them, I can see how this verse applies to them. The beginning says, " Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I can see them crying this out to the Lord. I am crying it out for them in my prayers. I am begging God to have mercy on them. I am begging God to please not let Tony's co-worker pass away. Please have mercy on him. Please don't leave his kids without a dad and his wife without a husband. Please let my family member's cancer be stage one and easily removable. Please have mercy on my friend's husband and miraculously cure his eyesight. Please stop the seizures my friend's brother is having, and please heal any damage that might be a result of the seizures. Please God, have mercy on my loved ones and me. Please God, have mercy on them and their loved ones. The verse says, “For in you I take refuge.” To take refuge means to go to a safe place. When we are struggling, as so many of us are today, we can go to the Lord; He can be our safe place. He can be the place we go to, and we rest. The ending of the verse says, “I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” When I hear this, I get two images. The first one is of a giant eagle. This eagle is taller than any person, but not so giant that we are tiny in comparison. This eagle is standing up tall and proud, and we are tucked under its giant eagle wing. It is as if he is hugging us, and we feel warm and safe there. The second image is us just falling asleep under the protection of His wings until the disaster has passed. When something awful is happening in our lives, a lot of times we want to pretend it isn't happening. Life is easier that way. We wish we could just stay in bed until the bad parts of our lives are over. Technically, we could do this, some people do this, and yet, I don't think any of us would be happy with those results. Unfortunately, avoiding the disaster and trying to sleep it away will not change the fact that you are going through something really hard right now. I have a friend who is really struggling because her daughter is not talking to her, and her daughter is about to turn 18. Her daughter is going to graduate, and she doesn't get to watch her walk across that stage. My friend does not even want to get out of bed in the morning some mornings, and who can blame her? I wouldn't either. However, my friend does get up, and she does still do the things that are required of her. Not because she wants to and not because she has to, but because she has taken refuge in the Lord. She knows where her strength comes from, and no one can take that away from her. She is strong, and she knows she is a beloved daughter of God, and that makes all the difference in the world. When we are going through a really difficult time, we can take refuge in God. We can hide under his wings, and He will protect us. I like the image I get when I hear this verse because we are asleep in the Father's arms/wings and He is just holding us there until the disaster goes away. How great would that be? How great would it be to just hide away in a safe place until all this mess was over? While we can't literally hide until the mess goes away, we can place our troubles in the hands of our Lord and then give Him permission to take care of them for us. We can hide in His shadow while we wait for the miracle that He has planned for our loved ones and for us. We just have to hold on. We just have to turn towards the Lord instead of away from him when we need him. We just need to rest in his shadow and continue to say, “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me.” If you are going through a disaster right now, I want you to know you are not alone. There are so many of us who are struggling right now. I also want you to know that I am praying for you and your family. I am praying God has mercy on you and your loved ones. I am praying you are able to find refuge in God our Savior. I am holding onto hope for you. Take refuge in the shadow of His wings until the disaster has passed. This disaster will pass, I promise you that. You will make it through this. God is there with you, even when you can't feel Him. He is there, right there with you. Rest in Him! Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless each person listening to this episode today. Lord, we want to rest in you. Please help us. Lord, have mercy on our loved ones and on us. Please do this miracle for us. The one we keep asking for, the one we really, really, need right now. Yep, that one, the one that seems impossible. We know you are the God of the impossible. We know you are the Way-maker, and you make a way where there isn't one. We know these miracles would be simple for you, and so we are begging for your mercy, Lord. Please help us. We love you, Lord, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. Obedience is not a transaction with God. It is not a lever you pull to manipulate His pleasure, nor a means of earning divine approval. Obedience flows from a heart that the gospel has radically transformed. It rises not from a place of fear or striving but from a settled gratitude—a soul that knows it has been loved and accepted fully in Christ. To obey God rightly is to respond to His love, not to attempt to earn it. That distinction changes everything. Keith Rohrer | May 10 2026 Ask 20 people what they think God is looking for in them, and you'd probably hear at least 10 different answers. Things like faithful church attendance, not getting angry, staying married to your spouse, refusing to steal even small things, volunteering at church or places like The Factory Ministries. None of those things are bad—all good actually. But what He's really looking for is, “Do you have faith?” It's not just important, the Bible insists it's impossible to please God without it. During Jesus' ministry, He only saw “great faith” in two people. Neither was a disciple, neither was a Jew. On Sunday, we'll look at one of them and try to figure out what Jesus saw in her. And why was He originally so harsh with her?

Main Point: 2 Corinthians 5:9–10 reveals three compelling motivations for living to please God so that we would pursue faithfulness with eternal joy.
We continue the conversation on how true transformation starts from the mind And by being deeply rooted in our spiritual position in Christ. Knowing this life is temporary makes a great difference in how we show up each day- in our attitude and actions. This is not to bring fear or have a YOLO mentality. In fact, from a biblical perspective, it does the complete opposite. It helps us to live lighter, more freely. Since we know to be absent from this body is to be eternally present with the Lord. We spend much of our lives chasing success, approval, and achievement, believing these things will finally satisfy us. In Ecclesiastes, Solomon discovered that real success begins when life is centered on pleasing God rather than ourselves or others. Scripture defines faith as substance and evidence, a present guarantee and a satisfying conviction, formed by hearing God's Word. As we consider what it means to live in faith and live out faith, we are reminded that faith is a reasoned trust that seeks God, knows Him, and responds in obedience.

Pleasing God over people is a tension every believer faces. This Christian devotional explores the difference between people-pleasing and God-honoring obedience, drawing wisdom from Ecclesiastes 3:1–2 and the life of Jesus. True biblical love is not rooted in appeasement or fear of conflict, but in discerning when to speak truth, when to remain silent, and when obedience to God requires courage over comfort. Highlights People-pleasing and peace-making are not always the same Biblical love values truth over appeasement There is a God-appointed time to speak and a time to remain silent Jesus modeled courage, truth, and discernment in every situation Fear of man can prevent growth and obedience God equips believers with the right words when we trust Him Pleasing God sometimes requires speaking up, not staying quiet Do you want to listen ad-free? Yet, I also knew if I said, "You're right," I'd be lying. In reality, there is a difference between people-pleasing and peace-making. They are not always one and the same. In the past, I'd be inclined to lie to keep the peace. I'd be inclined to brush things under the carpet of don't-lift-up-the-corner-of-this-rug for anything—to keep everyone happy. I'd be inclined to adapt to make sure everyone is okay. This is not biblical love, but it verges more towards manipulative love. Appeasing man is not always the same as pleasing the Lord. We must be careful here. There is a time for everything under the sun. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:a time to be born and a time to die,a time to plant and a time to uproot…” (Eccl. 3:1-2) There is a time to speak truth and a time to be quiet. There is a time to bring clarity and a time to listen. There is a time to defend and a time to back off. There is a time to pray, and there is a time to say things. Jesus didn't always back away; sometimes He spoke truth. He called out the Pharisees and told them the truth when they fought Him (Matt. 23:27-28). He said, "Forgive them" aloud when He was being crucified (Luke 23:34). He addressed the Pharisees' lack of mercy with a straightforward address (Matt. 23:23). He powerfully used His words and actions to drive the merchants out of the temple (Matt. 21:12-13). The list goes on and on... Jesus did not always stay silent. To turn the other cheek does not always mean taking it... There is a time to speak up. There is a time to not fear man. There is a time to tell the truth. The key is to pray and discern what God would have you do (Eph. 5:17). Sometimes things never change because we never change our approach. Sometimes ruts continue because we don't trust God to equip us with the right words. Sometimes habits continue because we fear man more than we believe God will help us. Don't mistake fear of man for fear of the Lord. The Lord may have you speak up louder than the fear of man has ever permitted you to. This is not unbiblical; it may be monumental in your walk with the Lord. The answer is not always silence. Sometimes the way that most pleases God is speaking up. Wisdom is knowing the difference. Lying is sinning, even if it is pursuing peace-making. The question is—how do we be true, while being godly and loving? Sometimes, this requires pausing to seek God for what needs to be said. Other times, it may require praying to get a couple of levels deeper than what is on the surface. The ultimate key is to respond to a person from God's will and not to react from our own. Intersecting Faith & Life: How do you tend to react? Do you negate your feelings? Do you cover the truth to keep peace? How might God be leading you in a new direction? What if the prayers that truly please God aren't the ones we've been praying? This powerful message from 1 Timothy 2:1-4 challenges us to examine our prayer life with radical honesty. We're called to pray for 'all people'—not just those we like, not just those who agree with us, not just those who meet our standards of worthiness. The Hebrew lesson is simple: 'all y'all' means everyone, without exception. When we pray for all people, something transformative happens—we develop what's called 'not yet eyes' instead of 'never eyes.' We stop writing people off as too far gone and start seeing them as God sees them: souls in process, works in progress, beloved creations not yet fully transformed. This includes praying for leaders and authorities, even when we disagree with their policies, their platforms, or their decisions. Why? Because prayer isn't about political alignment—it's about creating space for peace, godliness, and dignity in our communities. The stunning truth is that our first response to injustice, chaos, and conflict shouldn't be outrage or activism—it should be prayer. When we turn off the noise and get on our knees, we position ourselves to participate in God's redemptive work rather than simply adding to the division. This message reminds us that every person—from the immigrant to the ICE agent, from the protestor to the politician—has a soul that matters eternally to God.
God doesn't want your leftovers; He wants your heart. In this study, we discover that pleasing God isn't about the formality of religion, but the posture of a faith-filled covenant relationship with Jesus. Let's learn how to bring our best worship and faith to the One who sees us as we truly are.

Election Day is more than a civic duty—it’s an opportunity to honor God with the choices we make at the ballot box. Deuteronomy 30:19 reminds us to “choose life,” aligning our decisions with God’s ways so that blessings flow to us and our communities. Voting as a Christian is about more than candidates or parties; it’s about reflecting God’s principles and demonstrating the heart of faith in action. Highlights Christians are called to vote with discernment, seeking God’s guidance and aligning choices with His Word. Election Day historically has been viewed as a sacred responsibility to uphold godly principles in governance. Individual votes matter—John Wesley emphasized acting “as if the whole election depended on your single vote.” Abstaining from voting can have spiritual consequences (James 4:17). Voting reflects the values of our hearts and serves as a declaration of faith (Psalm 119:30, Joshua 24:15). Praying and humbling ourselves before God ensures our votes honor Him and contribute to healing the land (2 Chronicles 7:14). A biblically guided approach to elections helps Christians navigate political and moral complexities faithfully. Join the Conversation How do you ensure your vote reflects your faith? What steps can you take this Election Day to seek God’s guidance in your civic decisions? Share your thoughts with #VotingWithFaith #ChooseLife #ChristianVote.
