The story of Corpsewood Manor is one of the more intriguing true crime stories, because it does have elements of the occult and the paranormal. I love when we get to do a deep dive into people who march to the beat of their own drummer. There's only so much "they lit up a room" mindset you can take before you want to know who people actually are. It's a shame Dr. Charles Scudder and Joseph Odom didn't have many more years of the life they envisioned when they came to Georgia. In 1982 outside of Trion, Georgia, a couple was brutally murdered in their mansion in the woods after a robbery gone wrong. Now that we have the business end out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… and the Mystery of Corpsewood Manor. Corpsewood Manor: Such a name seems ripped from the pages of a horror novel. Yet Corpsewood Manor is all-too-real, and in December of 1982, this hand built brick mansion in the woods of northern Georgia played host to a brutal double murder. In 1976, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, Charles Scudder quit his job as a professor of pharmacology at Loyola University in Chicago to move with his two dogs and his long-time partner Joseph Odom to a 40-acre parcel of land the couple had purchased outside Summerville, Georgia.

In 1982, Dr. Charless Lee Scudder and his partner, Joseph Odom, were living the American dream. They had built their own home in the mountains, where they entertained friends and enjoyed their retirement. Then one night, two supposed friends turned on them, and the evening ended in murder.
