Couatls… benevolent serpents you'd be lucky to encounter. Although serpents are typically associated with deception and evil, these creatures couldn't be more opposite. In this episode we'll enter the dreams of a Couatl and sense the world with Truesight. We'll explore the jungles of their society and find the sacred power that is protected within. If you're a DM and want to make your players question their own goodness, then take a seat by the fire and prepare to be immersed in Couatl Lore. Your players won't ever forget the meaning of Lawful Good. Happy listening!
“I'm half a bird,a snake that flies away.I don't know where my soul is,I don't know where my home is.”-Huh. Did you know that Nelly Furtado was a guardian of the gods? The Couatl is the most majestic creature we've covered on the show so far. It's a colourful, benevolent snake-bird protector demi-god that will never lie to you and always has you best interests at heart. Which is nice because the only other snakes I can think of are Kaa and the guy from the Simpsons and neither one of them are exactly stand-up characters. Oh and the guy from Smash Bros that I don't like playing as. So come give the episode a listen, learn about the D&D lore as well as the real life version of the Couatl and then let us know if you think they are friends or fiends.

This week we get into a spectacular creature in the Couatl (pro: KWATL) and it’s real world counterpart the Quetzalcoatl (pro: KWET-Zuh-KWATL) and as always we have the time of our lives. I think this is our first 5e celestial that we cover! Listen into another week of James butchering words in other languages and to find out how this creature is connected to Star Trek! A real wiggly Gandalf.
A real wiggly Gandalf.
We go over animated armor, swords, and rugs of smothering, talking about standard uses for them, and ways to spice them up. Then we roll up the Couatl, which while not being particularly dangerous in a fight, seems to have a handful of ridiculously powerful magic spells and abilities. Tristan has Radiant Azer, and the effects they and their works can have. Dylan has a group of Anti-Magic Militants, ways that they test for magic, and the implications of them being in the area.
Getting back into the swing of things y’all. This week Dan, Mikey and Tim jump back into the groove with the Mesoamerican-inspired couatl. Heads up, the episode goes a bit long and it might be one of our most negative episodes yet (about the monster, not the listening experience, I hope). Download here!
“The Last Guardian” Group B is flying through the jungle, figuratively and literally, trying to get to Omu. They’ve had a close encounter with a Lich, and they are trying to make sure they all see themselves to the lost city. With the new knowledge […]
We've got some good ones this episode! From the leg-crawling horror of the Centipede, comma, Giant, to the animal mashup of the Chimera, the faint familiarity of the Cockatrice, and the Mesoamerican mystery of the Couatl, it's weird creatures all the way down in this episode of Monster Man.
