Ever wondered what a "cock egg" is? Well wonder no more! Featuring Cale Evans. Jacob Brayton, and guest star Blake Edwards. Music by Josh Brayton.
To celebrate 100 official episodes, we've got a story about Satan, Switzerland, and chicken genetics. In 1474, the city of Basel put a rooster on trial for the crime of…laying an egg. Add in a cockatrice, Pliny the Elder, witchcraft, dubious morals and questionable priorities, some honey badgers, and the National Poultry Journal. Look, it's not my fault that nothing is new, and people are horrible. Also, keep an eye out for our spinoff podcast coming soon, “Murder Most Ancient.” (More info to come!) #Switzerland, #Basel, #witchcraft, #chickens,#poultry, #history, #comedy Sources for today's episode: Walter, E.V. A History of the World in 10 Dinners: 2,000 Years, 100 Recipes Victoria Flexner and Jay Reifel In 2014, food historians Victoria Flexner and Jay Reifel cooked up a NYC supper club called Edible History, a pairing of fine dining and intellectual stimulation. Now they've spun their experience into a recently published book, A History of the World in 10 Dinners: 2,000 Years, 100 Recipes (Rizzoli). Come join us as the authors share highlights from their work and give us a world of culinary traditions and unfamiliar ingredients through dishes that make up 10 historical dinners: think Tudor England's Cockatrice — a chicken sewn into a pig, then roasted; or Glazed Whore's Farts (meringues) from Versailles. And they point out how we, too, can reenact these dishes at home. Bios: Victoria Flexner is a food historian and founder of Edible History, a NYC-based historical supper club. Jay Reifel, Edible History's executive chef, studied at the French Culinary Institute. He has competed on Chopped, and Beat Bobby Flay. Welcome to The Master's Voice End Times Prophecy Blog: (Hear the words of the Lord). https://the-masters-voice.com Today's word: The Lord reveals that power will change hands without votes. He will show no more mercy to America; it is a defiant nation that refuses to repent but thinks it will go on being "great" forever. God alone dictates the future. The newly elected administration will experience sudden shifts in power and old familiar faces will be seen again as they were during the electoral process of 2020. Feminism will skyrocket in America. A deadly serpent will be released [spiritually] and poisonous times are coming to the U.S.A. Chapter 15 - Beaubatons and DurmstrangQ1 - Do you think Dumbledore really wants Moody to teach these things, or is he just using the name of Dumbledore as an excuse to teach what he wants?Q2 - Why do you think Harry was able to resist the Imperius curse when everyone else in the class couldn't?“Well, the Heads of the participating schools are always on the panel,” said Hermione, and everyone looked around at her, rather surprised, “because all three of them were injured during the Tournament of 1792, when a cockatrice the champions were supposed to be catching went on the rampage.”Q3 - What do you think a cockatrice is?“Will you inform zis ‘agrid zat ze ‘orses drink only single malt whisky?”Q4 - How drunk are these horses?Q5 - Which school entrance do you like better?Karkaroff beckoned forward on of his students. As the boy passed, Harry caught a glimpse of a prominent, curved nose and thick black eyebrows. He didn't need the punch on the arm Ron gave him, or the hiss in the ear, to recognize that profile. “Harry—it's Krum!”Q6 - What do you think of Victor Krum being a student at Durmstrang?Chapter 16 - The Goblet of Fire“Oh I haven't got a single quill on me—” “Do you think he'd sign y hat in lipstick?” “Really,” Hermione said loftily, as they passed the girls, not squabbling over the lipstick. “I'm getting his autograph if I can,” said Ron, “you haven't got a quill, have you, Harry?”Q1 - Who is the most famous person you have ever met?“What's that?” said Ron, pointing at a large dish of some sort of shellfish stew that stood beside a large steak-and-kidney pudding. “Bouillabaisse,” said Hermione. “Bless you,” siad Ron.”'Q2 - Which students do you like more so far? Also, give me a power ranking of the houses of Hogwarts now?“Excuse me, are you wanting ze bouillabaisse?" It was the girl from Beauxbatons who had laughed during Dumbledore's speech. She had finally removed her muffler. A long sheet of silvery-blonde hair fell almost to her waist. She had large, deep blue eyes, and very white, even teeth. Ron went purple. He stared up at her, opened his mouth to reply, but nothing came out except a faint gurgling noise. "Yeah, have it," said Harry, pushing the dish toward the girl. "You 'ave finished wiz it?" "Yeah," Ron said breathlessly. "Yeah, it was excellent." The girl picked up the dish and carried it carefully off to the Ravenclaw table. Ron was still goggling at the girl as though he had never seen one before. Harry started to laugh. The sound seemed to jog Ron back to his senses. "She's a veela!" he said hoarsely to Harry.Q3 - How had your opinions of Ron, Hermione, and Harry changed over the last few books?“Placing your name in the Goblet constitutes a binding magical contract.”Q4 - What kinds of magical binding contracts do you think exist?Q5 - Is it insane that they have to bind to a contract and they don't know what they have to face yet?Q6 - What is the difference between Harry's fame and Krums? The entrance hall rang with laughter. Even Fred and George joined in, once they had gotten to their feet and taken a good look at each other's beards. "I did warn you," said a deep, amused voice, and everyone turned to see Professor Dumbledore coming out of the Great Hall. He surveyed Fred and George, his eyes twinkling. "I suggest you both go up to Madam Pomfrey. She is already tending to Miss Fawcett, of Ravenclaw, and Mr. Summers, of Hufflepuff, both of whom decided to age themselves up a little too. Though I must say, neither of their beards is anything like as fine as yours."Q7 - How great is Dumbledore? They couldn't hear what Hagrid was saying, but he was talking to Madame Maxime with a rapt, misty-eyed expression Harry had only ever seen him wear once before — when he had been looking at the baby dragon, Norbert.”“The Hogwarts champion,” he called, “is Cedric Diggory.” “No! “ said Ron loudly, but nobody heard him except Harry; the uproar from the next table was too great. Every single Hufflepuff had jumped to his or her feet, screaming and stamping, as Cedric made his way past them, grinning broadly, and headed off toward the chamber behind the teachers' table. Indeed, the applause for Cedric went on so long that it was some time before Dumbledore could make himself heard again.Q8 - How do you feel about Cedric being the Hogwarts Champion?Automatically, it seemed, Dumbledore reached out a long hand and seized the parchment. He held it out and stared at the name written upon it. There was a long pause, during which Dumbledore stared at the slip in his hands, and everyone in the room stared at Dumbledore. And then Dumbledore cleared his throat and read out—”Harry Potter.”Q9 - Thoughts about Harry in the tournament?

Centaur Party: Kids Playing D & D in the Mythic Odysseys of Theros Campaign Setting
The party races out of the tomb and tries to return to the Wild Woods to ask Queen Leeta what can be done to reclose the entrance to the Underworld. This episode is our season finale. Season 2 will return on April 7
The Cockatrice in D&D lore is nowhere near as cool as it should be. So Kyle did some extra research and we talk about the origins of the real cockatrice. Honestly, the best part about this episode is that we learned that a ‘Fart Egg' is a real thing. But is the Cockatrice a friend or a fiend? Give the episode a listen and then let us know what you think.
Centaur Party: Kids Playing D & D in the Mythic Odysseys of Theros Campaign Setting
The party rushes into a cave passage beneath the tomb to try to stop the island from being drawn into the mountains. As they delve deeper into the cave, they notice that there is evidence of humanoid creatures that have been turned to stone. This episode uses the the Caves of the Cockatrice lair from Fantastic Lairs by James Introcaso, Michael E. Shea, and Scott Fitzgerald Gray https://fantasticlairs.com/ We also mention purchasing the Dungeon Master's Screen: Wilderness Kit that was purchased at Titan Games.
