On June 21, 2020 Gavin Caruso and Courtney Henderson were in the midst of what would become a rescue that alters the course of both their lives. They had gone to Colorado for an adventure, and an adventure is what they got, though they hadn't intended to fall down the mountain. With a thunderstorm surrounding them, search and rescue trying to navigate the difficult terrain and both bleeding from their heads, it was up to Gavin and Courtney to survive. It is as they are extracted, though, that one of them dies. Welcome back to Tragedy with a View. Welcome to the premiere episode of the Food Origins Podcast! Recorded on location at Hendo Studios in San Diego, CA. I sat down with my friend Courtney Henderson who provided me with inspiration to start this podcast. Courtney is a professional photographer from a small agricultural town in Albany, Georgia. I was volunteering for an Echelon Front / Jocko Willink conference where Courtney was working several years ago and we've been friends ever since. Before opening his own photography studio, Courtney spent many years as a Professional Mixed Martial Arts photographer. Taking photos of many of the top tier fighters and champions you see today. Seeking control of his own destiny, Courtney opened Hendo Studios where he provides a place for photo shoots, podcasts, music videos and numerous other media. Shortly after we had this conversation, Courtney started his own podcast The Boisterous Boys with co host Sunni Imhotep. We talked about what it was like growing up in in the South and how Courtney was brought up in a farming town and their daily meal collaboration of food from family, neighbors and friends. This week we're reissuing part of a previous episode but on its own to never forget. This month in July marked eight years since Iraq war veteran Kenneth Stafford, a 27 year old father of three girls, was cornered, gunned down and killed by local police while he was going through a difficult time. At a recent protest reporter Gracie Gordon met with his mother Terry Colgrove and his sister Courtney Henderson. They explained how he was on military leave on that fateful tragic day. He had just traveled down to the area from Washington. He was dealing with PTSD and stress related to a pending court case. He had gotten a shotgun from someone to protect himself. When his family called for help, instead of a mental health worker, it was police who came out firing. The Man in the High Castle is an American dystopian alternate history television series produced by Amazon Studios, Scott Free, Headline Picturesand Electric Shepherd Productions. The series is based on the 1962 novel of the same name by American science fiction author Philip K. Dick. The story is an alternate history of the world in which the Axis powers won World War II. The United States has been partitioned into three parts: The Japanese puppet state of the Pacific States of America, which comprises the former United States west of the Rocky Mountains; a Nazi puppet state that comprises the eastern half of the former United States; and a neutral zone that acts as a buffer between the two areas, called the Rocky Mountain States.
