Zviedrijā skaita balsis pēc Riksdāga vēlēšanām. BRICS dalībvalstu vadītāju tikšanās Indijā. Jemenas hutiešu nemierniek bloķē kuģu satiksmi Sarkanajā jūrā. Aktualitātes analizē Austrumeiropas politikas pētījumu centra vecākais pētnieks Mārcis Balodis un Latvijas Ārpolitikas institūta jaunākā pētniece un ārvalstu ziņu redaktore portālā "LSM.lv" Albīne Hlopņicka. Politiski mazkustīgā Zviedrija Šodien būtu jābūt saskaitītām pēdējām balsīm pēc svētdien, 13. septembrī, notikušajām Zviedrijas Riksdāga vēlēšanām, taču jau nedēļas sākumā publiskotie pirmrezultāti ļauj spriest, ka nozīmīgas pārbīdes mūsu aizjūras kaimiņu politiskajā spektrā nav notikušas. Pie tam šīs vēlēšanas lielā mērā atjaunojušas spēku samērus, kādi Zviedrijas likumdevējā izveidojās pēc aiziepriekšējām – 2018. gada vēlēšanām. Gluži kā toreiz, arī tagad sociāldemokrātiem, kuri dažas vietas zaudējuši, Riksdāgā, visdrīzāk, būs simts mandātu no 349, savukārt viņu galvenajiem konkurentiem, moderātiem jeb mērenajiem, kuri pāris vietas ieguvuši, būs 70 mandāti. Praktiski 2018. gada pozīcijās atsviesti arī galēji labējie Zviedrijas demokrāti, kuri šajās vēlēšanās zaudējuši visvairāk, pirmo reizi savā vēsturē piedzīvojuši elektorāta sarukumu un atdevuši otras lielākās frakcijas statusu moderātiem. Uz vienas rokas pirkstiem skaitāms mandātu skaita pieaugums paredzams arī Kreisajai partijai, Zaļajai partijai un Centra partijai spektra kreisajā, un kristīgajiem demokrātiem un liberāļiem labajā flangā. Kā jau ierasts, zviedru politikas kreisās un labējās spektra daļas pīlāri ir sociāldemokrāti un moderāti. Kādu laiku no šīs ainas izkrita Zviedrijas demokrāti, ar kuriem pārējās partijas uzskatīja par neiespējamu jebkādu sadarbību. Tomēr pēc 2022. gada vēlēšanām tika noslēgta t.s. Tidē pils vienošanās, kas ļāva izveidot premjera Ulfa Kristersona labējo mazākuma valdību ar moderātu, kristīgo demokrātu un liberāļu ministriem un Zviedrijas demokrātu atbalstu. Tomēr tagad, kad galēji labējie daļu savas politiskās masas zaudējuši, šīs vienošanās aritmētika kļūst problemātiska. Tas gan nenozīmē, ka vieglāks koalīcijas sadiegšanas uzdevums būs potenciālajai sociāldemokrātu premjerministrei Magdalēnai Andešonei. Viņai būtu jāpanāk četru politisko spēku – sociāldemokrātu, kreiso, zaļo un centristu – līdzdalība vai vismaz atbalsts. Šajā sakarā, vismaz formāli, šķērslis ir kreiso un centristu līdz šim deklarētais, ciktāl centristi ir paziņojuši, ka neatbalstīs valdību ar kreiso piedalīšanos, savukārt kreisie uzstāj, ka neatbalstīs valdību, kurā paši nepiedalās kā koalīcijas partneri. Kreisie, kuri tiek raksturoti kā ekosociālistu partija, ir savās nostādnēs eiroskeptiska, ir pret Zviedrijas dalību NATO un iespējamu pievienošanos eirozonai. Teorētiski tiek apspēlēta arī versija par kādu transcentrisku koalīciju vai vienošanos, kurā sadarbotos sociāldemokrāti un moderāti, taču kas tāds zviedru iekšpolitikā ļoti sen nav pieredzēts. Stipro vīru siltie apskāvieni Pagājušās nedēļas nogalē uz 18 samitu Indijas galvaspilsētā Ņūdeli pulcējās organizācijas BRICS dalībvalstu vadītāji un pārstāvji. Bez sākotnējām dibinātājvalstīm – Brazīlijas, Krievijas, Indijas, Ķīnas un Dienvidāfrikas Republikas pēdējos gados organizācijai pievienojušās arī Ēģipte, Etiopija, Indonēzija, Irāna, Apvienotie Arābu Emirāti. Faktiski pievienojusies, bet iestāšanās nolīgumu vēl nav ratificējusi Saūda Arābija. Savā pašreizējā sastāvā organizācijas dalībvalstu iekšzemes kopprodukts pēc pirktspējas paritātes aptver apmēram trešdaļu no planētas kopapjoma, šajās valstīs dzīvo gandrīz puse no planētas iedzīvotājiem un atrodas vairāk nekā sešdesmit procentu pieejamā darbaspēka. Tur ražo apmēram 45% planētas lauksaimniecības produkcijas un iegūst apmēram 30% naftas. Tomēr šīs grupas valstis, sākot ar (vismaz teorētiski) komunistisko Ķīnu, neofašistisko Krieviju un islāma teokrātiju Irānu, beidzot ar Persijas līča monarhijām un pamatā tomēr demokrātiskajām Indiju un Brazīliju, ir valstis ar ļoti atšķirīgiem politiskajiem režīmiem un arī ģeopolitisko orientāciju. Sji Dziņpins, Narendra Modi un Vladimirs Putins, silti apskāvušies samita fotogrāfijās un tam veltītajās karikatūras, protams, izskatās kā biedīga antirietumu alianse, taču līdz īstenai „siržu savienībai” te vēl visai tālu. Kā sasniegums tiek atzīmēts fakts, ka izdevies pieņemt vienotu samita deklarāciju, kuru parakstījuši gan Apvienotie Arābu Emirāti un Saūda Arābija, gan Irāna, kas, kā zināms, pēdējos mēnešos „aplaimojusi” savas partnervalstis ar raķešu un lidrobotu triecieniem. Attiecīgi deklarācijas tekstā ir tikai vispārīgi pausta norūpētība par situāciju reģionā, nepiesaucot konfliktā iesaistītos. Līdzīgos nogludinātos izteikumos raksturota arī Trampa administrācijas piekoptā tarifu politika; karš Ukrainā vispār nav pieminēts. Kā vienu no nozīmīgākajiem procesiem samitā novērotāji piesauc dialoga aktivizēšanos starp Indiju un Ķīnu, prezidentam Sji un premjerministram Modi aktīvi risinot divpusējo dialogu. Kas attiecas uz Krievijas vadoni Putinu, tad viņa galvenais ieguvums ir iespēja demonstrēt, ka viņa agresorvalsts nebūt nav starptautiski izolēta. Samitā bija klāt arī ANO ģenerālsekretārs Antoniu Guterrešs. Piebalsojot namatēva Nerendras Modi teiktajam par nepieciešamību mainīt starptautisko kārtību no „privilēģiju piramīdas uz partnerības platformu”, ANO vadītājs paziņoja, ka „šodienas ekonomiskās, demogrāfiskās un ģeopolitiskās reālijas ir citādas nekā 1945. gadā. Mūsu institucionālajām struktūrām tas jāatspoguļo”. Kā primāri maināmās struktūras ģenerālsekretārs piesauca ANO Drošības padomi un Bretonvudas finanšu sistēmu. Bābelmandebs = Hormuzs Nr. 2? Par iespēju, ka Jemenas hutiešu nemiernieki, kurus atbalsta Irāna, varētu bloķēt kuģu satiksmi Sarkanajā jūrā, tika runāts jau kopš militārā konflikta sākuma starp Irānu un Izraēlas un Savienoto Valstu koalīciju. Konkrēta karadarbība sākās jūlijā, kad Irānas transportlidmašīna mēģināja nogādāt hutiešu kontrolētajā Jemenas daļā militāru kravu un Irānas Revolūcijas sargu korpusa virsnieku grupu. Saūda Arābijas un Jemenas valdības spēki apšaudīja attiecīgā lidlauka skrejceļu. Pēc šī incidenta hutieši paziņoja, ka 2022. gadā noslēgtais pamiers vairs nav spēkā, un sāka apšaudīt Saūdu tankkuģus Sarkanajā jūrā. Turpinājumā abas puses vērsa gaisa triecienus viena pret otras ostām Sarkanās jūras piekrastē, hutieši – arī pret Saūdu naftas pārstrādes infrastruktūru. Septembrī sākās aktīvas sauszemes kaujas starp hutiešiem un Jemenas valdības spēkiem. Valdības spēku pusē karo arī vairāki praktiski neatkarīgi vietējie Dienvidjemenas bruņotie formējumi. Vispirms hutieši uzsāka ofensīvu Taizas provincē Jemenas dienvidos, taču drīz tika apturēti, un valdības spēki ziņoja, ka pārgājuši pretuzbrukumā šajā un vairākos citos virzienos. Valdība pat apgalvoja, ka grasoties uzsākt cīņas par hutiešu kopš 2014. gada kontrolētās galvaspilsētas Sanas atgūšanu. Puses turpināja apmainīties ar gaisa triecieniem. 10. septembrī sāka pienākt ziņas, ka hutiešu spēki vairākos virzienos atspieduši pretiniekus, tai skaitā ieņēmuši stratēģiski svarīgo Mohas ostu, Perimas salu Bābelmandebā un Hanīša arhipelāgu, kas atrodas Sarkanajā jūrā uz ziemeļiem no šauruma. Piektdien Saūda Arābija paziņoja, ka tai nācies slēgt naftas vadu, kas savieno ieguvju rajonus ar Sarkanās jūras piekrasti, ļaujot apiet Hormuzu. Cauruļvadam uzbrukts ar lidrobotiem no Irākas teritorijas. Pagaidām hutieši gan uzbrūk tikai Saūda Arābijas kuģiem, taču kuģu kustība caur Sarkano jūru un Suecas kanālu strauji sarukusi, savukārt frakta un apdrošināšanas cenas kāpušas, dažos gadījumos pat vairakkārt. Saūdu valdība vērsusies ar lūgumu pēc militāra atbalsta pie Savienotajām Valstīm un Lielbritānijas. Prezidenta Trampa administrācija pagaidām tiešu militāru iesaisti atteikusi, savukārt premjera Endija Bērnema kabinets nosūtījis padomniekus situācijas apzināšanai. Saūda Arābija, Ēģipte, Turcija, Pakistāna, Bangladeša un vēl deviņas valstis izveidojušas Daudznacionālo kuģniecības aizsardzības aliansi kuģošanas nodrošināšanai Sarkanajā jūrā. Och trots att den här typen av attacker är simpel, fick den konsekvensen att vissa medborgare medborgare i Sverige började ifrågasätta valets legitimitet.– Det är vanligt att jobba på det sättet med en cyberattack som samtidigt bidrar till en ryktesspridning, säger Anna Nyqvist.Artificiell intelligensSedan cyberattacken 2018 har mycket hänt som kan hjälpa den som vill hacka sig in i system och skapa kaos. Ett exempel i närtid är AI-modellen Mythos från företaget Anthropic som rekordsnabbt kunde hitta säkerhetsbrister i it-system. Ett sådant vapen i fel händer kan skapa stor skada. Hittills är det bara ett fåtal aktörer som fått tillgång till Anthropics allra kraftigaste språkmodell. Men det är ingen garanti.– Det är lätt att stirra sig blint och säga att Mythos är den enda läskiga. Tur att det inte finns så mycket mer. Men det finns kapabla modeller. Det finns både stängda modeller hos OpenAI, men även öppna modeller som alla kan göra otrevliga saker redan nu, säger Sebastian Öberg AI-forskare på FOIDet behövs inte särskilt mycket fantasi för att inse att någon aktör med hjälp av en AI-modell först kan hacka ett system, ta över det och samtidigt orkestrera en informationsoperation som ska få människor att misstro valsystemet. Det finns inga konkreta hot mot Sverige och det svenska valet den 13 september. Men tittar man på hur det sett ut vid tidigare val och vid val runt om i Europa i närtid så är val prioriterade mål. Frågan är inte om, utan hur omfattande en attack blir.– Jag skulle bli förvånad om det inte var några attacker. Sen om allmänheten få ta del av att de här attackerna ägt rum? Det är inte lika självklart, skulle jag säga. Men det kommer definitivt att vara attacker, säger Öberg.ValnattenI ljuset av allt som skett vid tidigare val, så är det inte konstigt att svenska myndigheter är på tårna inför, under och efter årets val. Och en nyhet i år är att Regeringen har utsett en av spjutspetsarna inom svensk underrättelsetjänst att skydda valet.– Vi har ett uppdrag från regeringen där vi ser till att bedöma hur hotläget ser ut inför valen från cybersäkerhetsperspektiv. Lyssna på alla avsnitt i Sveriges Radios app. För tre år sedan såg Denat Lahi, idag 18 år, en film på youtube om en kille som fotograferade fåglar. Han blev helt fascinerad, köpte en kamera och började fota just fåglar. Men snart dök det upp en räv i trädgården. Han spårade rävarna i tre månader, lärde sig tyda spillningar och fick många fina bilder. Detektivarbetet är det mest spännande, säger han, att lära sig hur djuren lever och rör sig. Han följer ofta djur som lever nära oss människor, och i dagens Naturmorgon tar han med fältreporter Lena Näslund till ett grävlinggryt i kanten av samhället Veberöd, öster om Lund.Och så blir det en tur upp till Fjällbotaniska trädgården i Hemavan. Det är Sveriges högst belägna botaniska trädgård, och världens nordligaste. Den grundades av botanisten Olof Rune med inspiration från Alperna. Opozicijske stranke so v državni zbor vložile predlog za razpis posvetovalnega referenduma o predlogu, da državni zbor razreši svojega predsednika Zorana Stevanovića. La localidad valenciana de Buñol acoge este sábado, como cada agosto, su tradicional y prestigioso Concierto Mano a Mano, declarado Fiesta de Interés Turístico Autonómico y que suma ya 51 ediciones. Se trata de un evento que reúne sobre el escenario del Auditorio Municipal de San Luis a las dos históricas sociedades musicales del municipio: la Sociedad Musical La Artística y el Centro Instructivo Musical La Armónica.Desde su creación en 1974, cada año (excepto los dos de pandemia en los que no se pudo realizar el concierto), ambas bandas se "enfrentan" en un duelo musical que, pese a no ser competitivo porque no hay jurado, premios, ni clasificación oficial, tiene un fuerte componente emocional y es considerado uno de los encuentros bandísticos más prestigiosos del panorama nacional, pues se presentan programas independientes concebidos con la máxima exigencia artística.

Són actuacions incloses dins del Pla Lloret Actua. Fins ara, el Consistori ha fet set decrets per sancionar immobles que es llogaven sense la llicència pertinent, amb multes que van dels 4.000 als 12.000 euros. D'altra banda, la Policia Local també ha aixecat acta en cinc Habitatges d'Ús Turístic que sí que tenen llicència, però que incomplien diferents aspectes recollits en l'Ordenança municipal d'HUTs, en aquest cas, amb sancions que van dels 1.000 als 1.500 euros. Ens en dona més detalls l'alcalde Adrià Lamelas. Explica que aquestes inspeccions serveixen per fer front a la competència turística deslleial i també a la problemàtica que genera aquesta activitat turística no controlada entre els veïns i veïnes. «Fem front a la proliferació dels últims anys d'empreses que viuen del lloguer turístic sense la normativa ni el compliment adequat, és un frau de la competència deslleial i una problemàtica entre els veïns i veïnes».Adrià Lamelas Segons l'alcalde, aquestes accions han estat útils també per revertir aquests habitatges il·legals. L'objectiu principal, explica, és limitar l'obertura de nous habitatges i procurar que l'activitat turística tingui un bon equilibri amb el veïnat. «Limitar al màxim l'obertura de nous, si avui dia s'obre un és que és il·legal, l'activitat turística ha de tenir un equilibri i una bona relació amb el veí».Adrià Lamelas L'Ajuntament compta amb dos inspectors i la col·laboració de la Policia Local, concretament del Departament de Policia Administrativa. S'encarreguen de fer el seguiment per carrers o d'actuar quan algun veí detecta l'entrada de turistes en habitatges que no compleixen la normativa. Intensīva lauksaimniecība viņai ir slikta. Ja lauksaimniecības zemes sāk pamazām aizaug, tad lukstu čakstītei ir labi. Bet kad lauksaimniecības zeme tiek apstādīta ar mežu vai aizaug ar krūmiem, tad lukstu čakstītei atkal slikti. Viņa ir tāds pārejas zonas putns, un diemžēl tādiem putniem labi neklājas," skaidro Viesturs Ķerus. Lukstu čakstīšu joprojām Latvijā ir daudz, bet to skaits gan ir stipri mazinājies, 10 gadu laikā tie ir vairāk nekā 40% populācijas. Tāpēc lukstu čakstīte ir iekļuvusi Sarkanajā grāmatā, lai gan joprojām ir parasts putns. Putns savā mūsdienu nosaukumā joprojām ir saglabājis vārdu, kas latviešu valodā kādreiz lietots, bet tagad to izmanto arvien retāk. Tas ir vārds luksts. Tā ir zema, slapja, mazliet aizaugusi pļava. Zemas, slapjas, aizaugušas vietas ir luksti. Tur patīk dzīvot lukstu čakstītei. Savukārt nosaukuma otrā daļa, protams, ir saistīta ar čakstināšanu. Šim putnam vārds ir dots no tā, kur viņš dzīvo, un no tā, kā viņš izklausās," bilst Viesturs Ķerus. "Čakstināšana lukstu čakstītes gadījumā gan ir uztraukumu sauciens, ko var vasaras otrajā pusē bieži dzirdēt lukstu čakstītei piemērotās vietās. Tas nozīmē, kaut kur tuvumā ir ligzda vai mazuļi un pieaugušie putni ir satraukušies," stāsta Viesturs Ķerus. "Tā lukstu čakstītes dziesma, ko var dzirdēt agrāk vasarā, ir tāda vīterošana, reizēm iepinot arī citu putnu balsu atdarinājumus. Pa vidu ir čerkstēšana laiku pa laikam. Viņa arī ļoti neslēpjas. Parasti dzied uz kāda augstāka krūmiņa vai kāda augstāka stublāja."

Kā sagatavot ēdienu, lai paēstu un tas nesabojātos visas garās darba dienas laikā, skaidrojam raidījumā Kā labāk dzīvot. Veselīgas un viegli pagatavojamas receptes iesaka uztura speciāliste Eva Šmite un uztura speciāliste, biznesa augstskolas "Turība" studiju programmas "Uzturs" vadītāja Guna Bīlande. Jautājam arī Rīgas ielās sastaptiem cilvēkiem, kādi ir viņu pusdienu ieradumi, vai viņi ņem līdzi mājas gatavotu ēdienu. Aģentūras "Norstat" apkopotie dati liecina, ka vairāk ņemt līdzi mājās gatavotu ēdienu uz darbu izvēlas sievietes (40%) un 33% vīriešu. 7% gan vīrieši, gan sievietes pērk ēdienu veikalā; 10% sieviešu atzīst, ka pusdienas nodrošina darbavieta, savukārt šo pašu atbildi sniedz 7% vīriešu. 5% sievietes saka, ka darbā nemēdz ēst. Savukārt vīrieši, kuri saka, ka viņi vispār darbā nemēdz ēst, ir 12%. Guna Bīlande norāda, ka pirmām kārtām pusdienas būtu vajadzīgs ēst, lai cilvēks var funkcionēt ne tikai no rīta, bet arī pa dienu, pēcpusdienā un lai vakara ēdienreize neizvērstos milzīgā reidā uz ledusskapi, kur tiek izlaupīts viss pieejamais. "Ja tu noteikti nepaēdīsi pusdienas, tad vakariņas ticami būs nevis dubultā, bet trīskārtīgi. Tāpēc pirmām kārtām ir jādomā par to, ka mums ir jāpaēd pusdienas," atzīst Guna Bīlande, norādot uz dažādiem veselības riskiem, ja cilvēks pusdienas neēd. "Vienmēr noteikti ir vieta diskusijai par izmaksām," turpina Guna Bīlande. "Ēdiens, kas gatavots mājās, vienmēr izmaksās lētāk nekā kafejnīcā vai ēdnīcā, vai veikalā nopirkts. It īpaši vasaras sezonā, kad ir pilns dārzs ar kabačiem un visu pārējo, gala izmaksu rezultāts pusdienu kastītei paliks vien dažu eiro rāmī pretstatā pusdienu piedāvājumiem. Ja parēķinām tīri finansiālo aspektu, tie varētu būt 30-40 eiro [ietaupījums] nedēļas griezumā, ja mēs paskatāmies gada griezumā, mums ir 1000 eiro. Burvīgs ceļojums sanāk." Eva Šmite atzīst, ka arī viņa ir "kastīšu cilvēks", kurai patīk ņemt ēdienu līdzi, jo no mājām var paņemt līdzi arī produktus, kurus varbūt pusdienu piedāvājumā nemaz neieraudzīsi. "Mājās mēs varam izvēlēties pēc iespējas kvalitatīvākus produktus, mēs varam arī, kā Guna teica, ar vēsu prātu jau saprast, ko mums pusdienās vajadzētu uzņemt tā, lai būtu paēduši, lai mūsu veselība no tā iegūtu. Ja mēs to kastīti sagatavojam iepriekšējā vakarā vai konkrētās dienas rītā, tad visticamāk, ka nebūsim ļoti lielā izsalkumā un varēsim izvēles izdarīt racionālas un pārdomātas," uzskata Eva Šmite. Tāpat raidījuma viešņas norāda, ka nav obligāti līdzi vienmēr jāņem silts ēdiens, svarīgākais ir šo ieradumu ieviest un sākt ar vienkāršākām lietām, piemēram, var paņemt svaigus dārzeņus, ielikt biezpienu vai mocarellu, maizes šķēli. "Ne vienmēr tam ir jābūt maksimāli sarežģītam un sagatavotam," uzskata Guna Bīlande.
Lai arī Latvijai nav pašai sava astronauta, mums ir spēcīgi kandidāti. Viena no viņiem ir Veronika Puiša – mediķe, kas sākusi karjeru kā ģimenes ārste Skotijā, šobrīd ir Eiropas Kosmosa aģentūras medicīnas padomes locekle, aeornautikas un kosmosa mediķe un strādā ar pirmās formulas pilotiem. Meitene, kas grib strādāt kosmosā – tā viņu savulaik dēvēja studiju gados. Drīzumā Veronika dosies ilgstošā pētījumā uz Antarktīdu, kas arī ir saistīts ar kosmosa izpēti. Pētījums, kura laikā Veronika Puiša dosies uz Antarktīdu, ir Eiropas Kosmosa aģentūras finansēts darbs. Viņa dosies uz itāļu-franču staciju "Concordia". Tā atrodas apmēram 3200 metru augstumā Antarktīdas vidienē. Un dažādi apstākļi šo vidi padara ļoti ekstremālu. Tā ir gan polārā nakts un diena, kā arī gaisa temperatūra, kas vasarā ir mīnus 20-30 grādu, ziemā - mīnus 70-80 grādu. Pētniece atklāj, ka vasaras periodā tur visai daudz zinātnieku, bet ziemas periodā tur būs tikai 12-13 pētnieki. Tur uz vietas būs jādzīvo deviņus mēnešus bez iespējām doties prom. "Tur ienāk mans darbs kā biomedicīnas pētniecei. Es realizējušu Eiropas Kosmosa aģentūras pētniecības programmu, pētot izolācijas efektu uz cilvēkiem. "Concordia" bāzi izmanto kā analogu Mēness un Marsa pētījumiem. Tie būs fizioloģiski pētījumi, piemēram, kā mums mainās imūnā sistēma, kad esam izolācijā ilgu laiku, gan arī kā baktērijas mainās, gan psiholoģiskā pētniecība." Pētot šos jautājumus, sanāks arī pašai nokļūt izolācijā un sevi pakļaut visam tam, kas ir tas pētījuma objekts. "Dažos pētījumos es būšu arī pati pētījuma objekts," piekrīt Veronika Puiša. Pētniece atzīst, ka sajūtas, domājot par gaidāmo došanos uz Antarktīdu, ir dažādas. No vienas puses ir liels gandarījums, jo tā ir unikāla iespēja un reti kuram to izdodas paveikt. "Man liekas, ka tas ir tuvākais, ko es varēju atrast tam, lai būtu astronaute, jo darbs ir visai līdzīgs," atzīst Veronika Puiša. "Protams, no otras puses arī, ir bail, jo ilgu laiku būs jādzīvo tālu no visiem cilvēkiem, ko es pazīstu, no manas normālās dzīves, no manas karjeras veselu gadu es būšu prom un man nebūs nekādas iespējas atgriezties, lai kas arī nenotiktu. Protams, ir bail, un es ļoti daudz domāju par to, kā saglabāt gan personīgās attiecības, gan profesionālās attiecības." Jaunajā, žurnālā “Geriatrija” publicētajā pētījumā, gandrīz pusei pieaugušo, kas vecāki par 65 gadiem, uzlabojusies fiziskā vai mentālā veselība, un dažkārt pat abi rādītāji. Zinātnieki secinājuši, ka cilvēkiem ar pozitīvāku attieksmi pret novecošanos bijusi ievērojami lielāka iespējamība uzrādīt šos veselības uzlabojumus. The Gemara (Shabbat 114a) teaches that one of the qualities of a Talmid Hacham (Torah scholar) is that if he notices that one of his garments is inside-out, he immediately turns it around so the stitches will not be visible. It seems that long ago, the interior of garments looked very much like the exterior, except that the stitching was visible on the inside, and so it would be common to mistakenly wear a garment inside-out. A Torah scholar is obligated to ensure to wear his garments the right way, and not inside-out. The Tur writes that with respect to this Halacha, all observant Jews must consider themselves "Torah scholars." All those who observe the Torah effectively function as the "ambassadors" of Torah, since people who see us and watch how we conduct ourselves naturally interpret our behavior as reflective of the Torah's values. Therefore, all observant Jews must dress respectably, and this includes ensuring that clothing is not worn inside-out. However, if the concern was only about appearance, then this Halacha would not apply to undergarments, which are not seen. We would assume that one may wear an undershirt, for example, inside-out, since it is not visible. In truth, though, several sources teach that this Halacha is based also on Kabbalistic concepts, and it therefore applies to all garments. Even if, for example, nobody would notice if one's socks are worn inside-out, or if his Sisit are worn inside-out, nevertheless, they must not be worn this way. Beyond the need to appear presentable, clothes must be worn the right way because of Kabbalistic reasons, and so this applies to all garments. If, however, a garment is made from the outset to be reversible, and worn both ways, then one may wear it either way.

The Gemara (Berachot 12) tells that some Sages considered instituting the daily recitation of the Aseret Ha'diberot (Ten Commandments), but this was not done because of the heretics. Rashi explains that there those who spread the heretical belief that only the Ten Commandments are binding, while the rest of the Torah does not need to be observed. Reciting the Aseret Ha'diberot each day would be misunderstood as reinforcing this belief, implying that only these are the obligatory laws. Therefore, the Sages decided against incorporating the Ten Commandments into the daily prayer service. Surprisingly, the Tur writes that one may recite the Aseret Ha'diberot each day if he so wishes. The Bet Yosef explains that although the Gemara concluded that this should not be done, the Gemara refers only to the congregational prayer service. If the Ten Commandments are read each day publicly as part of the congregational Tefila, this might embolden the heretics, but if someone wishes to recite this text each day privately, he may. In fact, the Bet Yosef adds, it is commendable to recite the Ten Commandments each day, to strengthen one's faith in the Revelation at Sinai. The Shulhan Aruch rules accordingly, and the Rama clarifies that this applies only to a private recitation by an individual. By contrast, the Maharshal (Rav Shlomo Luria, Poland, 1510-1573) wrote that it is permissible even to include the Ten Commandments as part of the congregational prayer, and that this was his community's practice. He explained that the Gemara discouraged reading the Aseret Ha'diberot together with Shema, but this section may be recited by the congregation at other points during the prayer service. The Maharshal said that his congregation recited it each day before Baruch She'amar. Rav Haim Vital (1543-1620) writes that he had the custom of reciting the Aseret Ha'diberot each morning before Shaharit, until his mentor, the Arizal, instructed him to discontinue this practice. The Hida (Rav Haim Yosef David Azulai, 1724-1806) comments that the Arizal apparently felt that even private individuals should not recite the Aseret Ha'diberot each day. Elsewhere, the Hida speculates that the Arizal may have discouraged reciting this section before Shaharit, but did not oppose its recitation after the prayer service. Regardless, our practice is not to recite the Ten Commandments at all, even privately, perhaps because of the Arizal's instruction to his disciple. (However, some Siddurim list the Ten Commandments on the margins alongside the first paragraph of Shema, as these commands are alluded to in this paragraph.) Incidentally, the Rambam, in a famous responsum, strongly opposes the practice followed in some congregations to stand when the Ten Commandments are read from the Torah (on Shabbat Parashat Yitro, Shabbat Parashat Va'et'hanan, and Shabuot). Just as the Gemara forbade the incorporation of the Aseret Ha'diberot into the prayer service, fearing that this would embolden the heretics, the Rambam felt that giving special respect to this section by standing similarly could have this effect. Indeed, our custom is to remain seated for the reading of the Aseret Ha'diberot. If the Rabbi is called for the Aliya that includes the Ten Commandments, and thus the congregation stands out of respect for the Rabbi, they should sit after the Rabbi recites the blessings, before the reading begins. A number of Poskim similarly opposed the practice to display images of the Ten Commandments on the wall in the synagogue, giving them special prominence, as this, too, could embolden the heretics who claimed that only these commands are binding. This objection appears in several works, including Zecher Yehosef (Rav Yosef Zecharia Stern, 1831-1903), and Teshurat Shai ( Rav Shlomo Yehuda Tabak, 1832–1907). This is the ruling of Rav Betzalel Stern (1911-1989), in Be'sel Ha'hochma. Others justified the practice, suggesting that an image of the Ten Commandments serves as a reminder of the fact that the entire Torah was presented at Sinai. However, Rav Yisrael Bitan challenged this explanation, noting that this image could easily be misunderstood as indicating that only these ten laws were delivered at Mount Sinai. Regardless, Rav Moshe Sternbuch (contemporary), in Teshubot Ve'hanhagot, writes that common custom allows featuring such images in the synagogues. He explains that since the commandments are not written out fully, and only one or two words of each commandments appears, there is no concern of a misunderstanding. It should be noted that many synagogues feature the Ten Commandments on tablets which are rounded on top, which is incorrect. The tablets were rectangular, and not rounded.

We conclude the daily Korbanot section with "Rabbi Yishmael Omer" – a Berayta (passage by a Tanna) authored by the great sage Rabbi Yishmael, listing the thirteen methods with which the Sages extracted Halachot from the text of the Torah. If one wishes to extract oil from the ground, it is not enough to know where the oil is located – he needs the right machinery to extract the oil from beneath the ground. Likewise, to deduce Halachot from the Biblical text, one needs to have the "tools," the rules by which the Halacha can be determined based on a careful analysis of the text. The first of these "tools" is Kal Va'homer, whereby a conclusion is reached through logical deduction, by noting that the Halacha applies in a less intuitive context. An analogy would be a person concluding that he can lift a certain heavy object after seeing that someone weaker than him was able to lift it. An example of a Kal Va'homer in the Torah is G-d's announcement of Miriam's punishment for speaking Lashon Ha'ra. He said that if Miriam's father had angrily scorned her, she would be ashamed for an entire week, so certainly, now that Hashem has scorned her by having her stricken with Sara'at, she should remain outside the camp for a week (Bamidbar 12:14). The second of Rabbi Yishmael's thirteen methods is Gezera Shava – extending a Halacha that applies in one context to a different context on the basis of a common word shared by these two areas of Halacha. Likely the most famous Gezera Shava is the connection drawn by the Sages between Pesach and Sukkot. The Torah establishes an obligation to eat Masa on the night of Pesach, the 15 th of Nissan, and the Sages deduced that on the first night of Sukkot one is similarly required to eat bread in the Sukka. As the Torah requires observing Pesach on "Hamisha Asar" – the "15 th " of Nissan, and it requires observing Sukkot on "Hamisha Asar" – the 15 th of Tishreh, we may infer that the obligation that applies on the night of Pesach applies also on Sukkot. Hence, one must eat bread in the Sukka on the first night of Sukkot just as one must eat Masa on the first night of Pesach. (Throughout the rest of Sukkot, although one who wishes to eat bread must do so in the Sukka, he does not have an obligation to eat bread in the Sukka; this obligation applies only on the first night.) The Tur writes that we recite this Berayta at the end of the Korbanot section between it is the introduction to Torat Kohanim – the Halachic Midrash on the Book of Vayikra, which focuses on the sacrifices, and is thus relevant to the topic of sacrifices. The Bet Yosef (commentary to the Tur by Maran Rav Yosef Karo, author of the Shulhan Aruch) cites Rav Yishak Abuhab (Spain, 1433-1493) as stating that when one recites the list of the eleven spices of Ketoret, he must do so carefully, from a written text, in order to ensure not to mistakenly omit any of the spices. As we say in the section from the Gemara recited in the Ketoret section, "Im Hisar Ahat Mi'kol Samaneha Hayab Mita" – leaving out even one of the eleven ingredients of the Ketoret constitutes a capital offense, punishable by death. Since we read the Ketoret section in lieu of the offering of the Ketoret in the Bet Ha'mikdash, one who mistakenly skips one of the ingredients would be in violation of this capital offense. The Bet Yosef speculates that this might be the reason why Ashkenazic communities do not recite the Ketoret section on weekday mornings – due to the concern that one might recite this section quickly, given the pressures of the workweek, and mistakenly omit one of the spices. Indeed, the Rama (Rav Moshe Isserles, Poland, 1530-1572) explains on this basis the Ashkenazic custom not to recite the Ketoret on weekdays. The Bet Yosef comments that if the Ashkenazim received a tradition to omit the Ketoret on weekdays, then he certainly will not argue with their tradition, but if this is done only due to the fear of skipping one of the spices, then this practice is not acceptable. He explains that when the Gemara speaks of the death penalty as the punishment for leaving out one of the spices of the Ketoret, this refers to the Kohen Gadol offering a deficient incense on Yom Kippur. The only time it was ever permissible to enter the Kodesh Ha'kodashim – the inner sanctum of the Bet Ha'mikdash – was when the Kohen Gadol went there to perform the special Yom Kippur service, and this required the offering of Ketoret. If the Ketoret was deficient and thus invalid, then the Kohen Gadol would be in violation of a capital offense when he entered the Kodesh Ha'kodashim on Yom Kippur. It goes without saying that this has no relevance at all to somebody who mistakenly omits one of the spices when reciting the section of the Ketoret and listing its ingredients. A different view is held by the Rambam, who maintained that a Kohen incurs the death penalty for offering a deficient Ketoret even on ordinary weekdays, and not only on Yom Kippur. However, even according to the Rambam, the punishment is incurred not for bringing a deficient Ketoret, but rather for entering the Bet Ha'mikdash for naught, since the offering brought was not valid. Clearly, this does not apply to one who mistakenly skips one of the spices while reciting the Ketoret. Moreover, even if one insists that offering a deficient Ketoret itself constitutes a capital offense, there is no basis for extending this to a person who omits one of the spices during the recitation of this section. Therefore, while of course one should always try to ensure to recite all the words of the entire prayer service properly, there is no reason to be especially "scared" when listing the ingredients of the Ketoret.

In the prayer we recite before the Korbanot section each morning, we express our joy over the fact that we arise early each morning to go to the synagogue and study hall, and we remain there in the evenings: "Fortunate are we! How good is our portion, how pleasant is our lot, and how exceedingly beautiful is our heritage. Fortunate are we when we rise early and stay late in synagogues and houses of study." In some editions of the Siddur, the phrase "Ke'she'anahnu Mashkimim" is written without the prefix "Ke" at the beginning. According to this version, we are exclaiming that we are fortunate "She'anahnu Mashkimim" – "that we arise early," not "when we arise early." The Ben Ish Hai (Rav Yosef Haim of Baghdad, 1833-1909) writes that a person should not say, "She'anahnu Mashkimim," because this would be dishonest, as most people do not arise at dawn to go to the synagogue or study hall. We should instead recite "Ke'she'anahnu," expressing that we are fortunate when we succeed in arising early to serve Hashem. Hacham Ovadia Yosef, however, disagreed, noting that the word is written "She'anahnu Mashkimim" in numerous texts of the earlier generations. It is found in Tana De'beh Eliyahu, the Siddur of Rav Amram Gaon, the Tur, the Seder Ha'yom, and several other sources. Hacham Ovadia explains that even one who does not rise early can recite this text – "She'anahnu" – because this word is written in the plural form, and thus refers not specifically to the individual reciting the prayer, but to the Jewish People generally, and many Jews indeed make a point of rising very early. This is comparable to the Vidui Ma'aser declaration that would be made every third and six years of the seven-year Shemitta cycle avowing compliance with the various tithing requirements (Terumot and Ma'aserot). Rashi (to Kiddushin 26a) writes that even a person who does not own land in Eretz Yisrael can make this proclamation, even though it refers to Eretz Yisrael as the land "Asher Natata Lanu" – "that You have given us" (Debarim 26:15), because this means that the land was given to the entire Jewish Nation. Even though the person himself has no portion in the Land of Israel, he can nevertheless speak of it as the land which Hashem has given "us," because the land was given to the entire nation. By contrast, a person without land in Eretz Yisrael cannot make the Mikra Bikkurim proclamation which is declared upon bringing one's first fruits, because this declaration speaks of the land "Asher Natati Li Hashem" – "that You, O G-d, have given me" (Debarim 26:10), in the first-person form. The phrase "She'anahnu Mashkimim" is written in the plural form, and thus refers to all Am Yisrael, and not specifically to the person reciting the prayer. Hence, it is legitimate even for somebody who does not rise early to recite this text. Nevertheless, most of the Siddurim that have become accepted in our community use the text "Ke'she'anahnu Mashkimim."

Each morning, before the Korbanot section, we recite a prayer ("Ribon Ha'olamim") in which we acknowledge our lowliness, recognizing that we are unworthy of G-d's kindness, and that even the most powerful are weak in relation to G-d and even the wisest are ignorant in relation to G-d. In this prayer, we humbly confess, "Ki Chol Ma'asenu Tohu" – "for all our actions are worthless." The obvious question arises as to how we can make such a pronouncement. After all, while we must all acknowledge that we are far from perfect, is it true that "all our actions are worthless"? We spend time praying, learning Torah, and performing acts of kindness for others, we give charity, and we do numerous worthwhile things throughout the day, every day. We of course all have much room for improvement, and, unfortunately, we are all guilty of wasting time on vanity, but it certainly seems exaggerated to claim that nothing we do has any value. Due to this question, there were some Poskim who changed the text of the phrase – replacing the word "Kol" ("all") with the word "Rob" ("most"). With this emendation, the text acknowledges that most of our actions are valueless, as we pursue vanity, but not that we never involve ourselves in meaningful activities such as prayer, Misvot and Torah study. However, the word "Kol" appears in all the texts that we have from earlier generations – including the text of the Rambam, Rav Amram Gaon, the Tur, and the Abudarham. Therefore, it seems very difficult to emend the text and change "Kol" to "Rob." The explanation, as Rav Yisrael Bitan discusses, likely stems from a comment of the Midrash (Vayikra Rabba 28:1) interpreting the verse in Kohelet (1:3), "Ma Yitron La'adam Be'chol Amalo" – "What does a person gain from all his toil?" The Midrash notes that certainly, there is much gained from a person's toil in Torah study, but Kohelet speaks of "Amalo" – a person's own "toil," meaning, that which he does for himself, for his own enjoyment and satisfaction. The "toil" that a person engages in for G-d, so-to-speak – his efforts in Torah and Misvot – are certainly precious and immensely valuable. It is only "Amalo" – his self-serving pursuits – that offer him no benefit. Likewise, we may explain the phrase "Ki Chol Ma'asenu Tohu" to mean that "Ma'asenu" – everything we do for ourselves, and not for the service of Hashem – has no value or significance. Therefore, we should not change the text to "Rob," and should instead maintain the text found in earlier sources – "Ki Chol Ma'asenu Tohu."

The Gemara (Ta'anit 27b, Megilla 31b) teaches that if not for the merit of those who recite the passages in the Torah that speak of the various sacrifices, the world would cease to exist. The Bet Yosef cites this Talmudic passage in the context of the Tur's comment that it is proper to recite each morning the sections in the Torah describing each form of sacrifice – Ola, Minha, Shelamim, Hatat, and Asham. The Gemara further relates that after Hashem gave Abraham Abinu His promise that his descendants would receive the Land of Israel, Abraham asked what would happen if they sinned. How would they continue to survive if they are unworthy? Hashem replied by showing Abraham the Korbanot, the sacrifices through which his offspring would earn atonement. Abraham then asked how they would achieve atonement after the destruction of the Bet Ha'mikdash, when sacrifices would no longer be offered. G-d responded that by reciting the sections in the Torah discussing the Korbanot, Abraham's descendants would be considered as having offered the sacrifices, and would thereby attain forgiveness for their misdeeds. The Gemara in Masechet Menahot (110a) similarly teaches that one who learns about one of the sacrifices is considered to have offered that sacrifice. And so when we read the verses about the Ola offering, we are credited with bringing an Ola; when we read the verses about the Minha offering, we are credited with bringing a Minha; and so on. The Zohar tells that when Hashem taught Moshe the laws of the sacrifices, he asked what would happen once Beneh Yisrael are exiled and no longer able to offer sacrifices. Hashem responded that when they learn about the various sacrifices, they would earn atonement as though they had offered them. In a different passage, the Zohar relates that Rabbi Pinhas once met the prophet Eliyahu, and Eliyahu taught him about the great benefit of reciting the sections of the Torah dealing with the sacrifices. He said that Hashem told the prosecuting angels that as long as Beneh Yisrael read these portions of the Torah with Kavana (concentration), the angels can report to Hashem only about the good deeds that Beneh Yisrael perform, and lose the right to prosecute against them. Thus, by reading the section of Korbanot, we transform the prosecuting angels into our advocates. The Sefer Haredim (Rav Elazar Azkari, Safed, 1533-1600) writes that since Hashem considers Beneh Yisrael His "children" ("Banim Atem L'Hashem Elokechem" – Debarim 14:1), and the Misva of honoring parents requires one to feed his parents, we bear an obligation to "feed" Hashem. Quite obviously, Hashem does not need actual food, but we accomplish this by learning about the Korbanot, which represent the idea of bringing "food" to G-d. King Shlomo, in an ambiguous verse in Kohelet (11:2), writes, "Ten Helek Le'shiba Ve'gam Li'shmona, Ki Lo Teda Ma Yiheyeh Ra'a Al Ha'aretz" – literally, "Give a portion to the seven, and also to the eight, for you do not know what evil will befall the earth." Rashi brings several interpretations of this verse, one of which is that it refers to the sacrifices offered during the seven days of Pesach and the eight days of Sukkot (including Shemini Aseret). King Shlomo urged the people to ensure to offer all the required sacrifices, because "you do not know what evil will befall the earth" – the Bet Ha'mikdash might be destroyed at some point in the future, such that Korbanot will no longer be brought, and the nation will survive in the merit of the sacrifices brought when the Mikdash stood. This verse thus indicates after the destruction of the Bet Ha'mikdash, we have no option of receiving credit for offering the sacrifices, except by relying on the merit of the sacrifices that were offered in the times of the Bet Ha'mikdash. This would then contradict everything we have seen about the ability we are given to earn the merit of offering sacrifices through the recitation and study of the passages discussing the Korbanot. Rav Haim Palachi (Turkey, 1788-1868) explained Rashi's comments to mean that by learning about the sacrifices, we invoke the merit of the sacrifices offered by ancestors. When we recite the section of Korbanot, and learn about them, we connect ourselves to the sacrifices which were brought millennia ago in the Bet Ha'mikdash, as though those sacrifices were offered on our behalf. And it is in this way that we access the merit of the Korbanot by reading and learning about them.
