Noel is prepping for graduation and can't seem to decide whether to cut Felicity out of his life or stay friends. Felicity is mourning the loss of her friend Noel while denying the loss of her friend Noel. Ben gets accepted to an intensive summer EMT program. After trying to decline it the whole episode, he eventually decides to accept it, spending the summer apart from Felicity, who will be in New York. When Noel's Seattle job falls through, he arrives back at the loft for the summer…where Felicity will be living, too. Ruby shows up to support Noel for his graduation and would love to be more than friends with Noel. Tracy comes back into Elena's orbit with the intention of getting back together with her. Elena is terrified, but breaks up with DeForrest. She tries to resist Tracy…until he proposes to her. Meghan and Sean fight over where to spend their summer vacation. Meghan wants to pay for an expensive vacation, while Sean wants to spend within his means. We get to see them use strange conflict resolution exercises from Dr. Zwick. Cluck! In hour three, Mike & Jason chat with 40+ year sports broadcasting vet Jeff DeForrest about all the sports craziness in Miami right now, what with two teams in the Heat and the Panthers in their respective finals at the exact same time, plus the boys tell us what they learned. This podcast is produced by Andy Cole and Greg Balloch. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Media Inc. or any affiliate.
The episode with the biggest valve. Noel and Felicity have a confrontation about his feelings for her. Felicity wants to be friends, but Noel doesn't know how to do that. Richard has caught Noel toilet papering the library on the security camera, and he/the administration dole out a punishment: Noel has to restock toilet paper in all bathrooms on campus. Ben and Felicity make up, although Felicity hasn't told him what is going on with Noel. Javier has chest pains and is brought to the hospital, requiring Felicity to manage Dean and Deluca in his absence. Amid all the awkwardness with Noel, Felicity asks him to help out at Dean and Deluca, and he saves the day at the cafe as a steamer on the fritz wreaks havoc. But then Noel revokes her Seattle job offer when he finds out Ben would come with her. Noel finally sets a boundary with Felicity: He can't be friends with her right now. DeForrest invites Elena for a fun night out at karaoke. When he declines coming back to her place to avoid dealing with “proving time,” he frustrates Elena, who tells him off. DeForrest gets vulnerable with her about his past, and they kiss. Meghan tries and fails to resist going to therapy with Sean. The session with Dr. Zwick (Teri Garr) brings major insecurities to light, along with some compassion and strange therapeutic exercises. In the end the whole group comes together at Sean's bar mitzvah. Noel gets the Seattle job, and he offers Felicity a job for the summer. Richard is on the hunt to prevent senior pranks and inadvertently gives Noel the bright idea to toilet paper the library with Felicity. All is fun and games until Richard sees Noel on the security footage. Avery tells Noel that something happened with Ben in Southampton, fueling Noel's frustration. Avery overdoses on pills to get Ben's attention. Ben is called to her bedside, and she does what she can to try to suck him back him. When Ben finds the break-up kit, it all results in a huge blow-up between Ben, Felicity, and Noel where Ben's inability to say no to Avery and Noel's love for Felicity are called out. The result of the fight? Ben finally says good-bye to Avery, and Noel kisses Felicity and tells her he has feelings for her. Elena's apartment is too noisy for studying for the MCATs, so DeForrest offers to share his hotel room. When Elena avoids a kiss from him, he flees. But then Elena pushes herself to kiss DeForrest, and he sends her away. Sean's going to have a Bar Mitzvah, and he invites his rabbi over for dinner. When Meghan meets Rabbi Levin – a beautiful woman who seems to have a lot in common with Sean – she gets jealous. Sean asks Meghan to see a couples counselor with him. It's the Rorschach test of Felicity episodes! Felicity and Ben are on the rocks, and Felicity is angry-painting up a storm. Noel spends the entire episode trying to cheer her up between fits of Felicity dropping everything to meet Ben. Felicity suggests that she and Ben take a break (not realizing that sounded like a break up), and Ben goes to Southampton with Avery to think. Felicity follows him to declare her love for him - and fails. Noel makes Felicity a homemade “break-up kit” and Eunice Crane's beef stew to cheer her up. He is just about to profess his love to her when Ben returns from Southampton to make up with Felicity. Molly is back from the UK, and she brought mud masks! She gives Elena a facial, and the product somehow burns Elena's corneas. Elena is temporarily blinded, and Molly becomes her guide. In class, a friendly student – DeForrest – offers to take notes for Elena. Elena is attracted to DeForrest's voice and kindness, and Molly doesn't tell Elena that DeForrest is overweight. Meghan conducts a séance for her dead dog, Pickles, and ropes in non-believer Sean to participate. Sean makes fun of the ceremony, and Meghan fakes being possessed by Sean's dead grandmother to get back at him, making up a gift his grandmother left for him. Sean gets one up on her by pretending that he really did find cash in his grandmother's closet and inspires her to buy something nice for herself, which she does…with his credit card. Tomorrow Is The Problem PodcastWelcome to the ICA Miami Podcast. Each season, we'll explore familiar concepts from everyday life that we often take for granted. We'll expand these concepts to understand their critical historical and cultural underpinnings and forever change the way you view them.Oceanic Ways of KnowingThe focus of this first season is the ocean as a source of knowledge. Understanding identity and history inevitably requires a study of the seas, the communities it affects, and the secrets it was made to hold in the deep. The Sea Is FutureThe sea isn't the exclusive domain of History, it also nourishes the ebbs and flows of the futures we could build. The wordless work of Drexciya provided a new means to explore racialized narratives and reappropriate cultural works, join our guests as they explore the 3 decades of communal world-building.Time stamps + Takeaways[0:00] A visit to Drexciya: the underwater bubble metropolis of the future made alive by aquatic warriors, a free people whose roots can be traced back to Africa.[4:16] Abu Qadim Haqq shares the genesis of Drexciya, the sinking of trans-Atlantic slave ships carrying pregnant mothers… and what a day in the life of modern day Drexciyans might look like.[8:45] The deeply unexplored oceans gave rise to the possibilities of a strong counter-narrative when it comes to the fate of the 2 million black lives lost to the horrors of the middle passage.[12:07] DeForrest Brown Jr. shares his involvement in the great 3 decade long communal world-building exercise of Drexciya and touches on how the duo inspired his upcoming book.[16:08] DeForrest explains how the remains of the great music industrial complex left behind by MoTown enabled the birthing of Drexciya and free jazz techno as a black musical genre.[18:50] European techno has come to be what is known as “techno” DeForrest touches on his Make Techno Black Again project.[20:06] Katherine Mckittrick frames music's — and Drexciya's — relationship to non-linear narrative, to the unknown and unbound, in opposition to the European need to know and acquire knowledge. She also talks about the importance of adding creative works to archival memory.[23:02] Katherine speaks to works like The Black Atlantic and Drexciya as a metaphor and a geography for navigating the diaspora as well as its relationship to water.[25:00] Drexciya's lyricless story provides a different way to enter a discussion about race, Katherine explains how this openness takes us elsewhere without any map at all.[27:00] Katherine shares her thoughts on the possibilities of “belonging” to the sea, as opposed to the land, as well as how Afro-Futurism can think the world no-linearly — like Drexciya's alternate present narrative.[32:30] Episode 3 is next: Transoceanic Relations.Contributors + GuestsDonna Honarpisheh / Assistant Curator and Host.Abu Qadim Haqq / Illustrator and Artist.DeForrest Brown Jr. / Rythmanalyst, Media Theorist, and Curator.Katherine Mckittrick / Professor (Gender Studies) and Writer. This podcast was made in partnership with Podfly Productions.
