Tis the season! The guys present their Christmas episode with regular recurring Christmas guest Mariah Lirette as they discuss the Disney Plus Exclusive Home Sweet Home Alone. Does this movie really think that making the 'burglars' into a likeable cute family was the appropriate update for this film? Why does the movie keep forgetting that Jeff is a computer genius when he can't figure out simple mechanics? Why does this movie waste nothing roles on so many talented comedians? And could that Devin Ratray cameo be even MORE embarrassing? Next week: we unlock the Patreon Vault for a special Holiday episode. Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger, author of Blessed Mode: 90 Days to Level Up Your Faith) joins us to discuss his early career as a 90's Nickelodeon star and the major life events that shaped him into the man of faith he is today. He details his class clown and theatre beginnings, finding his comedy partner in Kenan Thompson, and the impact of the diversity shown on All That. Kel draws comparisons between his childhood in the southside of Chicago where he lost loved ones to gun and gang violence and the trauma young celebrities face in Hollywood. He discusses getting married at an early age and dealing with anxiety stemming from confusion over whether people loved him for his comedy characters or his true self. Kel opens up about his suicide attempt, how his faith led him to pursue a path toward mental wellness, and his journey to becoming a youth pastor. Mayim and Kel consider the mental health impact of living in communities touched by violence and intergenerational trauma. Mayim explains the long-term effects of complicated grief on the brain in another installment of Ask Mayim Anything. Tennis legend Billie Jean King is known for winning a record 20 Wimbledon titles and defeating Bobby Riggs in the 1973 "Battle of the Sexes." Her new book is 'All In: An Autobiography.'TV critic David Bianculli reviews 'Nine Perfect Strangers' on Hulu. Kenan Thompson joined the 'SNL' cast in 2003, making him the longest-running cast member on the show. We'll talk about his sitcom 'Kenan' and some of his more memorable 'SNL' sketches.
Thompson is currently nominated for two Emmys — one for starring in his sitcom 'Kenan,' and another for 'Saturday Night Live.' He also talks about playing the Bill Cosby character Fat Albert in a 2004 movie, and later feeling disappointed by Cosby. "He was a prime example of a career that I wanted to have," Thompson says. "I felt super betrayed."Also, Maureen Corrigan reviews 'Agatha Of Little Neon,' a novel about nuns that she calls "sharp and, by turns, melancholy and wry."
