This week on the podcast we are going to talk baseball with Steve Scheers. Steve is one of the backbones behind Delhi Minor Baseball, not to mention, one of the coaches of the Delhi Tigers bantam team that won the town’s first bantam Southern counties title in 34 years over the weekend. He talks about his team's accomplishment, how it's affected the association and community. Scheers also talks a little more about baseball, new pitching rules, and how Delhi has really taken ownership of its recreation facilities . SHOUT OUTS First big shout out goes to the Norfolk County Roller Derby team. With two big wins on home turf on the weekend, the local roller derby team captured the Southern Ontario Derby Association B division title. This capped off an amazing season for this group of women, that also saw them featured in a documentary for Eastlink TV, called Down and Derby. I was hoping to have someone from the team on the show this week. Hopefully we can make it happen after the long weekend. A huge shout out to the Simcoe Giants peewee tier 1 team. This group of kids were in Toronto, playing at the CNE Tournament and lost in the semifinal to Mississauga North AAA. The Giants were exactly that in this tournament, finishing fourth in a 32 team tournament featuring some of the best A, AA and AAA teams in the province. Finally, a shout out goes out to the Six Nations Rivermen. This lacrosse team is currently in Kahnawake, PQ, and are undefeated so far in the Presidents Cup tournament, where they are battling for the Canadian Senior B title. Thank you so much for listening. It really is appreciated. Make sure to go to the Smart Sports Podcast Facebook page, and then like and share it with your friends so we can keep growing this thing. Thank you!

That aside, she happens be a sister to Sally (featured in season 1), lives in Halifax, and welcomed me into her home on a snowy day in February to enjoy a savoury, warming, filling, earthy bowl of miso soup. Her soup is a variation on the Walnut Miso Broth with Udon Noodles recipe in Anna Jones' beautiful book A Modern Way to Eat. (I currently have it checked out of the library. It's beautiful and full of simple, delicious food. Yes, please!) We chat about my favourite episode of her podcast so far which inspired what she chose to make for us (using sea vegetables!). My guest on this episode is fellow Canadian Corey Poirier. Corey is a keynote speaker, sales professional, entrepreneur, and the host of Conversations with Passion Radio Show where he has interviewed over 4,000 Super-Achievers. He has been featured in TV specials on Eastlink TV and TeleTelevision and is also a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine. A passionate speaker who wants to share with people his craft, Corey is behind the Passion Cure and The Speaking Program. It is through these avenues that he reaches out to people, coach those who are interested in developing their communication skills, and feature those who have been successful in their life's passions. Now Corey and I had a similar detour in our lives before we ended up with what we're doing now, and that is just one of the things we chatted about in this episode. Other areas we've touched on are: His journey starting with a career in sales, then shifting to stand-up comedy before finally transitioning into his passion for public speaking (2:20). Our similar background in performance arts, and things that we didn't enjoy as much in that field (5:50). How people's feedback propelled him into diving into passion as a speaker (10:43). What people fear when it comes to communicating and public speaking, and how to get comfortable on-stage (15:48). The importance of tackling tasks and goals in small chunks that are easily achievable – whether in public speaking or productivity – until you're ready to take on the big one (19:49). How having a buddy to practice whatever it is that you're passionate about or want to conquer gives you higher chances of success (20:40). The structure of The Speaking Program which guides the participants from conquering their fear, launching their career, up to earning in the business, plus a community and subject matter experts to share their knowledge, experiences, and insights (21:55). Questions to ask one's self to help find your true passion, and how to take that first ‘baby-step' towards living that passion. (13:25; 25:31). A productivity reminder to ensure that pursuing your passion is not interrupted and becomes successful (28:03).
