Filmmaker Meosha Bean sits down with actor and producer Joe Staton, writer and entrepreneur Lauren Staton, and director Chloe Champken following their recent BBC feature highlighting their upcoming stage productionlink --BBC new articleThe conversation explores the origins of Snazaroo and Lauren's journey building a globally recognized brand, alongside the personal story that inspired her memoir A Snazzy Tale. The Project:In the 1980s, my parents founded Snazaroo, the first major face-painting company. Their products have since achieved global distribution and recognition. My mother later sold the company in 2004, and my father passed away in 1997.Around 2018/2019, my mother authored a book titled A Snazzy Tale, which chronicles her journey. Inspired by her story, I have written a stage play based on the book. The production is scheduled to premiere at the New York Theatre Festival this summer, with plans to bring it to England in the future. There are also ongoing discussions to adapt the play for the screenBioLauren Staton is a British entrepreneur and writer best known for co-founding Snazaroo, the globally recognised face-painting brand she built from the ground up in 1984, authoring six face-painting manuals before selling the company in 2004. She has since turned her storytelling instincts to the written word, capturing the Snazaroo journey in her memoir A Snazzy Tale, and continues to channel her entrepreneurial spirit through Daadi Organics, a social enterprise empowering women in Jaipur through sustainable fashion.Joe Staton is a British actor and producer based in New York City, currently making his debut as a playwright with Snazzy  a stage adaptation of his mother Lauren Staton's memoir about co-founding Snazaroo, the globally recognised face-painting brand. Presented by RiffRaff NYC, the company he co-founded and co-directs, Snazzy premieres at the New York Theatre Festival this July. A classically trained actor with credits spanning Shakespeare, Chekhov, and new work across New York and regional theatre, Joe trained at Italia Conti in London and the Stella Adler Studio in New York, and is a company member of Ensemble Shakespeare Company. This summer he'll appear in Ensemble's production of Julius Caesar. Snazzy marks his most personal project to date.Chloe Champken is a British director and actor based in New York City, whose work spans new writing, classical theatre, and the Edinburgh Fringe. A graduate of drama school in London and New York, Chloe co-founded Crowded Space, a British theatre company in New York, and is a company member of Ensemble Shakespeare Company, where she also serves as associate director on this summer's Julius Caesar at The Flea. Her ongoing creative partnership with Joe Staton has taken in productions including Knock Knock and The Rainmaker, and she now takes the helm on Snazzy bringing the remarkable true story of Snazaroo to the New York stage for the first time. In August she heads to Edinburgh to direct Michael Reid's one-man show Safety at the Fringe, making 2026 a landmark year for one of British theatre's most exciting emerging directors.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

Make a folder on the card, say "Video Parent". Put the .nomedia file in that folder. Make another folder off of "Video Parent" called, say "Ted's Videos". Put all the video files in there (in nested folder structure if you like), then get VLC (or other players) to reindex from that folder, not the first. So Google Photos (and the Android system) ignores "Ted's Videos" (because of the .nomedia file in that folder) and the thumbnails are not littered through the Google Photos App. And VLC (and any other Media Playing app) is happy once pointed to Ted's Videos (and sub-folders) and indexed again. The trick was nesting one folder in another and putting the .nomedia file in the first one, then flowing the nest of folders further down the tree. Recorded at Skip Paige's Little Bar, this episode of Big Conversations, Little Bar with Patrick Evans & Randy Florence welcomes musician, actor, and award-winning composer Tommy Fields for a wide-ranging conversation about creativity, career pivots, and life in the desert. Tommy shares how growing up in small-town Indiana led to guitars, garage bands, and a leap to Los Angeles with little more than a one-way ti cket and a dream. He reflects on early hustle—music school, odd jobs, and club gigs—before finding his lane writing for TV, film, and commercials, including a fast-paced world of two-to-five-week scoring deadlines. The hosts dig into his inspirations, from Back to the Future-era orchestral storytelling to the quirky magic of Danny Elfman, and Tommy breaks down his writing process between piano and studio. He also tells the unreal story of nearly becoming the lead singer of Velvet Revolver, and why life ultimately steered him toward composing.Takeaways:A small-town upbringing can still lead to big creative careers with persistence.Moving to L.A. required hustle: school, odd jobs, and immediate band work.Film/TV scoring often runs on intense deadlines—sometimes just two weeks.Tommy's process starts with script themes, then moves between piano and studio.Classic composers shaped his approach: strong themes and scene-by-scene storytelling.Rock-band experience can translate into scoring, as many composers began in bands. He nearly fronted Velvet Revolver, but the band chose a different direction.Desert living helps balance high-pressure work with a calmer day-to-day rhythm.#BigConversationsLittleBarPodcast #PatrickEvans #RandyFlorence #SkipsLittleBar #MutualBroadcastingSystem #CoachellaValleyResidents #SkipPaige #McCallumTheatre #TommyFields #Musician #Actor #FilmComposer #TVScoring #MovieScores #VelvetRevolver #DannyElfman #JohnWilliams #IndianaToLA #DesertLife #CreativeProcess #NikkiBoyer

I had the great pleasure of meeting Jennifer Estin when I signed at the terrific online classes for the Annoyance, Improv Fiend! https://improvfiend.com We chatted about her childhood and how her mother created games that inspired her to pursue acting. Jennifer Estlin has been involved in the entertainment business as an actress and producer since 1986. Following her graduation from Northwestern University's School of Speech in 1987, she traveled to Edinburgh Scotland with the production of André Gregory's Alice! directed by David Schwimmer. Afterward, she spent three months traveling all over Europe until deciding to settle for awhile in Paris, where she earned her living singing on the Parisian Metro for close to a year. Upon returning to Chicago, Jennifer spent several years working in many of Chicago's theatres including The Annoyance, Northlight, and The Body Politic. She toured for two years with Second City's National Touring company and was a company member on a Second City resident stage prior to moving to New York in 1994. There, she continued her career by working in regional theatres around the country, Off-Broadway theatre, film, and television. She returned to Chicago in 2002 to become President, Executive Producer and owner of the Annoyance Theatre, and continues to work on film, television and stage. Jennifer has appeared as recurring characters Judge Cohen on Proven Innocent and Cathy Briscoe on NBC's Law and Order, and also in shows such as Chicago PD, Empire, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Exit 57, and in several national and regional commercials. Her feature film credits include the soon to be released (Fall 2024) Everything Fun You Could Possibly Do in Aledo, Illinois (for which she received Best Actress award at the Star City Film Festlval), The Eyes, iMurders, Chicago Boricua, and Volcano, and the award winning short films A Million Miles Away,(Sundance) and The Cure (Slamdance). You can learn more about Jennifer at https://www.jenniferestlin.com

EPISODE 586 - Noël Stark - Steamy, Sassy, Smart Romance - Love, Camera, ActionAbout Noël StarkLOVE, CAMERA, ACTION is Noël Stark's debut novel. She's worked in almost every position in the Film/TV industry, both in front of and behind the camera. Although she's Canadian, she lives in L.A. with her young son, desperately missing winter. She likes chocolate milk in her coffee and gets most of her real world intel from her three step kids.Love, Camera, ActionUp-and-coming TV director Cali Daniels knows sex. Well, okay, she knows how to shoot sex scenes, and she's been hired to direct a highly anticipated steamy episode of the popular series The Demon. This job is her chance at a big-time career in the film and television industry—all she has to do is deliver an unparalleled show using her hard-knocks know-how and ample creativity. If only the director of photography—effortlessly sexy Jory Blair—would stop shutting her ideas down at every turn. Jory has spent years cultivating his career as an A-list director of photography, but a recent health scare has him rethinking his life and craving the director spot. Now this creative newbie, who he can't get out of his mind, wants to change the look of his show. Even worse, the friction between them is sparking into blistering chemistry. As collaborating takes on a whole new meaning, and the show's producer not-so-subtly suggests that Jory sabotage Cali in order to achieve his own goals, they'll have to decide if chasing their dream jobs is worth losing the dream of a future together. Fans of How to Fake It in Hollywood and Plot Twist will devour this steamy, enemies to lovers, workplace, debut romance.https://www.noelstark.com/Support the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca
