What do we say is important about real estate? Location. Location. Location. For the real estate of the Church in the world it's all about Reputation, Reputation, Reputation. These Virtues the Apostle Paul speaks of in 1 Timothy 3 aren't spoken of in a vacuum as if he preferred some believers over others. Paul is concerned about the future witness of the Gospel and King Jesus in a world that will look for light as well as love darkness. How should we understand these lists of Paul?
Should the leading of a nation be left to professionals only, where mature but unpaid leaders need not prioritize the development of culture? We all know the answer to this. …In Moses, in Jesus, and in Paul the priority of developing the Word of God remain the top priority.
As we continue our look at 1 Timothy, Pastor Jim describes the differences between Elders and Deacons and Paul's expectations for each role. We also discuss how churches should think about these roles and qualifications and how you can use the list to evaluate yourself, recognizing areas of continual growth.
What is a trustworthy saying? If one aspires to the office of overseer. One who really cares about the brethren, like the apostle Paul cared for the churches…this is what develops in Timothy's mind as Paul writes regarding proper leaders.
What is an elder anyway? Why are they needed? And what's the difference between elders and deacons?
Have you ever considered the use of the title ‘elder' or ‘deacon' and how these titles might differ in their role in the church? Dr. Mark Dever, senior pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church, discusses the roles of each in this interview. (Original date: Jan 15, 2002)
Nominations for our 2022 Leadership began this Sunday. We, therefore, paused our current series through 1 Peter to do an overview of elders and deacons in the New Testament.
Elders are to be men of Christ-like character who are to be servant-leaders in the church, and deacons are to be men of Christ-like character who are to be leading-servants in the church. Both elders and deacons, along with the whole body of Christ...
Steve Olsen, Andrew Self, and Drew Taylor discuss some practical implications from our past two sermons on elders and deacons in the life of the church.
Don Stubbs, Josh Nims & Terri Johnson tackle the text and questions our members have asked concerning eldership, deacons, and women in ministry.
Galatians 6:1-9 It may be a surprise to you if you haven't been listening long, but the New Testament never connects Elders with church discipline, and that is demonstrated again in this passage, as Paul urges that restoration from sin be handled by Spirit-filled individuals, not title-holders or men in offices.

Brad Arnold & Greg Peterson (pastors of Anchor Bible Church in NW Arkansas) discuss the New Testament's understanding of the qualifications of elders & deacons and how how those define their responsibilities in the local church.

A challenge for Elders Deacons and You to Be a Servant Leader in Today's Culture
This week in my appointments with people and through emails, I received several positive comments about last week's service. Most said they never really knew what the Bible said about how a church is to be structured. Yes, they had heard bits and pieces over the years, but never really saw how it all fit together until last week. Many said they now understand why Christianity is not a democracy, why we don't vote in church, the importance of Elders & Deacons, and why the Pastor gift needs to be kept in perspective; not from a traditional view, but a Biblical view. Looking forward to the best part as we install our new Elders & Deacons this Sunday. Please join us as we publicly affirm their calling.

THE CHURCH. It stands at the very centre of God's plans for the world. But what is it? What makes a church...a church? What is its purpose? What is its mission? How is it to be organised biblically? And does any of this actually really matter?Sadly, we do not live in a time and place where the church of Jesus Christ is esteemed, even among God's people. But it has not always been this way. If we stood on the shoulders of faithful men who have gone before us we would see what they saw. We would realise the church, to quote Charles Spurgeon, is “The Dearest Place on Earth”.So what happened?

In God's continuing instruction to the local church through Paul's letter to Timothy, qualifications are listed for those who would serve as pastors, elders, or deacons. And even though few will serve the church in these roles, ALL in the church must see their role as one of setting an example for others to follow. Join Pastor Gary today as we study from 1 Timothy 3-4.
