In this jam-packed episode, Clay kicks things off with a lively recap of his night at the inaugural Mississippi Mud Monsters minor league baseball game in Pearl. From the vibrant turquoise-and-black uniforms to the family-friendly fun, Clay paints a vivid picture of a team bringing excitement back to Central Mississippi's baseball scene. He shares hilarious anecdotes, like navigating a wardrobe malfunction in the gift shop while snagging a stylish Mud Monsters hat, and reflects on the team's opening night growing pains with a crowd of over 4,500. Clay's enthusiasm is infectious as he urges listeners to support the Mud Monsters, emphasizing their role in creating affordable, fun outings before the Mississippi heat sets in.   But Clay doesn't stop at sports. He dives into a thoughtful analysis of why minor league baseball struggles in Central Mississippi, citing the region's competitive recreational landscape. From travel ball commitments to the allure of college baseball at Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Southern Miss, Clay argues that the demographic most likely to attend games—families and young athletes—is often stretched thin. His solution? Market the Mud Monsters as a family-friendly spectacle where fun, food, and drinks take center stage, with baseball as a delightful bonus. It's a compelling case for reimagining minor league baseball's appeal in the South. The episode takes a sharp turn into Clay's signature “free-for-all” territory as he tackles a range of topics with his trademark candor. He plugs local businesses like Martin's Livingston and Acme Pizza & Daiquiris, offering mouthwatering recommendations for Fried Chicken Fridays and specialty pizzas that make for perfect weekend outings. Clay also gives a shout-out to Ric Flair's upcoming appearance at Southern Sky Brands, humorously noting the catch for fans wanting to meet the wrestling legend. His passion for local culture shines through as he challenges the notion that “there's nothing to do” in Jackson, pointing to a vibrant scene of concerts, dining, and sports that rivals bigger cities.   Never one to shy away from controversy, Clay wades into a “light-hearted” discussion sparked by a Twitter debate about a hypothetical race war in America. While firmly dismissing the idea as absurd and undesirable, he engages with the topic to highlight its futility, pointing out the diversity of perspectives within communities and the unlikelihood of such a conflict. Clay's commentary is both provocative and reflective, urging accountability and higher standards across cultures while rejecting divisive narratives. He also addresses the Tyre Nichols case in Memphis, critiquing media narratives that frame the verdict through a racial lens, and calls out local news outlets for their selective reporting on issues like Brad Arnold's cancer diagnosis.   Sprinkled throughout are Clay's personal anecdotes, from his love of live music (reminiscing about $17.50 Metallica tickets in 1989) to his frustration with Ticketmaster fees. He celebrates Rankin County's transformation into Central Mississippi's entertainment hub, citing events like Pearl Day and concerts at the Brandon Amphitheater, and contrasts it with Jackson's fading cultural dominance. The episode wraps with a nod to upcoming guests like Dr. Spencer Mills and a call to action for listeners to engage with the show's social media.   The Clay Edwards Show is a rollercoaster of humor, insight, and unfiltered opinions, offering a unique lens on Jackson's challenges and triumphs. Whether you're a local looking for weekend plans or a listener tuning in for Clay's take-no-prisoners style, this episode delivers. Catch it live on 103.9 WYAB or stream on SaveJXN, and join the conversation by sharing, liking, or dropping a comment. As Clay says, “You don't get this kind of content anywhere else!” Note on Positive Solutions: The transcript's reference to “too many positive solutions” is a sarcastic jab at critics who demand feel-good answers without addressing gritty realities. Clay's approach—highlighting local events, supporting businesses, and calling for community accountability—offers practical positivity grounded in tough love, not sugarcoated platitudes. The episode balances critique with celebration, proving there's no shortage of solutions when you're willing to confront the issues head-on.

We forced local mainstream media outlets to cover the announcement that 3 Doors Down leads singer Brad Arnold has stage 4 cancer because they were set to completely ignore until we called them out on this show and online. This topic led to me explaining how and why this platform not only exist but thrives because local media refuses to cover stories people actually care about and refuse to cater to the conservative majority in central Mississippi while pandering to the minority and hiring out of state talent that use us as a stepping stone to bigger markets.

This week's lead news story is the just-announced 2025 Ford Mustang GTD that Ford Motor Company says is the pinnacle of Mustang engineering. As we discuss in this week's episode, it's hard to argue that. The Mustang GTD delivers a mind-blowing 815 horsepower, 664 pound-feet of torque, and a riveting top speed of 202 mph. The fastest street-legal Mustang ever boasts advanced features that include active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a sophisticated suspension system. One goal of the new Mustang standard-bearer is achieving a sub-seven-minute lap at Nürburgring. Powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, the GTD appears to have the goods to do just that. With the dry-sump oil system, its engine offers enhanced lubrication during high-speed cornering and revs up to 7,650 rpm. If that's not enough, the Mustang GTD also incorporates a specialized drag reduction system that enables it to adjust its aerodynamics to optimize speed and grip based on driving conditions — a pretty nice trick. Co-Host Chris Teague and Host Jack Nerad will react to the newest Ford sup0ercar in this episode. In our road tests this week, Chris Teague will evaluate another vehicle from an American brand, the 2025 Dodge Hornet. The Hornet is designed to help Dodge turn the page from its musclecar — and some would say muscle-bound — past. Its goal is to maintain the brand's performance image but putting it in a new context. Chris and Jack will discuss if it lives up to that billing. The Ford Ranger Lariat 4x4 with the FX4 package is the subject of our other road test this week. The newest Ranger marks Ford's renewed interest in the midsize truck segment here in North America, and it comes amidst a flurry of new midsize pickups from both domestic and import automakers. Jack and Chris will describe how they believe it stacks up. This week, our special guest is Brad Arnold, a top-ranking Hyundai designer in North America. At a recent event in central California, he and Host Jack Nerad sat down for a lengthy discussion of the heavily revised 2025 Hyundai Tucson and 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz. We're sure you'll enjoy our discussion. In the news this week, we'll be talking about something that seems too good to be true. Would you lease a brand-new EV if the monthly payment was $20? That's happening right now, and we'll tell you more about it coming up. In other news, Volvo is ditching its vehicle subscription plan after several years of lackluster interest from the public. We'll have more on that, and we'll talk about a Toyota Prius hypermiler who just set a Guiness World record for fuel economy in a drive from coast to coast. So we have a lot of show for you this week. Thanks for joining us. And please don't forget to look for our content on YouTube and Rumble. If you subscribe, it will help us bring you even more. Hey it's Arroe. This is Play It Forward. A look at the unexpected changes endured by entertainers, writers, camera people and all others affected but not infected by the global invasion of the Coronavirus. Real people. Real stories. The struggle to Play It Forward. Episode 103:3 Doors Down front man and celebrated songwriter, Brad Arnold was preparing earlier this year to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the band's 2000 debut album The Better Life. But with the pandemic putting the band's plans on hold, Brad used his quarantine time to write and record his first ever solo record “Wicked Man.” Brad was inspired to write “Wicked Man” about the times we're currently. Brad sings: “They keep us entertained inside a world before our eyes/A never-ending circus to distract us from their lies.” That's Play It Forward. Up first, it's Jared Weeks from Saving Abel. We stared off the conversation by talking about playing for the troops overseas.  He talked about leaving and rejoining the band. Jared's always been very candid about his struggles. Leaving the band was self-preservation. ""I just didn't have the tools to live in reality at the volume of 11." He had to get himself together, through therapy and more, to straighten up his life.  He tells me what the other guys in the band have going on. New music? Yes, it's coming. He talked about the cover song that he did with the band No Resolve. As far as Saving Abel, the single called "Baptize Me" drops on April 14th. "We've focused more on hard riff, double bass, more rock and roll type music." He said the music has more of a mission and purpose. He became very emotional when I brought up the passing of Wayne Swinny from Saliva. Wayne was a great friend to many in the music business, Saving Abel no exception. Jared told a story of joining the Wayne on stage last year.  That's just for starters with Jared...... Brad Arnold from 3 Doors Down and Kevin Martin from Candlebox joined me to talk about their summer tour, which stops here on June 21st at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater. Kevin confirmed this will be the last proper tour for his band. "I've been threatening this for a long time." He said the pandemic really pushed him towards his decision. He went into more on that and how touring forced him to miss out on much of his family life. Brad gave me his thoughts on his last tour. "I've thought about it before, but I got to where it's fun again." He talked about being on tour before he got sober "It got to be not fun!" Even though Kevin is retiring from touring, that doesn't mean that things will stop for him. He still plans on doing charity shows and new music, with a documentary on the horizon. "It's time for me to say goodbye to this (touring) lifestyle." They tell me which they prefer - an outdoor shed vs. and indoor show. Kevin talked about touring with RUSH and what he learned from that tour that he still does today, thirty years later. He also talked about being joined by at least one original member through some of the final shows. Brad talked about being the last original member from the inception of the band. "By the grace of God. Man, we've had some bad stuff happen. Either one of those situations that happened to those other guys, could've happened to me." -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/shows/meltdown-on-wrif/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
