What is the clearest evidence that God lives among us? Is it our preaching, our programs, our music, our confession, or even our acts of charity? Or is it our love for one another? Has our church attendance produced the visible fruit of love? In John's writings, we see how the unseen God made His love visible in Christ and how that same love must now be made visible in His people. John presses us to examine whether God's abiding love is truly in us if it does not move outward toward our church family. The world cannot see God. But it can see the church. And Jesus says our love for one another will reveal who we belong to. Join us Sunday as we consider the missional call of loving one another. Pastor Devan Scollon

Now in its eighth year, Made Visible reflects CAW's ongoing commitment to equity, representation, and amplifying underrepresented voices through the visual arts. Curated by Hamden-based artist, writer, and educator Shaunda Holloway, A Lion Speaks draws inspiration from the African proverb, “Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter.” The exhibition centers self-authored narratives—honoring lived experience, cultural memory, and creative resistance. As Holloway explains, “Telling our stories for ourselves, sharing our resistance in all its facets, and encouraging others to continue preserving our stories in spite of systemic erasure is what A Lion Speaks is about.” The exhibition features work by 25 local and regional artists spanning painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, mixed media, video, textiles, and fiber arts. Participating Artists A Lion Speaks features the work of 25 local and regional artists whose practices reflect deeply personal and politically resonant narratives. Together, these artists reclaim authorship and visibility, giving voice to stories that have too often been marginalized. Creative Arts Workshop is honored to present work by: Faustin Adeniran, Jean Benoit, Marquis Brantley Sr., Leigh Busby, Shari Caldwell-Young, Siobhan Carter-David, Robert Cooper Jr., Chelsea DeBerry, Ricardo de Paula, Demeree Douglas, Lydia Douglas, Kayla Hall, Iman Uqdah Hameen, David Jackson, Fethi Meghelli, Linda Mickens, Dana Monique, Rory D.L. Moorer, Aisha Nailah, Adeyinka Ogunlowo, Thelma Raney, Brandon Ricketts, Portia Scott-Thiam, Arvia Walker, and Reginald Woolery. We are deeply grateful to these artists for sharing their work, their voices, and their visions with our community. Free Public Workshop As part of the exhibition's public programming, Creative Arts Workshop will host a free, hands-on mixed-media workshop led by nationally recognized fiber artist Ed Johnetta Miller. Saturday, March 14, 2026 Hilles Gallery, Creative Arts Workshop Free and open to the public | All skill levels welcome This community-based workshop invites participants to explore storytelling and creative expression through an improvisational approach. From Genesis to John, this sermon traces the story of a God who creates out of delight, draws near in love, and refuses to give up on his people—even when he's rejected. When humanity writes itself out of the story through sin, God writes himself in through Jesus, becoming flesh to bring us back home. This is Christmas: love made visible, inviting us to receive Christ and carry his light into the world.Catch the sermon on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or bridge.tv/sermons.To support this ministry and help us continue our God given mission, click here: http://bit.ly/2NZkdrC Support the show

WISDOM MADE VISIBLE WISDOM FROM BELOW WISDOM FROM ABOVE 1 Corinthians 8:1–3 (ESV) we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God. James 2:18 (ESV) But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. Numbers 12:3 (ESV) Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 32:2 (ESV) May my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, like gentle rain upon the tender grass, and like showers upon the herb. Proverbs 9:9 (ESV) Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. Thomas Manton There are two sins which were Christ's sorest enemies, covetousness and envy. Covetousness sold Christ, and envy delivered him. These two sins are still enemies to Christian profession. Covetousness maketh us to sell religion, and envy to persecute it. Mark 8:36–37 (ESV) For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? James 1:14–15 (ESV) But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. Romans 11:36 (ESV) For from him and through him and to him are all things. Genesis 1:26-27 NLT26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.1 John 4:7-21 NRSV7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Saviour of the world. 15 God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God.16 So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgement, because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Those who say, ‘I love God', and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister[c] whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 21 The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.

In this episode of The Nancy Grandquist Podcast we continue our series, "We Worship One God," with this discussion with Pastor Nathaniel Haney. The conversation delves into the concept of the oneness of God, exploring the identity and image of Jesus Christ both before and after Bethlehem. [27:56] Pastor Haney articulates the idea that God has always had a visible image, which was present even before the creation of the world, and this image is the same as Jesus Christ. He explains how this image was the focal point for communication with God, serving as the visible representation of the invisible God. The discussion covers various biblical passages, including Colossians, Philippians, and John, to support the idea that Jesus is the image of God and the creator of all things. [21:36] Pastor Haney also touches on the theological implications of understanding Jesus as the fullness of God, emphasizing the importance of this revelation for worship and prayer.------------Timestamped Chapters Chapter 1: Introduction and Historical Context  00:13 - 01:43Chapter 2: The Oneness Truth and Vision  01:43 - 02:40Chapter 3: The Identity of Jesus Before and After Bethlehem 02:40 - 06:14Chapter 4: The Magnitude of God and His Spirit 06:14 - 10:33Chapter 5: The Image of God and Its Role 10:33 - 19:03Chapter 6: Biblical References to the Image of God 19:03 - 29:41Chapter 7: The Word Made Flesh 29:41 - 39:47Chapter 8: Personal Experiences and Revelations 39:47 - 48:41Chapter 9: The Role of Angels and Spiritual Battles 48:41 - 50:37 Chapter 10: Conclusion and Call to Action 50:37 - 01:03:32

Guest Colleen Kelley Creating fun and accessible chemistry stories has been a labor of love for Colleen, as a retired chemistry professor and author of a series of kid's chemistry comic books. In 2023, the PBS short documentary, “Comic Book Chemistry,” was awarded an Emmy. Colleen holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Penn State University and was a tenured professor with research expertise in environmental toxicology, medicinal chemistry, and chemistry education. Why This Episode Matters In this interview, Dr. Colleen discusses her journey from teaching college chemistry to developing "molecular literacy" programs for children ages 4-10. Inspired by her childhood experience with the Three Mile Island incident and challenges teaching college students, she created comic books with character-based storytelling to make chemistry accessible. She believes building neural pathways for understanding chemistry symbols early helps overcome traditional learning barriers and promotes lifelong scientific curiosity. Three Important Takeaways Chemistry education faces significant challenges, with a 50% failure rate among college students, often because they lack foundational understanding of molecular symbols and concepts. Teaching "molecular literacy" through storytelling and character-based learning engages young learners and creates neural pathways that make advanced chemistry concepts more accessible later in life. Chemistry education should extend beyond traditional classroom settings to help people of all ages (8-108) understand scientific concepts relevant to climate change, health issues, and daily life. Stacy Westfall challenges this approach through a personal story of how a devastating show ring mistake unexpectedly launched her bridleless riding career. Removing emotions from goals may feel safer and more clinical, but those very emotions—both positive and challenging—signal that you're pursuing something meaningful You can feel hopelessly far from success, yet just a few perspective shifts can completely transform your path forward Community matters deeply in horsemanship, whether found in show environments, boarding barns, trail groups, or online programs, providing the structure and support needed for growth This episode demonstrates how embracing both the technical and emotional aspects of horsemanship creates more meaningful goal achievement.
