In this one, I am joined again by the one and only Eric Chesser of HUSH! This week we talk about what Eric has been up to lately, shed hunting, Alaskan Caribou hunts and both of our upcoming Elk Seasons, among other things. Eric is going to to attempt to fill 5 elk tags this year, while my goal is to kill my first and second elk ever! It is always a blast talking to Eric, he is a super positive and energetic guy and I know you will enjoy this conversation!

#48: This week Britt is joined by Ryan Law.  Who is Ryan? He is full time firefighter and live in Utah. He has 3 wonderful kids and 2 awesome bonus kids. He's engaged to the love of his life Stephanie. During his divorce he found himself drinking heavily, isolating himself and was lacking ambition, drive and had hit an all time high in weight at 240 lbs. After an alcohol incident that affected his hunting trip and having to leave work early because he was shaking. he decided to quit cold Turkey and set some goals. he was so determined to not feel like he did anymore. He began using MTN Ops Ammo to replace a meal a day and kept the rest clean. he used MTN Ops ignite to keep energy levels up.  He found some motivational people in Eric Chesser, and Weston McArthur (Rise and Shed) that were doing what he had always dreamed of doing. In three months he had lost 70 lbs, was sober and had finally spent the time in the mountains like he had always wanted to. He became obsessed, you could say, with shed hunting and began finding sheds he had always dreamed of. He somehow in this journey became a content creator. Posting videos he hopes to either make people laugh, be inspired to make changes, and sometimes cry. Because it's ok to not be ok. Eric Chesser has been filming his adventures in the mountains for most of his life documenting everything from hunting, shed hunting, and fishing. He started filming with his first HI 8 video camera at the age 14 and continues to document much of his life today. Eric's had many successful hunts with the “Firebull” archery elk hunt and story of perseverance standing out to many. Eric loves the gym and living a healthy lifestyle and has competed in several fitness events over the years. Not only is he a hunter, and fitness fanatic, he is also an avid entrepreneur as one of the founders of HUSHIN he helped pioneer the Youtube era in the hunting arena.

Casey “LaVere” Butler is a success story. A few years back he decided to leave his 9-to-5 job at a steel mill to do something crazy: create a hunting and fishing YouTube channel. With no assurances he'd make anything of the idea, he took the leap and started Hushin. His friends Eric Chesser and Brian McElrea joined him and together in just a few short years they have created one of hunting's most unheralded media powerhouses. They have a dedicated audience that follows their every move as the crew creates semi-live content from the field. It's raw and unedited, something new to the space.  There's more to Casey than just his branded content. He's a family man, raising four kids with his wife in the mountains of Idaho, and a guy who truly enjoys the experience of hunting. To say Casey comes off as a "regular guy" is no slight. It's easy to relate to his honest approach to capturing his hunts and Hushin's diverse fan base is evidence that his message resonates.   I met up with Casey and Ryan Callaghan from First Lite to chase free-range axis deer in Sonora, Texas. We had a kickass few days dodging chiggers, rattlesnakes and ticks tracking rutting bucks in 100-degree heat. Afterwards we sat down to discuss the dangers of hunting the Lone Star State, success and failure in bowhunting, winning the mental game, and covered some deep topics on life, death and what we can learn about both in hunting.
