Completing the two part tale concerning the murder in September 1994 of 38 year old Carol Wardell - abducted from home by a gang of raiders, who, after beating and drugging her husband Gordon, forced her to open the building society in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, where she was deputy manager, emptied the safe, and then suffocated Carol, dumping her body in a layby. At least, that was Gordon's account, anyway....The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of a sexual nature, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in. George Joseph Smith, robbing & murdering his wives (yes wives, plural) since 1898. He appeared to be a charming and respectable man, luring women into marriage before orchestrating their tragic deaths which became known as the "Brides in the Bath" murders. We follow the investigation led by Detective Inspector Arthur Neil, whose relentless pursuit of justice brought Smith's crimes to light and changed the landscape of forensic science. We also discuss pathologist Sir Bernard Spilsbury and his techniques, including his meticulous autopsy procedures and the infamous bathtub experiment, which provided the crucial evidence needed to convict Smith. We then end our discussion with some information about drowning, including the many different types and how a drowning analysis is carried out. If you have a significant other who you want to bathe more, definitely don't let them listen to listen episode because according to Smith "women have often lost their lives through weak hearts and fainting in the bath"...or do, we don't control you.Interested in learning more about when WTF releases new episodes, contests, and more?

It was inevitable that George Joseph Smith would end up in jail one day. The only question was, how long would it take for his cunning crimes to be uncovered? George was a master of deception who swindled a string of lovers out of their life savings and ensured he was named as the beneficiary in the wills of his many wives. He had a curious obsession with the sea, and it was only fitting that his method of murder would also feature water…Thanks for listening! Until the next rendezvous at the chippy….In this episode the girls discuss their terrifying lack of eyesight while driving at night, there is panic at the Christmas disco, some riveting insurance premium talk takes place during the ad break and there is a very bad no good science experiment conducted by old timey police. Production, recording and post production completed by Holly who has repeatedly told Consulting Producer Craig to stop screaming from the back seat of her car while driving at night. It's distracting. Holly edited this week. All complaints should be sent directly to Mel while Consulting Producer Craig actually considers editing again if Holly lets him out of her car of terror.
