Ten years ago, on Sunday, August 30, 2015, Denise Robert embarked on her routine Sunday night walk. She was shot and killed in that northside neighborhood, in Manchester, NH, the city she grew up in. She was found after neighbors reporrted seeing a person laying in the street. At 62, Denise was active and fit, her walks were a cherished ritual. She radiated a vibrant energy. Denise had always been a beacon of enthusiasm, for art, life, and adventure. She embraced every opportunity. Her passion for exploration was something she shared with her large family; As the oldest of 12, they found common ground in their love for the outdoors. She fostered a sense of adventure with her siblings and together they explored the mountains and trails of New Hampshire. Her death that night in 2015 remains a mystery - to law enforcement, and to everyone who knew her. Denise's murder remains unsolved. New Hampshire Cold Case Unit says it's open and active, that they still receive tips, yet still no suspects, no people of interest exist.Denise was a professional, having worked in sales and advertising for local newspapers for decades, she was not a person with enemies. Denise was simply out for a walk that night to reset for the week ahead. There haven't been any public updates on her case since 2017 when a search took place at a Londonderry property that was related to a man that could have been in the area at the time of her death.I speak to her brother John about her case, updates from the newly expanded cold case unit, family advocacy, and NH Coalition of Familes of the Missing and Murdered.Manchester, NH - The Queen City - New Hampshire's largest city, ranks among America's best places to live, and also has been plagued with drugs, crime, and homelessness.More at crimeofthetruestkind.com | Follow the show links | Contact Anngelle at crimeofthetruestkind-at-gmail-comLIve show dates:Thursday,9/11 at Off Cabot, Beverly, MassThursday 10/23 at The Burren, Somverville, MassSupport the show: patreon.com/crimeofthetruestkind Hosted on Acast. Though Robert Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh remains well known today for his role in shaping the post-Napoleonic peace settlement in Europe, his half-brother Sir Charles Stewart has received far less attention despite his own prominent part in the politics and diplomacy of those years. In War and Diplomacy in the Napoleonic Era: Sir Charles Stewart, Castlereagh and the Balance of Power in Europe (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019), Reider Payne describes the adventurous life of the third Marquess of Londonderry and the roles he played in the events of his time. As a young man Charles Stewart initially pursued a career in the military rather than one in politics, and served in the cavalry during Great Britain's war against revolutionary France in the 1790s. After a brief period in the War Office he resumed his military career and served with the Duke of Wellington in the Peninsular War. His record as an officer and his relationship with his half-brother led to his appointment as an ambassador – first to Prussia, then to Austria – in which roles he represented Britain at the courts of her most prominent allies during the final stages of the Napoleonic Wars. Though Charles was often better known for his social escapades, he served ably as Britain's ambassador to Austria until his brother's suicide in 1822, during which time he was active in both post-Napoleonic diplomacy and the efforts to collect incriminating evidence against Princess Caroline of Brunswick in aid of the Prince Regent's effort to divorce her.  Kathleen Lynn – a Rebel WomanI hope you all had an enjoyable Easter. Across the island and further afield commemorations were held at countless locations to remember those who fought in the 1916 Easter Rising and in all of the generations of the freedom struggle. The Belfast turnout was big and Pearse Doherty, who made an exceptional speech, was given a very warm welcome. I saw no mention of his remarks or those of other republican speakers on RTE, BBC or other broadcasters. So much for public service broadcasting! The story of Easter 1916 reverberates with many remarkable accounts of courage as a small band of Irish Republicans took on the largest Empire ever to have existed in human history. They include many women. Among these are Julia Grenan, Winifred Carney and Elizabeth O'Farrell who were in the GPO and in Moore St. when the decision to surrender was taken. Winifred Carney's statue now stands proudly in front of Belfast City Hall.  Finding their place in a new IrelandIn his Easter remarks at the Republican Plot in Milltown Cemetery Teachta Pearse Doherty referenced the fact that the “momentum for Irish Unity grows stronger every day…. it is fast becoming the defining political project of our generation.” Pearse also addressed the importance of preparing for unity and in doing so the imperative of engaging with the unionist section of our people. He said: “There are many issues for republicans and unionists to talk about. We need to address the genuine fears and concerns of unionists in a meaningful way.”That means examining what they mean when they say they are British. We must be willing he said; “to explore and be open to new ideas. We need to look at ways in which the unionist people can find their place in a new Ireland.”  A Barren Landscape of DeathThe Gaza Strip is one eighth the size of County Antrim and has a population three times larger. Imagine if Belfast north of the River Lagan and including Mallusk and Newtownabbey were levelled to the ground. No schools, no hospitals, no homes – just tents – no churches, no shops, no transport system, no sewage system. A barren levelled landscape of death. Gaza City has been under strict Israeli siege for seven weeks. No bread, no water, no fuel, no medicines have been allowed to enter the area. The people – the children – are starving.  And all the time the international community with a few honourable exceptions does nothing – is complicit in this genocide. All that FussA friend of mine in County Tyrone was taking her seven year old daughter to her local Gael Scoil when the child drew her attention to the road sign for Londonderry. Someone had drawn a line through the London bit.‘Why is that  like that Mammy?' She asked. So Mammy gave a children's explanation. ‘But they are both wrong' the child replied ‘It's not Londonderry or Derry. Its Doire.'And that dear readers is why there is all that fuss about Irish or bilingual signage.

I've loved watching Lauren flourish after going through our programs and I'm so excited for her to share the one thing that has recently transformed her business. In this episode, Lauren shares how transitioning to private pay packages helps her balance accessibility for her clients and sustainability for her business.Lauren Thompson, MS, CCC-SLP, CLC, is a Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and the owner of Well Fed Feeding and Swallowing Therapy. Lauren founded Well Fed to offer families expert, evidence-based feeding support—without the red tape of insurance delays or the frustration of waitlists stretching for months.Realizing that simply being out of network wasn't enough to distinguish her practice from traditional in-network clinics, Lauren reimagined her service model to better meet the needs of families. She introduced visit packages that provide transparency around both cost and time commitment, allowing caregivers to invest in their child's feeding journey with clarity and confidence. These flexible packages enable her to offer semi-intensive therapy, gradually taper services as families build skills and confidence, or front-load support before major life transitions, such as vacations or milestones.Through this innovative approach, Lauren has not only built a sustainable, thriving practice but has also empowered families with individualized feeding therapy that fits their needs—not a rigid, one-size-fits-all schedule. In Today's Episode, We Discuss:Lauren's original plan to be a physical therapist and why she switched to SLPProviding personalized in-home care for familiesShifting her business model to private pay packages When to think about having patients come to see you in your own spaceHow packaged pricing creates financial security and predictabilityImproving client commitment (which results in fewer no-shows!) They pulled in 8 awards at the recently held NHTA's, have summer workshops and classes and tell the tale of performing Mama Mia! outdoors. Welcome aboard folks!
