On today's episode of the podcast I chat with my book coach, Jodi Brandon, about the process of writing a book for your business. From concept to completion, Jodi works with business owners who want to write a book to help market their business. I wanted reading the book to make people want to sign up for the program. We still use it like this, but I now aso use it as the textbook for the Unf*ck Your Biz program. When I first came out with the book, against Jodi's advice, I left out some of the juicy info so it because I was worried that people wouldn't join my program if they got everything they needed. But this was not the case, people still needed to implement the work we cover in the book, so I added all the info back in and now it doubles as the course reference book. I'm currently on the third edition of my book. There was a year between editions one and two and then two years later we came out with edition three and added in four chapters I currently want to add two more chapters on trademarks and update some of my personal anecdotes, but the content itself is evergreen. The book has also been a great tool for in-person conferences. People love a tangible item at tradeshows and events so it's been a great lead gen in that way. You can also buy the book on its own on my website for $30. Jodi has played a role in over 900 books getting published. She sees that small business owners are really dialing in now and paying less attention to what the bigger, traditionally-published authors are doing. There's also been a shift from needing to have your book on Amazon to it being icing on the cake but that the real ROI is coming from direct sales whether of the book individually or in a bundle. The U.S. is running out of options to service the national debt. Secretary Bessent announced that we will now use revenue from tariffs to pay down budget deficits, rather than reinvest them into the economy. Some are treating this as welcome news. At the same time, the GOP has formed a working group to draft up a “sequel” to the Big Beautiful Bill to deepen cuts to Medicaid and federal student aid. They’ll do anything other than raise taxes on those that can afford them. But tariffs and more cuts to vital programs will only hasten economic decline, so team Trump is running out of options to stop the bleeding. And that means only one thing: Printing more money. But that’s more complicated than it seems and will lead to disastrous results. It does explain, however, why Trump is so desperate to take over the Federal Reserve. You've probably heard the term “refeed day” thrown around. It may sound intriguing, especially if you're deep into a cut and feeling drained. But…what *actually* is a refeed day, and do you need one?I talked about it a bit in the last episode (go listen to ep. 198 first if you haven't yet), but I want to dive deeper in this episode!First off, a refeed day is NOT a cheat day, and it's definitely not a license to binge. I was recently asked the question “Should I refeed once a week if I'm in a calorie deficit?”I love this question (I always love when you send me your questions btw!), but honestly…it depends.Like most things in the health and fitness world, there's no “one-size-fits-all” answer.Before you start talking about refeed days, carb cycling, or any other advanced strategies, you've got to ask yourself an important question: “Am I even in a consistent deficit to begin with?”The reality is, most people aren't. Even if you're “eating clean,” hitting your macros Monday through Friday, but you're winging it on the weekends, you're not *truly* in a calorie deficit!
