This is an episode full of Friday whimsy, covering the Chicago Cubs, Wyndham Clark's antics, Sheriff Scottie's department expanding, and more. Andy and Brendan run through an "apology" from Wyndham in the aftermath of destroying a locker at Oakmont and how he turned this moment into a plea for a spot on the Ryder Cup team. The two also discuss Scottie Scheffler's comments from Wednesday's press conference at the Travelers regarding what he considers a "fair test" on the PGA Tour. Speaking of the Travelers, Jordan Speith withdrew with a new injury and Adam Schefter took over Thursday's broadcast with some insane PGA-NFL comparisons. Leaderboard updates are provided for the Women's PGA Championship and Champs Tour at Firestone, where PJ's pick of Thomas Bjorn is fighting for dead last. To wrap up this episode, Brendan chats with Viktor Hovland about Brian Rolapp, Jay Monahan, Oakmont, and his favorite fruit.

Bob is back and we start with a song. Tyler Kennedy talks about his daughter's dance show. Would the Oilers actually trade McDavid? What would the Pens have to offer? Has Edmonton failed him? Where would be his best landing spot? Tyler Kennedy sticks around to discuss Herb Brooks, his thoughts on bringing in Nick Bonino and the pressure he'll face, what his first big move would be this offseason. Lou Christie has passed away. Is tonight the time for TJ McConnell to shine? Why does the WNBA continue to allow Caitlin Clark to get roughed up? It seems like most of the league is jealous. The Pirates lineup from last night that never took the field was hideous. It's a 6-pack - Zach Greinke had a career SLG better than the Pirates team this year, Jack Suwinski is back, why are we not getting Skubal vs Skenes, do we owe Rodgers an apology, Shadeur Sanders was caught speeding. Joe and Pomp weigh in on the Callas US Open controversy. Will McDavid actually want to be traded? Could it turn out like LeBron the first time in Cleveland? What could Edmonton do? What are the NY Rangers doing to do with their draft pick, Beanie Bishop says there will be new calls on defense, the Pirates lineup is bad again today. Joe and Pomp both freak out. Jeff Hathhorn joins to discuss his takeaways from the US Open, Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark's destruction. What. A. Weekend. The US Open had everything. Drama, comebacks, fadeouts, bad weather, amazing shots, and on the final day at various times any one of half a dozen players were a genuine chance to win. So good.We do of course start the show by talking about the US Open and the incredible win of J.J. Spaun. Mark talks about how Spaun describes himself as a 'bad luck golfer', but he made his own luck at Oakmont. That final putt was unbelievable. We discuss the comments that his coach made to him during the rain break about 'trying too hard', and Mark compares Spaun's actions in the break to Minnesota Fats in the movie The Hustler. Nick muses about what the scores might have been had the greens been firm, and we talk about that drive on 17 from Spaun. We discuss Adam Scott, a real chance going into Sunday and unfortunately a tough final round so he didn't finish the way he'd have liked. Mark described it as 'brutal to watch'. Nick and Mark discuss Scotty's reputation as a bit serious vs the reality of their experiences with him, and Nick explains why he 'hates Adam Scott'.Nick and Mark give their view on the Sam Burns relief (or lack of) ruling on Sunday, and Mark says whilst the ruling may have been technically correct, it means the rule is wrong.Nick forgot to put his phone on mute before the pod, but it works out well as he gets a text from US Tour Pro Austin Truslow who played the US Open, so we decide to call him back live and have a chat. Austin explains what playing Oakmont was like, how he approached it, and about hitting balls with J.J. Spaun on the Monday prior. Nick asks Austin what a 5-handicapper would shoot at Oakmont. There was some bad behaviour at the Open. Namely Rory McIlroy and Wyndham Clark. We discuss. In light of Spauns stunning winning putt, the Top 5 from Nick is the 5 greatest shots ever made to win their first mens major. Has he missed one? Competition time. Let us know if there is one Nick has missed and he will choose one wolkfpacker to win a Talk Birdie Prize Pack with $250 to spend at the Golf Clearance Outlet (instore or online) and a team entry into the Golfies 2-person Ambrose event, with the major prize a 25 grand trip to Thailand. Find out details and enter here. Remember - discount code 'Birdies' gets you 40% off your entry. As you'd imagine, feedback is heavily on the US Open today, but Dan gives Mark a whack for fighting with wolfpackers on social media. Mark defends himself saying that some people deserve to be whacked and he is happy to do it. PING globals from Nick, obviously Oakmont, but plenty of other great performances going on including an amazing result from a 15 year old women's amateur beating the pros ! And on Saturday Adam Scott showed some exceptional bunker play, and Marks masterclass today is on Scotty's bunker shots. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. Below is a breakdown of the key moments: Friday's Recap & Player Analysis: [Will Docter] (0:39 - 13:30) Will discusses the complete turnaround from Thursday's domination by Team USA to Friday's losses in the foursome sessions. Below are detailed match analyses: Match 6: Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im vs. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele Matsuyama and Im stunned Cantlay and Schauffele with seven consecutive birdies, finishing 7 and 6. The Japanese-Korean duo, ranked low in strokes gained on Day 1, were in top five by the end of Friday. Key Quote: "Seven straight birdies is flat-out impressive stuff in any format" (0:47). Analysis: Matsuyama and Im displayed exceptional form, outperforming Cantlay and Schauffele in every aspect, particularly in putting. Match 7: Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith vs. Sahith Theegala and Collin Morikawa Pendrith continued his solid performance, paired with Scott who had a fantastic day on the greens. Theegala struggled, having the second-worst day on the course. Analysis: Theegala's weak putting, combined with Morikawa's subpar form, left them outmatched despite Morikawa's solid ball striking. Match 8: Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Jason Day vs. Max Homa and Brian Harman Homa had a strong day with his driving, but Harman's poor showing left the pair vulnerable. Team USA Analysis: Homa and Harman couldn't recover, losing 1-up in a closely contested match. Day and Bezuidenhout capitalized on their putting despite not playing their best. Match 9: Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes vs. Wyndham Clark and Tony Finau The Canadians made seven birdies, ending the match on 13, while Clark and Finau could not make their putts. Key Stat: Both Finau and Clark had negative strokes gained with their irons. Analysis: The home crowd support for Conners and Hughes gave them a needed boost as Team USA faltered. Match 10: Si Woo Kim and Byeong Hun An vs. Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley Si Woo Kim excelled with birdies on 12, 13, and 15, and a clutch par putt to close the match. Scheffler admitted that Henley rolled the ball well but couldn't capitalize on his chances. Analysis: Si Woo's ability to thrive in high-pressure situations made the difference, showcasing his incredible match-play abilities. Saturday Picks & Predictions: [Will Docter] (13:30 - 17:00) Match 11: Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa vs. Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith Favorite: Scheffler and Morikawa (-205). Prediction: Despite Morikawa's shaky putting, Will leans toward Team USA based on Scheffler's solid ball striking and world number one ranking. Match 12: Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele vs. Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes Underdog: Conners and Hughes (+141). Prediction: Will favors the Canadians, citing their recent form and Finau's ongoing struggles with the greens. Match 13: Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim vs. Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark Favorite: Si Woo and Tom Kim (-117). Prediction: Will is confident in the chemistry between the Kims, emphasizing Si Woo's clutch performance on Friday. Match 14: Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns vs. Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im Even Money: Will predicts the Internationals will continue their momentum, doubting Cantlay and Burns' ability to perform under pressure. Closing Remarks: [Will Docter] (17:00 - End) Will concludes by discussing his plan for Saturday's afternoon session, hinting at potential picks for Sunday singles based on Saturday's results. Andy and Brendan close out the week, and open a new month, with this Friday episode checking in on the Olympics golf competition from Paris. First, there's a check-in on the Bears, Jets, and some questions about 3-on-3 basketball and how an alt-event like that might work in golf. There's also some gatekeeping about what should be an actual Olympic sport, like speedwalking? They discuss early action from Le Golf National, such as Wyndham Clark's early troubles, the discourse around him and who should qualify for a team, and the golf course as a variety test. Then they close it out with Golf Advice on Member-Guest appreciation ideas and a psycho starter trying to get a player to go back in and pay a dynamic pricing hike.
