Ambition can either drive you toward God's purpose—or quietly pull your heart away from it. But the wrong kind of ambition can quietly pull your heart away from God. In a culture that constantly tells us to achieve more, build more, and prove more, it's easy to confuse calling with striving. The Bible doesn't condemn ambition—but it does warn us about the danger of selfish ambition. In this episode, Christine Caine explores the powerful difference between godly ambition and selfish ambition, revealing how our motivations shape our leadership, our relationships, and our spiritual health. If you've ever wrestled with questions like: • Am I pursuing purpose—or just proving myself? • Is my drive coming from calling or insecurity? • How do I lead and succeed without losing my soul? This message will help you realign your ambition with the heart of God. ✨ What you'll learn: • The biblical difference between godly ambition and selfish ambition • How insecurity can quietly fuel unhealthy striving • Why true success in God's Kingdom is measured by love, not achievement • How to pursue your calling while staying rooted in humility and identity in Christ
Jon Houghton and Austin Carr have a candid conversation about the pursuit of Godly ambition.
We're joined today by Ruslan KD. He is a large-scale Christian influencer on YouTuber known for his insightful commentary on Christian living, culture, and personal development. He is also a speaker, author, and advocate for godly ambition. Open a Bible and follow along with us!

As a new year begins, we’re invited to reflect on where our lives are headed and what truly drives us. In this message, we explore the difference between selfish ambition, sloth, and godly ambition—the kind of desire that is empowered by God’s grace and aimed at His glory. Drawing from the story of Solomon and Paul’s words to the Thessalonians, this sermon calls us to name, plan for, and step into ambitions that produce good, flow from faith, and honor Jesus. "And Jesus said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.'” - Mark 1:17 Welcome back to the Everyday Disciples podcast, where we discuss what it means to follow the way of Jesus in everything, everywhere, every day. This month, we are talking about what it means to selflessly serve. SHOW NOTES SERVICE BEGINS WITH HUMILITY: Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us, “but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” In humility, with lowliness of mind, elevate the significance of those around. It was C.S. Lewis who said, “True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.” So give people weight and meaning, do not ignore them. Look to the interests of those around you. If you wanted to begin to see an improvement in your relationships, whether it be friendships, marriage, parenting, or with your parents. Begin to give those in your life weight, and don't always make it about you. WHAT IS OUR EXAMPLE OF SERVICE: Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, “When Jesus calls a man, he bids him come and die.” To follow Jesus is not to seek your own greatness. It is to die to yourself that you may truly live in Him. The example of our Lord is to serve and give our lives away. On the night that Jesus was betrayed, when He gathered his disciples, the task that was reserved for the last and the least, He took upon Himself and washed their feet. When there was an uproar over this, Jesus explained His actions, and in explaining his actions, he made it clear that we are to follow in His way of serving. PRACTICE FOR THE MONTH: Serve. Ask God to help you die to yourself daily so that you may serve those around you and do something for someone with no expectation of return. Everyday Disciples is a production of Crossroads Church located in Grass Valley, California.

In Matthew 20:17-34 we see that godly ambition is driven by love, seeking to fulfill God's purposes through sacrificial service.
Psalm 116:1-11, Jeremiah 4:10-5:31, Philippians 3:1-4:1. 'Ambition has been defined as the ‘desire to succeed' There are ultimately only two controlling ambitions to which all others may be reduced: one is our own glory and the other is God's glory
Psalm 116:7-9, Jeremiah 5:14, Philippians 3:4-21. 'Ambition has been defined as the ‘desire to succeed' There are ultimately only two controlling ambitions to which all others may be reduced: one is our own glory and the other is God's glory
Nehemiah (in Nehemiah 6) didn't allow the problems of his day to stop his desire to serve God.
Words of strong emotions are thrown around today like candy. Something that is likeable is “awesome”. A new job is “a perfect match”. Even our local weather station has a TOP TEN WEATHER day that they use about 1-2 x per month. One of these words is the word ambition. What does this word really mean, and how to we have Godly Ambition?
