As children of God, and members of His household, we have a responsibility (our response to an ability God has given to us) to daily live a lifestyle of evangelism, and point others to Jesus. We are called to partner with God and to co-labour with Him in the Great Co-Mission. Much like Peter, John, Philip and Nathanael who were invited to "Come and See", our ONE which is defined as "Outreach Never Ends" matters greatly!
An expository look at Matthew 28:16-20

The mission of the church hasn't changed since the birth of the church but the expression of missions has dramatically evolved. However, the church must remember the power of the Message, the persistence of the Messengers and the priority of the Mandate. Pastor Thomas brings us the preached word from Matthew 28:18-20 in The 3M's of the Great Commission.

Mike also shares some of his heart for St Simons church ahead of the Sunday launch service and how this fits with out calling as a 'sent' church in the city.

As we conclude our long and winding study through the book of Matthew, Pastor Heath gives the three basic requirements given to us in the Great Commission of Matthew 28:16-20.
You are invited! Those words sound nice, right? Except it can feel scary to be the one saying those words. "What if they say no?" "What if this makes our relationship feel weird?" How can the act of inviting actually be inviting? Sermon Notes: Matthew 28:17-20 Matthew 22:2-10 Implications: Invitation seems scary because we fear rejection. Leave the results of the invite in God's hands. Invite out of who you are, out of your passions, and out of your connection with Christ. Types of Inviters: 1. I am on a mission! 2. I'm having fun, you should too! 3. I see you! 4. I need your help! 5. I found healing!
Why can sharing our faith feel so awkward? Oftentimes we wonder how to get started, and what to say. How Jesus engaged with Nicodemus in conversation has some answers for us. Sermon Notes: John 3:1-19 John 16:7-15 Galatians 5:25 Implications: Inviting people into spiritual conversations requires embracing the reality that you are born of the Spirit. To move beyond the awkwardness of actually engaging others spiritually, embrace this reality. When you invite people into spiritual conversations, you are recognizing that they need to be born of God's Spirit too! Corporate Discipleship 1. I do. You watch. We talk. 2. I do. You help. We talk. 3. You do. I help. We talk. 4. You do. I watch. We talk. 5. You do. Someone else watches. Jesus Discipleship 1. I be. You watch. We talk. 2. I be. You be. We talk. 3. I do out of my being. You watch. We talk. 4. You do out of your being. I watch. We talk. 5. You be. Someone else watches. Four Types of Spiritual Conversations 1. Q&A 2. Pray 3. Your Story 4. Scripture 5 Goals of Discipleship 1. Reconnect to the source of life 2. Reconnect through authentic healthy relationship 3. Experience total grace, acceptance, and forgiveness 4. Experience and learn the value of obedience to God 5. Give control to God for the rest of life
Sometimes it seems easier to just “do all the stuff” for your relationship with Jesus than to actually BE in relationship with Him, but that ends up feeling hallow. How can you create space in your life that allows for your relationship with Jesus to flourish, and subsequently every other relationship in your life? Sermon Notes: Philippians 4:10-13 Luke 10:38-42 Corporate Discipleship: 1. I do. You watch. We talk. 2. I do. You help. We talk. 3. You do. I help. We talk. 4. You do. I watch. We talk. 5. You do. Someone else watches. Jesus Discipleship 1. I be. You watch. We talk. 2. I be. You be. We talk. 3. I do out of my being. You watch. We talk. 4. You do out of your being. I watch. We talk. 5. You be. Someone else watches. Implication: Discipleship from a place of “being-with” is sustainable, steady, and successful.
One of the great paradoxes of life is how relationships brings about our greatest joys, but also our deepest pains. Jesus's call to be and make disciples cannot be carried out at arms length. Discipleship is designed with relationship required. For many people this is scary, but this is where we actually find healing. Sermon Notes: Genesis 2:18 Deuteronomy 6:5–7 Leviticus 19:18 Galatians5:22-23 Matthew 22:37–40 John15:5 Implication: 1. Christ came to be in relationship with you because you were created a relational being.

This week we start our Discipleship sermon series as we look at the mission Jesus gave us and consider how we can enjoy Him as we journey together. Sermon Notes: Matthew 4:19 Philippians 4:9 Galatians 4:19 Matthew 28:16-20 Matthew 8:19-23 Psalm 119:164 Daniel 6:10 Implication: 1. Discipleship is not primarily didactic. Discipleship is about living out your relationship with Jesus in such a way that others get invited into that same relationship.
