So many women face health challenges they don't fully understand—symptoms they've come to accept as just part of life, assuming they're normal. But when these issues are ignored, they quietly take a toll. Breaking free from this cycle starts with realizing that feeling unwell doesn't have to be your norm, and that there's always more to learn about your body and health. It's not about looking for a quick fix; it's about taking control and being proactive about your wellness.Kelli Musa, a wellness coach specializing in autoimmune conditions and menopause, understands this firsthand. After surviving an autoimmune disease, Kelli became passionate about helping women understand their bodies, primarily through the lens of autoimmune disease and menopause. She shares her recovery journey, explaining how embracing science and functional medicine helped her transform her life. She highlights the importance of self-awareness and finding the proper support to navigate health challenges. Her story is one of empowerment, healing, and proactive care.Quotes:“It's not right to feel poorly, it's not right to not have energy, it's not right to not have libido.” – Kelli Musa“You can put lupus. You can put any of these diseases into remission.” – Kelli Musa“When you get to the root cause of something, and you rebuild the system, you can actually bounce back.” – Kelli MusaTakeaways:Listen to your body. If something feels off, investigate it—don't just assume it's normal.Seek the proper support. Avoid generic advice—find professionals who listen and help you understand your health.Take control of your health journey. Knowledge about conditions like autoimmune diseases and menopause empowers you to make informed decisions.Challenge the norm. While healthcare often focuses on quick fixes, true healing comes from addressing the root causes and being proactive.Prioritize self-awareness. Truly understanding how your body works is the first step toward lasting wellness. Conclusion: Kelli's journey is a powerful reminder that wellness goes beyond just managing symptoms. By taking the time to understand your body and your health, you can make lasting, meaningful changes. Approaches like peptides, functional medicine, and a holistic perspective on health can help rebuild and strengthen your body, but it all starts with being knowledgeable and proactive. When you're in tune with your body, you can take charge of your wellness better.

We all know about the “shoulds”, but what about the “coulds”? In this episode we reflect on this sneaky feeling of always feeling “behind” despite logically knowing that time is just a construct. We realize what's actually happening is this feeling of lost potential and disappointment of not getting as much done as we wanted to. Which leads us to explore how we are already shedding the “shoulds” but what about the “coulds”? The “I could be doing more”, “I could be working on this”, “I could've spent my time getting this done” etc. As always we weave in our embodied and somatic perspectives into the conversation, and dissect the word ambition–what it actually means and how it's been tainted by boss babe hustle culture. The conversation beautifully gives a glimpse of the essence of living our values and integrity, balancing external pressures, and embracing authenticity in business and invites you to do the same. As we close out 2024, we're excited to bring you a special episode to end the year. Last year, we began a tradition of hosting a conversation with Darrell Johnson near the end of each year, and it's quickly become a meaningful rhythm for this podcast—a chance to sit down and reflect on life and ministry. Darrell has been preaching, teaching, and pastoring for over 50 years, with a ministry journey that has taken him from the Philippines to the United States and, of course, here in Canada. He currently serves as part of the Teaching and Pastoral Team at The Way Church in Vancouver, BC, and is the author of several impactful books, including Discipleship on the Edge, Ephesians: The Wonder and Walk of Being Alive in Christ, and his latest release, That You May Live: How the 10 Commandments Lead to Human Freedom. For this conversation Jason had the opportunity to join Darrell in his study at home where Darrell spends time each morning in devotion and study. In this episode, Darrell shares about: Some of his morning rhythms, the practices that he's found that work in his life to create space for a life with God. Disciple-making in our modern context, including the value of one-on-one conversations and how he would anchor discipleship in teaching people how to read the Bible and pray. Reflections on his health journey over the past few months, candidly sharing about both challenges and God's faithfulness through it all. We're so grateful you've joined us for this conversation on The Pastorate. Our prayer is that this conversation encourages and equips you as you prepare to step into 2025. Biography Darrell Johnson has been preaching Jesus Christ and His Gospel for over 50 years. He has served a number of Presbyterian congregations in California, Union Church of Manila in the Philippines, and the historic First Baptist Church in the heart of Vancouver, Canada. He has taught preaching for Fuller Theological Seminary, Carey Theological College in Vancouver, and Regent College in Vancouver. He has authored eight books, including The Glory of Preaching and Discipleship on the Edge: An Expository Journey Through Revelation. He is currently serving as Scholar-in-Residence for The Way Church and The Pastorate. He and his wife Sharon have been married 47 years. Together they have raised four children adopted from four different countries of the world, and now enjoy loving nine active grandchildren! So, for me, it's getting to the gym every day while traveling, and especially when there's holiday parties every day, it's finding that movement and making sure I get my water in every day. It‘s all those little things.” Jenn Trepeck[11:00] “I put into my schedule something that I know either friends, or health-minded colleagues, will surround me. So I am building in that accountability a little bit to myself, knowing that I want to feel well but still celebrate.” Shannon[19:58] “If you're starving when you get there, you'll make poor choices, not because you don't have any willpower, but because your hormones are taking over. So, if you come feeling satisfied, you will have more control over your food than your food controlling you.” Jessica[23:56] “We don't have to wait for the new year to reward ourselves. Maybe it's buying ourselves a gift. Maybe it's having downtime. Do we want to get tickets to a concert or a show or go to the spa or find, maybe get a massage?” Jenn Trepeck[31:11]” Muscle dictates metabolism, as we always say. It's not just losing weight; it's removing fat and building muscle to improve our overall health.” Jenn Trepeck[37:38] “I'm celebrating the win daily and not getting discouraged or focusing too far ahead because I can easily just say ‘I'll do that tomorrow'.” Shannon[43:06] “The Healthy Vibe Tribe is a great opportunity to get that support, be around people going in the same direction as you and get the education part. That's why I'm excited to partner and lock arms with you.” Jessica[49:56] “The Healthy Vibe Tribe is one of the most exciting programs I could even imagine placing myself in. It's taking action and stepping into 2025 with momentum.” ShannonRESOURCES:Learn more about Healthy Vibe Tribe on Dec 19 at 7pm ETLearn more about Healthy Vibe Tribe on Jan 6 at 8pm ETReady to jump into the Healthy Vibe Tribe?
