Yo Quiero Dinero: A Personal Finance Podcast For the Modern Latina
In this powerful and deeply healing conversation, Jannese sits down with Priscilla María Gutierrez, a certified trauma-informed life coach and keynote speaker known online as The Cycle Breaker Coach. Together, they unpack what it really means to be a cycle breaker — especially as first-gen Latinas navigating cultural expectations, family pressure, and inherited trauma.Priscilla opens up about her personal journey through childhood abuse, unhealthy relationships, and the moment she chose to reclaim her voice and purpose. She shares how she transformed her pain into her profession, helping others break free from toxic patterns and live authentically aligned lives. From healing your relationship with money to setting boundaries with family and unlearning generational beliefs — this episode is your reminder that it's possible to break cycles and still love where you come from.
Antonio Gutierrez of Vivid Creative Aquatics joins Eric discussing the Random Flow Generator (RFG) nozzle, a product designed to create non-laminar, turbulent, and natural water flow in enclosed systems like aquariums and ponds. The conversation highlights the counterintuitive nature of the product's function, often leading to user disbelief until they see it in action, which is facilitated by its unique, non-mechanical internal design. Gutierrez explains that the RFG works by generating pressure imbalances that result in randomized directional pulses of water, unlike traditional directional nozzles, and notes that the product, which is manufactured using 3D printing, can effectively replace multiple traditional powerheads in a reef tank. The discussion also touches on the potential applications of the technology in different environments, such as ponds and specialized reptile enclosures, where natural circulation is beneficial for the health of fish and other organisms. Key Takeaways: Prioritize creating natural, turbulent water movement in your aquatic systems to mimic ocean or river environments. Focus on providing random, varied flow to encourage fish to swim and forage naturally, instead of hiding in calm areas. Utilize randomized flow patterns to keep debris suspended, reducing the frequency of cleaning needed in tanks or ponds. Understand that achieving proper water circulation can be more critical to coral and aquatic life health than maximizing light intensity alone. Choose advanced flow devices that operate without internal moving mechanical parts to prevent equipment failure and rust.
Send us a textWhen the veil thins, the body becomes the first altar. In this candid, unfiltered conversation, somatic coach, witch, and trauma-informed Domme Melissa Gutierrez joins Leandra and Elyse to demystify somatics and show how movement reshapes mind, emotions, and (yes) magick. We explore the twin currents of sex magick and death work—how they naturally braid together in healing, grief, and rebirth—and why ethical containers, consent, and nervous-system literacy matter for real transformation.Melissa shares her cultural roots, what “sensation integration” looks like in practice, and how to work with triggers as teachers. We talk science-meets-mysticism, reclaiming the hips and voice from shame, adult agency in the body, and why community mirrors are essential for growth. If you've ever wondered how to actually feel energy, hold a vision through arousal, or approach spirit and ancestors without fear, this episode is your map.
In this episode, Meghan Gutierrez, CEO of the Lymphoma Research Foundation, shares insights on how proposed NIH budget cuts could impact cancer research, the importance of stable funding for early-career scientists, and how the foundation is supporting innovation and patient education to accelerate progress against lymphoma.
Mike Palmer welcomes back Friend of the Show, AJ Gutierrez, the pioneering co-founder of Saga Education, now CEO of Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS). AJ shares his transition from direct service to a focus on systemic change, detailing the crucial, often overlooked, mission of EOS: identifying and accelerating equitable opportunity for high-potential students. Historically, education equity conversations focus on raising students to grade level; EOS tackles the issue of "stranded brilliance" by finding students—disproportionately Black and Brown students experiencing poverty—who are ready for advanced coursework but are being overlooked. AJ cites compelling research from Mathematica demonstrating that students placed in AP classes through the EOS process perform just as well as control groups, confirming they were ready all along. The conversation pivots to the broader K-12 landscape, touching on threats to federal data infrastructure (e.g., IES, NSF funding) and the role of AI. AJ stresses that while technology is a powerful tool for decision support, summarization, and translation (like with IEPs), it's not a silver bullet. He outlines his vision for the "next derivative" of EOS—leveraging their extensive student and teacher survey data (300,000 students surveyed annually) to act as a crucial data backbone for districts. This involves connecting district leaders with high-leverage information to evaluate the return on investment across specific initiatives (e.g., STEM, absenteeism) and empowering families with simple, accessible data to shape their children's educational trajectories. Key Takeaways: Addressing "Stranded Brilliance": Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) focuses on finding and placing high-potential students who are overlooked into advanced coursework, a crucial and effective pathway for systemic equity. Data Backbone for Districts: The next phase of EOS involves using its large survey dataset to serve as a central source of strategic data for district leaders, connecting initiatives, vendors, and outcomes. AI as Decision Support: Generative AI's greatest educational utility lies in summarizing complex data and translating information (like IEPs) for better family accessibility, not in replacing human decision-making. The Power of Policy & Practice: True systems change requires demonstrating successful practice (like high-impact tutoring) to inspire policy shifts and empower districts to sustain effective models locally. Why You Should Listen: If you are concerned about educational equity, the integrity of educational data, or how district leaders can make smarter investment decisions with limited resources, this episode is a must-listen. AJ offers an optimistic and evidence-based perspective on how to leverage data to shake up the status quo, ensuring that every student who is ready for advanced opportunity gets the chance to pursue it. UFC 320 was terrific on paper and delivered great moments in preactice. Alex Pereira reclaimed his belt in under two minutes. He charged Ankalaev and scored the TKO lightning fast. Merab Dvalishvili almost knocked out Cory Sandhagen, then let him recover enough to take a round off him. He would end up victorious, proving that he's likely the best bantamweight the UFC has ever seen. Jiri Prochazka fought like a kid practicing his Kung Fu Theater moves and ended up taking a beating through two rounds. Finally, when Rountree had gassed, Jiri turned up the weird energy and ended up getting the TKO in the third, leaving Khalil a bloody mess.
