Dr. Ioana shares about her atheist background in communist Romania and their commonly held belief about Christians. Just because you believe something… it doesn't mean it's so.  She made the decision to believe there is a God, and He let her know right away that it was true. What are you believing right now that is not true but is affecting your day, your life, your happiness… your salvation?   Dr. Ioana is the co-founder of the Team For The Soul TM. Team for The SoulTM  supports passionate leaders, healers, educators and caregivers on their life and soul journey to achieve the highest potential while doing what they love toward the betterment of humanity. Dr. Ioana is not only a physician and life coach, but also an educator, workshop presenter, speaker and program developer. In her free time, she enjoys reading memoirs and books on holistic and healthy living and Orthodox theology. She recently finished writing her first book, tentatively entitled "Shattered Wheat: A Memoir of Motherhood, Autism, Trauma, and Beauty" (currently unpublished), and her blog posts can be found at www.coreyreaganhatfield.blog. Much of her writing is fueled by her experiences in nature as well as the joy and chaos that has emerged while raising a violently Autistic son. Cynthia brings Ashley Belanger on today to talk about her experience with Lyme, knowing that this topic could very well help many others who experience “unexplained symptoms.”  After recently finding out she has Lyme and Bartonella, a whole new world has opened up about the disparate symptoms going on for years that she had no idea were related. How do you get to root causes?  What are some common diagnoses out there where bacterial and viral infections should be tested for… if only to be ruled out as root cause?  (Think MS, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Parkinsons, Rheumatoid Arthritis) We answer these questions today! This podcast is brought to you by Team for the Soul!  Their newest online program, Growing in Christ, was specifically designed for you to learn to live in this world, but not of this world, and continue to serve others in Christ with joy, energy, patience and peace of mind. Ashley Belanger's health journey led her to leave teaching to become a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP). As a root cause practitioner, she likes to look deeper at what could be causing symptoms or what caused a diagnosis. A diagnosis is a label. It does not tell you all the factors that caused you to get sick. She is passionate about helping others take control of their health and learning to advocate for themselves.  During 6 years of teaching, she became very ill.  It started as lingering symptoms that doctors were unable to explain, telling her it was only stress or that it was in her head. At one point, she didn't know her own name or birth date.  It took 6 years of actively seeking answers to get a diagnosis of Lyme disease and many other coinfections. During that time of seeking answers, she began to look at her toxin burden load & how that impacted her body. She later had two different Lyme Literate Doctors tell her that doing so kept her from being completely bedridden and in a wheelchair. Read more about her Lyme journey here. She thought “oh my gosh…this describes a large number of females that I see.” They come seeking a solution for their anxiety, weight gain, depression, insomnia, etc. and I give them a pill which doesn't make them better. It was a real “aha!” moment and a huge revelation from God that started her journey toward Integrative Medicine and then Functional Medicine.  Since then, her patients' lives have been changing in ways they never did before.  At the end of 2016, God opened doors that led her to fulfill a long-time dream of owning her own clinic and Julian Healthcare was born.  Is it time to make some changes in your life? Have you ever lost your cool and were left wondering “Where did that come from?”  In today's episode, Cynthia admits to yelling at her neighbor, but then gets to the bottom of why it seems small things can set us off at times.  Dr. Carly Hudson explains the stress response cycle and why we may think we are just fine, but our body is still holding on to our stressors.  She also tells us how to close the loop! Dr. Carly speaks of important philosophical shifts in self care, including what it takes to move from a focus on disease management to true health care and the practical things we can do for ourselves instead of the constant search for the silver bullet. As an infant, Dr. Carly suffered a life-threatening illness. She was left with “invisible handicaps” including balance disorders, muscle spasticity, and hearing loss. She had to begin again to learn how her body worked and so began her path of life-long learning and healing. With the gift of this injury, Dr. Carly has spent her life exploring how deliberate self care impacts our mind, body, and spirit. Listeners can sign up for Dr. Carly's e-newsletter at healinggroundmovement.com and receive a free Guide to Rest, Recovery and Rejuvenation. Is it time to make some changes in your life? Join Cynthia as she promotes Nurse Practitioner Susan Julian to the title of Doctor.  (Embarrassing)  Once that was cleared up, their conversation about autoimmunity and its connection with the gut and hormones is very informative.  How are all of these linked?  Why is autoimmunity becoming more common?  They also talk a bit about estrogen and birth control and the connection to autoimmunity…and…forgiveness! Susan Julian worked as an RN since 1986 and in a variety of emergency departments and home care settings. She received her master's degree in nursing from Indiana University in 2004 as a family nurse practitioner and worked in a traditional family practice setting for a hospital system until 2017.  In 2008 she was attending a nurse practitioner conference when she heard about female hormone imbalance symptoms, testing, and treatment with compounded “bio-identical” hormones and the science behind it.
