On today's program, former Hillsong Atlanta pastors announce their divorce on social media. We'll have details. And a judge rules that World Vision is liable for discrimination after rescinding a job offer after discovering a woman was in a same-sex marriage. Plus, both David C Cook and Museum of the Bible announce new CEOs. We'll take a look. We begin today with news that the historic Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia has ousted its pastor Liam Goligher. Although Goligher is no longer pastoring the influential church—associated with the Presbyterian Church in America—some critics are asking what took so long. FINAL THOUGHTS We are in the most critical time of the year for Christian ministries, including MinistryWatch, when it comes to fundraising. We need to raise about a quarter of our budget, about $116 thousand, in the months of November and December. We just passed the $60,000 mark, so we are over half-way there. If you've already given, THANK YOU. If you have not, I hope you will prayerfully consider a gift to MinistryWatch before year-end. And, of course, MinistryWatch is not alone. Some ministries raise 30 or 40 percent of their budgets during the last two months of the year. If you'd like to help us reach our year-end goal, just go to MinistryWatch.com and hit the donate button at the top of the page. But whether you give to us or not, we hope you will use our database to help you make giving decisions. And that you will give wisely and generously during this season. The producers for today's program are Rich Roszel and Jeff McIntosh. We get database and other technical support from Stephen DuBarry, Rod Pitzer, and Casey Sudduth. Writers who contributed to today's program include Steve Rabey, Brittany Smith, Jessica Eturralde, Kim Roberts, Daniel Ritchie, Christina Darnell—and you, Warren. Until next time, may God bless you.

Meet Toni Collier. Longtime followers of this podcast have met her husband, Sam, on a previous episode, but his better half stands as a force in her own right — a speaker, host, consultant and the founder of Broken Crayons Still Color, an international ministry that helps women process through brokenness and find hope. That ministry gave Toni the foundation to co-author “Overcomer: Defeating Anxiety and Abuse,” an iDisciple Publishing book that, in devotional form, helps women navigate hard plights to find holy heights. She and Sam, the senior pastor at Hillsong Atlanta, lead a congregation that shares a Midtown building with one of the city's well-known nightclubs. Party spot by Saturday p.m., sanctuary by Sunday a.m. — with a disco ball hanging near the pulpit — the place illustrates the inclusive message that Toni hopes will permeate the church they've planted. “We thought church was a place for saints where we had to stay inside of the four walls and protect ourselves from the heathens out there,” she says. “What I love so much is that this is a space with equal dwelling, where 12 hours ago it served a different purpose, with a different group of people, and we are no different — we're all crazy, ratchet sinners, living our best and most glorious life, doing our best to point ourselves back to Jesus and live a life of sanctification. It just makes us feel more normal, which is what we should be.”
Do you feel disqualified because of your past? My guest Toni Collier has learned from personal experience that when you allow God to redeem your brokenness and surrender your life and story to Him, hope truly is possible. Toni and I discuss how shame from past mistakes and/or abuse can be crippling, (and she has incredible stories of both)—but when God comes in, you're given an assignment to boldly and bravely point to His strength, no longer left feeling discounted because of your weakness. I know you'll laugh, nod along and be inspired to be bold about your brokenness and move toward holy healing after hearing this episode! We all have moments in our past that lead to brokenness. For some, this is a recent past, and for others, childhood trauma continues to shape present reality. What brokenness—or broken people—have you experienced in your life? On this “best of” episode of God Hears Her, Eryn and Elisa revisit a conversation with Toni Collier as she reminds all of us that our past doesn't have to define us. Instead, even our brokenness can be redeemed by God and used for His glory and our good. About our guest: Toni Collier is a communicator, host, and consultant. She's also a voice of Our Daily Bread, and the creator of the blog “Broken Crayons Still Color”—a place for women to be reminded that our past doesn't define us. Toni is “Texas proud” of her Houston, Texas roots, but currently resides with her family in Atlanta, Georgia where she and her husband Sam are lead pastors at Hillsong Atlanta. Notes and Quotes: “There is a balance between being imperfect and striving for perfection, and I think the middle is hard to sit in.” “I went through a mindset shift that God wasn't up there with His finger pointing down at me, but instead was like ‘put me in coach.'” Counseling is not a weakness, it is needed. “Our lives are like bookshelves.” “It is not the brokenness we are lifting up and celebrating, but it is God's presence and redemption in the brokenness.” “The world has lied to us, and told us we had to be perfect to be used.” “The truth is, God wants to use us in the middle of our mess.” This is the time to walk boldly in our brokenness. “What people don't know is what comes with exposing those traumas . . . anxiety.” When we discover our brokenness, it takes time to heal. “You are more than enough.” Links/Books/Resources Mentioned In Show: Show Notes on godhearsher.org God Hears Her website: https://www.godhearsher.org/ Subscribe on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast Order God Sees Her: 365 Devotions for Women by Women on Amazon. https://amzn.to/32lYSgh Check out Toni's Blog: Broken Crayons Still Color: http://brkncrayons.com/ Elisa's Instagram: elisamorganauthor Eryn's Instagram: eryneddy Toni's Instagram: tonijcollier Verses Mentioned in Show: 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' My guest for The Happy Hour #388 is the wonderful Toni Collier! Toni Collier is the founder of an international women’s ministry called Broken Crayons Still Color, which helps women process through brokenness and get to hope. She serves alongside her husband Sam who is the Lead Pastor of Hillsong Atlanta. She is a speaker, host, and is teaching people all over the globe that you can be broken and worthy and unqualified and still called to do great things. Building a friendship with Toni was probably my favorite part of 2020 and I’m SO happy she is joining me on the podcast! In today’s episode, Toni dives into her difficult childhood and overcoming church hurt due to following a pastor instead of focusing on Jesus. We’ve all seen it happen, and the problem of putting pastors and leaders on a pedestal. But I love when Toni says “A pastor is in the four walls of a church. A Savior is everywhere.” For the full summary and links to the show, click the link below! On today's episode, I'm so excited to share this honest conversation that I had with my good good friend Toni Collier on “When Life Doesn't Go As Planned”. As women who have both walked through young single motherhood, divorce in the church, going back to school while working etc, we totally get what it feels like if you've had a “non-traditional” or non-linear path in life. And we wanted to take the time to dismantle any feelings of shame or failure that have tried to take hold of your story.Because sometimes it's the detours and most unexpected paths that take us to beautiful places we never would have imagined for ourselves. Because God can work ALL things together for good, amen?I'd love to hear your thoughts on this so I invite you to share and follow along at the social links below!Toni Collier is the Co-Lead Pastor of Hillsong Atlanta and founder of an international women's ministry called Broken Crayons Still Color that helps women process through brokenness and get to hope. What would it feel like to be reunited with your biological birth mother for the first time on national television? That's exactly what happened to Sam Collier the Lead Pastor of Hillsong Atlanta. Today on BraveMen Ps. Sam shares the remarkable story of his life's journey from orphan to nationally recognized Christian leader. His dramatic testimony is also the subject of his best-selling book “A Greater Story”. Twins Sam and Sara Collier were given up for adoption when they were newborns and were adopted by Belinda and Lamar Collier of Decatur. Unbeknownst to Sam and Sara, Harvey was able to track down their biological mom, as well as their three siblings. Sam has strong views on current events and is a recognized faith thought leader. Sam is also the founder of A Greater Story Ministries which houses a nationally televised interview series and podcast called “A Greater Story with Sam Collier”.
