This past Sunday Guest Speaker Will Hart shared a powerful message.  He encouraged us that God is in every moment of our lives just as much as He's in the moments of ministry. Because as believers, we're in Him ✝️ Will cautioned us to be careful and not to be quick to judge what we see on the outside because what we may deem as "silly," God sees as holy and valuable.  He taught us that as we grow and walk through the stages of spiritual maturity described in 1 John 2:13-14, it's important that we listen to our fathers and mothers in Faith for spiritual guidance and wisdom as they have known Him who was from the beginning. https://www.bible.com/events/49063688 Church of the Nazarene - East Rock Stories of Your Life Part 3: Mary Mary- With Jesus at the beginning, with him until the end.‭‭ John‬ ‭19‬:‭23‬-‭25 ‬‬When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. “Let's not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let's decide by lot who will get it.” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, “They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.” So this is what the soldiers did. Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. Have you ever paused to consider how the story of her life was impacted by the cross? Mary, the mother of Jesus Can anyone else in the Passion story be more devastated than her in this moment? Yet, she is there. Close to Jesus. She was there because he was there. Nothing mattered to Mary more than Jesus...Can the same be said for you? I want to welcome you back to our Sunday morning teaching series “Stories of Your Life” As a church family we are seeking to understand the meaning and the impact of Passion week through the perspectives and stories of key people involved. We are reminded that these were real people, who had real questions and had to work through real challenges. People just like you and me. But in the story of their life, we see them experience real grace and mercy through the person of Jesus Christ. So, this series is about learning from their lives so that we too can know the forgiveness and life of Christ‭‭ Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭26‬-‭38 ‬‬It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.” There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. From the moment we meet Mary in the birth announcement, she is a woman of tremendous faith in the Lord.“IT could cost me my husband, it could cost me my future, it might even cost me my life- but Lord, I am your servant.” Mary was willing to trust the Lord with everything- She knew it wasn't going to be easy. Her marriage, her future, her dreams, her plans- she brings under the rule and authority of God. She simply says: So be it Lord, I am your servant.‭‭ John‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭5‬‬ On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Can you imagine this moment for Mary? Mary, aware of the problem and wanting to help, turns to Jesus. She was accustomed to trusting his resourcefulness over the years. She approaches him as she had so many times before- son can you help? But this time was different- He doesn't say “Sure mom”. This time- Jesus let's her know- Things are different now…She receives a gentle rebuke from her son. D.A. Carson says “This must have been extremely difficult for Mary. She had born him, nursed him, taught his baby fingers elementary skills, watched him fall over as he learned to walk…But now that he had entered into the purpose of his coming, everything, even family ties had to be subordinated to his divine mission.Dont miss verse 11 "What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him." Mary saw the glorious power and majesty of Christ, because she believed. Because her faith saw it fit to leave the matter in his hands.Mary trusted Him-Will you? By the time we meet Mary at the cross, we can only imagine the ways her faith has been tested. As a mother grieving and mourning over what is happening to her son.But also as a worshipper watching her Lord be crucified But she is there…She loves him to much to leave him. Throughout Mary's life she trusted God way beyond what made natural sense. When most wouldn't have believed- Mary did. And today friends, we have the great privilege and opportunity to learn from the story of her life. As you consider the story of your life this morning- I wonder, what is keeping you from responding like Mary did? Perhaps its doubt, or fear? Maybe you feel like Mary at the cross-the sky is dark and it all seems to be going wrong...What would it look like for you today to stick close with Jesus and simply pray "Lord i believe, help me overcome my unbelief"? (Mark 14:14) "Where is My Guest Room?" In preparation for the Feast, Jesus sent two of His disciples to Jerusalem. It was time for Jesus and His disciples to celebrate the Passover. The only problem was location. Where would they celebrate it? Where would Jesus be welcome? Where is Jesus welcome today? he asks the question in the end times to the church in Laodicea: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eath with him, and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20). The pictures given of this verse show Jesus standing outside a house with no knob on the outside of the door. The only way for Jesus to enter is to be brought in from the outside. The question remains: "Where is My guest room?" Is there a guest room open in your heart for Him? Will you let Him celebrate the Passover there? Will you let Him bring His all-for-one sacrifice into your life and forgive you of your sins? Amen.

Faith Without Works

Faith without works is dead. Many people confess to believe in Jesus but their works are evil. They are sinners. We read in 1 John 2:3 “By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:6the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” “By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.” Christians that sin and live in immorality do not know Jesus because they do not keep His commandments, they do not live according to His words, as also recorded in the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. A Christian that refuses to repent and be baptized, as Jesus commanded, does not know nor love Jesus. Jesus said:”If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.“John 14:15. “By this we know that we are in Him:6the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” Many Christians believers do not know Jesus and do not abide in Him, because they do not live as Jesus lived and taught His disciples to do. Their faith is in vain because their works prove that they do not know Jesus, nor stay in obedience to Him. They are like the world, the unbelievers that are perishing, they are heading for destruction, they are on their way to hell. We read in 1John 2:15 “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.” Those who love the world and the things of the world do not have any love for Jesus and therefor they do not obey Him, they practice sin, lawlessness, unrighteousness, their deeds are evil. Many are preachers, evangelists, street preachers, clergy, missionaries, church leaders, but they love the world and their works are evil. Jesus said “ 21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ “Matthew 7:21,22. If we know Jesus, our works will prove it, because we will obey Him and abide in Him.. The apostle John wrote in I John 2:28 ”Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. 29If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.” Do we abide in Him? Will we have confidence when Jesus appears, or will we hang our head in shame and shrink away from Him in fear because we did not obey Him. May Jesus bless you. A new life is realizing you have to connect to the true source of life, Jesus. Following Him completely is not about a check list of do's and don'ts, rules to memorize or a half-hearted commitment to ease the conviction you feel from time to time. Following Christ is knowing you were dead before you met Jesus and experiencing new life being breathed into you by the renewing of your heart and mind.  Jesus is the only one worthy of living or dying for. Everything else falls short of the absolute holiness of Christ and the supreme honor He is given by God for His obedience. God, in His great love for you and I, sent Jesus to rescue the world from our sinful nature so that we could share in His glory and experience true freedom from our rebel hearts. The only thing in our lives that truly matters is Jesus. Will you embrace Him? Will you allow Christ to give you new life that aims to proclaim the preeminence of Christ?   Colossians 3:1-4 Keith Wilson, Youth Pastor

GOSPEL OF THE DESCENT OF THE KINGDOM
How Important God's Love for Man Is

Accompaniment: The scene painted in the Bible “God’s command to Adam” is both touching and heartwarming. Although the picture contains only God and man, the relationship between the two is so intimate we start to feel wonder, wonder and admiration. 1. God’s love overflowing is freely given to man, God’s love is around him. Man, innocent and pure, without a care to tie him down, lives in bliss in the eyes of God. God takes care of man, and man lives under His wings. All that man does, all his words and deeds, are bound up with God, can’t be apart. 2. From the first moment God created the human race, God had them in His charge. What kind of charge is that? It’s for Him to protect man and to watch over man. He hopes for man to trust in, to trust in and obey His words. This was the first thing God expected of the human race. 3. Bearing this first hope, God spoke the following words: “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.” These simple words, standing for God’s will, show that concern for man was already in His heart. 4. So, in these simple words, we see what’s in God’s heart. Is there love in His heart? Isn’t there care and concern? God’s love and care is something that can be both felt and sensed. If you are a person of conscience and with humanity, you will feel warm, being cared for and loved, you will feel blessed with happiness. 5. When you feel these things, how will you act towards God? Will you cleave to Him? Will reverential love, will reverential love not grow in your heart? Will your heart draw close to Him? From this we see, how important God’s love for man is. But even more important than this is that man can feel and comprehend God’s love. from “God’s Work, God’s Disposition, and God Himself (1)” in The Word Appears in the Flesh Recommendation: Chinese Choir "How Important God’s Love for Man Is"

Jesus sets His face toward Jerusalem and looks toward His upcoming death. What did it cost His disciples, and what will it cost us to follow Him? Will we accept this supernatural grace and forsake all else to recklessly love and follow Jesus?

Seaside Church Sermons

What is your response to Who He is and who we are in Him? Will it be to work harder, better, smarter, faster, or will it be to run to the God who has chosen and will establish you? Do we understand the nature of the battle - the spiritual nature of an enemy who wants to destroy us? We can only fight the lies in our lives through the Truth.

Jesus went and suffered "outside the gate" of Jerusalem as He took on the cross, in order that He might save (sanctify) us. He set the example and He calls Christians to join Him "outside the gate" in order that we may partner with Him in His mission of bringing hope to a lost and dying world. What will you do? Will you choose Him? Will you "bear the reproach He endured"? Will you take up your cross? Or, will you choose the "American Dream"?
