Main Points Introduction: How can we address the discipleship deficit? I. The problem There is a need for discipleship II. The invitation of Jesus Jesus invites us to a life of abundance and purpose. III. We must come to Jesus and learn from Him if we are to experience the life He promises We must take His Yoke and learn from Him. IV. Coming to Jesus is an event and a lifelong process of learning to follow His example and His teaching The event = salvation - John 3:16 The process = discipleship - Matthew 4:19 The person = the path - John 14:6 V. Jesus practiced “the way” of living in dependency on the Spirit and submission to the Father He came Before God He did life In Community He was On Mission 24/7 VI. Jesus taught His disciples what was required to continually experience the supernatural life He gave them Abiding in Christ - John 15:1-11 Loving each other - John 15:12-17 Witnessing to the world - Matthew 28:18-20 VII. Although it is important to learn steps and principles in ministry, Duane Sheriff teaches that those principles should point you to a relationship with Jesus. Three rhythm of grace principles are: 1) learn to come unto Jesus, 2) learn to take His Yoke, and 3) learn of Him. When we develop disciplines that become a natural rhythm, ministry should come from a place of supernatural rest.

In this episode Caroline talks about how we can create prisons of our own devises or shall we say “vices”.  If we have confessed our sins and accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior nobody can separate us from Him. This doesn't mean we can't place things or other people in our lives as more important than God and become bound by them.  When we begin to create space for our sins, obsessions and anxieties making excuses for them we begin to sink into the crashing waves just like Peter did that day on when Jesus called Him out on the water. The good news is there is hope and God gives us all we need to daily surrender to Him and walk in freedom embracing His Yoke or way of doing things. Are you ready to be free?! Now Is The Time w/Rabbi Steve Berkson | Baptism of Fire | Part 3

Rabbi Steve Berkson begins Part 3 of this teaching in Leviticus 26:23 where he shows us that the Baptism of Fire has many facets such as being “instructed” of YHVH through “punishment” for disobedience and breaking His Covenant. Then, we see discipleship terminology as we go to Matthew 11:25-30 and read Yeshua's words, verse 29, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your beings. For My yoke is gentle and My burden is light.” This verse is linked back to Leviticus as YHVH told those of that time that He has broken the bars of their yoke (of Egypt) and made them walk upright (taking on His Yoke); the yoke symbolizes learning and being in submission to the Torah of YHVH which gives us rest which Rabbi Steve links to Jeremiah 6:16, Thus said ???? , “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves.” Rabbi Berkson then teaches us another facet of the Baptism of Fire which is the persecution we will face as we walk in Torah-Observance. Possibly, we may need to detach from things or others, even as close as our own hand or foot (Matt 18:8), so that we can walk unimpeded spiritually. Then, Rabbi Berkson takes us to the writings of the Apostle Shaul (Paul) to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 3) as the Apostle explains to his congregation that each one builds upon the foundation, which is Messiah Yeshua, using various materials. Those materials may or may not make it through the Baptism of Fire which, as Rabbi Berkson points out, is why it's so important for us to submit to a chosen and appointed authority, in discipleship, so that they can instruct us as to what materials we should build with that will pass through the fire to the other side. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, 19 TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD." 20 And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” [Act 12:4, 7, 10 NASB] 4 When he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out before the people. ... 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter's side and woke him up, saying, "Get up quickly." And his chains fell off his hands. ... 10 When they had passed the first and second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened for them by itself; and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. [Psa 15:1-5 NASB] 1 A Psalm of David. O LORD, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? 2 He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, And speaks truth in his heart. 3 He does not slander with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; 4 In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honors those who fear the LORD; He swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 He does not put out his money at interest, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken. [Pro 22:1 NASB] 1 A [good] name is to be more desired than great wealth, Favor is better than silver and gold.

Rabbi Steve Berkson begins Part 3 of this teaching in Leviticus 26:23 where he shows us that the Baptism of Fire has many facets such as being “instructed” of YHVH through “punishment” for disobedience and breaking His Covenant. Then, we see discipleship terminology as we go to Matthew 11:25-30 and read Yeshua’s words, verse 29, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your beings. For My yoke is gentle and My burden is light.” This verse is linked back to Leviticus as YHVH told those of that time that He has broken the bars of their yoke (of Egypt) and made them walk upright (taking on His Yoke); the yoke symbolizes learning and being in submission to the Torah of YHVH which gives us rest which Rabbi Steve links to Jeremiah 6:16, Thus said יהוה, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves.” Rabbi Berkson then teaches us another facet of the Baptism of Fire which is the persecution we will face as we walk in Torah-Observance. Those materials may or may not make it through the Baptism of Fire which, as Rabbi Berkson points out, is why it’s so important for us to submit to a chosen and appointed authority, in discipleship, so that they can instruct us as to what materials we should build with that will pass through the fire to the other side.
