After the election of Pope Leo XIV last week Fr Joseph turns his attention to his namesake Pope Leo the Great exploring the first of his extant letters. Fr Joseph Hamilton is the Rector of the Domus Australia in Rome, and a priest of the Archdiocese of Sydney Australia. Prior to his appointment at Domus, he served as private secretary to George Cardinal Pell, until the Cardinal's untimely death. Fr Joseph completed his doctoral studies in Patristics at Christ Church, University of Oxford, and his license at the Patristic Institute “Augustinianum” in Rome. Prior to entering seminary he worked as an investment banker. Having left the economy of Mammon for that of Salvation, he studied at the Pontifical North American College. A native of Ireland, he is a keen but mediocre (his words) surfer, and enjoys reading and cooking.CREDO (currently hosting Patristic Pillars) is a programme that nourishes listeners in their Catholic faith.

Welcome to a the new Knights of the Ledger Summit series from Stories from the River! This episode captures a presentation that podcast host and Broad River CEO Charlie Malouf gave at the 2nd Annual Knights Summit on March 26, 2025, in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Charlie begins by sharing insights into Broad River's growth journey over the last 20-plus years, focusing on past milestones and plans for the next year including Project Cascade, which aims to expand the company's geographical reach into the Inland Northwest in Spokane, Washington. Charlie discusses the four key areas of focus for 2025: driving revenue, continued innovation, operational efficiencies, and ensuring fortress security. He also discusses longer term future plans like the 2030 vision to grow to $500 Million. He emphasizes the importance of the pioneering spirit, encapsulated by the word "Pioneer," which was chosen as the company's 2025 word of the year. This encapsulates the aim to be innovative and exploratory in their endeavors. Charlie further engages the audience with thought-provoking exercises that demonstrate the power of compounding and investing in oneself. Through interactive dialogue, he illustrates the potential of small, consistent improvements leading to significant growth. This aligns with Broad River's philosophy, which values goal-setting and strategic planning to achieve long-term growth. Charlie reiterates the importance of Memory Makers in realizing these goals, noting that the company's success hinges on their growth and development. Overall, this episode serves as both an informative and a motivational session, aiming to prepare the finance department, fondly known as "Knights of the Ledger," for future challenges and opportunities. 21:24 "Nobody ever drifted to a destination they would have chosen." -Michael Hyatt 28:05 "If someone offered you a penny that doubles every day for 30 days or a million dollars today, which would you take?" 32:09 "If you improve by 1% every day, within a year you will have improved 365%. Think about that" 33:57 "When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split into two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before." - Jacom Riis The Stonecutter's Credo 34:27 "The best investment you will ever make is in yourself." This bonus episode is the live recording of the second part of the three part Teaching Mass series that Fr. K is doing as part of our Wednesday Ars Vivendi formation nights. In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. reflects on the “Judgement as a Setting for Learning and Practicing Hope” section of Spe Salvi by Pope Benedict XVI.41. At the conclusion of the central section of the Church's great Credo—the part that recounts the mystery of Christ, from his eternal birth of the Father and his temporal birth of the Virgin Mary, through his Cross and Resurrection to the second coming—we find the phrase: “he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead”. From the earliest times, the prospect of the Judgement has influenced Christians in their daily living as a criterion by which to order their present life, as a summons to their conscience, and at the same time as hope in God's justice. Faith in Christ has never looked merely backwards or merely upwards, but always also forwards to the hour of justice that the Lord repeatedly proclaimed. This looking ahead has given Christianity its importance for the present moment. In the arrangement of Christian sacred buildings, which were intended to make visible the historic and cosmic breadth of faith in Christ, it became customary to depict the Lord returning as a king—the symbol of hope—at the east end; while the west wall normally portrayed the Last Judgement as a symbol of our responsibility for our lives—a scene which followed and accompanied the faithful as they went out to resume their daily routine. As the iconography of the Last Judgement developed, however, more and more prominence was given to its ominous and frightening aspects, which obviously held more fascination for artists than the splendour of hope, often all too well concealed beneath the horrors. (From Spe Salvi, Pope Bendict XVI, 2007.) In the Catholic Church, the concept of Jubilee or ‘Holy Year' was used to declare special years for forgiveness and reconciliation. The first Jubilee was declared by Pope Boniface VIII on 22nd February 1300 (Feast of the Chair of St. Peter), to mark the beginning of that century. He later recommended it occurring every 100 years. This year the Church celebrates the Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope.
E nessuno ci insegna a farlo».

Our special, wise guest, Anita Stubenrauch, is one of the most creative people I've ever met. She's a writer, speaker, podcaster and entrepreneur. Our paths crossed when she delivered the keynote speech at a conference I attended last November in Austin, TX. Immediately after her presentation, I knew we had to have her on the show. Anita is a former Apple creative professional who spent a significant chunk of her career at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California. While working at Apple, Anita was tapped to write the Apple Credo. She also created presentations seen by Steve Jobs and other members of his executive leadership team. After leaving Apple, Anita founded a retreat space nestled in the mountains of California. It's called the Land of Make and Believe. She publishes a high-voltage podcast called "Hyperactive Imagination." Anita also runs a creative consultancy known as Cause Effect Creative, where she provides guidance to brands and brand builders, executives and entrepreneurs. In this enriching episode, you'll discover the main thing Anita has learned in her lifetime. Plus, you'll learn about: the power of storytelling; what it's like to work for one of the world's most storied and admired technology companies; and how a creative powerhouse finds her spark and navigates through the wilderness when that spark eludes her. Anita Stubenrauch joins us today from her home in the hills of Murphys, California. Now buckle up and get ready for a high energy whirlwind experience. Over the next 25 minutes, you will discover why Anita Stubenrauch is one of the wisest people I know.
