In this week's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I'm excited to bring you my conversation with Jane Erbacher from Erg Army (@ergarmy). Jane – who runs Erg Army – is an all round awesome person, and a guru at teaching the rowing and Ski ergs.  She has run hundreds of workshops all around the world helping to educate people on how to properly use the machines and has helped to coach some of the world's top athletes including Tia Clair Toomey, James Newbury, and Joanna Wietrzyk. Jane has been on the podcast before, over 18 months ago, and that was one of our most popular ever episodes and this one doesn't disappoint.  We talk all about her HYROX experiences since then, what she's learnt and changed her mind on regarding the ergs in HYROX, we get into the technique and pacing on the machines, and lots more.  It's always a pleasure chatting to Jane - full of laughs, energy, and tonnes of tips - and I think you'll really enjoy listening.

In today's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I get to chat with the wonderful Jane Erbacher. Jane runs Erg Army (https://www.instagram.com/ergarmy/) which you may have seen online – they put out a lot of great content, and run workshops all over the world, on using the Ergs (the row and ski, as well as the concept2 bike). She's helped hundreds of athletes fall in love with these machines and two of those athletes she has helped include James Newbury – who I recently interviewed on this podcast and who finished 5th at the CrossFit games - and Tia Clair Toomey who has pretty much dominated the CrossFit games for several years. We have a great chat and get into a lot of tips on how to use the machines, how to get set up, what damper setting to use, a great workout to do in your training, how to approach these machines in a doubles HYROX and lots more. There's a tonne of good tips in here for everyone, whatever your experience level is on the machines.

Jane Erbacher is a strength and conditioning coach and a pillar in the fitness industry. Not to mention having recently completed her law degree. Jane travels around the world teaching her rowing and ski-erg seminars and aims to bring people together to reduce chronic injury, assist gyms in member retention and education but ultimately- to have people walk away from a session feeling confident and invigorated. The audio was rough on us this day, though we had a wonderful time discussing all things pivotal, identity in the fitness industry, how covid has changed her attitude towards online delivery, moving locations, and how her friend Hamish Blake led her to the weapons of choice she has invested her profile in the fitness industry on. Contentment is defined as peaceful happiness and for so many of us, this is the ultimate goal: "I just want to feel content". But what if I asked you if you were content with your life right now? And then I asked you if you were content being content? For me life isn't simply peaceful happiness or smooth sailing. It's a challenge. It's ups and downs. It's excitement and growth. It's disappointment and pain. But you don't get stronger or build resilience by staying the same and being content. You get stronger by getting uncomfortable and taking action. You get stronger by surviving traumas and our heartbreaks. You get stronger by wanting more and not settling. If you're miserable, complaining, afraid or dissatisfied, stop waiting. Take action. Make changes. Don't settle for "content". Live.
