In dieser Folge der Ruhreule sprechen Seba und Rebecca mit Janes Hunke und Lena Freidank von der DLRG-Ortsgruppe Dellwig über ihre Arbeit, ihre Aufgaben und ihre persönlichen Wege zur Wasserrettung. Die beiden berichten, dass sie in der DLRG schwimmen gelernt haben und schon früh als Jugendliche in Ausbildung und Ehrenamt eingebunden waren. Ein Schwerpunkt der Folge ist die Schwimmausbildung. Janes und Lena erklären die Stufen von Wassergewöhnung und Wasserbewältigung bis zum Seepferdchen und weiter zum Rettungsschwimmer. Sie schildern auch, dass die DLRG in ihrer Ortsgruppe viele Mitglieder hat, aber nur ein Teil davon aktiv mitarbeitet. Außerdem sprechen sie über Einsätze am Beckenrand, an der Küste und bei Personensuchen. Lena schildert einen besonders belastenden Einsatz in Huvacht, bei dem es um eine Reanimation am Strand ging. Beide betonen, dass es bei ihrer Arbeit um schnelle Hilfe, Teamarbeit und Nachbesprechungen nach schweren Situationen geht. Ein weiteres Thema ist die Organisation der DLRG. Janes erklärt die Struktur aus Ortsgruppen, Bezirken, Landesverbänden und Bundesverband sowie den hohen Anteil ehrenamtlicher Arbeit in den Ortsgruppen. Sie berichten auch über Mitgliedsbeiträge, Treffpunkte im Freibad Dellwig und die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Ortsgruppen. Zum Schluss geht es um technische Hilfsmittel wie Drohnen und Wasserrettungsroboter, die bei der Suche nach Personen und bei Rettungseinsätzen unterstützen sollen. Janes und Lena ermutigen dazu, sich zu melden, wenn man helfen oder schwimmen lernen möchte, und machen deutlich, wie wichtig ehrenamtliches Engagement in der DLRG ist.

Dream Initiation with Sarah Janes Sarah Janes is a lifelong lucid dreamer and the author of Initiation into Dream Mysteries: Drinking from the Pool of Mnemosyne. She collaborates with researchers and institutions to explore Egyptology, dream incubation, and ancient healing traditions, and co-operates The Seventh Ray virtual reality mystery school.
