www.commsolutionsmn.com- The State of MN Department of Education is trying to pass new teacher licensing requirements. They are requiring teachers to assent to certain Marxist philosophies and agree to teach them to their students or they will no longer be able to teach in a public or private school. This crowds out every single teacher that disagrees with these philosophies. Educators will need to "demonstrate ideologically-driven content in their coursework" in order to get licensed to teach. This includes CRT, LGBTQ+ agenda, gender identification, Comprehensive Sexual Education, and other controversial topics. They not only have to teach kids that they are either victims or oppressors, based on their level of intersectionality, but teachers have to examine and account for their own biases, as well. It supposes that we are racists, homophobes, and transphobes before we ever get a chance. Guilty until proven innocent, that is the new norm here in America. We have to make our voice heard now. We also discuss Governor Walzie-Walz's recent Esme Murphy interview at the State Fair. He claimed students only missed ten days of in-class learning over the COVID pandemic. Uhhh... false. Of course they tried to spin it later, but that's a pretty ridiculous claim. Who's paying attention? And why doesn't anyone seem to represent the average person? Warning: rants a-plenty. www.commsolutionsmn.com- Just when you think that we've talked about the stupidest thing on the face of the planet, we blow even our own expectations. I-94 is going to need some major repairs to bring it into the future, but Our Streets Minneapolis and MNDOT have a great idea. We need to rip out I-94 completely and replace it with the Twin Cities Boulevard. What? So we're going to take one of the busiest corridors in all of the city, with hospitals, sports stadiums, and two major downtown business centers, and just remove the freeway that moves most of those vehicles from point "A" to point "B". They would like to have a boulevard with stop lights instead, and push all the traffic to 694 and 494. The MN Department of Transportation (MNDOT) has had their "Rethinking I-94" in the works for years. They are working with groups like Our Streets Minneapolis to develop alternatives to I-94, so that communities can be reconnected. There isn't anyone around that remembers when I-94 was built, and is clamoring for a simpler day. It's just not true. The activists say that highways are racist. What isn't nowadays? It's not just in the Twin Cities either... Duluth wants to remove part of I-35 too. The manipulation is off the charts and it's obscene. Take the survey on MNDOT's website and make your voice heard now. Soon, it will be too far down the line to stop. Also, the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers is pushing for a 20% pay increase, plus a whole host of other unreasonable demands. They actually have the gall to claim that it's for the kids. It's time to get your kids out of that district while there is still time. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? This week on the Minnesota Native News Health Report…All adults 18 and older are eligible and should get a Covid-19 booster shot…. And… 400 MN National Guard members begin training to become temporary nursing aids… to help with health care worker shortage. Plus, need help paying your home heating bill? … Or getting a broken furnace repaired?Federal funds are available…. We will tell you how to apply. I'm Marie Rock. Story AFederal regulators expanded COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to all adults… last week. And now State Health Officials are urging all Minnesotans to get their booster shots… eligibility expands to all people 18 and up. For people who received their first and second dose of the Pfiizer vaccine or the Moderna vaccine… they should get their booster shot 6-months after their second dose. For people who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine…. They should get their booster shot 2-months after their single dose. Getting a booster is the best way to maximize protection against serious illness and sometimes deadly effects of contracting COVID-19. The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced these new booster recommendations for because evidence is mounting… that immunity to COVID infections from vaccines… lessens over time. Mayo Clinic Doctor Abinash Virk explains: “Boosters have increased the antibody response significantly after the third dose much higher than even the second dose. Therefore, we know there is going to be increased protection.” For more information about when and where to get your booster shot go online to Vaccineconnector DOT MN DOT gov Story B This comes as cases continue to surge in our Minnesota… with the CDC reporting that all 87 counties in our state remained at a HIGH level of COVID-19 community transmissions. This news is alarming Nursing home administrators who are having trouble keeping enough people on staff to care for elderly and vulnerable residents. In response, Governor Walz has activated the National Guard to help facilities experiencing staff shortages and are struggling to meet the needs of patients in long-term care centers. This week, 400 guard members began a one-week training session to become certified nursing assistants and temporary nursing aides. Then the guards will form skilled nursing response teams to provide on-site staffing support for up to 3 weeks at a time. To get this help… Nursing home administrators just need to contact the MN Department of Health and ask for assistance. The shortage of care workers is problem nationwide, with burned-out workers quitting in record numbers. Story C In other news… Winter weather means fun outdoor activities for many in our state… But for some… the cold temperatures raise concern and anxieties about how to pay for soaring heating bills. The Energy Assistance program or EAP has money available to help people pay for home heating, water costs and furnace repairs. The EAP grants are for income-qualified households. EAP is a federally funded program and the grants range from 3-hundred dollars to 2-thousand dollars which are paid directly to energy providers and utility companies. Grants are available to both renters and homeowners. Applications ask about household size and income. To apply for this grant…. Find your EAP provider by calling 1-800-657-3710… that's 1-800-657-3710 Or search for Energy Assistance Program on the MN dot gov website. In April, Gov. Walz signed an executive order that allowed the MN Department of Health to share certain information about COVID-19 cases with the Department of Public Safety. The goal of this EO was to protect the health of first responders in emergency situations. In communities of color and immigrant communities, however, distrust of law enforcement, fear of police retaliation (especially in the wake of George Floyd's murder) and concern over health data privacy meant that a policy such as EO 20-34 could lead individuals to forgo COVID-19 testing. Abeer Syedah, a member of the Our Stories. Our Health., and Erin Murphy join Hayley to talk about the ways in which policies intended to help communities might actually cause more harm, and the ways we can craft policies to realize a more just and equitable society.

Shocking: doctors told to fill out COVID death certificates without tests Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B20klwaqTw&feature=youtu.be Minnesota (POVnow) MN Sen. and Dr. Jensen said that he received a 7 page document from the MN Department of Health advising him to fill out death certificates with a diagnosis of #COVID-19 whether the person actually died from COVID-19 or not. Can we trust the death numbers we've been seeing?
www.commsolutionsmn.com- The MN Department of Education recently put out a survey that should make parents very worried. They asked students super personal questions that they had no rights to ask them. They gathered information about gender identity, sexual orientation, after school supervision, drug and alcohol use, mental health, and plenty more invasive questions... including questions about you (their parents). After reading through this as a parent, how can you not be totally upset that your school district would ask some of these questions of your children? Also, some of these numbers verify that the things that schools have been pushing (gender identity, equity, fewer suspensions, etc) are not an issue for almost every child that took the survey. Then what are we doing spending all this time, money, and resources on something that's not a problem? Why all of the programs? Ok, can we just get back to reading, writing, and 'rithmetic already? We review what the fine taxpayers of ISD 281 are getting for the money they volunteered to give up to the district in the last referendum. Let's just say they are spending a ton of money on hiring non-educational staff. They've hired a number of Equity Specialists to do "something". Yeah, we're not sure what they do either. Lastly, we also breakdown the whole impeachment debacle. Was there bribery? Was there quid pro quo? Are the media and the democrats running the biggest scam in history? This thing is rotten to the core and the media isn't giving you the full story. We tell you what we know. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? www.commsolutionsmn.com- We hear The MN Department of Education and our school districts talking about the looming "education gap" between the advantaged and the disadvantaged. Minorities, the poor, and those with tough family situations can never achieve the same kinds of success as their counterparts that seem to "have it all". Really? Isn't American history rife with stories of people that overcame all the odds to achieve more than they had ever dreamed possible? Of course it is. Instead of studying those people and trying to find the secret to their success, the MN Department of Education just wants to throw $600 Million at the problem. Oh, we've tried this before, but have not seen any measurable improvement. Why not try it again? That's because they don't have any answers, save that the government is our answer. The only thing progressives understand is taking more of our money and throwing it at a problem with no plan and no accountability for improvement. We argue that they could throw $600 quadrillion at the "education gap" and never see the results they desire. We have some ideas... or rather some solutions. We'd love to hear what you think! We also check back in on the evolving saga that is the Lakeland City Council. If you remember a few episodes ago, we told you all about council member, Jim Stanton, who resigned... then tried to un-resign... then resigned again, because there was a disagreement about his being elected to the city council while holding two part-time staff positions with the city. Mayor, Richard Glasgow, supported Stanton staying in place, and after the departed city councilman left, unilaterally selected and appointed Stanton's replacement, Doug Sand. This has resulted in the creation of a concerned citizen's group, the cancelling of the meeting to swear in Sand, and the involvement of the Washington County Sherrif's office. Ruh roh... A guide for those interested in hearing more about fishing and other paths to eating more responsibly. Now here's your host, Mark Norquist. Mark: 00:23 Hey everyone. Welcome to episode number eight of Modern Carnivore Podcast. Mark: 00:30 Today we're going to talk about Wilderness areas. And more specifically, we're going to take you to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which is the most threatened Wilderness in the U.S. So before we get into that, let's do a little background on what we mean by wilderness with a capital w. The Wilderness Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B Johnson in 1964 and it created the National Wilderness Preservation System and it also put a legal definition around the term Wilderness. One of the primary authors of this act, Howard Zahniser, uh, defined it this way, "A Wilderness, in contrast with those areas where man and his own works dominate the landscape is hereby recognized as an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain. BWCAW Hunting and Fishing Mark: 01:43 It's really protective overlay that's applied to certain areas in our country; certain areas of public lands. They could be national forest parks, wildlife refuges, any number of different places. Um, one of the criticisms that has been made in the past about it is the reference to quote man himself as is a visitor who does not remain. But I think that's the critical element of it and why it is really unique. So if you think about it, there are very few places where there are no buildings, no roads, no machines, and the only really semi-permanent structures I can think of would be these throne toilets. Basically a seat to sit on and do your business and the fire grades to control where you, where you do fires. And that's specific to the Boundary Waters where we're at today. And I think that's a pretty special thing in something that is, that is needed in this world. Mark: 02:52

“We started with a seed and a big dream.” Dr. Andy Bachman is the CEO/President and Co-Founder of LeafLine Labs, one of just two authorized providers of medical cannabis in the state of Minnesota. Dr. Bachman is a board-certified physician with more than a decade of emergency room medical experience. It was in the ER that Dr. Bachman saw firsthand the epidemic of opioid misuse in this country. After years of watching addiction and overdose rates soar, Dr. Bachman felt a responsibility to give his beloved Minnesotans an alternative. In May of 2014, Minnesota became the 22nd state in the nation to legalize medical cannabis, but it was the first state to provide governance under the Office of Medical Cannabis inside the MN Department of Health. According to Dr. Bachman, many states are beginning to model Minnesota's program, which is one of the more highly restrictive in the country. Today, Dr. Bachman and Leafline Labs treats a patient roughly every 30 minutes for one of ten qualifying conditions that have been approved by the state. These include individuals with cancer, HIV/AIDS, Tourette's Syndrome, ALS, intractable pain, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis/muscle spasms, epilepsy/seizures, inflammatory bowl disease, and terminal illnesses. Car crashes remain the leading cause of death and injury for children under 14 years of age, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But many of those injuries and fatalities can be prevented if we follow best practices in passenger safety. Heather Darby, coordinator of passenger safety for the MN Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety, joins Marti & Erin for an important conversation about proper use of car seats, how to know if shoulder straps are providing the protection they should, why airbags pose a danger for children under 13 and how heavy winter clothes can compromise the effectiveness of seatbelts and car seats. Heather also helps Marti & Erin think about how to explain that a 12-year-old is safer in the back seat even if she’s the same height as Grandma! What are the ages of your children and what are the laws and best practices for keeping them safe in the car? What other adults drive your children and how well do they understand passenger safety rules and recommendations? To locate a Minnesota car seat check near you, click here.
