In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker provide one of the most comprehensive expositions of the history and purpose of public schools you will hear anywhere. Public education was never about education—it was always about indoctrination. Schools don't merely teach facts; they shape souls. And today, they're molding the children of Christian parents into the image of progressive ideology, not Christ. Parents, ask yourself: Who's really discipling your kids?SupportTo support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/Disclaimer© Darrell B. Cultural and political debates around DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and climate change dominate headlines—but what deeper ideas are fueling these movements? Why did these ideas gain such traction, and how should Christians respond? Instead of impulsively reacting to the latest controversies, we explore how to replace false ideas with biblical truth, offering a transformative alternative for meaningful change. Darrell Harrison is the lead host of the well-known Just Thinking podcast and a fellow at the Black Theology and Leadership Institute at Princeton Theological Seminary. He helps us move beyond surface-level arguments and uncover the worldviews shaping these narratives.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!
The Church is under relentless attack from the culture. That reality should not be surprising to believers in Christ. But how should professing Christians respond biblically to those spiritual, theological, ideological, and philosophical attacks? In this 'freestyle' episode, Darrell and Virgil discuss some of the ways the culture, or what Jesus refers to in John 17:9 as "the world," aims to undermine the gospel and how we can respond to those attacks with the truth. Sanctification is among the most important yet least-talked about doctrines in evangelicalism today. Why? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil (Omaha) Walker will discuss that topic, looking to what Scripture has to say about what sanctification is, why sanctification matters, how sanctification is accomplished, what sanctification looks like, and what are some hindrances to sanctification in the life of a Christian. Send us a textGUEST: DARRELL HARRISON, pastor and co-host, Just Thinking podcastIt's been an unprecedented ascent for Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for president. She dropped out early in the 2020 Democratic primary due to low poll numbers but was then chosen by Joe Biden to be his running mate after he promised to select a woman. And then late in her unremarkable term as vice president, Harris was chosen to be the party's nominee for president after Biden was forced out of the race due to cognitive decline.Aside from delegates at the recent Democrat National Convention, no one has directly voted for Kamala Harris to be nominee for president. No matter—half of the electorate are fully enthused at the prospect of “making history with the country's first black, female president”.Never mind that she was considered the most leftist member when she was a U.S. Senator from California. Never mind that she fully supports the killing of unborn babies all the way up to the time of birth. In fact, Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz are the highest ranking government officials to visit an abortion center. And she checks all the rest of the left's boxes—homosexual/transgender advocacy, illegal immigration, redistributive economic policies, pro-Palestine, and more.So how it is possible in a nation built on Christian values with individual liberties that a candidate who opposes that may very well be our next president?Darrell Harrison is on the pastoral staff Redeemer Bible Church in Gilbert, AZ and the co-host of the Just Thinking podcast. He will join us this weekend to better understand Kamala Harris and why she garners so much support. We do this topic, not to tell you who to vote for, but to compare and contrast the candidate's policies against the standard of God's Word so your vote can be informed by a Biblical worldview.

It is a question that seemingly arises during every presidential election cycle: For which candidate should a Christian vote? In 2024, the choice is between sitting Vice President of the United States Kamala Devi Harris and former President of the United States Donald John Trump, each of whose respective platforms, particularly on issues such as abortion, fail to align with a biblical worldview. Given that unfortunate reality, how is a believer in Christ to vote? In this "freestyle" episode, Darrell and Virgil help provide biblical guidance to believers who are attempting to discerningly answer that question for themselves. This brodcast was previously aired 01/13/2024.GUEST: DARRELL HARRISON, pastoral staff, Redeemer Bible Church, Gilbert, AZThere are only two foundations for thinking and living: the perfect Word of God or the flawed word of man.In running further and further away from the truth of God's Word, our leaders and people run headlong into the fallen and foolish reasonings of man that Paul warned Christians to avoid:“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ” (Colossians. 2:8).The empty deceptions of our day are seen and felt everywhere now. When one believes the lie that white, male, heterosexual Christians are responsible for victimizing everyone else, causing every conflict and ill, flawed and discriminatory solutions like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) which actually codifies injustice and discrimination against the alleged oppressors.Christians live in this fallen world with all its ungodly philosophies and so we must informed and prepared when it confronts us in our workplace, school, church, or even with children in our home who have been taken captive.Darrell Harrison, host of the Just Thinking podcast and a member of the pastoral staff at Redeemer Bible Church in Gilbert, AZ, joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to provide deeper insight on ideologies like DEI and pejorative terms like “colonization” used toward Americans and Israelis. He will also explain how these deceptions need to be especially resisted at the door of the church.-----------------------Darrell Harrison's podcast: Just Thinking is a long-form, expository podcast that boldly confronts cultural, social, political and theological issues through an orthodox biblical worldview.

In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, co-hosts Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker discuss a biblical theology of abortion from the 3-point thesis that: 1) Abortion is the premeditated murder of unborn image-bearers of God (Gen. 1:27). 2) Murder is sin in God’s sight (Ex. 20:13). 3) In view of numbers 1 and 2, no individual has the right to premeditatedly end the life of an unborn child regardless of the circumstances by which that unborn child is conceived. Additionally, Darrell and Virgil connect the issue of abortion to the historical agenda of feminism and the LGBTQ movement of the 1800s. How dangerous is pride? Join Ray Comfort and the guys as they combat issues of pride with today's guest; Virgil Walker, Executive Director of Operations of G3 Ministries and co-host of the Just Thinking podcast.Today's episode highlights the foundational nature of pride in our lives and how cultivating a regular practice of spending time in the Word, prayer, and devotion can help maintain humility. This time doesn't need to be elaborate or complicated, but rather a simple routine of reading the Bible, praying, and starting the day with God. By being immersed in scripture and dedicating time to prayer, Christians gain perspective and learn from the examples of humility found in the Bible. This practice keeps believers grounded and reminds them of their own need for the gospel and its proclamation, just as much as the people they share it with. The conversation also delves into the dangers of social media and its potential to breed pride. The hosts address the blessing of being able to influence thousands, or even millions, of people worldwide with a simple click or tap. However, there are also inherent dangers, particularly when it comes to illuminating the unchecked pride in our hearts. One of the dangers highlighted is the lack of filters and buffers on social media. It is all too easy to impulsively share frustrations with the world without considering the consequences. This can lead to sinful behavior, as individuals may feel a sense of superiority or importance when their opinions or actions gain attention on social media. To guard against this, the hosts share the importance of cultivating true humility. They discuss the significance of being connected to a local church and caution against being more focused on ministry "out there" rather than being rooted in a community of believers. By staying connected to a local church, individuals can receive accountability, support, and guidance to help them remain grounded and humble in their actions and influence.Towards the end of the conversation, they explore how daily devotion with God is significant to Christian maturity. The more time you spend with God, the more you will be strengthened to resist the pride of life. This podcast episode offers a thoughtful discourse on how Christians can uphold faithfulness to God, combat pride, and utilize digital platforms to glorify God in our fast-paced digital world. It provides valuable insights for those looking to use social media for a higher purpose or those seeking to deepen their Christian walk. This episode was recorded at G3 2023 National Conference. Thanks for listening! GUEST: DARRELL HARRISON, co-host, Just Thinking Podcast“Environmentalism” then “global warming” now “climate change” (or “creation care” to some Christians) is one of the most useful means to achieve humanistic ends of global control.Energy is a fundamental aspect of life. Our bodies need energy to survive and therefore we eat animals and plants, which require energy to farm and harvest, which require energy to transport to markets, which require energy to build and cool and heat, which need power plants to produce, which need people to operate, who need energy to live, and well, you get the circular cycle. So if “the science” can be “settled” that humans' use of fossil fuels (like coal, natural gas, and petroleum) are harming the earth and threatening our very existence, then the powers that be “must act” to save us from self-annihilation through restricting the energy we use to live, eat, travel, work, and more. This is why dire predictions of climate catastrophe are constantly peddled—to create fear so that people will accept the control governments seek to impose on their lives.Climate change is about control, power, money, and global governance (otherwise the scaremongers wouldn't be hypocritically living in large, energy-sapping estates and flying here and there on private jets). But there's something even deeper—climate change is, at its core, a religion which rejects worship of the Creator and instead worships the creation and the creature (man). This is exactly what the Bible says about the God-rejecting: “For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25).Ideologies like climate change that seek to mislead Christians to gain their support will invariably use language and concepts of Scripture to entice them to their side. Climate change plays into Christians' desire to care for God's creation, to have compassion on those ostensibly harmed by climate change (“to love our neighbors”), to “do good” in our world, and to not be outsiders by questioning “the experts”.This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Darrell Harrison, co-host of the Just Thinking podcast, “a long-form, expository podcast that boldly confronts cultural, social, political, and theological issues through an orthodox biblical worldview”, joins us to discuss How the “Empty Deception” of Climate Change Entices the Christian Mind.---------------------Related Podcast: Darrell and his co-host, Virgil Walker, just did an episode on “A Biblical Theology of Climate Change” that reveals how climate change is a religion that Christians need to discern as unbiblical.Related Resource: Global Warming Skepticism for Busy People

“Climate change.” The term is ubiquitous. Everywhere you turn, it seems, the phrase “climate change” is in your face. But what exactly is “climate change” in the first place? Is it the same thing as biblical stewardship of the earth and its resources? How are Christians understand what “climate change” is and respond biblically to it? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker take you directly to Scripture to answer those questions, and others, in this expanded episode titled, A Biblical Theology of Climate Change. What is spiritual warfare, biblically, and what practical steps can believers in Jesus Christ take to engage in that warfare victoriously? According to 1 Thessalonians 5:18, believers in Jesus Christ are to “give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” But does ‘everything' include giving thanks to God when we suffer? Does the world have anything to offer the Church today? It appears that some protestant churches, denominations - and their leaders - seem to think so. But to what end? What's the payoff for them? Are there to be no distinctions between the kingdom of darkness (the world) and the kingdom of Light (the Church) in our churches and denominations? Those questions, and others, are the focus of Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled "Cultural Denominationalism." Behavioral perfectionism – not to be confused with the doctrine sometimes referred to as Christian perfectionism or sinless perfection – is a sin many professing Christians struggle with (yes, it is a sin). But not only is the individual perfectionist affected by their behavior, so are those who are closest to them. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker leverage their experience as biblical counselors to walk you through what the Word of God, and other trusted biblical sources, have to say about dealing biblically with the issue of behavioral perfectionism toward the goal of gaining victory over it. In Colossians 2:8, the apostle Paul exhorts believers to not be taken captive through philosophies and deceptions that are rooted in the traditions of men. Deconstruction, a philosophy that has its origins in Marxism, is one of those deceptions. And yet, there are those within evangelicalism today who are actively promoting and advocating that deconstruction is good and virtuous for the church. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, hosts Darrell Harrison and Virgil ‘Omaha' Walker make it clear that they do not concur with that view. Listen as they “turn pages” and discuss what God's Word has to say about “Evangelical Deconstructionism.” That's the title of episode 117 of the Just Thinking podcast.
