In episode 474, Kathleen Phillips teaches us 10 unique ways to grow our network and create valuable opportunities for our blogs. Kathleen Phillips is a cookbook author and professional food stylist. She is the creator and digital publisher of her food blog GritsAndGouda.com. Drawing upon years of experience as a test kitchen director (Oxmoor House-former cookbook publisher for Southern Living/Cooking Light/and more), she takes traditional Southern recipes and makes them with a shortcut so you can enjoy them faster. She likes to say she's “Short and Southern, just like her recipes”. She incorporates fresh ingredients from her own garden as well as local, seasonal ingredients. Her love for local farmers led to her becoming one of the first Sweet Grown Alabama ambassadors. In this episode, you'll learn different ways to make long-term connections that will help you grow your center of influence and reach your goals quicker. - Networking is most valuable when you have a clear goal in mind. - You cannot predict where the connections you make today might lead you in the future. - Reach out to a big blogger in your niche and ask to meet for coffee. - Comment on other bloggers social media - use their first name in comments to have more impact. - Why should you join your Chamber of Commerce? - Contact the PR person for cooking stages at large home shows and women's shows. - Find unique locations in your area where you can teach cooking classes. - Reach out to local TV stations to be on morning cooking segments. - Contact local print and digital magazines to feature your recipes. Acupuncture is a practice originating from traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate natural healing processes. I had it done on my right hand when I was healing from a broken Bennet's joint and on my shoulder when I was healing from a torn rotator cuff -- both epically stupid softball injuries. I also had it done on Shep in Calgary when we couldn't get in to see his chiropractor. That was in 2011 or 12. Over the last 20 years, acupuncture has picked up steam as a valuable therapeutic option for pets, especially senior cats and dogs. It helps with pain management, stress and anxiety reduction, mobility and flexibility and support for organ function. It has even been shown to improve weak immune systems. Today, Lynn Sehnert of Lance and Lili Pet Photography in Loudon County, Virginia, whose story you heard last week, interviews the veterinarian who helps manage her two dogs' health and anxiety. Dr. Kathleen Phillips owns the Franklin Farm Veterinary Clinic in Herndon, Virginia. She is originally from Buffalo, New York, and is the unfortunate fan of the NHL Sabres and the NFL Bills … as we say in the sports world, always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Anyhow … Dr. Phillips shares with us how acupuncture works and how she has seen vast improvements in the health and quality of life of several patients. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onelastnetwork/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/onelastnetwork/support

Hey firecrackers! What an amazing time we’re living in. Every time I hop onto social media, (which lets face it, is where I get my news), I’m seeing all of the courageous and powerful stories from these incredible women coming forward about their experiences. Their bravery is so inspiring and I just want to say it again, to all of these women, you are supported and keep speaking your truth! Keep speaking up and lets keep moving toward a better future! Next up, our guest this week is Kathleen Phillips, man this firecracker is truly a jacqueline of all trades! She’s been on ’Sunnyside’, ‘Mr. D’, and ‘Filth City’ amongst much, much more. I’ve always admired her and am thankful I get to call her a friend. Enjoy, firecrackers!
