Amber's main vision is decolonizing the menstrual cycle experience, helping menstruators to experience transformational menstrual embodiment through education and holistic healing, however that may look for feel for them. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let's get started! Nadia: Dear Doctor Cabral, thank you so much for all you do to help the community and for your very interesting podcast! I would like to ask if you could indicate me in which direction we could look regarding my dad's health. He is 62 years old, 5feet7 and weighs now less then 125 pounds. He has always been thin (even though he eats 3 times more then the rest of the family) but muscular. But now he really has just skin on his bones even though he still eats a lot (and healthy). He goes to the bathroom at least once a day, sometimes after every meal, which is very good. And his blood work came back normal. He's been trying to gain weight for years but he just gets more and more skinnier and is pretty preoccupied. He is very active all day, always working around the house, in the garden, loves hiking and biking. A Nutritionist told him years ago that it will be impossible for him to gain weight and that it's much easier for overweight people to lose weight. Do you have any advice on how my dad could get to a normal weight again or what we should look at? Thanks so much for your time and help, Have a great day, Nadia Erin: Vitamin c help!! Ok so i was told only to take food based vitamin c but all the other is synthetic and depletes copper....so can you please clear this up for me. I really appreciate it!! Ryan: Hello! I have seen recently a somewhat controversial opinion on D3 supplementation and would like your opinion. Usually, I'd gloss over something like this, but considering the high reputation of the source in the functional/integrative space, I thought I'd get your highly valued opinion. Quote… "D3 is not what they measure in a vitamin D test. They measure 25D. The problem is, they should be measuring 1,25D, and better yet, the ratio between the two. Supplementing D3 will raise your 25D levels which shuts down your vitamin D receptors and innate immune system function. Supplementing D3 above what we naturally get in food will massively increase calcium absorption. In a hard-drinking water world, that causes hypercalcemia, magnesium and K2 deficiency.” Jamie: Hi Dr Cabral thank you for all you do. I have been listening for a very long time. I'll try to keep this short as I did try to search if you have talked about this before but couldn't find anything. I currently see a Dr who claims to be an integrative doctor local to me. I'm 33 year old female. I weigh around 130#. My symptoms have been thinning hair, nail fungus, zero libido, zero energy and pms 2 weeks prior to menstruating, (this has been for many years) increase of stress the past two years due to my job. . He did lab work and my thyroid levels are low, and vitamin d was low. He also told me that I should take Progesterone 100mg qhs for the pms symptoms / low energy. Long story short I'm taking t3/t4 15mcg daily (along with fish oil, vitamin d, b complex, magnesium from EquiLife) I had more lab work done recently and my IGF-1 is 208 (says it should be 280) and he is recommending Sermorelin therapy. I googled it and it sounds fantastic. All the things I need (energy, libido etc) but my question is being only 33 (no kids) is going to harm me in the long run taking these hormones? I know you can't tell me to stop, I just need advice on really what this Sermorelin therapy is and if it is going to hurt me in the long run taking progesterone “forever”. Thank you Leah: Big thanks to you and the team for all the information you put out! If you must get the vaccine, and it is not your preference to do so, can you detox from it? And if so, how? Thanks! Andrea: My 9 year old daughter started menstruating this month. She is already taking a daily multivitamin, what other supplement would you advise her growing body would need to better support her during this stage? There are many cycles of life that are important to recognize as they are related to all aspects of our being, including our mental health. It brings up this notion of continual change and letting that be not only okay, but interesting and invigorating. In this episode, Myra discusses:How to value creation and destruction in equal measure. The impact of early childhood samskara, or impressions, on our ability to flow with the cycles of life. Why restoring our connection to nature supports us to meet each state of life with greater ease, including purberty, menstruation, adulthood, child-rearing, menopause, and the wise years. Thanks for tuning in to the Everyday Ayurveda and Yoga at Hale Pule podcast. It's that time of the month when Aunt Flow drops by for a visit, it's shark week, it's the crimson tide, it's your period. The Woman Beings discuss the most famous phase of your beloved cycle (like the John Lennon of the Beatles): menstruation. Periods are undoubtedly America's least favorite topic, next to how bad bacon really is for you and California's homeless problem. Truth be told, there's no need to be afraid of periods, other than the fact that it involves copious amounts of blood, painful cramping, and monster-like tendencies. Periods affect almost all women, some men, and some people in between, a huge percentage of the population, yet society continues on from day to day as if it's a huge secret. Not today, Satan. This episode is here to talk about periods, loud and proud. So, get your period underwear on, grab a heating pad, and snuggle up for a real kick in the uterus. What's good RAP Gang??? This week's episode we are not holding back.... We are talking about the forbidden subject of *GASP*.... PERIODS!!! *cue the ewwwwsss* But this is exactly why we are having this conversation. Menstruation is always made to be such a taboo topic despite the fact that it is the most natural thing that humans born with vaginas can experience. It exists. It happens. EVERY month. Yet, for whatever reason, basic human anatomy is looked down upon as if we should be ashamed of our bodies and what changes are happening to us during this time. We are here to address the elephant in the room with personal stories, shared experiences and thoughtful questions and how women can be betetr supported during this time. Tune in you don't want to miss this week's episode of Radical Alignment!

Being a very open person when it comes to discussing periods/menstruation/anything involving the uterus, it's important to only have people in my life who are comfortable discussing these topics as well, which is why this is the topic for the week. It's important to note I am not a doctor nor an expert; I just wanted to share my experiences and own period-related health problems. Other things discussed in this episode: examples of how people (especially men) can help girls who are menstruating, different examples of irregular periods, pregnancy, and everything in between. Nadya Okamoto joined The Take On. And we are talking about all things Periods! Menstruation. That time of the month. Aunt Flo. Being on the Rag. There is so much intrigue and shame around something biological that happens to bodies every month. And it's not always women's bodies there are so many people who are assigned biologically female and no longer identify as such who have periods. Nadya is destigmatizing periods and breaking down the patriarchy. We also talk the tampon tax, and how having periods in many parts of the world means it's the end of your formal education. Nadya is an outspoken period activist and is attempting to educate people about how to fully embrace their periods. Join us as discuss periods and the many ways we as a society can support people who have periods every month. If you're feeling like you want to unpack a topic that should not be taboo anymore then this is the episode for you. More about Nadya: Nadya Okamoto is a 23-year-old Harvard student. In early 2020, Okamoto co-founded August, a lifestyle brand working to reimagine periods. As the Today Show describes, “August is a growing online community aiming to "re-imagine and redefine the period experience to be powerful and dignified," with members who engage in conversations about how to properly use menstrual cups or what it's like to be a transgender man having a period, for example.” Nadya Okamoto is also the Founder of PERIOD (period.org), an organization fighting to end period poverty and stigma that she founded at the age of 16. Under her leadership as Executive Director for five years, PERIOD addressed over 1.5 million periods and registered over 800 campus chapters in all 50 states and 50 other countries. In 2017, Nadya ran for public office in Cambridge, MA at age 19 — at the time, becoming the youngest Asian American to run. In 2018, Nadya published her debut book, Period Power: A Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement with publisher Simon & Schuster, which made the Kirkus Reviews list for Best Young Adult Nonfiction of 2018. Nadya is also the former Chief Brand Officer and current Board Member of JUV Consulting, a Generation Z marketing agency based in NYC.
