Point is algae is high pH and could be throwing off my stomach acid making matters worse, plus the algae feeds good and bad bacteria so I'm sure that didnt help while I was on the cbo protocol... also gonna run the parasite test because i didnt know you could get them from spring water. And gonna start adding lemon or lime to my meals and see of it helps. Again thank you for everything you do and I look forward to hearing your opinion.     Trish: Hello Dr Cabral -- Can you please explain the difference of when to take your estrogen balance or estrogen support? I'm post-menopausal and estrogen dominant. I'm on your progesterone but thought I needed to take an estrogen supplement as well. Thank you!     Jaimie: Thank you for giving us hope when others say there isn't a cure. My 11yr old son was diagnosed with severe Crohn's 6 months ago. No GI symptoms or food triggers or stomach pain. Presented with anal fissures, mouth sores and not growing. He was put on remicaid infusions and his calpractin went from 2500 to 59 in 5 months. CRP levels are normal now and he is gaining weight and growing. Dr doesn't believe in leaky gut or other deficiencies could be part of the issue when I asked about running other labs. What tests would you run if this was your child. I have a hard time accepting infusions are his only solution for the rest of his life. His body is fighting something and the remicaid is just masking the root issue. In addition to the toll it is taking on his liver amongst many other things.    Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral - Is there a non-toxic or at least "less" toxic brand of tampons you can recommend? Thank you!    Anonymous: Hi dr Cabral! Thank you for this show! I had my Dutch test done last year. It showed 24hr free cortisol just at the high marker and the metabolized cortisol low just below the normal range marker. My phase 2 estrogen metabolism methylation marker was also low at 1.6 while the beginning normal range marker is 2.5. Does this all point to a detox pathway issue? What would you suggest? My estrodial was also just below the normal range which surprised me since I have very heavy and painful periods, my practitioner at the time said it might have just been an off month, which I remember was a weird month since my period was actually very mild. That is disheartening since the test is so expensive. I know this test is a year ago, but I've always had these questions and results in my mind. Bio:   Claudia Lonow started her career as an actress, playing Michele Lee's chubby, loud-mouthed teenage daughter on “Knots Landing.”  Favorite episodes include: the one where she has kidney failure and is saved by Donna Mills kidney; the one where she runs away with the town murderer, “Chip,” and drives her mother to drugs; and the one where she almost loses her virginity, but instead winds up donning clown make up and singing “Put On A Happy Face” with her mom. Lonow's next career was waitressing.  She did stand up comedy for a while, working across the country and doing some television.  When she gave her best joke to Sarah Silverman, and Silverman killed with it, a writer was born. Her television-writing career took off when she wrote a semi-autobiographical spec pilot about a former nighttime soap opera television actress who gets sent to rehab, called “Rude Awakening.”  Showtime bought the show, which ran for 55 episodes.  Lonow has been creating and writing television ever since: “Good Girls Don't” for Oxygen; “Accidentally On Purpose” for CBS and “How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life)” for ABC.  Lonow moved into directing with the award winning shorts, “Bummed” and “Keep Calm and Tampon.” Lonow just completed directing and acting in her first feature, the very indie film, “D(e)AD” written by and starring her daughter, Isabella Roland, her partner Jonathan Schmock and pretty much everyone else in her family. She is currently developing various other TV and film projects, has gotten back to stand up and is threatening to do a solo show. Jonathan Schmock is an actor, director, comedian, show creator, artist and Emmy nominated writer, (group Emmy but still). As a stand-up he was half of the comedy team The Funny Boys with Jim Vallely. As an actor you've seen him in such varied things as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Star Trek Enterprise, The Big Bang Theory, Arrested Development, Shameless, The Simpsons, The Mentalist (the guy who did it) and NCIS Los Angeles (the guy who didn't) among others. As a writer/director he co-created Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and Brotherly Love and worked as an executive producer/writer on Dharma and Greg and Good Girls Don't, Real Time and many more. This week on the Hemp Show, Claire Crunk returns. She is the founder of Trace Femcare, the worlds first hemp fiber tampon. Her first appearance on the podcast was in 2023. Her company was just a few weeks away from their initial product launch. All they were waiting for was final approval from the FDA. She assumed then that things would be easier than they ultimately turned out to be. On this episode we find out what happened with the FDA and how the agency's request for an additional study was a major setback for Trace. What the FDA wanted from Trace was an exhaustive extraction study and mass spectrometry analysis, which would take 12 months and cost 150 thousand dollars. "So that's 12 additional months of operating expenses of runway added to the company as well. So it's not just a hundred and fifty thousand dollars. It becomes, you know, four hundred thousand dollars," Crunk said. Ultimately, the company could not overcome the burden and Trace was forced to sell its assets. The story of Trace and Claire's battle with FDA is one of the story lines in the documentary film One Plant, which has finished production and is seeking a distribution channel now. But when the film ends, the Trace story remains unresolved. "But the story never actually ends. It just melts and changes," said Crunk. "There's just been a lot of reckoning in my life and I've changed in different ways and, you know, understand now what it means to have grace through failure and to figure out what to take forward from that." There was great interest in the company's assets among in the feminine hygiene space. "There were these big entities that are on shelf at every retailer that you could ever go to who were very interested in picking us up and did some due diligence on it," Crunk said. This was at the time when the new Trump administration was imposing tariffs all around the world. "There was a lot of uncertainty in the absorbent hygiene world because it is a globalized supply chain." A Blessing in Disguise Because of how the sale of the assets was structured, Crunk had no say in who bought the company. She was pleasantly surprised when 1937 International showed interest and ultimately made the acquisition. "1937 International is a fairly new US entity that is working very diligently in a joint venture with groups in Pakistan to set up hemp fiber ecosystems in Pakistan. And you know, Pakistan is globally renowned for textile production, fiber knowledge, fiber production. Fiber agronomy," she said. Ryan Zaczynski, co-founder of 1937 International, was a guest on the Hemp Show this past March, and his fellow co-founder Nick Furlong was featured on our episode from the Industrial Hemp International conference.
