Welcome to another episode of Hitting the Streets Podcast! Today, I'm thrilled to have the incredible Kyle Nichols on the show. Mr. Nichols is a talented theatre teacher in our area. While I haven't had the chance to collaborate with him in the theatre world, we did work together on an impactful situation during the production of Oklahoma—one that not only affected a single student, but the entire student body involved. Please tune in to hear his story and where we are today after the incident.
What an awesome conversation with two wonderful Humans! On this episode I talk with Kyle and Alison about the 906 Adventure team of Ludington. Farmers Kyle Nichols and Rory Crowley discuss the benefits and tradeoffs of planting cover crops. They examine the economics and agronomics of the practice, and what this means for water management. Crowley is also the habitat program director for Project Apis m., running the Seeds for Bees program. Seeds for Bees encourages growers to support honey bee habitat and soil health by planting cover crops. “Everything on the market seems to be more and more difficult so growers are having a really hard time. It's because of that, that Seeds for Bees is pushing out more free seed allocations this year.... At Project Apis m., we believe that cover cropping is important and even more so when we're having difficult times and difficult weather to plant in” - Rory Crowley In Today's episode: ● Meet Rory Crowley, almond grower and the habitat program director for Project Apis m., and Kyle Nichols, farm manager at Cinderlind Farms ● Explore the Seeds for Bees program, the benefits it provides and the process for applying to participate ● Discover the compost technique Kyle Nichols has used on his operation along with cover crops to enhance the biological activity in the soils of his orchard “You can help keep that soil open and allow the drainage to happen, allow that water to get there and then leave. And that's what I've noticed as we implement cover crops... it brings that water over and it disperses that water across the entire row. I call it kind of making a water bank. It's going to hold all that water.” - Kyle Nichols For more information about this or any of the topics we discuss on this podcast, reach out to the Almond Board's Field Outreach Team directly at fieldoutreach@almondboard.com. Today on The Travel Agent Podcast, I chatted with Kyle Nichols about going from furloughed to one of Travel Agent Centrals 30 under 30 in a little over 2 years. If you like the podcast you'll LOVE our Amazing Travel Agent Facebook Community: Join here: https://www.ttapgroup.com/ Bio: Kyle Nichols along with his husband Robert, co-own a Cruise Planners franchise based in Orlando, Florida. Kyle was bitten by the travel bug early on in life traveling regularly as a child. Kyles's future was set in motion when we stepped off the plane in Goteborg Sweden, for a study aboard during college that changed his outlook on the world. Since graduation from Johnson & Wales University with a bachelor's in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality Management he has spent the next decade working throughout the travel industry in many capacities. Including his favorite position as a tour guide on top of open-top double-decker busses in Miami Beach. At the onset of the pandemic shutdown, Kyle pulled the trigger on the idea of jumping back into the cruise industry with the purchase of his franchise and took the next year to catch back up to speed with all the changes in the industry. Since starting their franchise, Kyle has been featured in Travel Agent Central's 30 under 30 class of 2022, has spoken at Cruise Planner events, and serves as an agent advisor on a leading cruise lines advisory board. https://www.facebook.com/cruisekingstravel https://www.instagram.com/cruisekingstravel/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/cruiseplanners-cruisekingstravel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdSQR8tJlOWjBtQ4rA7cdWQ/featured www.cruisekingstravel.com
We needed to find a way to train pastors who knew how to apply the theology they were learning to real church situations with real people who have real problems. This was the challenge that led to Immerse. Immerse is a competency-based MDiv program where students earn their Masters degree while continuing to work in their ministry context. In this episode, Krista Penner from our Leadership Development team has a conversation with Ruth McGillivray, Interim President at Northwest Seminary & College; Kyle Nichols, Lead Pastor of Princeton Baptist Church; and David Horita, Regional Director of Fellowship Pacific about why this innovative style of education has been so effective in training up pastors. They also share about an exciting new expansion of Immerse that will make this type of learning experience available and accessible to even more leaders, whether in the church or in the community! Resources mentioned in this episode: Immerse MDiv program Immerse MABL program Living Life Backwards by David Gibson RUTH MCGILLIVRAY Ruth joined the staff of Northwest in 2017 as the Director of Competency-Based Education. She has a rich and extensive history in developing CBE programs, having formed such programs in the high-tech and Canadian apprenticeship sectors since the early 1990's. In 2019, Ruth transitioned her role to become Northwest's Chief Innovation Officer, and in 2020, she became the Chief Operations Officer and is currently serving as the Interim President. Ruth has her Master of Arts in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University. She has been the Conference Director since 2018 for the annual international conference on CBTE, held in partnership with the US-based Competency-Based Education Network (C-BEN), and leads a CBTE Advocacy Group comprised of leaders from the Association of Theological School, In Trust Resource Center, C-BEN, and four seminaries. KYLE NICHOLS Kyle is the lead pastor of Princeton Baptist Church. He and his wife Rachel (who is beautiful and amazing and who suffers patiently with Kyle's many changing interests (imagine it!)), moved to Princeton in 2012 where they started their family (currently holding at three young kids), and where they first felt the call to ministry. Kyle loves his family and is passionate about Christ's church; passionate about seeing us move as a family in the direction God calls us. DAVID HORITA David completed his Master of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and then went on to serve in both small and large churches, including planting a church in Surrey in 1990. During those years he also received his Doctor of Ministry degree and worked extensively on a variety of Fellowship Pacific Boards before stepping into the position of Regional Director. David greatly enjoys working alongside the team in the Fellowship Pacific Ministry Centre, applying much of his education and experience to developing church-focused tools to help them achieve their unique vision within the Kingdom of God. He has been married for over thirty years to his wife Jo-Anna, and they have three adult sons. David and Jo-Anna love dogs, especially their wheaton terrier puppy—Winston Furchill, who is the unofficial office therapy dog.
Since a young age, Kyle Nichols, a Disney park fan, shares his story as a DVC Member. Before Kyle's father bought a DVC contract for his two sons to share, it took years of research. Since then, Kyle has gotten engaged at Walt Disney World and even recruited Mary Poppins to announce they were expecting. Tune into episode 137 and hear all about Kyle's DVC story.
