Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US reporter Luke Tress joins host Jessica Steinberg for today's episode. Following the arrest of defendant Mohammad Al-Saadi, who allegedly orchestrated a string of attacks on Jewish targets in Europe and the US on behalf of Iran, Tress tracks the details shared by the suspect, who spoke freely with investigators, emphasizing his use of social media to recruit operatives and noting that all Iranian proxies are related to one another. Marking one year since the Colorado firebombing attack of a rally for Israeli hostages that killed one elderly woman, Tress explores patterns of support among anti-Israel groups for perpetrators of violent hate crimes. After a bogus Miss Israel appeared at the Israel Day Parade in New York, Tress discovers that the Miss Universe franchise is now privately owned by a Florida enterprise and has little relation to Israel or Israeli culture. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Then, Bretman unboxes a nostalgic bin of his own graduation leis, sparking a hilarious trip down memory lane- from the absolute torture of graduation practices in the blazing sun and strict dress codes to the ultimate non-educational lessons they learned about life after high school. Ellen DeGeneris wants back in, and MTG has moved to Costa Rica. There's something uniquely hilarious about modern America where a poll can ask, “Is America a great country?” and nearly a quarter of the respondents answer like they're being interrogated by the faculty lounge at Berkeley.CNN ran this panel with Kasie Hunt reading the numbers like she was unveiling cholesterol results at a doctor's office.Twenty-three percent said America is the greatest country in the world.Forty-one percent said America is one of the greatest countries in the world. And twenty-three percent said America is not one of the greatest countries. Now pause right there. Because that last number deserves forensic analysis. Twenty-three percent. Nearly a quarter of the country looked around at America and said, “Nah, this place is overrated.”Overrated compared to what exactly? France, where striking is considered cardio? Britain, where people get arrested for tweets and their prime ministers rotate faster than gas station hot dogs? Canada, where the national survival strategy appears to be apologizing while collapsing politely?

Once there was a girl who sang from the heart, and fought for freedom through her music. Her name was Miriam Makeba. She was raised in South Africa in the 1930s, where laws oppressed Black people like her. She rose up in song to fight the racist system of Apartheid. She used her voice to travel the world and bring awareness about the injustices her people faced at home. Because of this, she was banned from returning to South Africa for many years. After moving to the United States her career was upended when she married a controversial leader of the civil rights leader. But she still used her fame as a platform for change, and came to be known as “Mama Africa”. [This episode originally aired February 2021.] About the Narrator Zozibini Tunzi is a passionate activist engaged in the fight against gender-based violence and a supporter of the #HeForShe social media campaign which is changing gender stereotypes. In 2019, Tunzi was the first Black representative from South African to be crowned Miss Universe. Zozi was also the first Miss Universe to be crowned wearing her natural curls, serving as an example to young girls to embrace their most authentic selves. She is using her voice as Miss Universe to encourage young women to “take up space” and hopes to bring more voices together to make change across the world. Stay connected with us at americangroundradio.com, on Facebook, and Instagram. You're listening to American Ground Radio with Louis R. Avallone and Stephen Parr. This is the full show for April 21, 2026. We open with a bombshell — the Justice Department has indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center on 11 counts including wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering, alleging that the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million to white supremacist and extremist groups — the very groups they claim to be fighting. We dig into what this means, why the demand for racism has always outpaced the actual supply, how organizations like the SPLC have built entire fundraising empires off a defamation map that lists Catholic charities and Turning Point USA alongside the KKK, and why it's no coincidence that this indictment came almost immediately after Pam Bondi's exit and Todd Blanche's arrival at the DOJ. In our Top 3 Things You Need to Know, Florida Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick resigned from Congress minutes before the House Ethics Committee was set to determine sanctions against her — after being found guilty on 25 of 27 charges for stealing COVID relief money and funneling it into her own campaign. Then the House Judiciary Committee released a preliminary report on ActBlue showing that two employees took the Fifth 146 times in depositions, and that ActBlue deliberately weakened its own fraud prevention protocols twice in the run-up to the 2024 election — after which it reported record fundraising, including from donors in Brazil, Colombia, Iraq, Jordan, Myanmar, and Saudi Arabia. And Virginia voters are deciding whether to adopt a new congressional map drawn by Democrats to give them a 10-to-1 advantage in a state that votes Democrat by about 55% — not 90%. Our American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson respond to a viral clip of UCLA football coach Bob Chesney asking his players if they know the name of the man who makes their omelets — and why every person on the support staff deserves to be known by name. We talk about what it says about a person's character when they take the time to learn the names of people who serve them, why Teri's father used restaurant behavior as a business litmus test, and what it means that people who have worked in the Trump White House consistently say he knows not just their names but their kids' names and how their family is doing. In our Digging Deep segment, newly declassified documents obtained by Just the News reveal that U.S. intelligence warned in January 2020 that foreign adversaries had the capability to compromise America's voting infrastructure — and that both China and Iran did in fact penetrate voter registration databases in multiple states before the 2020 election. That information was suppressed until November 2021. When President Trump ordered it released in November 2020, the CIA refused the direct order. China didn't just hack the databases — they registered fake voters and sent fake IDs from China to match those registrations. We talk about what that means for the narrative that 2020 was the most secure election in American history, why losing trust in elections causes people to stop voting, and what has to happen before this country can restore confidence in its own electoral system. We also cover the Supreme Court ruling that $166 billion in tariff refunds must be issued to businesses — and point out that the consumers who actually absorbed those costs at the register will see none of it, because there was never a line-item tariff charge on your receipt. For our Bright Spot, Alan Dershowitz — lifelong Democrat, Harvard Law professor, Brooklyn-raised Jewish-American who has been a registered Democrat for 67 years — has officially switched his registration to Republican. He wrote an op-ed in the New York Times explaining why. One reason: the Democrat Party has become, in his words, the most anti-Israel party in American history. We talk about what it means when one of the most prominent Jewish legal minds in America concludes he can no longer stay. We also get into Miss Universe adding another biological male competitor — and ask the straightforward question of why the one competition specifically designed to celebrate women is being systematically redesigned to exclude them. And we close with Jamie Lee Mateus, a man who is admittedly a terrible painter, whose wife posted one of his bad family portraits as a joke — and who now runs a thriving side business called Terrible Art by Jamie Lee, completing hundreds of commissions for customers around the world. In this episode of Fraud in the Office, Matthew and Mark break down a headline-grabbing case tied to the world of Miss Universe, but quickly uncover a much more familiar fraud story beneath the surface. The ex-husband of former Miss Universe Australia is facing over 100 fraud charges after allegedly misappropriating nearly $500,000 from his employer while serving in a finance leadership role. The scheme? Unauthorized transfers paired with falsified ledger entries to conceal the activity. This episode dives into how access, trust, and weak controls can collide, even in a short time frame, to create the perfect conditions for fraud. From lifestyle-driven spending to breakdowns in segregation of duties and oversight, the hosts explore how this case reflects common fraud patterns seen across organizations of all sizes.Because at the end of the day, this isn't about headlines or celebrity connections, it's about what happens when the ledgers stop telling the truth.Support the showFind us on all streaming platforms! Episode 304 of Where Brains Meet Beauty continues the Power Duos series with Jeffrey Lee, CEO & Co-Founder of DIBS Beauty and Katherine Rose, Vice President of Finance. Together they unpack what it really takes to scale a beauty brand through high-stakes moments - ERP overhauls, warehouse moves, tariff chaos, and rapid retail expansion.Katherine shares how a career that started in public accounting evolved into operational leadership at a fast-growing startup, guided by a simple rule: say yes to opportunities and figure it out along the way. Jeffrey reflects on his unconventional path from corporate attorney to entrepreneur, and why great founders succeed by building strong processes and empowering people with deeper expertise than their own.The episode also goes inside DIBS' retail mindset. Jeffrey shares his mission to show up in Ulta doors across all 50 states, not as a checkbox, but to learn how the customer shops and to stand beside the field team doing the hard work in-store. Katherine shares what she has learned in the field too, including a new respect for the retail ecosystem and the reality that “it's not in the back” is usually true. Their shared takeaway: retail success is built by the teams who show up, take notes, and stay close to the customer. And yes, there are fun surprises too, including Jeffrey's Miss Universe coaching background and his belief that posture is the ultimate confidence signal. The episode closes with a game built for this duo: Ulta locations across the country paired with activities, plus a Cheesecake Factory order that is nothing short of legendary.
A child's dress rescued from the roof of a bombed-out museum. A mother teaching her daughter her ancestral embroidery techniques. A Miss Universe contestant confused over just whose traditional clothes she's trying on on a field trip. Cultural appropriation, erasure, silencing. Joy, close looking, reframing perfection. On International Women's Day, it feels timely to publish this important episode with Palestinian dress expert Wafa Ghnaim, as we look through the textiles lens to ask: who decides which stories get told, and from what angles? Where do colonial narratives lurk, how can we challenge them and why should we? Wafa is an art and dress historian, fashion researcher, embroiderer, curator, and the founder of the Tatreez Institute, specialising in Palestinian embroidery, dress, and adornment. In this compassionate, nuanced conversation we start behind the scenes at the museum, and end on every woman's right to tell her story, pass it down - and live in peace. If you find the interview valuable, please help us share it.Find links and further reading at thewardrobecrisis.comSupport the show on Substack - wardrobecrisis.substack.comTell us what you think. We're spending the last few weeks of 2025 reviewing our TOP 5 MOST DOWNLOADED episodes! We often talk about letting go of the negative labels that people have put on us... but what about the positive ones? What happens when our entire identity is built on the success we achieve in this world... And then we have to lay it all down? Today on the podcast, I have an on-air counseling session with Demi Leigh Tebow, as she opens up about the struggle and depression she felt laying down the crown of Miss Universe... and realizing how much her identity was found in unreliable things. We trace this "self sufficiency" back to her childhood, and unpack some of the patterns that led her to that difficult place ... and the lessons she has learned and continues to learn in placing her identity in Christ alone. There is no label bad enough or great enough worth holding onto ... except what Jesus says. This conversation was so good, and I know you are going to love it as well. There are a few conversations that stop me in my tracks, and this was one of them. Sitting across from Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow, I wasn't just speaking to a Heisman Trophy winner and a former Miss Universe. I was sitting with two people who live out their faith with more authenticity, humility, and conviction than almost anyone I've ever met. What struck me most is how both of them, despite the platforms they've been given, have had to wrestle with identity, comparison, loss, and purpose, just like the rest of us. Tim shared the heart behind his new book Look Again and what it really means to understand your worth through God's eyes, not the world's. When he said, “We use people and value things, instead of valuing people and using things,” it hit me hard. He reminded us that every single human being carries the image of God, that you're not just bearing His image, you are His image. You are royalty. That truth changes how you see yourself and how you see others. Demi opened up about her journey from wearing the Miss Universe crown to realizing that she had attached her identity to it and the freedom she found when she handed it back. She also shared the raw pain of losing her father just days before our conversation and how she's choosing faith in the middle of heartbreak. Her story is one of strength, surrender, and trust, choosing not to ask “Why?” but “Where?” Where is God working this together for good? That perspective will change how you face every challenge in your own life. We also talked about something that's destroying people quietly, comparison. Tim reminded us that comparison kills joy. You can't be grateful and envious at the same time. And Demi shared her own powerful insight: when you scroll through social media, you're often letting people who don't love you speak into your life. It's time to take back that space and fill it with truth. And perhaps most moving of all, we dove into the heart of their work through the Tim Tebow Foundation, serving the most vulnerable around the world. From survivors of human trafficking to children with special needs, they're proof that when you stop and see people the way God does, everything changes. You don't need a big platform to make a difference, you just need a willing heart. Key Takeaways: How to find your true identity and worth through God's eyes Why comparison kills joy and how to break free from it How to find hope and peace in the middle of loss The difference between bearing God's image and being His image How small acts of compassion can create massive change in someone's life This is one of those conversations you'll feel deep in your soul. If you've ever doubted your worth, questioned your faith, or wondered if God still sees you, this one's for you. Max out your life.
