Cookbooks have a way finding a route to my kitchen. This one was a little different because it had recipes for cooking with Cannabis. I just had to reach out to chef and author Laurie Wolf to ask her how to do it. Generous with her time and years of learning I think we will have more conversations in the future. Listen and just enjoy her enthusiasm for the topic.
It's Cheech & Chong's 50th anniversary! The epic comedy duo is best known for their cinematic pot smoking antics, but Cheech's palate is far more sophisticated than stoner snacks. The enthusiastic cook first tasted chicken marbella, from the legendary Silver Palate cookbook, at a dinner party and he swore he heard angels singing. The Silver Palate cookbook "changed the way Americans ate" when it came out in 1982, and host Rachel Belle chats with its editor, Suzanne Rafer about the impact it had. And chef, cannabis cookbook author, and founder of Laurie + Mary Jane edibles, Laurie Wolf, joins the show to talk about how far we've come from the ubiquitous potent pot brownie. As congress considers legalizing marijuana nationally, it's time to revisit our conversation about cannabis in the kitchen. We brought together a renowned cannabis cookbook author, the former editor-in-chief of Fine Cooking magazine, and a libertarian journalist for some serious talk about marijuana's role in the food world, and how the heck to cook with it (hint: it's not easy). Our panelists are Jacob Grier, a prominent mixologist who is also a political writer for publications such as The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and The Daily Beast; Martha Holmberg, CEO emeritus of the International Association of Culinary Professionals; and Laurie Wolf, cannabis cookbook author and owner of Laurie & Mary Jane, a producer of small-batch, cannabis-infused edibles. Our host is Katherine Cole.

Today's guest is Carrie Corboy, a clinical pharmacist practitioner. Carrie and I started talking a few months ago because of her experience as a pharmacist working in a cannabis dispensary. Carrie is also an employee of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Family of Companies, along with an employee at Restore Integrative Wellness Center. Over the last year or so, I have had parents ask me about the safety of CBD oil, whether it is effective for treatment of alopecia, whether it is best to use as a tincture, a capsule, or a salve. When I'm not qualified to answer these questions or I don't know the answers, I ask someone who does. Today, if you have been wanting to learn about CBD, this episode is a great introduction, and as always, we encourage you to do your own research to find the solution that works best for you and your family. https://www.linkedin.com/in/carriecorboy/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/cec-pharmd-llc/?viewAsMember=truehttps://www.instagram.com/dr.apothecarrie/ Book with recipes: The Medical Marijuana Dispensary: Understanding, Mediating and Cooking with Cannabis, Laurie Wolf, file:///C:/Users/cdr%20ebay/Downloads/USP%20Cannabis%20Guidelines.pdf

The Citizenship Question battle is over. We are thrilled to report the question will not be included on the census form. Nonprofits must now turn to ensuring a fair, accurate, and complete count. Everyone counts, so everyone must be counted. Seven states began the new fiscal year without full budgets. Governors have not been shy to veto budget bills or use line-item veto power to cut programs affecting nonprofits. Alaska is facing a crisis with the Legislature failing to override $440 million in line-item cuts including education, arts, Medicare, scholarship, and transportation programs. Laurie Wolf of The Foraker Group wrote an article all nonprofits facing budget issues should read called: Have Courage. We have put out a 5-minute survey asking nonprofits about budget constraints caused by the tax on nonprofit transportation benefits. Please let us know how the tax affected your mission. And as employers, nonprofits should bring dignity and justice to the workplace. Decent Work is a campaign on how to do so, and even how to sprinkle in some magic with nonprofit unicorns.
