Living and working with trichotillomania ~ from hairdresser and client perspective Sarah & Liz:Sarah Sullivan is a hairdresser & educator. She trained in extensions, which led her to train in hair systems and wigs. This then inspired her to further train in trichology, and she now runs a private hair salon and separate air loss clinic. Liz has had trichotillomania since she was 10. She lost all her hair after witnessing a traumatic car accident. As her hair grew back, she began to focus on it and notice its different textures. She didn't like it as the hairs grew back curly. Over the years she has been able to manage her compulsion and recognise the triggers. Sometimes she is able to control the compulsion and sometimes she is not.Liz always dreaded going to the salon to get her hair done. She had high anxiety and people used to point and stare at her which made her feel intimidated.Since she has found a hairdresser with a knowledge and understanding of hair loss who has a private environment, she says it has taken the stress out of getting her hair done. She now enjoys getting her hair done.We discuss the best way to approach a client or family member with this condition, and various areas of treatment.Connect with Sarah:InstagramWebsiteInsight timer app  Hair & Scalp Salon Specialist course Support the showConnect with Hair therapy: Facebook Instagram Twitter Clubhouse- @Hair.Therapy Donate towards the podcast Start your own podcastHair & Scalp Salon Specialist Course ~ Book now to become an expert!

He concentrates on just these few areas, so that he can develop and perfect his craft.Dr Bared stresses the importance of communication to manage expectations. He also conducts follow ups after hair transplant surgery, seeing his patients back for upto a year afterwards, and how this may mean that travelling internationally for treatment can lead to less reliable, or even unsatisfactory long term results. We also discuss over- harvesting the donor areas, and how aggressive procedures are not beneficial long term.He shares how the surgery can necessitate a certain level of artistry, including considering the angulation and depth of each individual hair follicle for the most natural look. The use of PRP to support the hair growth and expedite healing is also shared. We look at Minoxidil and Finasteride, the side effects and how you can test to determine whether these would benefit you.Connect with Dr Bared:Instagram Hair & Scalp Salon Specialist course Support the showConnect with Hair therapy: Facebook Instagram Twitter Clubhouse- @Hair.Therapy Donate towards the podcast Start your own podcastHair & Scalp Salon Specialist Course ~ Book now to become an expert!

Welcome to the latest episode of the Evidence-Based Hair Podcast, hosted by dermatologist and hair loss specialist, Dr. Jeff Donovan. As the director of the Donovan Hair Academy, Dr. Donovan is committed to educating both the public and hair loss practitioners through comprehensive programs like the Evidence-Based Hair Fellowship (EBHF). In this episode, Dr. Donovan delves into a compelling case report from JAAD Case Reports that explores the use of diphencyprone (DPCP) for treating alopecia areata during pregnancy. Traditionally contraindicated in pregnancy, DPCP is a topical treatment that induces an allergic reaction on the scalp to promote hair regrowth in patients with alopecia areata. Dr. Donovan discusses a unique case where a patient opted to continue DPCP treatment during her pregnancies, resulting in minimal hair loss without any adverse effects on her pregnancies or babies. Dr. Donovan emphasizes the significance of this study in contributing to the limited data available on DPCP use during pregnancy. While the findings are promising, he cautions that more research is needed before making broad recommendations for DPCP use during pregnancy. Join Dr. Donovan next week too as he explores the trichoscopy of alopecia neoplastica from breast cancer in another enlightening episode of the Evidence-Based Hair Podcast. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and engage in meaningful discussions about hair loss treatment and research.     STUDIES REFERENCED IN THIS EPISODE: Desai DD et al. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Kelly: Hi Dr. Cabral! It's Kelly, an IHP L2 & lover of ALL things health, wealth & wellness. I would love to hear your POV, evidence based of course, on ( maybe don't say the product name - totally up to your digression) Enagic K8 water ionization system. Which creates more hydrogen rich water & to my understanding is more bioavailable to the body, acting almost like an adaptogenic, being a small enough molecule to penetrate the cell walls & even pass the blood brain barrier. I am always curious & have been incorporating with my clients wellness plans. As water, like food, movement and all the layers in the ‘DESTRESS' protocol are important. I do however want to practice with integrity & I am chasing your wisdom . Would you consider it for a product review in the future? If so reach out   Holly: Hi Dr. C! I have Alopecia Areata (40yr old women) and have tried all your hair loss protocols (including massively reducing stressors) alas nothing is working! I've resisted the steroid creams the doctor prescribed so far but running out of options. My question is about your thoughts on micro needling? And also thoughts on hyaluronic acid serum? (Or other recommendations). Thanks Holly   Oliver: Hi Stephen, Are there any benefits or negatives to listening to podcasts/audiobooks at a fast speed? I listen to most podcasts at 2x speed which is great to consume lots of info quickly but my mum thinks its bad for you so wondered if there is any effect on the brain?   Tessi: Hi Dr! I have addisons disease and noticed my blood work shows really high levels of hemocrit and hemoglobin on my blood work. Is this normally associated with having an adrenal issue or could it be something more? Any ways to lower it naturally?   Josh: Hi Dr. Cabral - thank you for all you do to educate us. I take a number of vitamins & minerals daily, many of which are taken at the same time. I'm curious if there are any vitamins/minerals that should not be taken together and if there are any that are best taken on an empty stomach. I understand fat soluble should be taken with healthy fats, but aside from that, I'm unaware of any considerations. Thank you!   Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!   - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3089 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!   Sheila: Dear Dr Cabral What is your opinion of topical thyroid hormone cream designed to provide superior flexibility, absorption, and utilization of T2 for thyroid patients. Is this cream better than taking the pills or supplements? Thanks very much   Kortney: Hi! First of all, I am so thankful for all of the information you give to the community! I have spent hundreds of dollars on labs and supplements to get healthy. I had mold exposure in an apartment I was living in 2 years ago. I lived there for 2 years and was also pregnant and breastfeeding in the mold. My baby and I both had identical symptoms(rashes, congestion, etc). We finally got it tested and it came back positive for black mold. We moved out immediately. I was never told I needed to detox so I just moved out and went on with my life. Well, now I have been having unexplained Alopecia areata, I get sick all the time, anxiety, etc. I had RA markers on my labs as well as high cortisol and TGF Beta 1. Where should I start with getting well again?   Kortney:  Hi! I am currently doing the Dr. Cabral detox. After day 1 I woke up the next morning nauseous and had a migraine. I ate some canned beans after a couple hours and felt better so I continued the detox following the days 3-7. Should I have stopped the detox? Or was that a sign everything was moving through my body? I was unsure of what to do. I am trying to detox from mold exposure and had RA markers and high TGF Beta 1 on my last labs.   Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions!    - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3067 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr.
