Continuing our Let Us Pray? series, and we're discussing bold and impossible prayers. Do we believe in a God who intervenes? Do we still believe in a God who does miracles? And what happens when those prayers aren't answered? Bible Text James 5:13-16 **Apologies: there was an issue at the start of Nathan's talk, which means we've missed the opening but I think it become apparent what he is talking about.
Dave Parr brings our series Let Us Pray? to a close, reflecting on the importance of lament as a prayer practice. Bible text: Lamentations 1:7-11

Just 50 days after the Cross…at Pentecost…the early church numbering about 120, huddled in an upper room in Jerusalem, received the empowering Holy Spirit, for the purpose of proclaiming Christ to the lost world around them. But, the world hates the gospel and reacts to muffle the voice of the believer— and still does so today. However, there is something so much bigger, so much more powerful, happening in the grand story! The early Jerusalem believers understood it and drew strength from it. And, they often found it in a moment of gathered prayer…the Prayer Meeting! The Sovereign Authority of God…His Word…His Plan…His Power…available to the early church, remains for us today: for the empowering of our ministries, mission, and witness…and can be found in our own Prayer Meetings!

We're starting our new series, Let Us Pray? From unanswered prayers for healing to prayers of lament, we're exploring the Bible's approach to prayer and what that means in practice for us today. Michelle Zahner begins by looking again at the story in John 9, 'Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind'. Acknowledging the pain that praying for healing can evoke, she invites us to look at these events in a different way and think about their application to our lives now.

In the Gospel of St. Matthew chapter 8, we are given the testimonies of Christ our God healing the leper and the servant of the centurion. The leper comes before Christ to intercede for his own sufferings. The centurion comes before Christ to intercede for the sufferings of someone else, other than himself. Both of these men come before Christ with two very important virtues. Both the leper and the centurion petitioned Christ with faith and humility. This sermon examines the true faith and the humility with which we should come to Christ as His Kingdom of Priests; a Kingdom ordained by God for the ministry of intercession, both for ourselves and on behalf of others.

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today! Do our prayers really change anything, or is God just going to do what He wants anyway? This week, Catherine Segars, host of the Christian Parent, Crazy World podcast, joins Jaime for a riveting discussion on the theology of intercession based on Watchman Nee’s classic book, Let Us Pray. In this joint episode, Catherine unpacks the stunning concept that God often waits for His people to pray before He acts. She explains the "Train Track" analogy—how God’s will is the locomotive, but our prayers lay the rails for His power to move on earth. Catherine also shares her dramatic personal testimony of warring in prayer for her miracle children in her 40s. She details how she learned to direct her outrage at the enemy rather than God during difficult times. You’ll walk away with a new "legal" framework for the heavenly courtroom, understanding how to partner with God to see His will established in your life and the lives of your children. Let Us Pray – Today we continue moving through the Gospel of Matthew and the Sermon on the Mount with the very familiar passage in which Jesus teaches the people to pray and from which we have “The Lord's Prayer.” Carol begins by citing a minister, Bishop Robert Spain, who heavily influenced her through her youth and mentored her in her own ministry. However, he once shocked her by saying from the pulpit that he did not have the prayer life he wished he had. Since then she has realized that most of us are beginners in learning to pray, and for us to examine what Jesus taught can be of help. When Jesus said not to pray in public, in essence it is to say that prayer is not a performance for those around us or for God – God loves us and hears our prayers without our having to attract God's attention, and God knows our hearts. Saying “Thy will be done” can enlist us and shape how we act and live. Every pronoun in the prayer is plural, connecting us with others. “Give us this day our daily bread” can enlist us to help feed the hungry. There is much to learn from this passage about praying.

Prayer can feel perplexing—especially for Believers who want their words to shape eternity for their children and families. But what if you learned that unanswered prayers aren’t a sign of God’s absence, but an invitation to “lay the tracks” for His will on earth? In this episode, Catherine joins forces with prayer advocate and author Jaime Hampton, co-host of the Praying Christian Women Podcast, to explore the deepest mysteries and highest privileges of prayer, guided by the wisdom of Watchman Nee’s landmark book Let Us Pray. Together, they uncover why some prayers feel fruitless, how to discern God’s heart, and what it takes to persevere through spiritual bottlenecks. Drawing from personal stories—including Catherine’s journey to miraculous parenthood and Jaime’s awakening to the power of partnership in faith—they offer honest, hope-filled wisdom for anyone longing to pray with purpose.
We learn how Jesus instructs us to pray as we examine two parables he shared with the disciples.

In this prayer Paul describes the progression of our journey with God and asks that God grant them eyes to see this trendous inheritance we have and how our lives lived out by faith can make a difference in the world. This Sunday Worship Episode features one of Reverend and Dean Bernard Richardson's prayer from Rankin Memorial Chapel.
In week 3 of our Let Us Pray series we ask the question: Why does God answer prayer? Is the answer our ability to pray well? Or perhaps our goodness and character? The basis for answered prayer is the goodness of God not humans. In todays message we learn about the attributes of God through the names that God is known by and we do so using a famous and poetic psalm. Psalm 23 helps us to see eight attributes of God that we can pray through which focuses our prayer on the goodness of God toward each of us. The Lord is our Shepherd. To support the ministry of Melbourne Inclusive Church go to: www.michurch.org.au/give Melbourne Inclusive Church boldly and proudly proclaims Christ's equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.Melbourne Inclusive Church is part of the EMI Global family of churches.
Let us pray the prayer of Jabez today! Who is Jabez? We only read about him once in the Bible as he prays a bold and powerful prayer to God. Jabez whose name means pain chooses to look to God and not his past pains. He refuses to take on the labels other people place on him. Instead Jabez prays to God saying God to bless me, expand my territory (influence). He says Lord let your hand (presence and power) be with me and keep me from harm and pain. The Bibles tells us that God answered his prayer. We encourage you today in whatever area of your life or as a whole that you need help/expansion/presence and protection from pain, pray the prayer of Jabez and open your heart to the presence of God who wants to interact with you and to answer your prayer. To support the ministry of Melbourne Inclusive Church go to: www.michurch.org.au/giveMelbourne Inclusive Church boldly and proudly proclaims Christ's equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.Melbourne Inclusive Church is part of the EMI Global family of churches.
Prayer is about relationship with our Creator, the one who holds our lives in the palm of their hand and wants to spend time with us. Sadly, many people see prayer as a chore, a time-consuming activity that we do when it's convenient. Prayer is seen as what we do when we want God to heal us, to provide for us, to overcome our challenges and change our communities. But prayer is connection. We pray to God, through Christ our High Priest with the assistance of Holy Spirit. Prayer is about presence and in God's presence our needs are met. So let us enter into the presence of God through prayer, and spend time with God to discuss every aspect of our lives for God cares about us.To support the ministry of Melbourne Inclusive Church go to: www.michurch.org.au/giveMelbourne Inclusive Church boldly and proudly proclaims Christ's equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.Melbourne Inclusive Church is part of the EMI Global family of churches.
