Playlist Track Time Start Time Opening and Introduction (Thom Holmes) 11:57 00:00 1. Herbie Hancock, Herbie Hancock Demonstrates The Rhodes Piano (1973 Rhodes). A terrific flexi-disc produced by Rhodes and narrated by Hancock who tells an interesting story about his first encounter with the instrument on a Miles Davis session and then he walks the keyboard through a series of effects. He speaks with the authority of a proud electronics tinkerer who understands the nuances that make this instrument so beloved by jazz musicians. This flexi-disc was originally delivered in the November 8, 1973 issue of Down Beat magazine. I provide both sides of the disc, in entirety. Tunes included during the demonstration include parts of Watermelon Man, Maiden Voyage, and The Spook. Soloist, Rhodes Electric Piano, Voice, Herbie Hancock. I thought it would be wisest to lead off this podcast with an overview of the Rhodes even though it is out of chronological sequence, being from 1973. We then go back a few years to hear tracks in proper time order. 12:48 11:57 2. The Don Ellis Orchestra, “Open Beauty” from Electric Bath (1967 Columbia). See the opening tracks from this podcast for a story about this session from Hancock. Bass, Ron Carter; Drums, Tony Williams; Piano, Fender Electric Piano, Herbie Hancock; Tenor Saxophone, Wayne Shorter; Trumpet, Miles Davis. 16:59 30:14 4. An example of using the clavinet in jazz. This was most likely a Hohner Clavinet Model C which had just been introduced in 1968. Recorded at Van Gelder Studios during late 1968. 2:31 53:54 7. Albert Ayler, “New Generation” from New Grass (1969 Impulse). The great jazz funk flutist Bobbi Humphrey released a series of albums around this time that often-featured fantastic synthesizer players. In this episode we'll meet a man who I became aware via his wife's LinkedIn post that hit a nerve. It prompted more than 400 comments because it told the story of an entrepreneur who built a window washing business by putting himself out there. But it also spoke to how hurtful people can be with thoughtless comments. Now I'd never met Tommy Hunter, but after that post, I wanted to learn more about him, so I followed his Instagram account and discovered something I'd never seen before -- and that is the art of window washing. So let's meet the man who created a business (@hunterwindowwash) that's earned over 10,000 fans … and then let's discover who helped him most along the way. These are Tommy's Lessons: 2:31 -- Instagram + art of window washing 5:48 -- Good and bad side of feedback 7:08 -- How it all started 9:30 -- "I don't have a care in the world" 11:56 -- One rude comment + a viral moment 12:35 -- My perspective on negative feedback 14:35 -- College football tales 16:17 -- One Rockstar and a 40-yard pass 17:49 -- "Dude, dude you'll be OK" 19:05 -- One of the darkest times of my life 20:27 -- Have faith in something 20:56 -- My dad was always there 24:37 -- What I would change 25:30 -- What I wouldn't change 26:01 -- Getting after it 26:34 -- One small change Origins of The Great Unfamous Nominate your own Great Unfamous IG: @gr8unfamous Twitter: @gr8unfamous All podcast platforms --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thegreatunfamous/message

I'm happy to re introduce my 2020 interview with "Canada's Country Gentleman", Tommy Hunter. In this episode, we discussed Tommy's early beginnings in London Ontario & his journey from there to the bright lights that would shine on his career for decades. The Tommy Hunter show ran from 1965 to 1992, making it the longest running national TV show. Tommy would also become very popular in the USA. This was one of my personal favourite interviews & I'm sure that it will make you smile. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin' Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the updates on various injured Mets and the impending return of Max Scherzer to the rotation. We also talk about the 13-pitcher roster rule coming into effect and Tommy Hunter's return to the major leagues as the feel-good Mets story this week. Next, we talk about Pride Night at Citi Field, which Grace Carbone recently wrote about in a fantastic piece that we recommend you read. In particular, we discuss the allyship Mark Canha and Taijuan Walker showed with their full embrace of Pride and how refreshing that was to see. We also point to Megan Rapinoe as another example of what LGBTQ+ allyship looks like in sports. We also discuss the new “no politics” policy being implemented at The Athletic. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what's making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Almost two years ago, I struck up a friendship with Canada's "Country Gentleman", Tommy Hunter. We've had several conversations both before & after this interview was recorded in summer of 2020. He was a regular visitor to Canadian living rooms every week for decades even before the Tommy Hunter show was picked up by the Nashville Network in the U.S.A. . Most of my generation have fond memories of him & the family friendly entertainment his show provided for us. In recent months, Tommy Hunter has been under the weather & could use our moral support. At the time of this interview from the summer of 2020, I was very impressed with his eloquence & his humble appreciation of his Millions of fans. I hope you enjoy listening to this interview as much as I enjoyed conducting it.

Happy Monday Mets fans! It's time for yet another new episode of your favorite quirky and independent Mets podcast. This week, we're doing a bit of housekeeping and talking about some not-super-significant Mets news. Of course, there was some important Mets news, in that Seth Lugo needs elbow surgery and will be shut down for six weeks. We talk about the Mets bullpen without Lugo and what they need to do. We also broke down the recent batch of Mets non-roster signings. This time it's two pitchers, Tommy Hunter and Mike Montgomery. We try to figure out if there's a place for either of them on the Mets' roster. We also finally talk about Jonathan Villar! We, uh, sort of forgot about him in our last episode. We talk about Zack Scott's press conference and his comments on J.D. Davis' role for the 2021 Mets. Also, we discuss the Mets' offseason as a whole now that they've missed out on Justin Turner and James Paxton. Where do the Mets turn to from here? And lastly, we remember some shadow Mets! Be sure to follow us on Twitter @thePGEpod and give us a rating and a review on Apple Podcasts to help us grow! Joey Hollingsworth grew up in London Ontario along with his lifetime pal, Tommy Hunter. They both left London for Toronto in search of their fame & fortune & eventually both would make their mark. Joey was the 1st Black man to appear on CBC television & would continue to break the colour barrier through out his long and illustrious career. He dealt with racism along the way, but never let it slow him down as he would appear on the Wayne & Schuster show, the Ed Sullivan show, Mr Rogers etc. He is a multiple award winning singer, dancer & percussionist & he tells me his story with great joy in this înterview.
The Philadelphia Phillies split their double header with the Boston Red Sox. I AM NOT SATISFIED!!! They haven't swept a double header since 2012!! The Phils had the lead in both games before the bullpen blew it. In game one, Tommy Hunter lost the lead, but thankfully Alec Bohm hit a walk off in the bottom of the seventh. In game two David Phelps allowed a two-run home run to Bobby Dalbec and the rest was history. The bullpen looks to be an issue again along with Bryce Harper being ICE COLD! This Miami Marlins series coming up is so big, I can't even put it into words. Check out my sponsors! Code: BROD at manscaped.com for 20% AND FREE SHIPPING! The Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Mets by a score of 9-8 in extra innings. The Phils were up 6-0 early after Jean Segura hit a bases-clearing double along with Rhys Hoskins and JT Realmtuo hitting solo home runs. Zack Wheeler was strong until the fifth inning when constant doubles were getting ripped off of him. JoJo Romero and David Phelps were not good. Tommy Hunter, Brandon Workman, and Hector Neris were solid. Jean Segura recorded four hits, including a game-winning home run in the tenth inning and 5 RBIs. Check out my sponsors! The Philadelphia Phillies win their fifth straight game by taking down the New York Mets 5-3! Joe Girardi gave Bryce Harper a rest day since he is ice cold, hitting 7 in his last 45 attempts. Jake Arrieta threw seven innings and recorded seven strikeouts. What a great bounce-back from his last start which was the shortest of his career. Also, Arrieta hasn't had a seven inning performance in his last 20 starts. In the seventh inning the game was tied. Phil Gosselin and Roman Quinn were a big reason why the Phils took the lead. In the eighth, Jean Segura added insurance and Adam Haseley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Hector Neris got into trouble and Tommy Hunter had his back with the help of Rhys Hoskins' defense. Yes, you read that correctly. Brandon Workman recorded a clean save! Check out my sponsors! The Philadelphia Phillies win 3-2 over the Washington Nationals and Joe Girardi records his 1000th win as a manager! Aaron Nola didn't have his A+ stuff, but he sure grinded through seven innings effectively. Girardi allowed him to go back on the mound with 100 pitches after the sixth. Juan Soto and Rhys Hoskins traded off solo home-runs to start off the scoring. After the Phils went down 2-1 in the fourth, they responded in the seventh inning thanks to sloppy play by the Nationals. Juan Soto dove for a ball in left-field, allowing Didi Gregorius to get to third base. Victor Robles and Adam Eaton bumped into each other during a routine fly ball in right field. Bryce Harper hit an RBI single to take the lead. Tommy Hunter, after having passionate words to the media, pitched a phenomenal eighth inning. Brandon Workman worked through a bit of a jam and closed the game. Check out my sponsors! Code: BROD at manscaped.com for 20% AND FREE SHIPPING! The Philadelphia Phillies lose 2 of 3 to the Atlanta Braves. Aaron Nola got rocked in game one and it was no contest. Hector Neris and newly added reliever, Brandon Workman, blew game two of the season in the 8th and 9th innings. Zack Wheeler threw a gem and Bryce Harper crushed a 470 ft BOMB! In game three, the Phils had a nice lead thanks to Alec Bohm, Didi Gregorius, and Rhys Hoskins going yard. Zach Eflin was not good enough and the bullpen almost found a way to lose. Heath Hembree was solid in his Phillies' debut, Tommy Hunter had a shutdown eighth inning, and Workman almost blew it again. Freddie Freeman hit a ball into the gap and Roman Quinn cut off the ball, threw it to Gregorius, who gunned out Dansby Swanson at home thanks to a nice tag by Andrew Knapp. You can't get any closer to blowing a save than that. The Philadelphia Phillies lost both games in their double header with the Toronto Blue Jays. In game one, Spencer Howard was cruising 97 mph fastballs by hitters until Joe Girardi took him out after 3 2/3 innings. The bullpen was abysmal from there as Tommy Hunter and Deolis Guerra blew the lead. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit the walk off for the Blue Jays. In game two, the Phillies started out with a 7-0 lead in the first inning, but found a way to lose. Vince Velasquez allowed a two-run home run instantly and once he was pulled the bullpen fell apart. (You've probably heard that before) Connor Brogdon struggled and Hector Neris wasn't able to execute. He was not helped by the defense at all as Scott Kingery and Didi Gregorius made sloppy plays to keep the sixth inning alive. Check out my sponsors! The Philadelphia Phillies shutout the Atlanta Braves by a score of 5-0. Jake Arrieta pitched a fantastic game, throwing six innings and looking like the 2015 version of himself. JT Realmuto stays hot at the plate, hitting a solo home run to start the scoring in the fourth inning. Jay Bruce followed with a three-run shot of his own. In the eighth inning, Bryce Harper was knocked in by Didi Gregorius to add insurance. The bullpen was able to secure the victory. José Álvarez, Tommy Hunter, and Deolis Guerra finished the job. The Philadelphia Phillies split their double header with the New York Yankees. Zack Wheeler pitched game 1 as the Phillies won 11-7. It was 11-3 until the bullpen came in.... Austin Davis is a dumpster fire. It got to the point where Hector Neris had to warm up and pitch which snowballed into game two. Bryce Harper hit a 2-run bomb, Rhys Hoskins got a big hit with bases loaded, and JT Realmuto homered. In game 2, Aaron Nola was SENSATIONAL! He recorded 12 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Joe Girardi pulled him out of the game with 88 pitches to put in Tommy Hunter. The score was tied at the time and before recording an out, the Yankees took a 3-1 lead. Needless to say, this bullpen is a SERIOUS issue. Check out my sponsor! Orbit Energy & Power: www.orbitenergy.us or Call (800) 836-3987

www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com #Podcast Two years after being publicly reprimanded in the wake of a Facebook post calling Congressman John Lewis a “racist pig,” Gwinnett County Commissioner Tommy Hunter has filed a new federal lawsuit asking for $5 million in damages. The suit filed last week in U.S. District Court in Atlanta claims that the punishment handed down by Hunter’s commission colleagues in June 2017 violated his First Amendment right to free speech. In addition to the monetary demands, it asks that the reprimand — which was posted at the Gwinnett County courthouse, on the county website and in the county’s legal organ — be rescinded.“Chilling of 1st Amendment political speech by government officials to negate criticism of other elected government officials … amounts to an overbroad ‘political correctness’ gag order,” Hunter’s attorney, Dwight Thomas, wrote in the suit.
