And we all HATE CHINA, RIGHT???), has $100m in contracts with ICEIn fact, there's a whole private infrastructure complex that's largely not politically agnostic that's made $22bn from ICE and immigration crackdowns - and it's only been a year! That's some awesome shareholder value illegally sending weeping mothers to countries they don't live in with no due process!CEOs (Target, looking at you) DRThey managed to find a pen and craft a strongly worded letter that asked, pretty please, for “de-escalation”, calling ICE out not by NAME of course, but as a “recent challenge” that created “widespread disruption” - and named the White House only as someone they are “communicating” with. Signed by 60 Minnesota CEOs, co-signed in spirit by the Business Roundtable (though not like, officially), they managed to write a whole 199 words about the execution of a VA nurse whose crime was filming the Gestapo in actionTarget's incoming CEO (obviously not the CURRENT CEO Brian Cornell, he's busy polishing his mahogany chair for board meetings where he will be Executive Chair, making as much as a CEO with none of the responsibilities) also addressed the unlawful and unwarranted arrests of Target employees in Minneapolis by thugs - oh, wait, no he didn't - he said, “The violence and loss of life in our community is incredibly painful.” - IT WAS YOUR EMPLOYEES IN THE CROSSHAIRS, SCHMUCK. Target employees are currently skipping work in Minnesota, but solid leadership.Boards of directorsOur analysis of the boards of the Minnesota 60 showed that nearly half of them sit on each other's boards. Basically, you have a massive groupcoward problem - about 25 of the CEOs sit on some other CEOs board or overlap in some way, and the lawyers that carefully crafted the letter absolutely had to have it run through every other board and company lawyer, a task made easier when half of you are on the board with each other. No need for authenticity when you have collective ass covering.Jeffrey EpsteinIf not for those files, there wouldn't NEED TO BE MURDERS so you look somewhere else!InvestorsIf not for “shareholder value”, we could pay attention to humanity and authentic real world values!WHICH ASSHOLE DO YOU BLAME: As You Sow leads criticism of SEC's updated restrictions on smaller shareholdersSmaller investors! For three decades, small investors have used precatory proposals either as a means to extract more data, a means to improve governance, or a means of advertising - many of the non profits use it as a fundraising tool as much as a means of changeMeanwhile, those proposals have almost entirely failed at the vote - though they HAVE succeeded in increasing our data over time (the long arc of disclosure)Then the zone gets flooded by the anti-woke shareholders looking to de-trans companies, and now we have a massive influx of performative proposalsNow that the insiders are in charge (vs. career bureaucrats), in a six month period, virtually all rights have been revoked with threats of paperwork for non complianceAs a final cherry, they are now trying to keep EXEMPT SOLICITATIONS off the filing docket unless you have $5m in stock, so you can't even file your intent to vote directionally unless you're super richJohn CheveddenThe gadflyfather - if not for being the winningest shareholder in history with a nearly obsessive focus on improving shareholder rights, the most boring of topics, the SEC would probably have ignored the whole thingBut the data shows the SEC is taking the time to blanket ignore everyone BUT Chevedden, responding to affirmatively say no to his proposalsJC, no one likes a repeat champion dynastyThe SECBrain Daly at the SEC is out there suggesting maybe NO ONE should vote proxies while SEC Chair Atkins tried to gaslight the entire investment community by claiming the “government shutdown” made it too hard for the poor ole SEC to do its job, so they just gave companies immunity from proposals in lieu of doing their jobsMeanwhile, Atkins has overseen a steep drop in enforcement of accounting irregularities and reporting while simultaneously green lighting crypto scams and Exxon's new “retail vote” capture plan (which gives management anywhere from 5-20% of the company vote depending on the company by auto voting retail that opts in)All with Trump family in the backdrop raking in 1.4bn in the first year of the presidency from crypto token bullshit, asset seizures and sales, and pure graft - none of which will obviously be investigated despite Trump's son actively on a public board of directorsBigger investors!THEY NEVER REALLY CARED ABOUT VOTING ANYWAY! 96% average support for directors, 0.2% of directors globally voted out annually, and of those that are voted out (~20 a year), MORE THAN HALF STAY ON THE BOARD either by bylaw (cumulative voting) or as zombies (Jay Hoag!)And still, NO ONE CARES!WHICH ASSHOLE DO YOU BLAME: Marc Andreessen says the real crisis isn't AI job losses — it's what would have happened without AIThe powerless AI makersSam Altman: Sam Altman Says AI Will Cause Massive Deflation, Making Money Worth Vastly More - that's pretty good if you're already a billionaire, yeah?Dario Amodei: Anthropic CEO Warns That the AI Tech He's Creating Could Ravage Human Civilization - uh, don't create itThe CEO of Microsoft Suddenly Sounds Extremely Nervous About AIAI anxiety is so widespread that veteran Microsoft researchers are having panic attacks because they're making themselves obsoleteThe VC Navel Gazing Manchild EconomyAndreessen's genius was investing in manchildren: Facebook, Roblox, AirBnBVCs actually are giving LESS MONEY to women than the INCREDIBLY LOW AMOUNT they already gave during the AI raceYOU - you should have been a plumber or a peasant or a construction workerHeadliniest of the WeekDR: Cracker Barrel Wants Its Staff to Eat One Thing on Work Trips: Cracker BarrelMM: The company Americans say is the best place to work in 2026 isn't who you thinkCrew Carwash - washing cars is better than tech bro manbaby festsMM: The Worst People Alive Are Obsessed With Meta's Video Recording GlassesWho Won the Week?DR: Resistance in Minnesota and Maine (I'm attempting to be optimistic here, give me a break)MM: 33% of corporate leaders: As Big Tech CEOs speak up about violence in Minneapolis, 1 in 3 corporate leaders think ICE tensions are ‘not relevant to their business'PredictionsDR: January 1st will officially be recognized by the Business Roundtable as "Equality Day"—celebrating the grueling minutes it takes a CEO to earn more than their average worker for the year. Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today! Do our prayers really change anything, or is God just going to do what He wants anyway? This week, Catherine Segars, host of the Christian Parent, Crazy World podcast, joins Jaime for a riveting discussion on the theology of intercession based on Watchman Nee’s classic book, Let Us Pray. In this joint episode, Catherine unpacks the stunning concept that God often waits for His people to pray before He acts. She explains the "Train Track" analogy—how God’s will is the locomotive, but our prayers lay the rails for His power to move on earth. Catherine also shares her dramatic personal testimony of warring in prayer for her miracle children in her 40s. She details how she learned to direct her outrage at the enemy rather than God during difficult times. You’ll walk away with a new "legal" framework for the heavenly courtroom, understanding how to partner with God to see His will established in your life and the lives of your children. What if one night, someone saw you walking away… while you were still inside? And what if years later, your own child started talking to someone who shouldn't exist anymore? First, a young girl named Madeline steps out of a small-town Kansas movie theater, or so her father and sister think. They watch her cross toward the train tracks — same clothes, same hair, same movements. But the real Madeline was still in the restroom. When she emerged minutes later, they realized they had seen something that looked exactly like her vanish into thin air. A doppelganger, a glitch, or something darker? Then comes a second story of love and loss that refuses to fade. A father's three-year-old son begins to speak of his late grandmother — the woman he never knew — warning, “Grandma's not happy.” When the boy later points to her photo and repeats the same phrase, the family begins to believe she's trying to send a message from beyond, desperate to heal what was broken after her death. #trueghoststory #doppelganger #hauntedfamily #realhaunting #ghostencounter #paranormalactivity #realparanormal #creepystory #afterlife #ghoststories Love real ghost stories? The first episode in a new series of Feedback, presented by Andrea Catherwood.A recent edition of File on 4 Investigates went inside the migrant hotels at the centre of anti-immigration protests in England to talk to residents about their experiences. But listeners were divided in what they thought of the documentary. The journalist who made programme, Sue Mitchell, joins Andrea to answer your comments and questions. While Feedback was off air we heard the news that veteran presenter Melvyn Bragg would be stepping down from presenting In Our Time after 27 years at the programme's helm. You've been suggesting your favourite names to take over - and we talk to radio critic Simon O'Hagan about the end of Melvyn's reign. And Radio 3 took the time to celebrate 200 years of the birth of the modern railway recently. There was a day of specially scheduled programming - Train Tracks, in which listeners heard Petroc Trelawney travelling from Inverness to London by train in the company of other Radio 3 presenters, soundtracked by themed playlists. Petroc joins us to hear what listeners had to say about the celebration.Presenter: Andrea Catherwood Producer: Pauline Moore Assistant Producer: Rebecca Guthrie Executive Producer: David PrestA Whistledown Scotland production for BBC Radio 4

Ever wondered why your spiritual resolutions fade faster than New Year's gym memberships? This episode explores a profound metaphor that transforms how we approach teshuva (repentance) and spiritual growth.Drawing wisdom from a great Gadol, we examine why many well-intentioned spiritual commitments taken on during Elul are doomed from the start. The problem isn't your dedication—it's the approach. Just as an orthodontist understands that teeth can't be forcibly repositioned overnight, meaningful spiritual transformation requires patience, consistency, and properly calibrated pressure. When patients complain about the lengthy orthodontic process, wondering why their teeth can't be moved more quickly, they're missing a fundamental truth: abrupt changes don't last. The same principle applies to our souls. Those ambitious commitments to learn Torah for hours daily or meticulously observe long-neglected commandments often collapse because we're trying to move our spiritual teeth too quickly.True teshuva resembles orthodontics—small, thoughtful adjustments applied consistently over time. Rather than grand gestures, focus on addressing root issues with attainable practices. Consider saying Hamapil before sleeping to facilitate waking for morning prayers, or choose one small commitment to maintain weekly. Consult your "spiritual orthodontist"—a rabbi who can design the appropriate treatment plan for your soul's unique needs.Ready to transform your approach to spiritual growth? Stop setting yourself up for failure with unsustainable commitments. Embrace the orthodontic model of teshuva—patient, consistent, and designed for lasting change. Your spiritual smile will thank you.Support the showJoin The Motivation Congregation WhatsApp community for daily motivational Torah content!---------------- SUBSCRIBE to The Weekly Parsha for an insightful weekly talk on the week's Parsha. "In my area of North America, train journeys are relatively rare. Taking a train feels like a special occasion because I only have the opportunity when I'm far from home. I've always enjoyed the exploratory feel of train rides: a train journey feels almost like stolen time, where normal responsibilities are paused and you are given freedom to simply be, if you choose. "I was inspired by the F#-A train horn to create a harmonic home base of the broad key of B (be). Flute and alto flute depicts both the rhythmic train engine (with a nod to Steve Reich's ‘Different Trains') and the melodic way fragments of thoughts and ideas drift in and out when in a meditative state." Trains in Palo Alto reimagined by Margaret Fischer.

The victim at the center of our case this week, Lopaz Richardson, was a talented artist, and it was art and the supportive community that is so often bred from art that were driving passions in his life. So, when he disappeared on July 7th, 2021 at such a successful time in his life, those close to him knew that foul play was involved, even though law enforcement seem to believe otherwise. If you are interested in bonus content for our show or in getting some Coffee and Cases swag, please consider joining Patreon. In this episode, the Beth and Mel delve into the fascinating concept of timelines, exploring how different paths and choices might lead to similar outcomes. They discuss experiences that suggest the convergence of life paths and question the extent of free will and destiny - drawing parallels with cultural narratives like the film 'Sliding Doors' and the Netflix series 'Umbrella Academy,' pondering if multiple versions of ourselves live out various potential realities. The conversation touches on how visualisation and intentionality can impact real-life outcomes, citing personal experiences and the significance of pivotal life choices. They also explore the idea that there may be a convergence point in our lives where all past decisions culminate in a single direction, suggesting an alignment with a higher purpose or destiny.Listen in, it's a good one.00:00 Introduction and Greetings00:12 A Weekend Retreat and Timelines01:15 Converging Timelines and Destiny04:35 Quantum Realities and Free Will08:14 Seasonal Changes and Reflections10:17 Visualizing Future Timelines15:59 Empowered Choices and Higher Self22:21 Train Tracks and Life Paths33:54 Conclusion and Call to Action

I love getting a sequencer mix from Paul! I don't seek out Berlin school, sequencer based music very much anymore which is strange because I really enjoy it when I hear it. But I don't need to seek it out because I know the best sequencer music researcher - Paul Asbury Seaman. And he regularly provides me with my Berlin school fix. Every track included in this mix is top notch sequencer bliss. I knew a few of the artists but most are new to me which is why I love these mixes. Paul turned me on to Gert Blokzijl earlier this year so it cool to a track from him in the mix. And also nice to see a couple of tracks from Frank Dorittke (F.D. Project). There will be a track featuring Frank's guitar in an upcoming guitar mix. Here are Paul's thoughts on this mix: "In the U.S., Memorial Day marks the traditional start of summer. So a good time for another train mix to stir your holiday dreams. This one favors rhythmic continuity over musical diversity, so while fast-paced, should still have a relaxing, even hypnotic effect. My guiding image was long-distance high-speed rail, with lots of time for drifting thoughts as you glide through the endless European lowlands, across the rice fields of Japan, or the open prairies of the US and Canada. In that spirit, this extended-length mix gives the longer tracks (mostly in the second half) time to stretch out as they were intended.” Thanks for the great tunes, Paul. On August 23, 1987, Arkansas teenagers Kevin Ives & Don Henry set out for a hunting trip around midnight. The events of that night in the woods remain shrouded in mystery What is certain is that around 4 a.m., during a routine journey to Little Rock, a cargo train engineer looked ahead on the tracks in horror. He saw the 2 teens lying side by side on the tracks, partly covered by a green tarp. They were motionless, not even flinching as the locomotive grew closer Despite the engineer's efforts, the train was unable to halt in time, running over the boys. Tragically, Kevin and Don died. Initially the medical examiner ruled their deaths as accidental. But the boys parents looked deeper into their sons deaths, they found a tangled web of corruption & deceit Don & Kevin were murdered that night. But by who? Susan's been a private investigator in Vermont for 24 years. She defends people who are accused of crimes, which often involve drugs in one way or another. This summer she was robbed by a person with a terrible heroin addiction, and it made her really angry, and really tired. This is that story. And if you haven't heard any of the Susan shows before, I recommend listening to some of the others first. There are at least four, and the very first one is called Vermont Private Eye.

Fox News' Tucker Carlson hinted at a new conspiracy theory to explain the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, and Andy Levy and Danielle Moodie, co-hosts of The New Abnormal politics podcast, poke as many holes in it as they can (and with humor to boot). Plus, Shay Khatiri, Senior Policy Analyst at the Jewish Institute for National Security of America, and Danielle debate whether the attacks on Nikki Haley's name are valid based on Shay's recent opinion piece for The Daily Beast “Stop Being a Jerk About Nikki Haley's Name”—one of the first TNA debates. And Jennifer Wright, author of the book Madame Restell: The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Old New York's Most Fabulous, Fearless, and Infamous Abortionist, tells Andy all about the badass woman from the 1800s who got rich—and infamous—helping women have abortions without killing them in the process.
