Kris Williams, knows as KDub on a YouTube channel titled "All Things Theology," was one of the most respected and highly influential Christian influencers on social media. He was articulate, videos were excellent in presentation, and he often engaged with his audience. For all that was good with and about KDub, the Christian influencer world and many in the evangelical churches who appreciated his ministry were shocked to hear of his recent fall into sin and a sad separation from his wife and family, and his church community as well. The news came as a lightning bolt, but at the same time, is a warning sound that some things need to change within the online Christian social media community to help all of us from falling into the schemes of the evil one in the future. This episode of 2Days Denarius is devoted to two recent events. The first is an appreciation for the life and ministry of Precept Bible International's founder and Bible teacher, Kay Arthur. Kay went home to be with the Lord around the same time as the news concerning Kris Williams was released by his church in Texas. The second portion of the podcast deals with the the "what we know" regarding Kris Williams, a call to prayer for him, and addresses concerning trends that have not promoted sound Christian behavior in the Christian influencer social media community over the last two years. This podcast comes with a heavy heart and with a call to prayer for our community to reevaluate itself and its focus, which hopefully will lead to a much greater focus on the glory of God and the spread of the good news of Jesus Christ's saving grace instead of videos and behaviors that attack others. It's amazing at times what you can find when you're looking for something else on your computer screen! I found this gem of a short letter/devotional on my Home Screen and thought it was worth sharing to my listeners. It details a letter written by the third President, Thomas Jefferson, at the request of one of his friends who named his son after Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson wrote a kind and informative short letter that the boy would receive when he reached his age of understanding. Jefferson noted that he took a particular interest in the lad since he bore his name. There is much to be said in Jefferson's words as they offer insight to much biblical admonition with a focus on God's providence. On this episode of 2Days Denarius, we will read and examine this letter, highlighting Jefferson's encouraging words that often reflected the ways and commandments of God. We will also place a magnifying glass on one of the great stories of God's sovereignty and providence from the life of King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4 to better understand God's providence in His world and our lives. A transcript of the letter itself is provided below.Monticello, February 21, 1825This letter will, to you, be as one from the dead. The writer will be in the grave before you can weigh its counsels. Your affectionate and excellent father has requested that I would address to you something which might possibly have a favorable influence on the course of life you have to run, and I too, as a namesake, feel an interest in that course. Few words will be necessary, with good dispositions on your part. Adore God. Reverence and cherish your parents. Love your neighbor as yourself, and your country more than yourself. Be just. Be true. Murmur not at the ways of Providence. So shall the life into which you have entered, be the portal to one of eternal and ineffable bliss. And if to the dead it is permitted to care for the things of this world, every action of your life will be under my regard. It is time once again for Christians to take part in this special annual event that calls for us to take time to pray for our nation, the church, our government, our society, our leadership across this nation, for peace in our world, and for a revival that brings repentance and biblical spiritual renewal to our land. Certainly our prayer needs are great in these times. We live in a world that often seems dangerous, which requires the need for us to stand in the gap - the spiritual gap - and call upon our God to bring us back to His will and ways. This episode of 2Days Denarius celebrates the history of the National Day of Prayer, along with providing three prayers (including one from the late great Evangelist, Billy Graham. These prayers may serve as a guide or encourage direct participation for those who listen, or those who desire guidance on what to pray for. There is strength in numbers when God's people pray together! Join in with millions of other Americans on Thursday, May 1, 2025 in our annual concert of prayer! * Two corrections are added here: 1) President Ronald Reagan signed his first proclamation for the National Day of Prayer in 1983. 2) Congress approved the National Day of Prayer to be observed on May 1 annually on the first Thursday in May, which was signed into law by President Reagan, in 1988.2Days Denarius is a Bible believing teaching ministry devoted to the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. He came to seek and to save the lost, dying by crucifixion schemed and forced upon him by His enemies - and the evil one. This episode of 2Days Denarius focus on the three greatest days in world history - the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This podcast comes from a devotional that was written by Rev. Thomas in 2012 and remains relevant to this day. This is a reflection of the great love God demonstrated to lost sinners to give His Son to die in our place (Rom. 5:8). If you haven't taken reflection and remembrance time during this Resurrection Day Holiday weekend, let this podcast assist you in this and may the Lord richly bless your meditations upon Him. Your comments are welcome! Send a text my way!Without question, Jonathan Edwards is the greatest pastor/theologian in American history, and certainly one of the greatest in church history. Many, when they think of Edwards, believe he was no more than a "hellfire and brimstone preacher" because of his sermon, "Sinners In the Hands of an Angry God" that they read while in high school or college. Nothing could be further from the truth on this matter. Edwards could preach on heaven, the Christian life, salvation, love (as seen in his "Charity and Its Fruits" sermon series, along with many other topics of faith just as well as he preached on eternal punishment. This episode of 2Days Denarius gives the listener a glimpse of another side of Edwards that is often ignored. How he could preach about Christ, forgiveness of sin, and salvation in the two devotionals in this podcast with a gentle but total focus on the truth about God's forgiveness for the greatest of sinners will give great encouragement to the lost and those who are saved as well. This is great listening! And may help listeners with a new desire to explore other works by Edwards that are readily available to this day. In addition, this podcast includes Jonathan Edwards own personal testimony about how he came to faith in Christ in the beginning of this podcast. Your comments are welcome! Send a text my way! There are many topics in Scripture that can lead to controversy and unfortunately separation from true Christians when we should really still be together as one in spite of many of our differences. Certainly, one of the greatest topics of battles through the years has been the issue of election, which was basically defined and codified in John Calvin's famous work "The Institutes of the Christian Religion." This episode of 2Days Denarius focuses on a short devotional by the famous late minister and author A. W. Tozer, in which he, in short and strait order, laid out a small case in favor of God's choosing grace and dependence on Him over a man-made decision process in one's salvation. This podcast graciously covers this topic from some biblical and historical viewpoints. We should never afraid to look at difficult topics in Scripture. They are there for us to study with open heart and mind, through the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit. Your comments are welcome! Send a text my way!It has been six months since we heard anything publicly from the famous pastor, Dr. Steve Lawson. Though many have been making their own speculations and conclusions, it has become clear now that Lawson needed this "silent time" as an opportunity for repentance, which resulted from an extra-marital affair over a five-year period. On this episode of 2Days Denarius, we will examine Steve Lawson's extended message that was posted on "X" March 12, 2025. This post contained his confession and grief over his sin and explains the process of repentance and recovery during this six month time frame. His silence was explained, in addition to his seeking reconciliation with his wife and family. This thoughtful and detailed letter to the church at large on "X" is one for all of us to see as an example of the proper response and handling of a believer caught in sin, repentance, healing, recovery, and restoration as led by mature Christians in accordance with Galatians 6:1-2. Lawson noted that he will not post on "X" at this point for an indefinite period of time. Your comments are welcome! Send a text my way! This may be a strange title for a new podcast on 2Days Denarius, but it will make sense once those who listen tune in! Billy Graham, once told a story about Albert Einstein and his lost ticket on a train that he searched diligently for but could not find. It held the secret to where he was going on the train. Billy Graham told this story at his final public appearance, letting community leaders who were honoring him in Charlotte, NC, know that he was reaching the end of his early journey. At a recent annual Shepherds Conference sponsored by the Grace Community Church Ministries, which are led by the famous evangelical minister, John MacArthur, he too announced by video to those who attended this conference that he was on, what he believes, is the "last lap" of his early journey. This podcast takes a look into part of the audio from the video Pastor John MacArthur shared with those who attended the Shepherds Conference. It is worth hearing the words of a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at this point in his service to the Lord. John MacArthur has been hospitalized for a significant period of time and has lost a great amount of strength as he currently is receiving therapy to build some physical strength back again. Let's take time to pray for this faith hero who never stood on the sidelines when the Word of God and the church were being challenged. 2Days Denarius is a Bible believing teaching ministry devoted to the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. It focuses on our challenges to walk in the path of faith, while at the same time, running the race in our journey without looking back. Our Lord, as it says in Philippians 1:6, created a good work in us and He will be faithful complete it. Paul wrote that he strained forward to what lie ahead. It's clear that a lesson can be learned from what Paul taught us. Your comments are welcome! Send a text my way! There are a good number of spiritual disciplines that lead to our growth and walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Among the most practical and needful in our lives is Bible reading, along with memorization/meditation of Scripture, and studying God's Word. It's true that many who desire to read Scripture regularly find the Bible overwhelming and difficult to read, so they give up on something very needful in their walk of faith. This episode of 2Days Denarius sets a foundation and plan for those who desire to dedicate themselves to reading through the Bible in 2025 and beyond. It provides the important biblical foundation for doing so, which Bibles are most useful to aid the reader, various annual Bible reading plans that can support the reader in accomplishing the task of Scripture reading, and practical advice that can help readers avoid pitfalls, overcome them, and remain faithful to get through their Bible reading plan in 2025! Your comments are welcome! Send a text my way!A few years back, the late R. C. Sproul made some observations about the Bible related to gift giving and actual reading of the Bible among Christians in our time. It was noted that though many revere and respect the Word of God, the far...far majority of Christians never make a real effort to read it. Some don't read because to them it is irrelevant in our "sophisticated" times, and others believe that it is too difficult to comprehend, especially when it comes to books in the Bible like Leviticus and Numbers. The new episode of 2Days Denarius addresses these topics and shares ideas that help facilitate and increase willingness for Christians to take steps to engage Scripture in their daily living. The spiritual discipline of Bible reading is the first step one must take to properly partake in mediation, biblical study, memorization of Scripture, among other spiritual disciplines that affect our growth and walk in our union with Christ. So take the challenge! It is very doable and the listener will discover how to find Bible reading plans they can use to help them accomplish this worthy task! It's been almost two months since the moral lapse of Steve Lawson took place and it seems that we are not much further on what happened or if there is any real spiritual progress by him toward repentance, recovery, and ultimate restoration to his church body. This episode of 2Days Denarius respectfully deals with the Steve Lawson situation as one that teaches all believers, especially those in ministry, lessons for living our lives of faith to avoid the slippery slopes that can lead to spiritual failings and falls. This presentation works off stories written about Lawson but they appear more alleged at times and it truly is a slippery slope to reach any conclusions about it. There is a larger issue from Lawson's fall and other high profile minister failings in 2024, which is a near universal setting aside of the doctrine of the church (ecclesiology) in our times. Our focus will be on this and how ministers should function with proper titles and shepherding responsibilities. It also calls for us to keep all affected by this situation in prayer and to pray for the church as a whole. 2Days Denarius is a full Bible believing ministry emphasizing the inerrancy, infallibility and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. It also subscribes to the tenets of the London Baptist Confession of 1689. With Election 2024 upon us, this offers a blessed opportunity for Christians to unite together in prayer for our nation and its upcoming Presidential Election. The prayer here is found from Daniel's great intercessory prayer from Chapter 9 of the book that bears his name. It is an example of seeking repentance, forgiveness and restoration for God's people to return to Him. This is an invitation for Christians and all who wish to pray for Election 2024 to take time to seek our Heavenly Father who is in control of all things in His world (Psalm 115:3). 2Days Denarius is a full Bible believing, inerrancy, infallibility and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice ministry. 2DaysD can be reached at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. Hypocrisy has brought much devastation in our world, especially in our relationships with others and God as well. This video examines a devotional from an English Puritan divine, Andrew Bromhall (1608-1662), who had extensive work with men in ministry in his time who had fallen into sin or were inefficient in ministry. He was the right man to write on the topic of hypocrisy having worked a period of his ministry with those who were living in it. But this devotional not only gives warnings about the dangers and damages that hypocrisy causes, it also provides remedies and solutions to help us avoid hypocrisy in our lives as we daily live to please our Savior and for the glory of God. The excellent devotional this lesson comes from is a book titled, "Voices From the Past: Puritan Devotional Readings" Vol. 2. The material used from this book falls under the Fair Use Act 17 USC 107, which allows copyrighted material to be used for criticism/evaluation, teaching. etc. Banner of Truth publishes volumes 1 and 2 of "Voices From the Past" and both are excellent additions to anyone who enjoys and benefits spiritually from Puritan writings. No doubt there are many great spiritual devotionals out there that help us grow in our relationship to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I've read a good number of them. But the devotional that is recommended in this video, unlike any other I've ever seen, truly teaches us and richly enhances our prayer and meditation times unlike any other I've ever seen. If you want to learn how to pray, meditate, and learn how to grow in the faith, this devotional is for you. It is a collection of Puritan prayers by faithful men of the past, such as Richard Baxter, Thomas Watson, David Brainerd, Charles Spurgeon, among many others. This episode of 2Days Denarius takes an educational and teaching approach to a devotional published by Banner of Truth Trust titled "The Valley of Vision." It is available through banneroftruth.org. 2Days Denarius is an evangelical Christian ministry which fully supports the inerrancy, infallibility and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. It also follows the tenets of the London Baptist Confession of 1689 and the Westminster Confession of 1647. 2Days Denarius may be found on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@2daysd. It can also be reached at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. This third part of the Evangelism Fundamentals series focuses on the practical use of the Romans Road model for witnessing and sharing the gospel with the lost. It will provide practical advice in situations that may arise that could distract the one who's sharing the good news with this model. It also gives a verse by verse breakdown of how these verses are used to help someone understand what it takes to be saved and the free offer of salvation for one who receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The first two parts of this series should be watched first as it lays the biblical foundation for the Christian who desires to use this model to share with understanding each verse and its application to the lost individual. There are also recommended videos on YouTube that one may view to gain a greater understanding in how to witness and how to share a testimony that points to the cross and how Jesus changed the life of the one who's witnessing to an unsaved individual. These videos can be found on YouTube under the titles of "Pete Maravich Testimony 1987" and Ray Comfort's "She Screamed from Her Car Then This Happened." We live in a time when evangelism has dwindled and in many places the message has been so watered down that many may not be truly saved. This series is dedicated to help all who seriously desire to be a solid witness for Jesus Christ and the salvation He offers to get the message right and hopefully see many souls come to faith. 2Days Denarius is a Bible believing ministry that stand for the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. It also adheres to the doctrines of the true faith as found in the London Baptist Confession of 1689. This ministry may be reached by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com
Most Christians today seem to avoid theological topics and doctrine. But to learn about what took place when we were saved and taking that learning into our evangelistic efforts can have amazing effects. This is part 2 of the Evangelism Fundamentals series and delves into what takes place from the time one is called and convicted of sin, to repentance and faith, and then to regeneration and justification. Evangelicals used to understand these terms and applications well in sharing our faith. But in our times, it's unfortunate to see that these appear to have become punchlines. Take a listen to this new episode. It gives great cause for rejoicing for believers and a warning to those who do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. 2Days Denarius is a Bible believing and teaching ministry. It adheres to full inerrancy of Scripture, its infallibility, and its authority as our only rule of faith and practice. It also is in agreement with the traditional and historic tenets of the London Baptist Confession of 1689. 2Days Denarius can be reached at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. Theme song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission of song's author and performer, Pastor Steve Hereford, of the Changed By Grace Church in Jacksonville, FL.
We live in a time where there is, sadly, much confusion and lack of knowledge about the Gospel and how we truly come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Much of this has been done through confusing language and methods that have easily satisfied people with a false faith that avoids them from dealing with their sin and truly abandoning themselves through full surrender to the Savior through the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. This first of a three part series will begin to look at methodology in evangelistic practice by considering the case of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in Act 8:26-36. The second part of the series will examine many of the theological underpinnings of the Gospel message and what is to be understood and experienced by a lost individual before they come to faith in Christ. The third part of this series will be a training session on the use of the Romans Road as a tool to help people share the Good News with others. 2Days Denarius as a ministry holds to the traditional evangelical doctrines of the faith as displayed in the London Baptist Confession of 1689, and most doctrines of the Westminster Confession of 1647. It also adheres fully to the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. Theme song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission from author and artist Pastor Steve Hereford of the Changed By Grace Church in Jacksonville FL.
On Thursday, May 2, 2024, will be our nation's annual National Day of Prayer recognition. Annual days set aside for prayer in our nation has a rich history dating back to the Puritans and George Washington, who called for days of national prayer in 1775 and 1779. We are a nation in distress and crises in many ways at this time. These extend to sins as a nation and distress that is seen not only here, but around the world as well. National Day of Prayer is an Interfaith event that calls for citizens of all faiths to pray for the nation particularly on this day. This podcast calls on all Christians to participate and begin to make a renewed commitment to be salt and light in a wayward society that needs revival and renewal in the sight of God. This year's prayer features a prayer from late Evangelist Billy Graham, who not only was a national hero, but spent considerable time and participation in getting the National Day of Prayer recognized by President Harry Truman in 1952. President Ronald Reagan cemented its annual legacy in 1983 and set it to take place on the first Thursday in May annually in 1988. Make sure you PRAY and REFLECT today! Make a list for prayer. In these times it will be a very long one.
Yes with each new year comes great opportunity to reflect and reassess our growth in the faith. Certainly 2024 is no different. This new podcast is dedicated to believers who desire to leverage and up their spiritual walk this coming year. Our walk of faith, both where we stand and where we hope to grow, are critical to lend increased attention to this year. This world is more uncertain in more ways than we've seen in most of our lifetimes. In this podcast, topics such as Bible reading plans, biblical meditation, time management for spiritual things, living lives of simplicity, giving, among other spiritual disciplines that, if given attention to with a plan of action by the listener, are most certainly going to lend to a far great walk with the Lord in 2024. Take a listen and most the most of your time in growing in your faith walk in 2024!
Merry Christmas to my listeners and all who take time to listen to the 2Days Denarius podcast channel! It's been over six months since the last 2DaysD podcast and the reasons for the break are explained in the podcast. However, there has been activity by the ministry on the YouTube channel of 2DaysD, which will be discussed in this episode. In addition, let's take time to cover a few verses from Scripture about the Christmas Story! Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to earth to seek and to save the lost.
The annual recognition of the National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 4, 2023. This episode of 2Days Denarius, as in the previous two years, is devoted to giving prayer on behalf of our great nation. This year, it's being done differently than the prior two as it gives those who listen an opportunity to join in and pray from their own hearts over the seven different prayer topics it covers. These include, Family, Church, Education, Business and the Workplace, the Military, our Government, the Arts, Entertainment, and the Media. All these sectors are critical to the health and wellbeing of our nation. This is guided prayer. There is no music, as all who participate should come with focused hearts and minds, with no distraction. Please take the necessary time to pause from all activity, to find a place to pray with fervency and intensity, as these are so much needed at this time. 2Days Denarius is grateful to the National Day of Prayer Task Force for providing the prayer guide that this episode of 2DaysD follows. In addition, this ministry expresses gratitude to the First Baptist Church Atlanta for promoting participation and the prayer guides on its website as well. The prayer guides my be obtained at the weblinks nationaldayofprayer.org or fba.org. 2Days Denarius is a social media ministry dedicated to the spiritual growth of Christians and to reach the lost with the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ and Him alone. The creator of this podcast fully supports the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. He also holds to the doctrines of the true Christian faith as provided in the London Baptist Confession of 1689. On April 18, 2023, one of the great evangelical preachers of our generation passed on to our heavenly home. Dr. Charles Stanley was 90 years old and left behind an amazingly fruitful ministry covering over 68 years. Not only did he serve at First Baptist Church of Atlanta as its pastor for 49 years, he also headed In Touch Ministries, that was viewed and listened to around the world since 1972. When I think about Charles Stanley, the word that comes to mind is "impact." He was a true gentleman, but was still sincere in the pulpit and spoke the truth always in a caring and loving way that brought new hope and life in Christ to thousands in all his years of ministry. This tribute to Dr. Charles Stanley focuses on my personal stories of learning from him from a distance for over 30 years on radio, television, and the internet. It also covers some of his milestones and great contributions to the church as well. 2Days Denarius is a Bible teaching ministry that exists to encourage Christians and support them in their spiritual growth. It also seeks to give the message of the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ to the lost. It's a ministry built on the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. That is, it is a truly Evangelical ministry in doctrine. 2DaysD may be reached by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com Them song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission of songwriter/artist, Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. His four albums of Scripture songs may be found under his name "Steve Hereford" on Spotify.
This new episode of 2Days Denarius takes up where the previous podcast on this topic of the Asbury Revival and Jesus Revolution movie left off. It provides a respectful and closer examination of the direction of the Asbury Revival and the fruits of the Jesus Movement from the mid 1960s-1970s. As Scripture states in 1 John 4:1, it is appropriate that we "test the spirits" of these events by close examination for the spiritual safety of Christians and our own. Jonathan Edwards and Martyn Lloyd-Jones established solid biblical criteria upon which to make reasonable conclusions on these events. They are covered in this episode, making this likely to be the most important of the three podcasts on this topic. The New Apostolic Reformation, which is an off-shoot of the false prophet, Lonnie Frisbee side of the Jesus Movement is examined, among other checks that bring the overall authenticity Asbury Outpouring into question. 2Days Denarius is Bible teaching ministry dedicated to the edification and spiritual growth of Christians, along with spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost. The creator of this podcast, Rev. Ron Thomas, fully believes in the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. He also holds to the doctrines as defined in the London Baptist Confession of 1689, Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and most of the provisions set in the Westminster Confession of Faith 1647. 2Days Denarius can be reached by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. Theme song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission of author/artist Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville FL. He writes many wonderful Scripture songs and his four albums may be streamed on Spotify. Search Steve Hereford.
Whether coincidence or Providence, it has to be wondered how the Asbury Revival and the release of the Jesus Revolution movie occurred in such near proximity. But both of these have been out in front of us enough now to take a closer examination of the authenticity and effect they may be having on the religious and secular world around us. The book of 1 John 4:1 commands "...do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God..." (CSB). The warnings about false prophets and their ability to deceive are clear throughout both testaments in Scripture. In our day of ecumenism, spiritual ignorance, and idolatry, Christians must maintain knowledge of whether or not a revival is a true work of the Holy Spirit. This episode of 2Days Denarius is the fist part of 2 that will explore this issue. It's a fascinating journey that includes evaluation, edification, and encouragement to help us navigate and stay on a straight path on our faith journey. The Asbury Revival is a recent event but the Jesus Movement, as portrayed in the Jesus Revolution movie, began in the mid to late 1960s throughout the 1970s. But both have impact today, especially the Jesus Movement. These two episodes will cover much of that. 2Days Denarius is a teaching social media ministry that stands behind the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. Jesus Christ is our one and only Lord and Savior as stated in John 3:16, John 14:6, and Acts 4:12 (among many other passages in the Bible). For those who do not know Christ as Lord and Savior, or for other questions, 2DaysD may be reached by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. On February 8, 2023, a significant spontaneous appearance of sudden spiritual fervor arose among the students attending Chapel services at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. This took place immediately after one among the school staff preached a short sermon on the subject how Christians should love Christ and then show this love toward others. Students did not leave the Chapel but immediately began praying there and this continued for days. It has also spread to other college campuses in various states as well. It has come to be titled, the Asbury Revival. The university experienced a similar type of revival among the students and faculty in 1970. However, the larger question being asked is whether or not the Asbury event is an authentic revival or not. It has been examined by many who share both the negative and positive sides of the spectrum. But this episode handles it by looking at the writings of Jonathan Edwards, who wrote much on this topic having overseen two significant revivals (including The First Great Awakening of 1741) during his years of ministry. This episode of 2Days Denarius will take its own examination of the Asbury Revival through Edwards's famous writing, "The Distinguishing Marks of a Work of the Spirit of God," which he wrote to defend the revivals of the early 1740s. There is much to be learned from Edwards's categorization of what is and what is not part of a true revival. It is educational, insightful, and enriching to learn that in our time, we may well be seeing a significant move of God across our nation. It is something we all should pray for! 2Days Denarius is a Bible-based educational ministry for Christians who want to learn, grow stronger in their faith, and apply the doctrines of Scripture to daily living. Rev. Thomas is a full Bible-believer, and affirms the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. *One correction in this episode: The Azuza Street Revival was started in a home that a group of Christians, led by a pastor, met in for the purpose of seeking to be filled with the Holy Spirit. It lasted from 1906-1915. Theme song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission of author/artist, Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. As we have welcomed 2023, it serves as a good opportunity to reassess many areas of our lives. For the Christian, certainly the most important examination we can devote our time to is that of creating new spiritual goals for this new year. This first episode of 2023 for 2Days Denarius covers the topics of Bible reading, Prayer, Fellowship, and Stewardship to aid Christians in planning for spiritual growth and opportunity this year. It's worth listen to the full podcast as it not only explains and discusses the topics, but also offers many doable ideas on how to bring new goals to fruition. This is the fourth year since the founding of the 2Days Denarius podcast. Certainly there are great plans and goals made by the creator to make this a more engaging channel in 2023! Come along for the journey! 2Days Denarius is a podcast dedicated to the spiritual growth of Christians, evangelization of the lost, and fully supports churches that uphold the true gospel of Jesus Christ in the evangelical tradition. The ministry adheres to the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture. Its founder is a full supporter of and regularly attends a local New Testament church. 2Days Denarius can be reached by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. This episode of 2Days Denarius has two parts. The early section will present some good news regarding channel analytics for 2022. The channel grew not only in the US, but reached many other countries as well. This ministry is always thankful for the faithful followers who invest time and prayer into this channel. The second section will discuss the recent trend of many evangelical churches planning to close their doors on Christmas Sunday 2022. This is an unfortunate turn of events and one that deserves both a theological and practical application presentation. Though this podcast is rather lengthy, it is valuable from beginning to end with much of the theological and historical information it presents. Rev. Ron Thomas of 2Days Denarius is a bible-believing minister, who also holds to the inerrancy, infallibility and authority of Scripture. The Bible is our only rule of faith and practice, and as a spiritual growth and educational channel, all podcasts are planned and presented with these standards in regard to faith and practice in mind. 2Days Denarius may be reached via email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com.
Even with the challenges many have faced, along with our nation, we still have much to be thankful for. This new podcast by 2Days Denarius will share three prayers that invidviduals and/or families may use prior to Holiday meals. The first prayer is of historical significance as it comes from the Thanksgiving proclamation by President John F. Kennedy that was given a few weeks before his assassination on November 22, 1963. Mary Fairchild's Thanksgiving prayer is the second, then followed by the third, as provided by Ron Thomas. Take time to listen, focus, and reflect as you participate in the time of prayer - we always have much to be thankful for! This episode briefly presents some history behind Thanksgiving with some discussion of proclamations by George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. As the creator of this podcast ministry, Rev. Ron Thomas is thankful for all listeners, subscribers, and friends who support 2Days Denarius. You have made this a great year, and I will create a podcast about the growth of 2Days Denarius in December. In the meantime, take time to pray! And have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! 2Days Denarius may be reached by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. The ministry always looks forward to hearing from our listeners!
This episode is a rebroadcast of 2Days Denarius's episode on the 38th anniversary of the tragic passing of the great contemporary Christian music artist and evangelist, Keith Green. Many Christians either today or who listened to both his music and messages were greatly impacted by his commitment, and often, the conviction that came from the words he spoke. His music and voice is still heard today, even 40 years after that tragic day on July 28, 1982 when Keith and two of his very young children left us. One thing all of us who listened to his music and read The Last Days Ministries Newsletter knew was that he was the real deal, he was genuine, compassionate, spoke the truth in love, as one who understood this since he spent much of his early years "searching for that crazy missing part" that he ultimately found in Christ the Lord. Take a listen to this podcast and learn how God's love broke through to a man and his wife, Melody, after spending years in the drug culture before being caught up in the Divine and Supernatural light. What their lives became is an inspiration for all of us and another example of the amazing change God can make in a life when he or she surrenders and receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!
In consideration of the seeming ineffectiveness of this generation of Evangelical Christians to make a significant impact for Christ on this nation and in world missions (only 3% of new missionaries attempt to go to parts of the world that have never heard the gospel), this episode of 2Days Denarius examines the cause of this problem as a manifest lack of true commitment to prayer by the church and/or prayer focus on extra-biblical matters. The approach in dealing with this problem comes from looking back at a prayer by John Calvin from his commentary on the book of Daniel and dissecting what makes it a great prayer. Between reading Scripture (with focus on prayers in the Bible), reading the written prayers by heroic believers of the past, and being mentored by known prayer warriors in the church, Christians who want to grow in commitment to greater devotion in prayer can utilize these options to enhance their walk with God, pray for the church, this nation, and world missions, and perhaps, as a result, even make a lasting spiritual impact in these areas to reach the world for Christ. This lesson gives challenge to Christians to come out of their lethargy and fill the greatest need of this generation: an army of committed PRAY--ERS to stand in the gap in these days of intense spiritual warfare.
As Paul warned Timothy that in the end times, perilous days would come (2 Tim. 3:1). Regarding faith departure and failures in biblical knowledge we now appear to see, not only are people who attend church lacking a biblical worldview, but a major portion of ministers in this country suffering from the same malady. This episode of the 2Days Denarius focuses on a religious study produced by George Barna of the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University that appears to show major deficiencies of biblical knowledge in the form of a true Christian worldview among the majority of clergy and and those in other teaching levels of leadership in our churches today. This lesson presents and evaluates the statistical results of the study presented in an article by Anugrah Kumar in the Christian Post released on social media on May 16, 2022. This article is very revealing of the progressive and catastrophic shift in evangelicalism, moving it away from its traditional focus on biblical infallibility, authority, authenticity, and inerrancy. Along with this, there very much appears to be a clear lacking of biblical knowledge in how to approach the key events in our times in the areas of right to life, morality, faith practice, among other red flags and failures to step in and defend truth in our troubled times. There is no surprise here as even in Old Testament times, Jeremiah and other prophets warned Israel of their failure to be true to God's covenant. Instead, we see in Jeremiah 5 that the people wanted things their own way and loved that the prophets and priests served and taught in a way that made them happy in their sins. It seems very much like then, like now. Days like these call for revival. A true revival is one that would bring repentance and seeking forgiveness for our failures in the church of our times. Will this, and can it happen? That answer lies in God's hands, and in our prayers. 2Days Denarius is a non-profit Bible teaching ministry. Rev. Thomas believes in the Authority, Infallibility, Inerrancy, Authenticity of Scripture as our only rule of faith and practice. He is evangelical with roots in fundamentalism as well. Teaching the Bible in context and meaning developed from the passage in exegetical study is vital to teaching the truth as it is in Scripture. I make my best effort to achieve this goal. You may reach 2Days Denarius by email at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. Theme song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission of song's author and performer, Rev. Steve Hereford, pastor of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. Pastor Steve has four Scripture song albums that may be found under his name (Steve Hereford) on Spotify.
This is the third annual prayer podcast for the National Day of Prayer on the 2Days Denarius podcast channel. It is vital in our times for Christians to either come together or individually seek God on behalf of our nation and the church. The National Day of Prayer as we know today was set for by proclamation in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan. Nationally, it has its roots as declared by George Washington in 1775. This episode examines the prayer of Nehemiah in chapter one in the biblical book that bears his name. Here we learn about his time of fasting and mourning for the desperate state of his homeland, while he served as cupbearer for the king of Persia. His prayer included elements of adoration for God, confession of sin, and requests for the restoration of his homeland. Because of his faithfulness the king ultimately granted his request. Rev. Thomas, once again, leads listeners into a prayer time as well. 2Days Denarius is an evangelical Bible-based teaching ministry to help Christians be encouraged and grow in their faith walk with Jesus Christ. You can email the ministry at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. It will be great to hear from you! Podcast theme song "Most of Our Time" is used by permission of the author/singer, Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. This episode of 2Days Denarius is the conclusion of the three-part Divine and Supernatural Light series. This phrase was coined by Jonathan Edwards as a description of salvation in a sermon he preached in the 1730s that demonstrated salvation to be a supernatural work of God with no additives. Edwards's experience was much like many of the evangelical conversions in his time, that included, strong, deep periods of conviction, a true calling of the Holy Spirit in the individual, an opportunity to receive Christ, and full regeneration, which is the Holy Spirit bringing new life to the our spiritual deadness - or a new sense of things, as Edwards described it. The Doctrine of Salvation (or Soteriology, as educators call) it, is vital to get right as it gets to the core of how we can have a relationship with God. Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life in John 14:6. He added that no one can come to the father, but through Him. All three parts of this series are essential to understanding redemption that was accomplished for us and applied for the saved to follow Christ. Much of this true gospel message has been marred in our times, but it is only the way of the cross that leads home. The first part of the Salvation Series dealt with man's sin problem and need of salvation from a source outside himself. Though man's spirit and will may be strong, it cannot open its own door to salvation or control its own destiny in the afterlife. That is because of the sin problem that plagues all mankind, stemming from Adam's sin in Genesis 3. This new podcast dives into how man needs and can come to salvation only by and through faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone. According to Scripture, there is only one Savior and way of salvation - and that is through Jesus Christ (John 3:16; 14:6; Acts 4:12, among other passages). It is vitally important, due to such great eternal consequences, that we understand and seek Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit to receive new life in Christ. This episode will explore that journey from darkness to light! Come on this journey and surely you will know if faith in Christ exists in you and how to come to faith in Christ if you do not know Him. Also, please share this podcast with others to help them come to faith in Christ as well! You can contact 2Days Denarius Ministry at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. I greatly look forward to hearing from listeners! Our Scripture theme song for this podcast, "Most of Our Time," is used by permission from author and artist Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. You can find his four marvelous Scripture song albums by searching "Steve Hereford" on Spotify.
In a short period of time, the world has become a very unsettled place. With war in Ukraine and Russia seemingly showing no signs of slowing or stopping in intensity, perhaps possibly even moving beyond Ukraine soon, it's time for Christians to not only pray for this situation, but to check our own spiritual wellbeing as we see the Day of the Lord approaching. This episode of 2Days Denarius focuses on Ukraine and Russia's advance in line with prophecy, along with some other signs of Christ's return from Scripture. In addition, many Christians may wonder what they should be doing with their lives in such an uncertain world as this. This episode goes in-depth on these matters and will help Christians identify what is real and true to the Word of God and what is fake. It is always good to ask and answer the "How Shall We Then Live" questions and this presentation will not disappoint. However, it will challenge its listeners to a closer walk with Christ to enable us to live our lives more effectively in this age. Finally, a prayer for Ukraine is provided in the last section of the video. If you enjoy listening to 2Days Denarius, please download, follow, and share these podcasts. They are meant for evangelism, spiritual growth in the Christian faith, and a sound learning experience for believers who are not receiving valuable teaching in their churches. 2DaysD fully supports the local New Testament, Bible-believing churches that also hold to the inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of Scripture. You may contact Rev. Ron Thomas at 2daysdenarius@gmail.com for more information or to share you story!
Welcome to Part 2 of the Salvation Series! The last episode focused on our sin problem and separation from God outside of a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. The Word of God is clear that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Rom. 6:23). Given that, it's also clear that there had to be a remedy, and one outside of ourselves, to have our relationship with God restored once again. This is the heart of why God sent Jesus into the world to save His people from their sins (Matt. 1:21). The gospel message is clearly explained for us in the early verses of 1 Corinthians 15. That is, Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day (All according to the Scriptures!). Yes, the Good News is clearly explained and was the message of the early saints that was once noted to have "turned the world upside down" in the First Century (See Acts 17:1-9). However, in our times our evangelical presentations are often empty of telling the lost about sin and separation from God and need for a Savior. In its place, many pastors, evangelists, and individuals are focusing on their individual testimonies instead of Scripture truth in evangelism, which will lead no one to Christ and keep the lost in their lost condition. This episode will help those who listen make a clear distinction between a true saving gospel presentation and those of today that leave the sin problem of man out. It also gives examples of current ministries that translate the gospel to a form of self-reformation, rather than true regeneration. Then it will provide true examples of salvation in the lives of Charles Wesley, Jonathan Edwards, John Newton, and Charles Finney. All of these came under deep conviction of sin and separation for significant period of time before the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit aided them to find faith in Christ. Charles Wesley's salvation experience is so wonderfully displayed in the great hymn, "And Can It Be? That I Should Gain." Some of those lyrics will be examined to demonstrate a true gospel saving, life changing experience that should be representative of all lost people who come to true faith in Jesus Christ. Those who may listen and come to faith in Christ, my ministry email address is: 2daysdenarius@gmail.com I would greatly look forward to assisting you with the next step in your new life! 2Days Denarius has been granted permission by Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, to use his wonderful Scripture song, "Most of Our Time," as the podcast's theme song. You may find his four Scripture song albums under Steve Hereford on Spotify. Visit Eastport Baptist Church if/when you're in the Jacksonville area!
In this age of pride, arrogance, and narcissism, man's long war and rebellion against God continues. It seems in our age that the lost seem to hold on to their sin as a badge of honor. Yet, God's Word still declares, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Rom. 3:23 Sin has ultimate consequences in eternal separation from God that comes through rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This episode examines how "conversions" are occurring in the Evangelical church today. Are they real? What do they include? And what do they leave out? The first piece of this puzzle is to understand the biblical concept of sin and match how it is dealt with in the modern day church. Because we are sinners, we need a Savior, which God provided through His Son, Jesus Christ. But it is also vital that we know what we are saved from and to know the meaning of conviction of sin and the Holy Spirit's calling that enables one to receive Christ. This is the fist part of a new series on the plan of salvation as seen in Scripture. It focuses on man's sin problem. Listeners will hear of numerous modern examples of false conversions and revivals, as compared to those in prior centuries where people experienced true conviction of sin and salvation following. It is truly worth the listen, as those who realize they do not know Christ as Lord and Savior, will see the way to the cross. Part 2 of this series will focus on our remedy to the sin problem. In line with emphasis on renewing our commitment to spiritual growth in 2022, there aren't many better topics to cover than how we can make sound spiritual decisions that enhance our spiritual walk and leave no doubt that we are following God's will for our lives. This episode of 2Days Denarius takes a close look at the events of Genesis 13 between Abram and his nephew Lot. What took place there turned out to be a decision of huge consequences not only personally for Lot and his family but historically as well for the children of Israel. In line with that, listeners will learn the decision making paradigms that can lead to devastating decision making in our lives, or ones that aid us in following through in our faith commitment to the Lord. The creator will also share some of his own stories on decision-making and the will of God. In addition, this podcast examines the spiritual decision making processes in the lives of entertainers Alice Cooper and Brian Welch of KORN, and actor Chris Tucker (who all claim to follow the Christian faith). For referral, Alice Cooper's story can be seen on YouTube, Servus Christi channel, episode titled, "Greg Laurie: Harvest of Deception." For further reading on decision making and the will of God, the podcast creator highly recommends John MacArthur's book, "Found: God's Will." The second book traditionally seen as a sound reference on this subject (and mentioned in this podcast) is "Decision Making and the Will of God" by Garry Friesen. Both books are available on Amazon. To contact the creator of 2Days Denarius, ministry email address is 2daysdenarius@gmail.com. Thank you to Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, for permission to use his song titled "Most of Our Time" as the podcast's theme song.
In this first episode of 2Days Denarius for the New Year, we will look at how to plan for spiritual growth, giver greater practice of the spiritual disciplines, develop the theme of Revival for 2022, and give a prayer for this new year. We will also look at Solomon's prayer of dedication in 2 Chronicles 6 as it develops a foundation and pattern for revival in Scripture and our world today. Our nation needs true revival. That is, one that is founded upon humility, confession of sin, prayer, and repentance. These are the biblical ingredients for true revival. Not the entertainment-based and other concoctions and man-produced false ones we often see today. If we want real spiritual growth, we must get ready to work harder and do our job as believers! Let's forge ahead and make a real spiritual difference in our world for 2022. This lesson also encourages its listeners to develop a Bible reading plan and an overall plan for spiritual growth in 2022. In this lesson there is a contribution by Dr. Kevin Carson, who wrote an excellent article on his website for which Christians can frame their spiritual growth plan around in 2022. His article is titled, "Four Spiritual Commitments that Will Impact Your New Year #OnThisSunday." It may be found on his kevincarson.com website. As always, 2Days Denarius is grateful to Pastor Steve Hereford of the Eastport Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, for granting 2DaysD permission to use his song "Most of Our Time" as the theme song for this podcast. Nun Danket Alle God are the first four words of the great hymn we know as "Now Thank We All Our God." This hymn has an amazing story behind it, as it was born out of serious trial and peril during the Thirty Years War (1618-1648). The author of the hymn, clergyman Martin Rinckart found himself to be the only minister left in Eilenburg, Saxony (Germany) to serve thousands of people enduring the disease, overcrowding, and other affects of the war going on around him. It's a story of a great hymn born out of trial and suffering - the types of hymns that have hugely impacting meaning and inspiration to us. Take a listen! Theme song "Most of Our Time" for 2Days Denarius and this podcast is used by permission by its author/singer Pastor Steve Hereford of Jacksonville, FL. His many wonderful Scripture songs may be found on Spotify by searching "Steve Hereford."
On July 8, 1741 in Enfield, Connecticut, Jonathan Edwards preached what become the most famous sermon in American history and keyed the the revivals of the First Great Awakening (1741-1760). This episode of 2Days Denarius looks back at this event, along with this history behind it, what was so impacting about the imagery Edwards employed in the sermon, and gives a glance at Edwards's times, life, and ministry. It also includes discussion of the the only account of the revival from a journal that was recorded the night of the event. In all, it is one of the most remarkable, yet terrifying, sermons one can ever read. Jonathan Edwards preached the full counsel of God with commitment and vigor. Here in the message on the doctrine of eternal punishment, he held nothing back, as you'll discover when you listen. So, take a trip back in time to an era where notable movements of God took place in amazing ways and let's pray for similar revival events to occur in our time!
This episode was developed because of a recent communion experience at a local church. It wasn't the only occurrence in recent times that this podcaster found a church rushing through the Lord's Supper without giving the congregation time to reflect prior to partaking, or even taking time to explain its significance and who may take the bread and the wine/grape juice. As a result, it was time to take consideration of this matter and examine communion's meaning and how churches to day seem to violate its meaning in their handling of this ordinance/sacrament before their congregations. This podcast will examine what Scripture has to say about communion from 1 Corinthians 11:23-34. This is a topic that needs attention because as in many ways our churches are failing here, and I think our errors in judgment on the important of the proper practice of the Lord's Supper is one of the signifiant reasons why many feel unfulfilled in their churches today.
