200th Anniversary of Gladstone's Christian bookshop in Liverpool. Tony Roberts popped into the Flame studio and talked with John Cheek and others about Christian bookshops and the ways in which they can reach out into the community. The Tree of Life bookshop in Slater Street, Liverpool ONE, is far more than just a bookshop. It has seen 200 years of changes in Liverpool social needs and has been, and still is a central point for Christian outreach, staffed by volunteers from a wide range of local churches. Steve and Liz Smith are just beginners but are now regularly establishing an Easter "pop up shop" in the Liscard shopping centre on Wirral as a Christian witness. In addition the Birkenhead Christian Bookshop in the Grange Precinct has a long established reputation.
