Nathan Murphy and Keith Treacy are on hand after our LIVE Newstalk Premier League commentary to bring you all of the reaction from The Emirates Stadium, where Gabriel Martinelli saved the day! A goal 3 minutes into extra time saw Arsenal come back and equalise against Manchester City. The Sunday Kickback on Off The Ball w/ William Hill Ireland
Around the world of sports including a brief bit of ridicule on my always unfounded Jets optimism, celebrating a big Terps Football win, the Yankees chances, the early part of the NFL Season plus Rivalries uniforms reviews and of course our usual verbal trip across the pond to the Emirates Stadium to discuss our Gunners in the early weeks of the Prem Season...
Welcome to another of this season's Off The Ball Big Match previews. Every week, Stephen Doyle, or another member of team OTB will mark your card for Off The Ball's Premier League commentaries of the week. This Sunday, our live Premier League action on Off The Ball begins with the meeting of Sunderland and Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light. Richie McCormack and Brian Kerr will be on the mic for that one. Then, it's off to the Emirates Stadium where Nathan Murphy and Keith Treacy call the big one between Arsenal and Manchester City. And this week it is David Wilson has all the info you need for both of Sunday's Big Matches.
It's the Merseyside derby this weekend, and we get into that feud a bit with this week's guest. After all, Stephen Warnock came up through the Liverpool academy and has been to Anfield and Goodison Park umpteen times (and to Everton's brand new Hill Dickson Stadium once). But that's not the marquee match of the round. Neither is Man United-Chelsea.The big one is ARSENAL vs MANCHESTER CITY at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, and it could tell us a lot about whether the Premier League is about to see a two-horse title race, a three-way, or even a foursome if Chelsea get involved. It will certainly have a different feel from those recent seasons where Pep Guardiola got the better of his ex-pupil Mikel Arteta, however, because Arsenal come into this one as firm favorites.Beyond all that, Warnock also talks about a couple of his more idiosyncratic managers back in his playing days, Big Sam Allardyce and Neil Warnock. He also remembers sharing a flank with streets-won't-forget Barclaysman Morten Gamst Pedersen, and these are the kind of behind-the-scenes stories you'll find — along with some expert insight into the fitness and recovery side of things — on his new podcast, Strain on the Game.Check that out, but first: Have a listen here, leave a review if you enjoy yourself, and check out more sharp conversations and on-the-ground reporting at The Football Weekend.com. Ange Postecoglou took charge of Nottingham Forest for the first time on Saturday in the Premier League's early kick-off against Arsenal as it finished in a comfortable 3-0 win for the home team. There was a pretty baffling bit of team selection as Morato was named at left-back and an unfortunate injury for Murill0 as Arsenal coasted to three points with two goals from Martin Zubimendi and one for Viktor Gyökeres. We'll be live from 3pm to discuss to discuss the game at Emirates Stadium in full as Matt Davies is joined by Mark Sutherns, Paul Morley and Ruby Naylor. #nffc #nottinghamforest

If you watched the Netflix docuseries Sunderland ‘Til I Die, you saw a famous old English club that looked like dying. Two straight relegations for the Black Cats put these giants of the Northeast in a precarious position, and the man often tasked with guiding the viewer through all this tumult and heartbreak was Nick Barnes. As the Sunderland commentator for BBC Newcastle, he calls every game for radio, but he's also covered this club through thick and thin, many managers and even many owners. He's seen it all.And he'll see one more thing this Saturday, when Sunderland travel to Wembley to face Sheffield United in the Championship playoff final — the $200 million game. Whoever wins will play Premier League football next season and travel to Anfield, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, the Emirates Stadium. Whoever loses will be back in the Championship, going to Swansea.Either way, Barnes will be along for the ride. But first he joins The Football Weekend to trace Sunderland's path to this moment. If you're enjoying the show, please leave us a rating and review! Paris Saint-Germain had a point to prove on Tuesday night as they traveled to London to face Arsenal FC in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. Having lost at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season, PSG wanted to prove they are worthy contenders, and after 90 minutes, they left no doubt. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon to recap the 1-0 win over the Gunners and look ahead to the pivotal return leg at the Parc des Princes.First, we discuss the pre-match atmosphere, which included a lackluster tifo from the Arsenal supporters. We also get into the starting lineup and why we're unlikely to see many changes from Luis Enrique ahead of the second leg.We get into the match next and discuss the opening goal from Ousmane Dembélé. Then there's the controversy surrounding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, where Jurrien Timber appeared to make contact and bring him down in a rugby-style tackle in the box. Ultimately, a penalty wasn't given, but should VAR have overturned the decision? Arsenal also had a penalty shout when Mikel Merino went down, but on replay, João Neves clearly got the ball first before any contact was made.In the second half, Arsenal really tested PSG's defense, and their highly orchestrated set-piece dance led to a goal from Merino. However, VAR ruled Merino offside, and the goal was waived off. We discuss Arsenal's strategy and whether they lost focus on the match while trying too hard to perfect their set-piece strategy.Late in the match, Gianluigi Donnarumma proved once again why he is an elite goalkeeper. He made several world-class saves to keep the clean sheet. We discuss his performances in the Champions League and whether he will sign an extension to remain at PSG.We wrap up the show by answering questions from listeners, including how the lineup could change if Dembélé can't go a full 90 minutes. As always, thank you for listening. Few could have imagined that, after a slow start to the UEFA Champions League campaign, Paris Saint-Germain would be one of the four remaining teams left in the tournament. Perhaps even more unbelievable is that Kylian Mbappé's Real Madrid is not one of those teams. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from the PSG Fan Club Boise and Marc Damon to discuss the second leg against Aston Villa, look ahead to the tie against Arsenal, and react to Real Madrid's elimination from the Champions League.Up first, it's the match at Villa Park, which saw PSG take a 2-0 lead to push the aggregate score to 5-1. Villa was able to pull one back before halftime, but a 5-2 lead with 45 minutes felt insurmountable, and PSG supporters were feeling positive. Then the second half started, and two quick goals from the hosts pulled them within one goal in the aggregate score. PSG was able to stop the flow of goals and would go on to lose the match 3-2, but advance on aggregate 5-4. We discuss the main storylines from the match, including Bradley Barcola starting in place of Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé not wanting the Man of the Match award, and Gianluigi Donnarumma's incredible performance late in the match when PSG needed him most.Next, we talk about the matchup against Arsenal, which is a rematch from the league phase when PSG lost 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium. We discuss the unique challenges Arsenal presents for PSG and whether Luis Enrique can figure out a way to beat Mikel Arteta's Gunners.Of course, Arsenal reached the semi-final because of their dominating performance over Real Madrid. We talk about what the defeat does for Mbappé's legacy and whether Real Madrid will have to make major changes this summer. As always, thank you for listening.
