The Mariners were swept by the Royals at home this weekend… How is it that we can look that bad? The team had finally gotten to .500 heading into the homestand and couldn't take advantage of any of the momentum or the nice weather over the weekend. There was a lot of sloppiness, especially on Saturday. :30- Mariners Morning After It was hard to find a highlight this morning… How are we SO bad at challenges? :45- There have been a lot of first round upsets in the NHL and NBA playoffs, but perhaps none was as surprising as Philadelphia knocking off Boston. Should we be surprised though or should we have seen this coming? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Randy Johnson was honored on Saturday night and that was just about the only highlight of the weekend. Ok, yes, Emerson delivered on Saturday and Julio his the ball well, but there weren't a lot of positives to take away from the weekend. :30- Seahawks rookie mini camp took place over the weekend and everyone was talking about Jadarian Price. :45- Cue up the eliminations! Quite a few teams went home from the playoffs over the weekend. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

David and I are still on holiday in the magical city of Venice; it’s my first vist here in nearly forty years and it has been beguiling and enchanting (as well as exhausting)! Before we left, I put together yet another episode of great sopranos of the 1960s and 1970s in stunning live performances as compiled on a 1970s pirate release by Historical Recording Enterprises which I present to you here. Many of my favorites (Callas, Olivero, Scotto, Cruz-Romo, Freni), capped by an unforgettable “Casta Diva” by Shirley Verrett. Also a little celebratory commentary about the dazzling upset in the Hungarian electino last night, one which gives us perhaps a glimmer of hope for the grim situation in the United States. Countermelody is the podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Daniel's lifetime in music as a professional countertenor, pianist, vocal coach, voice teacher, and author yields an exciting array of anecdotes, impressions, and “inside stories.” At Countermelody's core is the celebration of great singers of all stripes, their instruments, and the connection they make to the words they sing. By clicking on the following link (https://linktr.ee/CountermelodyPodcast) you can find the dedicated Countermelody website which contains additional content including artist photos and episode setlists. One of the challenges of life is dealing with transitions and the unknowns that come with it. The Disciples were dealing with large transitions. They had been with Jesus, then He was cruxified, then risen, then He is still going away. He tells them of a Comforter, but they don't know who that is. Maybe you are in a transitionary part of your life, with several unknowns. Listen as some of the Disciples go fishing with Peter.

“You are the most God-gifted writer I've ever had,” Tom's college professor told him. However, Tom quit college; his love of farming drew him back to the farm. Thirty years later, Tom picked up the pen again, drawing readers into farming adventures with him. In these exciting and uplifting true stories, he shares his love of farming, family, and God. His unique writing style brings the reader right alongside him and his family as they work on their northern Wisconsin dairy farm. Tom's stories have spread like wildfire from his hometown newspaper to papers across America. Readers tell him, “Please don't quit writing.” Others ask him, “When are you going to make it a book?” Due to popular demand here it is. From quotes like “Dad, I really enjoyed fixing that with you” to “She's a dead cow don't call me anymore,” these engaging stories will keep you turning the pages to read one story, then another. We are off this week for EHG Prime but present you with this EHG Club unlock of EEHG 330: Gone Fishing With John We aren't sure about J M Buffy's reasons for forcening us to watch early-nineties cult show Fishing With John, but we mostly liked the surrealist slow-TV vibes we got from musician/actor John Lurie's rando travelogue. Ask EHG went deep on Ken Marino's Emmy reel, snacking cereals, and a Sean Bean reboot of Mr. Bean before Dave pitched a CSI cold open for the Tiny Canon. We made Not Quite Top 11 Lists about TV fish, cartoons, and holiday title puns, and wrapped (geddit??) things up with an Extra Credit Game Time from Sarah Claus. Dry off your mittens and have a listen! TOPICS 15s Of Fame:
What does it really mean to follow Jesus? Mark's Gospel offers a far more radical and compelling vision of discipleship than much of 21st-century Western Christianity. In today's episode, we continue our sermon series from the archives, The Gospel According to Mark, as Paul unpacks Jesus' call to His first disciples, their surprising response, and what their example means for our own walk with Christ today. To hear more sermons from Paul, visit PaulTripp.com/Sermons.
Bob Mortimer is an English comedian, TV presenter, fisherman, author, podcaster, pork pie detective and 100% certified national treasure. He's with us to chat about his new book, The Long Shoe, his third work of fiction following the successes of The Hotel Avocado and The Satsuma Complex. Bob has sold over 2 million books (and counting), crowning another significant chapter in his legendary career. Bob first appeared on our screens in the early 90s in Vic Reeves' Big Night Out. His working relationship with Vic has continued for decades and the pair are regarded among the funniest acts in British comedy. Bob is also known for his part in another double act, with Paul Whitehouse in Gone Fishing, a programme which documents their time together on the shores of rivers, streams, seas and lakes as part of Bob's recovery from open heart surgery. Upon entering the Dish kitchen, Bob quickly spots the pork pie starter and crisp bowl, which is followed by Angela fulfilling his nostalgic request and serving kedgeree-style monkfish rice alongside a fresh and cold IPA. Waitrose's wine experts pair this meal with a glass of Paul Mas Réserve Languedoc Blanc. From stories about accidental house fires to avoiding dinner parties and the perfect pasta name for a cat, we learn an incredible amount in Bob's company. We also find time to put his love of eggs to the test in an action packed end of show finale. And remember: eat pie as often as you can! You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube and, new for this season, on Spotify. #410 Saggy-Faced Satsuma - Richard has narrowly avoided a dinosaur based disaster, but never mind because a RHLSTP favourite is returning - the incomparable Bob Mortimer. They talk about holding dominion over the animals, whether questions are necessary in an interview, what prompted Bob to write his first novel and whether satsumas are the best small orange fruit, the adoration for Bob and Paul that the team behind Gone Fishing clearly have, why a double act of two nice men works, what it's like being below average height, aspiring to watch TV, the treatment centre for phone addiction and how to take down coniferous trees. Also how many Bob Mortimers might there be out there and why his book imagines an alternate world for him?Bob has also brought along his joke book for emergencies.Buy Bob's excellent book here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audible-The-Satsuma-Complex/dp/B0B5YBZP5JSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELBecome a badger and see extra content at our WEBSITE See details of the RHLSTP TOUR DATES Buy DVDs and books from GO FASTER STRIPE Hosted on Acast. I am not a great fisherman. I don't do it often and when I catch something, it's pure luck! My dad was the opposite—he loved it and was great at it. At least seven of Jesus' disciples were fishermen and here we see them plying their trade after the resurrection. Some beautiful lessons can be discovered about how to live while we wait for Jesus to come back for us.

This week, Tori heads out on her very first solo fishing trip with the kids armed with YouTube tutorials, Walmart worms, and her new BFF, ChatGPT (aka Mona). What started as a sweet way to relive fishing with her dad quickly turned into a comedy of errors: wrong turns, a park ranger rescue, and a few unexpected new friends along the way. It may not have gone according to plan, but it was pure Tori — full of chaos, laughs, and a reminder that sometimes the wrong turn takes you to the perfect little cove.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Several kinds of fishes that are prohibited to be eaten. And several that are permitted, including contingent only on where they come from (depending on where that is and whether non-kosher fish are caught together with the kosher ones). Plus, the question of a fish that will eventually get scales, but doesn't have them now, or did have them, but lost them before now - those are all considered kosher too. Also, the story o a sliver of "hiltit," with concern or the knife, if it has absorbed non-kosher food. Plus, tekhelet - when to trust it as genuine? Plus, trusting the wives of meticulous scholars ("chaver") in the same way as those scholars are to be trusted.
