Yes, the one with the eye... Plucked from Guerrilla Island, Sarah Flann comes to talk about Bryan Danielson vs. Takeshi Morishima from Ring of Honor's Manhattan Mayhem II on August 25, 2007. Unfortunately, Sarah's audio had a habit of dropping out mid-sentence. The options were to spend a lot of time editing around it, trying to keep as much of what she is saying, or leave it as is, and let our intelligent listeners fill in the blanks. We chose option B. PLUS: Mark's first good joke, some Morishima/NOAH history, some Ring of Honor World Title history, unavoidable discussion of a horrible injury, the Bryan Danielson thought process, Pac, Kieran plays devil's advocate, Raw dark matches, and find out who doesn't do legs. This one is a doozy; the day started with the news of Misawa's passing, then it was the night Ric Flair bailed on the company, Austin Aries won the belt for the second time, another night of burying Tyler Black in NYC, and some matches for the sake of matches. The HDNet run is over, the Sinclair era has yet to begin; but in the middle of it all, one of the most surprising moments in Ring Of Honor history took place right in the heart of New York City. Eddie Edwards headed into the Manhattan Center as the 2010 "Survival of the Fittest" winner, as a former World Tag Champion, and as a former (and the 1st) World TV Champion. Now, in a fight with Roderick Strong, he looked to claim the World Title AND, in the process, become the first ever Triple Crown champion in ROH history. Elimination Chamber is in the rearview mirror and we're even closer to WrestleMania. Someone has to perform a Wu-Tang classic at ManiaCrawl first. In Segment 1, the boys recap the Chamber-who's going to be rocking the mic in New Orleans? After that, we dived into Roman Reigns' excellent promo he cut on Brock Lesnar this week, the greatness of Braun Strowman/Elias and the awkward build surrounding Ronda Rousey (that might just work anyway). In Segment 2 (31:29), AJ has to duck out because he's performing in Charlotte this week but Glenn and Aaron dive into what's happening with John Cena. Will he still face The Undertaker? Could he face Dolph Ziggler? Could he be added to the championship match at WrestleMania? What about the Shane McMahon/Daniel Bryan situation? Or could he face Jinder Mahal? There are so many options. We also discussed the rest of Smackdown, including WHY DID NO ONE ELSE IN THE FASTLANE MAIN EVENT TRY TO PREVENT JOHN CENA FROM JOINING THE MATCH????? In Segment 3 (53:33), the boys welcome in Ring of Honor star Flip Gordon to the show to discuss his big matches at "Manhattan Mayhem" and the 16th Anniversary PPV over the next couple of weeks. Plus he discussed his background coming from Montana, being in the National Guard and much more. Tonight it all goes down at 6pm CST!  1-347-857-1060 to chime in.   Where do we begin in this brand war type show.  WWE held their last PPV before Wrestlemania, titled Fastlane, and it seemed to go in the Passlane.  The guys talk the show and why they failed so easily on such a key show.  Raw and Smackdown Live as well are broke down by the guys, as were just 4 weeks away from Wrestlemania. TNA has had a complete facelift.  From leaving stars, to once that wouldn't return, to those that made debuts, to another that as normal, was a problem already backstage.  We breakdown everything that was the changes, and what came from the Impact tapings.  Spoilers will be out, if anyone cares. ROH also cashed in on the TNA craze and had a couple surprises at Manhattan Mayhem last weekend.  We talk the debuts, what it means for the company, and how much of a effect with these new, older, talents have within a company that tends to be the one to make the stars. Oh and we cannot forget New Japan Pro Wrestling.  From the amazing show that was the 45th Anniversary show last night, saving everyone from Fastlane, to the scary injury we had two nights before.  Also, the New Japan Cup brackets are out, and we will break them down a bit as well. Also we give our favorite endings to any Wrestlemania, as we continue our Wrestlemania countdown.  Also, Ryan has a current match from a few weeks ago, you need to watch. All this, I'm sure more banter as usual, other randomness, and more.

This podcast is sponsored by Anchor

This week, the boys welcome Matthew Brian Cohen (Lifescrapers: Tall Stories of American Lives, Cool Shit/Weird Shit at UCB) to the show to discuss a match that he saw in person: the 2007 Ring of Honor Manhattan Mayhem II bout that pitted Bryan Danielson against Takeshi Morishima in what many called the Match of the Year. Then, the conversation gets heated when Joey and Nick show Stephen the clip where Vader’s eye pops out of its socket during a match with Stan Hansen - a thing that Stephen absolutely refuses to believe happened. Also, everyone sings Daniel Bryan’s praises and reflects on how over he and the “Yes!” chant were (and still are) in WWE. Plus, Stephen tries to get everyone to like Poke from LA’s Ohana Poke. The Year in Review series marches on this week on Omakase, as we take a critical look at where Ring of Honor stands in pro wrestling in 2017! John is joined by longtime ROH fan and host of many podcasts Joe Gagne (@joegagne) & VOW's ROH reviewer extraordinaire Sean Sedor (@SASedor2994) as the three of them try to parse what ROH's year was really like. We go deep on the current roster: are the BULLET CLUB heels or faces and does it matter? Can anyone else opposing them truly look good (or maybe more importantly, look cool)? We also discuss the various wrestlers they lost and gained in the past year or so and what might be at work there. We then dig deep on the weekly television and why Joe & Sean still feel like it's an entertaining watch. The three then talk some of the major shows they attended in the past year (namely Manhattan Mayhem with the Hardys' first appearance, the War of the Worlds NYC show, the Best in the World PPV, and finally Final Battle). They then move on to picking their award winners in ROH for various categories (MVP, Best Major Show, etc.) and a top 5 Match of the Year list. Finally, they wrap things up by taking some of your Twitter questions on ROH. It's all things in the honored ring, this week on Wrestling Omakase!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/wrestling-omakase/donationsWant to advertise on this podcast?
