Happy Birthday Jaki! For the occasion, instead of podcasting from our respective homes, we clinked glasses in person, in front of our first small (but live) studio audience. It was a slow news week, but we covered all the hot topics from Tom Brady's potential (?) retirement, the massive snowstorm that dumped more than 2 feet on the east coast, to the backlash over a certain podcast, and a very rare opening in SCOTUS. We break it all down for you, over cake and brisket - and serve up some good news too in our Good News Corner.

I'm sorry to all my listeners for missing Wednesdays Podcast...I have an excuse, and better than my dog ate my script (I never use scripts). We had a power outage for 30 hours due to a nasty Nor-Easter here in Massachusetts, and much of New England. You don't know what a Nor'Easter is? It's basically an unnamed hurricane force storm that is specific to the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of New England, and is characterized by the winds coming from a north eastern direction. This particular storm reached hurricane force 2 winds for a sustained period of time and dumped as much as 13 inches of rain. The storm also knocked out the power of at least 1/2 million people, some of which are still without power. This storm totally ruined nothing as far as our trading goes, because if I were able to trade, I would not have taken a position...so, you didn't miss anything!

Late season Nor’easters in March are often times the most powerful storms to strike the northeast. On March 26, 2014 one such storm struck New England. The strong late season winter storm brought howling winds and heavy snow to Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Winds gusted as high as 82 mph on Nantucket, and more than 100 mph just off shore. The wind drove snow against buildings and homes plastering doors shut. Drifts of snow several feet high impeded emergency vehicles from removing trees and power poles brought down by the hurricane force winds. Most of the major cities in New England missed out on the heavy snow from the storm, but some offshore islands received almost a foot of snow. Learn more about your ad choices. Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Riz & Jeff "The Dawg" Healy, finally inside after clearing snow for hours upon end, turned on the Hot Stove with some old-school Strat-O-Matic chatter. The guys have been entered into the Strat-O-Matic Elite Media Experts League, with Riz repping the Cardinals and Dawg piloting the Mets. Follow it here: https://t.co/Y1zQOp6R9k. Riz & Dawg battled it out in Strat many times during the Fordham days, and while this might be a little different, Strat-O-Matic 365 has made it feel real for them. Your favorite co-hosts are in it to win it! So follow along and interact as the three-week season goes along. The Strat talk led to a review of Scott Rolen, as he is on Riz's Cardinals team, and his Hall of Fame credentials were scrutinized. That led to talk of Nolan Arenado, and how alike he is to Rolen (and David Wright, as Dawg could never resist talking about his Captain). The guys also covered the retirements of Dustin Predoia and the less-heralded Daniel Murphy, Chipper Jones joining the Braves as a coaching consultant, and Fernando Tatis Jr. grabbing the cover of MLB The Show '21. Diehard Dads was a huge segment, as Riz & Dawg lamented about clearing the two feet of snow, while Riz added a classic story of how snow shoveling and a conversation with his father ended up in a broken phone. Dawg presented Veteran of the Day. With a nod to Black History Month, it was Al Bumbry. Bumbry, an outfielder for the Orioles and Padres from 1972-85 and the '73 Rookie of the Year, served as a platoon leader in the US Army from July 1969-July 1971, earning a Bronze Star for heroism for his service in Vietnam.
