With Wimbledon one week away, the grass court season is in full flow so join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they look back on yet another enthralling week of tennis on the tour. Carlos Alcaraz continued his red hot streak to reclaim the Queen's title whilst former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova announced she was back with victory in Berlin, including a dominant performance over the World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Not to be outdone, Alexander Bublik continued his mid season purple patch with a Roland Garros reversal win over Jannik Sinner (who had the time to release some opera music with Andrea Bocelli) en route to the Halle title over Daniil Medvedev whose long wait for an ATP Tour title goes on. Elsewhere, Petra Kvitova announced her retirement from the sport, Nick Kyrgios was dropped from the BBC's Wimbledon coverage and the US Open announced their star studded Mixed doubles event. Headlined by the tantalising partnership of Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu, the gang debate just what impact a singles based doubles event will have on the format or whether it's just one big gimmick. They also look ahead to the final lead up events in Eastbourne, Mallorca and Bad Homburg as Wimbledon qualifying gets underway.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Never in the long, storied history of The Kevin O'Connor Show has KOC managed to hit ALL 30 NBA teams in one BONANZA of a podcast... until now! Headlined by the Golden State Warriors landing Jimmy Butler (and whether that move makes them a contender), what an incredible 2025 NBA Trade Deadline. The biggest LOSER on Deadline Day was the Phoenix Suns -- whose future now looks beyond bleak as they deal with the aftermath of failed Kevin Durant trade talks (and now: a toxic locker-room). But the Milwaukee Bucks aren't too far behind! KOC and Tom explain how the Kyle Kuzma deal spells doom for Milwaukee in the form of Giannis Antetokounmpo potentially asking for a trade as soon as this summer! And, why the Cleveland Cavaliers went from rich-to-richer in acquiring De'Andre Hunter from the Atlanta Hawks. Kevin explains why the Hawks' Deadline activity showed him that Trae Young's future in ATL is now in serious doubt. Plus: Tom and Kevin don't exactly see eye-to-eye on the MARK WILLIAMS fit with the Los Angeles Lakers. And what on earth were the Toronto Raptors doing acquiring Brandon Ingram? Why the Sacramento Kings acquisition of Jonas Valanciunas could be a jumbo-sized win, and so much more. This episode has it all, just hit play. The early returns on the NFL's "Wildcard Weekend" are "meh" at best, but next weekend is gonna be a blockbuster for sure. Headlined by two utter studs, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay just got back from the North Pole, which is the clever name of a strip club, and are ready to keep Xmas going with 'Bad Santa.' Bombay opens the proceedings by recalling the time he slapped on a Santa suit for Halloween and got more than he bargained for from rowdy drunk girls. Then the guys leave Christmas cheer in the chimney as they discuss one of the great dark comedies of the century, which found an audience despite being marketed as a standard slapstick affair. Headlined by Billy Bob Thornton's committed performance — that was achieved by being method drunk throughout the majority of shooting — the movie finds the sweet spot of relaying the hijinks of a no-good thief while also somehow capturing the spirit of Christmas at the end. Most may remember the "emotional cripple" Santa, but it's the comedic work of Bernie Mac, and the always reliable John Ritter that helps elevate this to a holiday classic. Check out the episode and we promise "you ain't gonna s**t right for a week."

Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay take time out from rowing crew to talk about David Fincher's masterpiece, 'The Social Network.' The Harvard-based movie reminds Bombay of his college years when he lived behind a sorority which led to a couple great late night meet ups, and one particularly embarrassing one. Then the guys dive into a blistering courtroom drama that is enthralling because it's filmed more like an action movie than a biopic/character study. Fincher's sepia-toned examination of the website that forever changed everyone's own social networks, is a tale overstuffed with entitled jerks. Headlined by Jesse Eisenberg's nebbish portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg, it's Andrew Garfield's turn as his lawyer'd up jilted ex partner; and friend, that steals the show. All of this takes place with the soothing score from Trent Reznor that pulsates throughout. You won't regret listening to this episode while you sit on someone's shoulders and call yourselves tall.
Whether you're a fan or not, you can't deny the absolute juggernaut that has been the Wicked movie press tour. After kicking off in Australia earlier this month, the cast of the Broadway adaptation have been going viral while chatting with the media and public about the film. Headlined by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, the press tour has copped some flak for being cringey and over the top, amid viral videos of reporters crying in interviews to ridiculous platitudes about “holding space” for the lyrics of the movie's title track Defying Gravity. On today's episode of The Briefing, Sacha Barbour Gatt is joined by Justin Hill, host of LiSTNR's The Streaming Service, to break down the insanity of the Wicked press tour and explain why it's got people so riled up. Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay pull out the whips and cigarettes for a special Spooky Sleazon episode as they discuss David Cronenberg's horror masterpiece 'Videodrome.' Bombay starts off the program with a cautionistic tale, as he recalls his first time a woman lured him into the masochistic arena, and how the relationship ended poorly much like the one featured in the movie. Then Andy goes into full pulpit preacher mode as the fellas talk about 'Videodrome' and what it meant to be exposed to this film's signal at too young of an age. Headlined by the king of '80s sleaze, James Woods, and featuring a dangerously smoldering performance from Debbie Harry, the movie blurs the lines between violence and carnal pleasures. As if that wasn't eye candy enough, F/X god Rick Baker showed up to the affair to bring to life haunting body horror images that were plucked directly from Cronenberg's mind. It's the perfect melding of gross out goop and hedonistic delight that will have you shouting "Long live the new flesh!"

Star Tribune columnist Patrick Reusse joins host Michael Rand for an overwhelmingly positive episode of the podcast. They start with the Vikings, who improved to 2-0 with a statement victory over the 49ers. By winning 23-17 in a game that wasn't even as close as the score would indicate, the Vikings are proving Reusse correct. He liked them as a playoff team before the season started, but he was in the minority with that opinion. They could contend for an NFC North title in what might end up being just an OK division. The Twins saved their weekend by rallying from a 2-0 hole to defeat the Reds 9-2. Brooks Lee had two big hits, keeping Minnesota's lead in the wild card race at 2.5 games. Now they head out on a seven-game road trip to Cleveland and Boston. A big Pablo Lopez start looms Monday. And the Lynx scored a convincing win over WNBA-leading New York. Minnesota is still in the running for the league's top seed and solidified their hold on the No. 2 spot. That plus Saturday wins by the Gophers football team and Minnesota United made for quite a weekend.
