Oh, and they screwed up the counting big time. Chuck Coughlin and Mike O'Neill will try to figure out if they can find something to talk about in this week’s Think Tank.

Today's Guest: Mike O'Neil, author, Rock the World with Your Online Presence Order Rock the World with Your Online Presence by Mike O'Neill and Lori Ruff, available from Amazon.com by clicking the book cover above! That’s one of the conceits of an online social networking service: I’m someone you should get to know and, by so doing, you will improve your standing in life, members of the opposite sex will find you more attractive and your food will taste better. I can’t swear that any of that is true, but it is the general idea. Whether you’ve dabbled in Facebook, the gold standard in social media, or MySpace, it’s trailer trash cousin, you’ve probably already discovered some of the advantages to be gained by reconnecting with friends and family or being introduced to new acquaintances. But what about your career? MIKE O'NEIL podcast excerpt: "They don't do a great profile before they get going. They jump in, putting in the minimal amount of information without realizing people are looking at their profile to see how worthy you are of their attention. Frankly, there's a lot of competition for their attention. Your profile says, 'I'm worthy of your time and attention'--or it doesn't." While there are limited opportunities to expand your job horizons and opportunities on Facebook, I can tell you first-hand that the place you really need to be is LinkedIn. I have used LinkedIn for several years and have 1,401 business connections on the network. But my experience pales next to that of Mike O’Neil. He is a LinkedIn rockstar, a LinkedIn superstar, a man with 28,000 connections. That’s enough to rank him 24th worldwide. He is also the author of Rock the World with your Online Presence, a rock ‘n’ roll themed primer to getting the most from your LinkedIn experience. A clip from this interview originally aired on the October 18, 2016 episode of Halifax Is Burning. Listen to that show here: http://halifaxisburning.com/october-18-2016/ Songs You'll Hear: TUNS - Lonely Life The Inbreds - Any Sense of Time The Inbreds - Wanna Be Your Friend Sloan - Underwhelmed TUNS - Throw It All Away TUNS - Lonely Life (again)
This week, the boys are joined by Matt's college roommate Matt Hoover to talk about ruined rugs and favorite cheeses, and Mike O'Neill stops by as the group gets into the MLB playoff picture. They break down every matchup and talk about which team is mostly likely to win the World Series (non-sports fans skip to 54:30!). Later on, Hoover uses his teaching skills to show O'Neill a history lesson, and then the group answers emails and talks about how brave Apple is. Be sure to rate and review! Follow us on Facebook, on Twitter, and Instagram, and ask us questions at livefromthemiddleurinal@gmail.com!
TUNS is a something of an "east coast indie rock super group," comprised of Sloan's Chris Murphy, Mike O'Neill of The Inbreds, and Matt Murphy of The Super Friendz. They certainly aren't being celebrated for pedigree alone, though, as their self-titled debut is a tour de force of straightforward indie rock. Mike chats with Mike O'Neill about what brought them together, what they were seeking from this new outlet, and more. Also, while at the Toronto Urban Roots Festival (TURF) on Sunday, Mike got the chance to head backstage and catch up with Canadian alt-rock icon Matthew Good. It's exactly a year since his latest album, Chaotic Neatrual, came out. Matthew reflects on that project with the benefit of hindsight, and also speaks about what it's like to play live when you know people want to hear the old hits, finding peace with his bandmates, social activism, and why he loved Gord Downie's politically-charged statements during the Tragically Hip's final show.
This week, the boys embrace the debate about the best temperature to eat pizza, and Dom forgets where a couple NFL players went to college. Then the boys shoutout Britney Spears and mispronounce the names of molecules. Later on, friend of the show and professional bro Mike O'Neill pops in to talk baseball, and the guys discuss move-in dates and AIM screen names. Be sure to rate, share and subscribe!
